The Harvard Inn in Chelmsford

There has been much work done to create this hotel from what was a fairly run down pub about nine years ago I believe. Beautifully decorated both inside and outside and with new fixtures everywhere. Great to find sash windows that work freely, doesn’t happen often when they are not newish like those fitted in the Harvard Inn now. Quality furnishings and clean everywhere. Very comfortable. Good on site parking. Minor niggles: hate foam pillows and a little more selection on the continental breakfast bar would be nice. Sugar lumps don’t go well with cornflakes!. And some butter on the table with a selection of toast would be good. Also some more soft seating for hotel guests.

We recently stayed in Room 8. Great place to stay. Nice room. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. We had dinner and breakfast. Both meals were good and dinner reasonably priced. However I am a very light sleeper and requested a room away from the road. Room 8 could not have been nearer to the main road running through the village. It did quieten down at 11.30pm…but I was woken at 2.30am, 4am and then again at 6.30 with the noise of vehicles passing. This ruined my stay. I left feeling tired ☹️. Please bear this in mind if you are going to stay.

We have just had a lovely stay at the Harvard Inn. Was going to a wedding at Crondon Golf club just down the road, and this was on the list of recommended hotels from the wedding website. Didn’t disappoint, the welcome from the lady on reception through to the lovely and generous breakfast the next morning, everything was just perfect. Lovely and clean room and spotless bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms too. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a lovely hotel in this area, 10/10 for the Harvard Inn.

Stayed at this quaint hotel for 3 nights for a wedding nearby. Superb service from all staff. Requested pre ordering breakfast for day of wedding so we could get ready, this was accommodated by Toby without question. Tom gave some great suggestions for food. Drinks perfectly made. Room clean and comfortable, spacious and equipped with essentials and replenished daily by housekeeping staff. Thank you so much to all staff at The Harvard Inn for making our stay enjoyable and memorable. We will 100% be recommending and returning for another visit.

We arrived on 26th May to attend a wedding nearby. The bar is lovely and the restaurant very traditional serving great food. We had late Sunday lunch and breakfast the next morning. Tracey the manageress was charming and at hand for any issues. Bedroom clean and nicely appointed,we meant to book twins but had plenty of space in the king size bed. Popular venue for nearby weddings.

Fantastic roast as always. Took the family out and was so well looked after. Adam and Toby are amazing and the waitresses. Nothing was to much trouble. X x x x x x

Let’s start with the dining area , spacious, warm welcoming . The staff genuinely welcoming,attentive ,polite friendly and an absolute credit to themselves and The Inn. The food was exceptional,the pigeon starter was the best I’ve had congratulations to the chef. The other starters ,whitebate,calamari,salmon were just as good. The roast dinners ,beef succulent and tender, the lamb soft and moist,the chicken was perfection . Afters were enjoyed by all, crumble,brownies,spotted dick. This was my 60th birthday meal and it couldn’t have been any better. Exceptional quality,exceptional staff. The Harvard Inn is what good quality Inns should copy. Thank you to everyone

We had not eaten here before, even though relatively local, so were pleased to find somewhere different to eat from our usual choices. Even though lunchtime, there is still a good choice on the menu along with specials. All the meals were beautifully cooked, good sized portions and plenty of flavour, which is something I always look for in a meal, and in particular I would definitely recommend the scallops as a starter and the venison stew, not something you often see on a menu. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and there was a good warm buzz about the place as it filled up across the lunchtime. We received good service throughout and Sophie was happy to arrange a slight change to one of the meals. A good all round experience and we are looking to return in the New Year.

Great service & superb ‘home cooked’ style roasts. The lamb was delicious & the best I’ve had. Ranked up with Felix for excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Two night stay at this lovely Inn. Set in the old village of Stock which is a great walk around in its own right. The Inn although modern was renovated to the style of its history. The staff were very accommodating and served with a smile. The food was really good, portions over generous. Accommodation spotlessly clean, comfortable and so relaxing. Very happy with the choice. Would recommend.

Lovely setting and atmosphere, plenty of parking on site. Friendly staff who were attentive and helpful throughout our visit. Excellent menu with plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. Everything on specials board had sold out by the time we got there, which was a shame but still lots to choose from. We visited on a Sunday so chose Sunday roasts- beef and lamb. Food was served quickly and beautifully presented. Generous portions and served to table hot. Reasonably priced and didn’t feel rushed even though they were busy. Good Choice of desserts too if you have room after the main course.

