Lovely friendly pub with an excellent range of real ales. I had the Mauldens Black Adder which was very good. We had a very tasty panini but note that there was a sign in the pub saying they now only serve food for special group bookings and on days one and two of county cricket matches. We happened to be at the cricket on day two so were quite lucky.

Didn't eat here, great service as over 50 of us arrived. Good pub good facilities.

Great little pub with lots of real ales, both local and from further afield. Many beers and stouts I hadn't tried before. Popular with locals and you can see why! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Chelmsford.

Have been going to the Orange Tree on and off for the last 40 years. A lovely welcoming locals pub with two bars and courtyard garden. Excellent selection of very well kept beers. One of the best pubs in Chelmsford.

Real local pub with a great selection of beers that are constantly changing and a good set of main taps. Dog friendly, shows sport, it's always busy on England rugby days. Nice outside space that is currently being refurbed.

Great little real ale pub. You’ll always find good local beer kept in immaculate condition. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice sun trap garden to the rear too. Best pub in Moulsham.

Great little cricket pub off the main town area in Chelmsford. Good selection of different drinks, staff were friendly and place was well kept and clean.

We had an event here for about 15 people this week and the venue provided a cold buffet as well as a good selection of beers. Friendly and efficient service.

We held the wake for our dear Son Oliver in this delightful pub it was in a private room with its own entrance We ordered a hot & cold buffet for 50 guests it was amazing a good variety of buffet food & plenty of it they kept topping it up for us every one was so kind & friendly we couldn’t have asked for more they really did Oliver proud we can’t thank them enough We were so impressed no deposit was necessary no hassle for any money we were just told pay at the end how refreshing these days everyone demands payment up front The location is perfect for Adam & Greenwood’s chapel just a few minutes walk away A huge Thank you to you all

Nice selection of ale at good prices ! . The member of staff who served us was rather grumpy ! . We went there looking for food, only to be told they were not doing anything on our visit . Next time we will telephone before visiting ! . Wouldn't have mattered much except this time we needed to get to the venue we had came over to go to to see a band . Thus only the 3 star review .

Decent pub in Chelmsford. Always about 8 different beers of disparate styles, all well kept. Good cider and a large range of gins and whiskies. Very recently were a definite 5-star pub but changed management recently and working hard to keep previous standards. Definitely a good pub - time will tell if they reach the heights of the town's best pubs (Oct 2022). A return to glory! Bar manager proving to be a great beer orderer and keeper with black beers always available alongside the more popular golden and pale varieties. More importantly, a new cook has been employed in the kitchen and he is doing a great job. Five of us all thoroughly satisfied with the fare. Back to 5 Stars!

To say its only 50 yards away from the queen's head totally different a lot busier probably about 10 cask beers on 2 house beers on which I would say are rebadged beers from the respected breweries I would certainly go back

Good honest friendly pub not far from the city centre and train station. Great selection of Beers, Ales, Ciders and plenty of variety when it comes to spirits and mixers. Tea & Coffee available, usual bar snacks and pub grub available most days i believe. Ideal pub to spend time in and an excellent venue when the cricket is on. We had Friday night in there and great timing since it was Tapas night, we tried the whole menu and were impressed. We highly recommend you go in and give it a try.

REALLY ENJOYED OUR ROAST DINNER, NICE BEERS FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING STAFF

Table and meal choice pre booked for 11 people days in advance but waited for over an hour to receive food (Ham & Eggs). One of our group had to leave as food was too late. Another large group arrived 30 minutes after us but were served first. Eggs were under cooked & confusion over order choice. I finished eating whilst others had not received food. Bad room acoustics that made conversion difficult. Conclusion - Its a pub for drinking in not eating.

My family has just visited for a lovely Sunday Roast to celebrate both Mother’s Day and a Birthday. Food was fantastic with proper homemade yorkies! Plenty of extra gravy was given when asked for. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The pub itself had a lovely proper pub atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Went a couple of times before Christmas & went again yesterday 7/1/2022 for lunch & drinks. As a member of CAMRA, I find the drink selection excellent, the beer well kept & the prices for the area very reasonable indeed. My wife had scampi & chips followed by treacle pudding & custard & I had steak & ale pie with mash, followed by chocolate pudding & custard. The food was good & complemented my real/cask ales. Some of the ales change on a regular bases & they do a good selection of ciders as well. The staff were all friendly & helpful & will will visit again in the future when in town. Thanks everyone.

Cannot speak too highly of this pub. A fabulous selection of beautifully kept ales complemented with a draft wheat beer I’ve not been able to find anywhere else in Essex. Trish is the landlady every pub should have - hard working, personable and with a genuine interest in her customers. A proper pub and a real find.

Traditional pub with large variety of Beers and Ales. It is a place you can get some talking done and is relaxed. Think it offers food as well (classic pub fare) but at time of writing can only comment on how lovely the staff, atmosphere and drinks are. It's a great local drinker if that is your thing. Aiming to visit more often!

My first visit and very impressed. A beer drinkers paradise with an excellent array of beers and ciders on tap. Even though I don't drink alcohol they found me a great non-alcoholic lager to enjoy. Great atmosphere.

Visited Saturday lunchtime. Seven or eight real ales available, knowledgeable staff and excellent condition of the beers. Staff also were very attentive,coming to the table before glasses were empty, taking orders and delivering fresh drinks to the table.

Cracking pub with good range of ales and beers. Now has a decent "pub garden" at the rear with large covered areas for those who prefer the fresh air. Friendly staff and crowd, can get busy when Essex CC play a T20 match. Conversely it's great if you fancy a beer after a T20 match!

Nice beer and great service.. Always busy when I go in. Person who runs it has run several of my favourite pubs in the past. Big TV on one side of the pub of you like football

We were enjoying a day at the Cricket and needed a meal quickly during the lunchtime break , The Orange tree was perfect , the service very prompt , we sat outside and within a few minutes our drinks and food order had been taken, the drinks arrived in short order followed by the food which was lovely and hot, basic pub food at a good price enjoyed with a nice pint.

I’ve been going to this amazing pub for a long time about 13 yrs! This place has a great atmosphere and environment with friendly staff! Trish is always very friendly and values her customers. They have a lovely range of beers and great chips! It’s a proper pub with a proper pub atmosphere! The garden has recently been improved and is now a great outdoor space. Really recommend this pub to all range of people. The good thing is it welcomes all ages! And is dog friendly.

As soon as we walked into this pub, which was recommended by a friend, we felt the special atmoshere. It encapsulates all the feelings of an old style pub, but unlike an old style pub, the beer is fresh! There were 8 real ales on when we went to the Orange Tree. The star of them all is their own House Ale; hoppy, but not over hopped. Beautiful ale. The atmosphere, the beer, the food... all are second to none. Our thanks to Lucy, who kept an eye on the level of ale left in our glasses and offered to bring new pints as requested. Keep real ale alive. Visit the orange Tree!

The staff couldn't do enough for us, even had some sausages for our dogs. Food was fresh and hot and I will be recommending this quaint little pub to friends and family. This was a good experience even though a lot of punters came at the same time. Thank you guys x
