Excellent quiet traditional pub with all fares im beautiful location too

What an English Pub should be. My friends and I stumbled on this pub some years ago and even bought individual pods to sit outside during Covid and the staff are friendly, always helpful, always laughing and make this pub a joy. A great old fashioned pub with great hospitality. FYI you know me as 'Will'

Didn't eat here, picking a friend up who lives next door, just came for a couple before going out for a curry, lovely pub hidden away in Galleywood, always friendly staff good selection of ales, nice during the summer sitting outside, apparently the food is nice here.

A perfect setting for a country pub. Friendly, cosy and a lovely family run pub. I highly recommend this pub.

Wide choice menu. Well cooked and good sized portions. A bit pricey but good value. Friendly staff and a choice of bars, one not allowing children. Plenty of parking mid week but could be busy weekends as it is a popular walking area.

A very unique Pub on the old racecourse in Galleywood Common. Two bars one is dog friendly which is a bonus. Great friendly staff. We need to visit more often.

Staff were friendly and chatty. The meal was very nice and reasonably priced which was served quickly. Option to sit inside or out. Dog friendly. Only down side for us was the disability access. It has a gravel carpark so it wasn't easy to push a wheelchair along or get up the step through the front door.

A good menu of snacks, sandwiches, salads and mains (as long as you like chips) and old fashioned puddings for dessert. Good and friendly service.

We called on a Saturday to book a table but was told all tables inside ate booked but outside is first come first served and open at 12. So we set out early and took our dogs for a long walk and circled back to the carpark in plenty of time for 12 o'clock. A male staff member came out and I asked if the back garden was open,, he didn't even turn to answer me and just said no and walked off, I felt this was rude but We took a seat outside and waited for 12 o'clock, shortly after 12 a female member came out and informed us its all fully booked. We explained we called 2 days prior and was told you can NOT reserve outside. Left and won't be returning any time soon we planned our entire morning around having lunch there. Staff were rude and unfriendly.

Great little pub in a lovely setting. Doesn't open everyday of the day of the week so best check online if visiting. Food not served until 7pm.

food was very poor, £13.00 for a bed of lettuce and a tin of salmon on the top (this was meant to be a salmon salad) the salmon still had the indentation of the tin on it, also ordered catch of the day when it came it was like Iceland processed cod, also ordered the steak and the mushrooms were full of water obviously frozen mushrooms but steak was ok I would recommend as a dog walking pub alright to grab a cold drink on your way around

Good pub £9 for a pint and a shandy is a bit steep other then that it is a top pub in lovely location

First time out in a while, great evening, staff were lovely, food looked good and smelled great ( didn't partake myself ) ordering drinks was simple and straightforward using a sign-in procedure, bring a chair and sit outside and chill out at a nice quiet location, will be visiting again 😍

Me and my family walked for an hour today, only to be told the pub was closed. 6pm on a sunday. We wont be trying to visit there again.

Excellent beers on tap - proper ales, can't comment on cooking lager if that's your thing! Landlord knows his stuff.

We have only recently stumbled across this pub, and have to say its just a shame we didn't find it earlier. This is what a pub should be, a pub that sells beer, but also sells food, as opposed to a pub that sells food, but also beer. I love pubs to be pubs and not restaurants. 5 real ales, a real treat nowadays, very friendly staff, very clean and tidy. 2 bars, dog friendly, tucked away in the middle of galley wood with plenty of parking

Never been to this pub before and it was a geocaching event so it was not our choice to come here. It was very nice to be honest the food was good and good value for the price. It a pub with food not a restaurant so the price is reflected in that. Nice friendly barman and a good selection of local real beers. Both of had no complaints

Saturday afternoon so was busy, but still seated swiftly Waitress Jackie was very helpful and polite 2 course lunch was very enjoyable, will certainly return!

I was there for my mothers wake. They did us proud with a lovely buffet very nice venue to have a wake and the landlord has been lovely to deal with. It's a nice cosy room with a lovely atmosphere and the buffet was set out in a separate area.

Have eaten here a few times. Food is nice enough - the waitress “T” is pig rude.

Been here a few years ago, gone downhill. Firstly asked for the beetroot wellington which I was told there wasn't left so I was happy to go with just the potatoes and veg, The chef then miraculously found the beetroot wellington. It was obvious he couldn't be bothered to make it. Microwave potatoes to the point they were chewy, veg small portion. Choc torte dessert was nice although still icy as hadnt been throughly defrosted. Wont reccomend.

First time going to this restaurant visiting my family for lunch, lovely food and a very nice atmosphere, great staff very helpful working hard to keep us happy Amelia was our host very pleasant staff. Will be coming back for sure.

My husband was on crutches the Landlord brought him over his food and drink. However there was no help given when he was struggling with access through several doors. The door kept closing on him but no one attempted to help.Drinks G & T cost £5

I had ordered a pizza and when it came out it was a MICROWAVE PIZZA and potatoes were frozen and disgusting don’t recommend this DISGUSTING place

This is a great pub with a large carpark on the edge of Galleywood Common, a good place for a walk. The pub has recently been refurbished and the bars are now very smart and comfortable. There is a great selection of food and also a variety of beers on tap. The landlord and bar staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. This is how pubs should be.

Old fashioned pub, no music or games machines, open fire, choice of ale and pub grub. Friendly with no airs and graces. Quiet spot with outside tables

A lovely place to stop for a drink whilst rambling on Galleywood Common. Food was rather expensive but well presented and good choice for lunch. Decor good, loos very clean and plenty of outdoor seating.

Persistently popular. Reasonably good range of drinks. Lovely location, especially when able to sit outside. Friendly fun staff.

Good beer and cheerful service. Orders still written down on a pad. Great gammon and the ham looked great too. Take time to find this quiet watering hole.

We went on a Monday and dined alone, but with friends. Food was very good and worth waiting for.

Come here with my family, today for the first time and everything was good. Toilets were clean and hygienic, staff went above and beyond with there service. I would definitely be coming back. The food is yummy and comes out VERY hot (which is a good thing). I would like to thank the team if they see this for making us all feel welcome

Popped in on bank holiday Monday as we were out and about in the area. Sat in the bar area I ordered ham, egg and chips. My partner had a ploughman's. Best I've eaten since my nan's. Plenty of ham. Lovely fresh egg. My partner was very happy with his choice too. Very friendly staff. Obviously have a few regulars. Will definitely return. Couple of vinos. Lovely!!

Wilted salad with mushy peppers, cold fatty inedible pork, tiny chicken burger in dry white bun - welcome to Chef and Brewer! No alcohol, no starters or desert and it was nearly £60 for 4 for lunch Better go to pret !
