Costa in Chelmsford

Don’t order anything from Costa Coffee via Uber Eats!!!! They take your money if the food isn’t available and tell you to get a refund from the app which is impossible!!! This is the second time this has happened to me with this shop.

Had a free coffee and cake voucher for my birthday,popped in and the carrot cake was lovely.

This is my favourite Costa to go to at Chelmsford. Always good to connect with the Costa team who provide the services, amazing lot! Perfect place at the city centre and gives you an opportunity to relax and enjoy it.

The staff in this particular Costa are the best in any coffee shop I've been to. So friendly and personable, great service with a smile. Much appreciated during a manic last minute Christmas shopping trip.

Best coffee place in town with an amazing and best team. The Staff are always friendly , helpful and cheerful which makes this place a clean, happy and peaceful environment to enjoy your coffee.

Costa is one of my favourite places to have my coffee. It's always my first choice when I think about having a coffee. They have a good and respectful staff with a clean atmosphere. If you order a coffee for example and it's not the exact thing which you ordered, they will just change it in a very respectful way even if you drank some of it, it’s happened to me. One of the most amazing and different points is about their Costa Card if you have it, after having 10 coffees there you’ll get a free coffee.

We popped in for lunch while doing our groceries and got to try their new seasonal products. The Maple Hazel Hot Chocolate and Latte, the Nacho Chilli Cheese Toastie, Hog Roast Toastie and Caramel Apple Tart! The new drinks were so delicious, especially if you have a sweet tooth these really are worth trying! Out of the two new toasties I'd say I preferred the Nacho Chilli Cheese one, it was soooo good and I love the subtle heat from the chilli Overall a lovely time!

Always have good service in here. Nice food and drinks. Well located with lots of seating indoors and outdoors.

Only visited for a too good to go bag but seemed pleasant enough.

Costa really needs an update, they all do, they are all starting to look run down now. Prices have gone up and you're lucky to even get a real glass or cup these days! Also on a rainy day why is the aircon on, high making it a cold environment to sit in?

Only popped in for a drink, had our own reusable cups, using them we received double beans towards our free coffee. Well worth investing in your own cup. The staff were very pleasant, all the tables were cleared and cleaned promptly. Nice place to visit

Food came quick and tasted nice, but the shop itself is quite crowded.

Not sure who reads these as other reviews have not had responses. Anyway all I will say from my visit is dirty tables, dirty floor, not enough staff. All in all not a great advert for Costa.

It is a Costa. My rating is always based on how easily one can get an empty table. In this case, we were fortunate to get the last clear one. I didn't see tables being cleared by staff, but that may be a skill in doing it unnoticed.

I regularly use this branch of Costa. Without fail the staff are cheerful helpful and welcoming. Always got a smile and a cheerful welcome. The tables and customer areas are always clean and tidy. Always a pleasure to call in for my coffee. Without doubt the best Costa team I've ever had the pleasure to meet. The food and drinks are always well presented and served with care. I always leave that little bit happier than when I went. The staff will know me as the fella with the purple/ pink beard

I was asked twice what I wanted. All staff seemed new I'd not seen them before. Told the girl the drinks were drink in then got served in take away cups. As they seemed overwhelmed just took them and sat down. Will make sure I'm understood next time I'm in there.

Server with blue hair was rude and unhelpful shall not return again will go to High street store

No smiles everything an effort and no toilets

Its a Costa. You love coffee, you'll love it. I'm not a big fan so have the hot chocolate - not keen on their fancy Tolborone or Orange chocolate ones, so stick to the basics. Also had a tuna paninni which was tasty and some Rocky road cake, which was OK. Always over priced but slightly better than MacDonald's.

We didn't eat and the poor girls were under staffed so we had to have takeaway cups but not their fault and the coffee was great as always

What an absolute mess! Tables looked as though they hadn't been cleared for hours. So unhygienic with cups and food cartons strewn all over the tables and in the 10 minutes I stood at the till no one made an attempt to try and clear it. Even outside where tables had been cleared it had just been stacked on a service area outside. Again unhygienic. Really need to sort this out as tables were sticky and he not been wiped.