Very friendly and willing staff, very clean and easy to book in with a great location. I have used the hotel on many occasions and all guests have been well looked after and keen to return. Thanks to everyone for looking after our guests. We shall be back again soon. - Oh yes - and great breakfast :-)

Met with friends as a central meeting point for us all. First time here and just booked for lunch. Sat outside in the garden at first until it rained. And then moved inside to the bar area. Sat at a lovely high table there and had drinks and then moved to our table. Food was superb. Especially my steak. I had rump which can be a bit hit and miss. It was perfection. Exactly how I’d asked it to be cooked and mouth watering! Others had the pork chops and chicken bites. We will definitely return and also include an overnight stay next time.

We stayed one night, with dinner, bed and breakfast and everything was just perfect. The inn itself is an old and interesting building; staff are friendly and efficient; good choice of real ales and delicious food. Our room was quaint, clean and had everything we needed. Really nice food. Between us we had Calamari, Pork Bites and Chicken Bites for starters. Steak, Pork Chop and Steak & Guinness pie for mains. Chocolate Brownie and Blackberry cheesecake for desserts. All very good. Staff polite and attentive without being overbearing.

My wife and I popped in for a small aperitif as the weather was shining. We are currently away from home celebrating my birthday. As such we decided to have a cheeky afternoon cocktail. We were greeted by Laura with a lovely smile asking us both what we would like to drink. Aftersome deliberation we both decided on the Mango crush!! Wow!! Delicious!! Laura brought our drinks to our table, ask us if everything was ok, which it was. Also had the Prawn and Crab caviar salad. Gorgeous!! Thoroughly recommended service, drinks and food impeccable. Amazing place to stay! We stayed there as it was my cousins Wedding 5 minutes away. The Harvard is situated in thus beautiful village called Stock.

Lovely stay. Staff very nice, restaurant food excellent and room lovely. Road a bit noisy till late and early morning 4am but had windows open as warm night.. breakfast service good 👍

Found the website, nothing saying The Harvard is closed at the moment, went through the online booking system and booked lunch for the family today, Even chose the menu type as requested. We all got taxis their just to find out it is closed! 2nd experience with this place that’s disappointed me...will never return. Stay away to avoid disappointment. This is not a Covid issue this is not caring for your customers!!

The food was both very good & well presented.....even though the menu was a little quirky, meaning it was difficult to choose for some. Welcome was friendly & service was good too, especially Jo who looked after us very well, being attentive all evening.

Good friendly staff, nice selection of meals on the specials board and service very efficient. I had the Mussels with Tagliatelle in a creamy garlic sauce, it did not disappoint very tasty. Well worth a visit.

The food served was absolutely amazing and the service exceptional. This was our first time at this restaurant and won't be our last. We cannot fault anything. The chef is a young man who clearly has amazing talents. Thank you for making our belated valentines meal one to remember

My wife booked the restaurant on-line for meal at 4pm for five people (wife and I, my Mum and two children).We arrived at 4.08pm and was informed the restaurant was closed and would re-open at 6pm. He pointed out (with a smirk on his face) that they don't serve food between 4-6pm.I pointed out that we had booked on-line and our booking was accepted. He confirmed he could see our booking (which was highlighted in red, the other lines were highlighted in blue) and we were late.A few pointers in future.* It maybe worth considering changing your on-line booking system to accept bookings when you can actually provide a service. * I'm not sure pointing out we were eight minutes late was useful given the kitchen closed at 4pm and you weren't planning on serving us anyway. Plus industry standard is unto 15minutes before it is an issue worth mentioning.* Given we had booked and you knew you wouldn't be able to cater for us, wouldn't it have been a good idea to phone us and suggest an alternative time ? * In these circumstances, when customer is clearly unhappy, you may want to consider saying 'sorry' or showing some empathy towards your customers, after all you were well aware that you couldn't serve us before we arrived!* It's possible you feel that treating your customers with arrogance and distain is acceptable because you're doing such a roaring restaurant trade. I wish you well with that approach.

I came here with my family for a birthday outing. The food was exceptional and the staff members were very accommodating and polite. There was easy accessibility for wheelchair users which was ideal for my grandparents. All in all a fabulous place to enjoy freshly prepared food and beverages. I recommend!

