Excellent hotel & dining area. Friendly & attentive staff who work excellently as a team. Couldn’t fault the place !! We stayed there as a result of a burst pipe at our family home ( 3 weeks ) and couldn’t fault Tracy & her team who went the extra mile to attend to all our needs at a very stressful time in our life’s . The hospitality team are a great bunch of people who really look after the patrons and can’t do an enough for people . Also they do a mean Sunday roast ( highly recommended !!!)

The menu has become smaller and smaller, no specials were on. You can’t alter any of the meals. Paid over £9 for a sausage & egg sandwich which came with a serviette stuck to the bottom of it

This was such a great find, an absolute amazing Sunday Carvery - the staff are all friendly and the lovely lady who runs the place was so helpful, you can tell she puts her heart and soul into it and is passionate about doing things properly, everything homemade and little touches which made everything delicious! The best roast potatoes I've ever had, you could honestly just have a bowl full of those on their own, don't know how they get them so crispy and fluffy! As others on here have said, the cauli cheese also went down well, great cheesy sauce and skin on top, yummy! We are not from the area, but will definitely be returning for the Sunday carvery again next time we visit, it was absolutely top notch!! Thanks so much we loved it 😁

Lovely place to stop for a friendly greeting, a delicious sandwich and a great pint. Stopped there on our way to Colchester.

Sadly, the bar food was terrible, pizzas soggy, burnt bases. Setvice was appallingly slow, and the pub had very few customers. At 9pm on a Friday evening, we were asked to move from the garden to inside due to apparent noise complaints from the neighbours! At 9pm?? What a shame. Will not be coming back. On a plus point, the garden is lovely, but clearly on a sunny warm evening, customers are not allowed to use it.

We visited this charming little pub/ restaurant on a recommendation and so glad we did. We booked a lunchtime slot on the same day as we were in the area. On arrival we were shown immediately to our table and offered drinks . The menu is varied without being too large offering vegetarian and vegan meal choices with a daily special. The restaurant offers locally sourced food cooked simply but beautifully. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food on offer. I went for the daily special of black and blue cheese burger with fries @£10 with a fabulously fresh prawn cocktail to start generously portioned. For dessert my partner and I shared an unusual take on sticky toffee pudding recreated as a bread pudding with hot caramel coated banana and a scoop of delicious ice cream. This dessert was amazingly light and sublimely tasty. The service throughout was impeccable. I don’t think I have enjoyed a lunch out as much as I did at The Hoop for quite a while. This is a complete gem of a place and is well deserving of its AA rating. I would not be surprised if at some point a Michelin star may be awarded.

Lovely surroundings and view for a traditional breakfast. Meal presentation was very good and the meal was very tasty apart from the bland, mass produced sausage. What a shame they don't buy them from the local butcher at Whitegate Farm Hanningfield, as if they had it would have been a 5 star review!