Had appalling customer service today. Was told they only had paper cups as something wrong with the dishwasher. I saw stacks of cups on top of the coffee machine. When I asked if I could have one of those I was told that they were dirty. They looked perfectly clean to me. When I complained I was told to go elsewhere. Charming! So rude. She obviously didn't have customer service skills. I love Costa but would never go to the Chelmsford City Centre one again.

Did not feel welcome, they got the order wrong and made out it was my fault. Finally no toilet roll and tables left uncleared. This is my first negative experience of a Costa.

Clean, spacious with friendly staff. As normal great coffee and carrot cake. Table cleaned, sanitized as soon as you finished with it. Recommend.

Excellent service. All other coffee places had closed (4.45pm) but Costa is open to 6pm and decent amount and choice of food & drinks even at that time. Service was superb. I think it was Molly, Christina and colleagues (or Holly, sorry). Very friendly and kind. Thank you!

Rude and inconsiderate staff - never going back here again. Doesn’t take much for some kindness and compassion, which a certain staff member does not have.

I’ve tried giving this costa a go a few times now and each time I’m appalled how unfriendly the staff are and what awful customer service there is. This time I did have one friendly girl who served me but I dared to ask a question to another dark haired girl who I’ve seen before and had same experience before and she was pulling faces and raising eyebrows to her colleagues. Totally rude and unbelievable that’s why I’ve decided to write a review. When I asked if my table could have a clean as had food all over it, a girl came along with a damp dish cloth and wiped it down. She had been using it on all tables without spray. I’m not precious but we are in COVID times now and with my job I have to clean all my people areas thoroughly. Food and drink were fine but such an uncomfortable atmosphere and unbelievable. I won’t try again!

I love Costa and have always been impressed but the Chelmsford outlet has me worried with the pandemic going around. While there I never once saw anyone wipe down a table or sanitise anything. We sat outside and used our own tissues and gel to wipe down a grubby table. OK, coffee was good but guys, get your act together please.

Clean and tidy. Covid19 screens good but letting people in without masks. No one on the door checking customers. Hand sanitizer available.

As with all Costas it is a throughly mediocre experience. I don't drink coffee but I'm told it's quite good at this Costa, however the service is below par but on the plus side the New York style vanilla cheesecake was very good, even if it is bought in.

The staff were polite and friendly. The hot chocolate, although containing about a zillion calories was a treat for me and tasted absolutely delicious. The tables were clean and tidy and the atmosphere was very warm and friendly.

A larger Costa with plenty of comfy seating inside and a large area outside, should the weather warm up. As it is in the middle of a busy shopping area the queues can be long and the service a little slower. Usually it is pretty good but, like most Costas, clearing and cleaning of tables could be made a bit of a priority.

Typical Costa fare, but with usual poor selection of gluten-free foods, particularly savoury items.

Nice cosy Costa with a large downstairs, upstairs and outside areas. Staff and service here are very good and the cleanliness of the place is great. Usually fairly busy and easy to understand why due to the consistency of quality of food and beverages they produce

best place ever for coffee chat and chill.

A large Costa which has a very relaxing atmosphere making it a nice experience. When we sat at a recently vacated table it was cleared and cleaned immediately. The member of staff was very friendly and made a point of chatting to us. A nice place to visit.

If you fancy a good flavoured cup of coffee then this is the place for you, the baristas are very friendly, they have a good selection of snacks & cakes all of which can be purchased for a very reasonable price.

my cousin recommended it. there was no alcohol. the ambiance is not bad and tesco is nearby. i think it is a village place which makes costa feel nice 2002 actually

Costas are all pretty much the same. But this one always has long queues and there's never enough staff

No toilet roll in the toilet at 10am, as it is, the toilets are so tiny, it is hard to fit in the door, disappointed.

Not the best Costa in Chelmsford, toilets really need to be bigger - ergonomically some people won't be able to use them. Atmosphere is ok though the staff could do with being a little more cheery as they seem slightly stressed...