We had a warm welcome when we arrived there. We went here with friends last year and the food was lovely. We decided to take some other friends and was really pleased with the food again. All the food is cooked fresh and tasted very good. They helped me with my food as I have allergies, they made me feel very comfortable too. Nothing was too much trouble they just adapted it to suit me. All staff were attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend and going back there.

We had a family dinner to celebrate a birthday . We were greeted by friendly helpful staff . The menu was extensive and imaginative. The food was excellent by any standards , well worth a visit

Stayed one night in this very nice hotel. Everything was as a good hotel should be. Room spacious and clean. Bed big and comfortable. Shower room big enough for a party. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast perfect. Will go again.

We had a wedding and we went with the family. Fantastic room for 4, full English breakfast included (beautiful) and fantastic attention. We recommend it!

This review is about our visit on Friday 29th November. We had pre-booked a table for dinner , as we had enjoyed a lovely meal there a year before and returned based on that wonderful experience.This year , the restaurant was absolutely full and although overall the food was good , there were some service issues which was a shame .We had to ask for our food order to be taken after 20 minutes , we asked for the dessert menu and was given the bill and then when the dessert was ordered it was disappointing as the creme brûlée wasn’t smooth . We had ordered a drink that didn’t come until we reminded we were still waiting . Overall a mixed experience this time , more staff would definitely help , not sure if we’ll return next year .

I visited mid week for dinner and must say was not disappointed, the service at both the bar and the restaurant was perfect, the place has a great feel to it, it’s warm and friendly. The food is really good with a menu that ensures a return is needed to experience more of the dishes, all in all a lovely experience.

Myself and my husband have visited a number of occasions recently due to moving house. I actually really enjoy being here. It is well decorated throughout. Always greeted with a friendly smile and by your name. All the rooms we have stayed in so far have been lovely. With homemade shortbread supplied to go with that beverage. The food is absolutely delicious and this includes the breakfast. So nice when you go into the bar and the barmen remembers your drink even thought you may have visited just once before. Great place.

Stayed overnight for a wedding at another hotel in Stock, Great experience, lovley room, superb breakfast. Staff very welcoming.Will certainly return.

A very disappointing family celebrations. Delays awaiting some courses and three hours is a long time with young children. Some of the dishes were certainly not up to standard and although they were aware of our three family birthdays/anniversary they made nothing of it. The response to my emails was very unsatisfactory from the manager. Hence we will not be returning. A goodwill gesture should certainly have been offered

I visited Monday to Friday for work. My review is pretty mixed in honesty.

Went with four friends for lunch in the bar. Staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. Brought drinks to our table. Food was enjoyed by all, fish finger sandwich, cheese omelette, home made chips, vegetables, all lovely and nothing left on our plates. The decor and feel is bright airy, spacious and traditional. The toilets and bar area were immaculately clean. The presentation of food was beautiful. We paid between £10-15 each for lunch and a couple of soft drinks. We will definitely be going back.

Stayed for a business trip. Arrived late so didn’t get to taste any of the dinner menu but I was welcomed politely.

It's taken me a while to write this review due to being busy but I feel it's still well worth writing. We hired the Harvard for our wedding reception and we were absolutely delighted with our day.

Great location and excellent meal to celebrate a couple marrying. The garden was an added bonus. We go there again.

Had a lovely Sunday roast at the Harvard inn last Sunday. The dinner was delicious with plenty of meat and vegetables. Found the staff very friendly and accommodating definitely will go again. I have also been here once for lunch which was also very nice I would recommend the ploughman’s. Yum!

We arrived at 9.55 waited 10 minutes for anyone to see us to then be told we missed breakfast by 5 minutes that is great customer service!!!!

I recently visited the Harvard Inn of Stock for an evening meal. I settled for the gourmet burger and it was truly amazing, everything you could wish for thick, juicy and cooked to perfection. The salad and chips were excellent as well. Now for the dessert and that was just as good as the main. I went for the mixed fruit Eton Mess OMG it was the best dessert I have had. All in all a great evening meal in lovely surroundings and the staff were very polite and friendly. Thanks Dave

Room was ridiculously hot and stuffy, neither of us could sleep, when mentioned to staff they didn’t care in the slightest, just interested in taking money instead of customer satisfaction sadly!

Our son was playing cricket in the area and we took the chance to have two nights here. The place is an absolute gem. Great service. The room is beautifully appointed with a nice bathroom. The food is lovely. Plenty of room in the car park. Great free wi-fi.

We were staying to attend a nearby wedding and were able to check in early and drop off our bags so they were there when we returned later, which was very helpful. The room was lovely, spacious and clean with a modern bathroom. Comfortable beds ensured a good night sleep and we had a delicious breakfast. The service was fast for our table of 8 in the morning and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The building had pieces of historical information around too making it an interesting place. The bar area was lovely with good drinks and the homemade crisps were great. We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend the location, staff and comfort of our stay. :)

Stayed only one night 20/21 July. A lovely room with an excellent bathroom. Clean, tidy and modern. Breakfast in the morning was cooked fresh and lots of choices. We would highly recommend.

Beautiful building on the corner of a busy little Village - in Stock Extremely well-maintained everything upgraded, even though it’s an old building it has been completely renovated and in excellent condition. The breakfast was fabulous the bar downstairs was really nice and cozy and comfortable. Our waiter was a little tense as we came down for breakfast at 9:35 (even though breakfast is served til 10) He didn’t seem too happy that we were late (?!) as he rushed us a little ... it kind of put a damper on our stay, as we were spending our last hour with our family who had agreed to stay at the same hotel as us. Now we felt rushed to order, quickly eat and leave. If we had come down at 9:55 I’d understand. I’d totally recommend this place though as the room was lovely, & the bathroom was excellent. There was even a fan in the room which was lovely as it did get hot. Parking was great. The bar is lovely & quaint and cozy and you must try their homemade crisps.. yum. Be aware you can’t get a meal in the village after 9 9:30 .

...then you've got my wife's loyalty! Excellent meal on two recent occasions - service was willing, more than capable and friendly. Very welcoming people and place. Yes, the scotch egg is well worth the investment but really the entire menu is appealing, well-presented and tasty.

Staff and food are fantastic! We are regular visitors here and are never disappointed. If you are looking for a traditional country setting with wholesome food then this is perfect.

If you enjoy waiting forever to get served a drink and then having to get your own from the bar while other customers who are friends of the waiting staff get served their whole meal together with two rounds of drinks in this same timeframe then this is the place for you.

More of a restaurant than a pub.

We stayed 2 nights here and had a really nice time. There’s a friendly atmosphere, the room was a good size, clean and an almost new bathroom. The building structure is lovely and old, built in the 1500s. We had a couple of bar snacks in the sunny garden one day and breakfasts both days were fresh and tasty. Right in the middle of the village with parking. Would stay again!

Made my original booking with a third party website, whom did not properly inform the hotel. We are all booked in for a family wedding near by, so panic stations on my side. But all is good the very helpful and efficient manager fixed the problem and settled my nerves. lesson learnt always book direct, so much easier and the staff are very helpful.

Very impressed with The Harvard Inn from the moment we arrived for our one night stay. The staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful; absolutely nothing was too much for them. They clearly enjoy their work and looking after clients.

Popped in here recently for a bite to eat. Arrived at 1 minute to 5pm when they officially stop serving for the afternoon but was most graciously accepted for a food order and so was delighted. Ordered gammon and eggs and a steak and ale pie.

Previous visits had been ok service despite quiet but very attentive.

Went to The Harvard after visiting a nearby event and was recommended The Harvard for lunch, six of us arrived at about 1.15 no tables available in the restaurant and was asked if we would like to eat in the bar area I have no problem with this as bar was very nice and cosy (Think I prefer it over the restaurant) Ordered drinks at the bar and ordered food, saw that Ray Wing was on the specials and was very tasty and a good size portion others had Beefburgers, Chicken Burgers and Fish and Chips no complaints from anyone.

We were a large party of 13 which my husband had arranged as a surprise birthday lunch. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing. They kept us topped up with drinks and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. A birthday cake was also ordered and was presented on a lovely stand and had been cooked that morning, it was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we had a wonderful time.

On Wednesday 3rd April, we came for an afternoon tea to say goodbye to a a colleague of ours. As always when we go to Harvard the food is top notch, but they really took it to another level with the afternoon tea.

Had dinner in The Harvard last night. Have to say excellent service, excellent food and the manager, Lisa, made us very welcome - we will definitely be back.

First visit to the Harvard Inn last night and they have got it right!

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was going to a wedding close by. Lisa & her team were really friendly & helpful. The hotel itself & bar are lovely & the rooms & bathroom are spacious. Lisa even helped me with a local hairdresser. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Stock then I would recommend it! Great hotel, staff & price!

Just back from a one night stay here and loved it. Great service, great food, lovely rooms. What more do you need?

We ate here with friends on a Saturday after hearing mixed reviews. Must say that the meal and service was excellent. I ate the slow cooked beef which was outstanding.

Arrived at 1pm for lunch and no-one to be seen at the bar or restaurant...had to ring a bell. We had reserved a table and were told on arrival that there was an exam happening behind screens in the restaurant so we could sit in the bar if preferred. Stayed in the restaurant had vegetable soup which was ok nothing special. I had chicken which I never order when out but was not inspired by the other options for lunch. My friend had winter salad and only managed a third as it was mainly cabbage and onion. We ordered Pinot Grigio from Veneto which was in fact from Sicily....very nice but would be good to be informed of the change. Said we would have coffee on a while but nobody came back to take the order, in fact the waitress left at 2.30...never said goodbye. Only one other couple came in for lunch. I think they need to decide if they are either a restaurant or a corporate training venue, both in the same space does not work.

Visited this pub yesterday and received a warm welcome from staff. Sadly food, was a disappointment, after a long wait , we were served our meals. My husbands spicy chicken thigh burger tasted ok, but was very skimpy on the chicken considering the price, my catch of the day fish had barely any batter and was soggy, again small portion size, although the fish was nice, it was supposed to come with a pea purée, but was with frozen garden peas, the worst thing was the triple fried chips, so hard you could not get your fork into them, while I love crispy chips, there should be a soft centre, whereas these were crisp all the way through, and difficult to eat. Nothing was so terrible to reject the meals just the whole experience was disappointing. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and professional, and the pub was clean and inviting.

Poor check in. Following 3 hours in the car i didn't expect to be kept waiting with no one to check me in. I had to ring the hotel to get someones attention and was then treated poorly by the guy who said he had other customers to serve. It was 6.30 pm the bar wasn't rammed and there were 2 guys serving so no need for that comment. I wasnt asked if i wanted a restaurant reservation and he was pretty unfriendly. Unfortunately he was also serving in the restaurant that evening so I got short shrift again when I asked about vegetarian options. If it wasn't for this experience is would have scored much higher. The food was great, accommodation new and clean. Bed a bit hard for me but other than that all good and the other staff were friendly.

Had a lovely meal here between Christmas and NYE, good was tasty and cooked well. Waitress was friendly

Book a last minute Sunday lunch and was a little apprehensive as not easy booking somewhere nice at a few hours notice and actually get in !

I went here for a spontaneous New Year's Day lunch with my husband and young children. The waiter and waitress serving us were very friendly, but lacked either listening abilities or memory skills. As the place was almost empty when we arrived and half-full when we left, it can't be put down to them being rushed off their feet.

Really nice place with very good service.

Back at The Harvard, never disappoints, I had my customary Scotch Egg, this time it was a jerk Chicken..... fantastic!! I followed with The Pie of the Day....Steak & Ale, generous filling with Water crust pastry accompanied by mash and seasonal vegetables, very good!!

Lazy lunch with a friend who had wanted to try The Harvard for a while. Parking was easy, although the restaurant itself was not full...be warned that not all of the parking spaces in the car park are designated for customers of the Harvard.

This review is about our visit on Friday 30th November for dinner. We found the bar area very warm and inviting. It was quite busy but not too busy , enjoyed a pre dinner drink before our meal - would recommend the mulled wine .

Best roast you’ll get for miles. Only place I know that serves a whole roast chicken platter for 2 with seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and crispy potatoes. Absolutely delicious. Service was great, atmosphere cosy and warm. Thoroughly recommend the Harvard for a Sunday lunch.

Formally "The Cock Inn" or the Cock in Stock, now The Harvard Inn, four of us visited for a Saturday lunch, we had booked a table but choose to sit in the bar area (less formal perhaps) and was able to choose from either the bar menu or the restaurant menu, great choice of food and a selection of specials from the board, all at very good prices (amazingly cheap in my opinion) four starters, steaks and lobster (well for me anyway) all for about £80. The waiting staff, bar staff all wonderful making for a very enjoyable afternoon out. We'll be back for sure :)

Booked online which was really simple, warm greeting on arrival. I'd phoned ahead and advised there was 1 vegan in our party, this wasn't a problem and was presented with lots of choice.

After writing hundreds of reviews and having stayed and eaten in many restaurants, this by far has been my worst experience and it is to do with the management and the service as a whole.

Well where do I start. Whilst out on a Saturday evening looking for somewhere to go for dinner, the majority of pubs were rowdy and didn’t have the best vibe for a quiet meal. Whilst driving through Stock suddenly spotted the venue and immediately went inside. Although I was worried due to being in shorts, the bar man simply had a joke and said it’s fine.

It was fairly quiet the evening we ate here, although it was early, around 6.30, so we ate in the bar area. The menu is pretty good, and there is a specials board. Food is good, nothing fancy.

Had evening meal with work colleague who was stopping at the Harvard. Nice little bar and cosy restaurant. Service was good and after a reasonable wait the food that was served was good quality and value for money. Scotch Egg was unusual take on the traditional fare but was tasty. Fish and Chips was a good portion and fish was nicely cooked with lovely crispy batter. Stay in Stock regularly and will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu.

Whilst out for a Sunday drive, we passed this gastro pub. We visited Billericay first and decided on the off chance, we would see if they had a table so we could try, what appeared to be recent upgrades to the pub. Parking was easy, with plenty of spaces in the modern recently refurbished car park.

Went for the first time. Staff very friendly at first. Starter was really loverly. Ordered rump steak for main with skinny fries nd other half ordered catch of the day which come with skinny fries. Both turned up with fat chips the waiter took away the fat chips and left us with our mai a while they undercooked frozen fries which by the time they came our mains were cold. My steak was inedible full, of gristle some much so that I couldn’t cut it. Sent it back and the chef apparently said it was very fatty but didn’t offer nothing else or come out to apologise even though we were the only ones in the restaurant and didn’t even take it off the bill discussed. As a friend of ours would say VOTE WITH YOUR FEET. won’t be going back

Myself and 5 others stayed at the harvard inn as we were attending a wedding reception on bank holiday monday. I call earlier the week before arriving to see if our 3 room could be together as we wanted to get ready for our evening do together, the staff were more than accommodating and put us in the 'stable block' which was prefect, we could go between our 3 rooms and not disturb anyone else in the hotel.

We stayed here for the night. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had drinks in the bar before going to our room. My partner was happy as they had bomdaire ale on. Went to the room lovely and clean, huge bed, huge shower. We ate in the restaurant food was exquisite and fresh very tasty. We also had breakfast totally lovely, as much juice/coffee you want. I would totally recommend this place. We will be back again. Well done. X

Lovely B&B; in a perfect location for a wedding we attended.

Have been waiting for quite some time to visit the restaurant after driving through Stock many times so was feeling quite excited about my Sunday lunch. Arrived early so we thought we would have a drink, unfortunately we couldn't get to the bar because customers were sitting or standing at it but squeezed on the end and got a drink and sat down.

I visited here for a family birthday and was pleasantly surprised how good the decor and also the food was.

Really lovely lunch, great food, friendly service, lovely food and plenty of it. Good choice of wines and a beautiful setting. We will be back.

Lovely place, very clean. The staff were very accommodating when we had to book in late and were happy to help whenever we phoned prior to our stay. Excellent breakfast and a lovely friendly lady ensuring that all was well. We were in the block away from the main building which was fab, as not disturbed at all by people passing in corridors etc. The beds were superking size very comfy spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. I slept soundly andI would be happy to recommend this place.

Decided on this restaurant out of a choice of 2 and should not have bothered. Have been wanting to visit for a while. We booked a Saturday evening 7.30 and arrived at the same time as other diners to a barrage of noise from inside. A large party was loudly enjoying themselves. Once seated we could not hear each other talk. We spoke to the embarrassed waitress and said its very loud. The other table in also complained. Nothing was done. The menu looked good but we didn't get as far as ordering but along with the other tables in we upped and left. Not a word from any staff on duty The decor was also disappointing.

We went on a Sunday. The starters were good, but while my roast beef was good enough, if not exceptional, my wife and son chose Chicken Madras, which was apparently watery and tasteless, and they were in a terrible mood for the rest of the meal. I fear we will not be going there again.
