Costa in Chelmsford

I came here today (29/09/2024) at around 3:30pm with my young son, the lady behind the counter offered an excellent service, she was kind to my son and went over and above to provide him with a drink he would like. Its not often I see genuine acts of kindness, so it is appreciated when it happens. Thanks again.

Popped in for a cold drink when in Chelmsford very warm that day had air conditioning service was very good and friendly and quick.

have been insulted by one of the manager in this store, simply because I told one of her colleagues that the toast is granary toast and not brown! Didn’t ask or want any refund or exchange!! This is not ok! How a big chain of stores is hiring unprofessional rude and arrogant people! She said she was off for 5days and that she is not happy to be back to work and that’s why she can’t control herself and insulting her colleagues and the guest!! I can’t write what she called me and how she use her words to insult me but if I get someone to email me I’ll let you know exactly what she said and this is not ok! I was shocked when I heard that and when I asked her to repeat what she said! She had no shame to say it again!

Don’t order anything from Costa Coffee via Uber Eats!!!! They take your money if the food isn’t available and tell you to get a refund from the app which is impossible!!! This is the second time this has happened to me with this shop.

Been buying Costa coffee for 10 years or more & never had a complaint (unlike certain other coffee chains). Still the best in town & totally reliable. Server Hannah in Chelmsford was charming and helpful. A very pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

This is my favourite Costa to go to at Chelmsford. Always good to connect with the Costa team who provide the services, amazing lot! Perfect place at the city centre and gives you an opportunity to relax and enjoy it.

The staff in this particular Costa are the best in any coffee shop I've been to. So friendly and personable, great service with a smile. Much appreciated during a manic last minute Christmas shopping trip.

Costa is one of my favourite places to have my coffee. It's always my first choice when I think about having a coffee. They have a good and respectful staff with a clean atmosphere. If you order a coffee for example and it's not the exact thing which you ordered, they will just change it in a very respectful way even if you drank some of it, it’s happened to me. One of the most amazing and different points is about their Costa Card if you have it, after having 10 coffees there you’ll get a free coffee.

We popped in for lunch while doing our groceries and got to try their new seasonal products. The Maple Hazel Hot Chocolate and Latte, the Nacho Chilli Cheese Toastie, Hog Roast Toastie and Caramel Apple Tart! The new drinks were so delicious, especially if you have a sweet tooth these really are worth trying! Out of the two new toasties I'd say I preferred the Nacho Chilli Cheese one, it was soooo good and I love the subtle heat from the chilli Overall a lovely time!

Always have good service in here. Nice food and drinks. Well located with lots of seating indoors and outdoors.

They gave a toastie with some horrible meat in instead of cheese and beans. First time ordering from the store, not happy at all.

Only visited for a too good to go bag but seemed pleasant enough.

Costa really needs an update, they all do, they are all starting to look run down now. Prices have gone up and you're lucky to even get a real glass or cup these days! Also on a rainy day why is the aircon on, high making it a cold environment to sit in?

Only popped in for a drink, had our own reusable cups, using them we received double beans towards our free coffee. Well worth investing in your own cup. The staff were very pleasant, all the tables were cleared and cleaned promptly. Nice place to visit

I got given no straw with my drink and my toasty a bit on the cold side.

None of the hot chocolates were labelled, resulting in someone with a severe dairy allergy having to not consume their drink.

Food came quick and tasted nice, but the shop itself is quite crowded.

Not sure who reads these as other reviews have not had responses. Anyway all I will say from my visit is dirty tables, dirty floor, not enough staff. All in all not a great advert for Costa.

It is a Costa. My rating is always based on how easily one can get an empty table. In this case, we were fortunate to get the last clear one. I didn't see tables being cleared by staff, but that may be a skill in doing it unnoticed.

Everything was perfect. No complaints at all.

I regularly use this branch of Costa. Without fail the staff are cheerful helpful and welcoming. Always got a smile and a cheerful welcome. The tables and customer areas are always clean and tidy. Always a pleasure to call in for my coffee. Without doubt the best Costa team I've ever had the pleasure to meet. The food and drinks are always well presented and served with care. I always leave that little bit happier than when I went. The staff will know me as the fella with the purple/ pink beard

I was asked twice what I wanted. All staff seemed new I'd not seen them before. Told the girl the drinks were drink in then got served in take away cups. As they seemed overwhelmed just took them and sat down. Will make sure I'm understood next time I'm in there.

Server with blue hair was rude and unhelpful shall not return again will go to High street store

Always a joy to go for a Costa coffee

No smiles everything an effort and no toilets

Its a Costa. You love coffee, you'll love it. I'm not a big fan so have the hot chocolate - not keen on their fancy Tolborone or Orange chocolate ones, so stick to the basics. Also had a tuna paninni which was tasty and some Rocky road cake, which was OK. Always over priced but slightly better than MacDonald's.

My hot chocolate had leaked on its way so I didn’t receive it and had ordered a packet of crisps which did not get delivered.

Costa simply do the best coffee of any chain café. The food can be a little pricey but you pay for the quality. I had a croissant, dough knot and a passionfruit tart. All three were incredible. I also has an Americano which was delivered still hot (I'm about 2 miles away from the café). I would recommend ordering from here everytime.

Very poor customer service Very rude and not at all helpful. Dirty tables and cups everywhere 😡

No issues with the driver. however our drinks have arrived as what I can only assume is blended milk and ice. We were supposed to get 2 salted caramel frostinos which are advertised as as with coffee, whipped cream and sauce, none of which we received in our drinks. Confusing as yesterday I ordered the same thing and had 2 brilliantly made drinks that were delicious.

What an absolute mess! Tables looked as though they hadn't been cleared for hours. So unhygienic with cups and food cartons strewn all over the tables and in the 10 minutes I stood at the till no one made an attempt to try and clear it. Even outside where tables had been cleared it had just been stacked on a service area outside. Again unhygienic. Really need to sort this out as tables were sticky and he not been wiped.

Awful food hasn’t arrived even though it said it has been delivered and there are no phone numbers to speak to an actual human being.

So annoying that the drivers don’t take care so they spill drinks everywhere

Had appalling customer service today. Was told they only had paper cups as something wrong with the dishwasher. I saw stacks of cups on top of the coffee machine. When I asked if I could have one of those I was told that they were dirty. They looked perfectly clean to me. When I complained I was told to go elsewhere. Charming! So rude. She obviously didn't have customer service skills. I love Costa but would never go to the Chelmsford City Centre one again.

He left my coffee on the floor outside while it was raining!!!!! I want a refund!!

Half my much was missing! Phoned and v Costa said the delivery driver had left a bag behind! Just dismissed me and told me to go to Just Eat. COSTA are supposed to hand over deliveries properly and all just Eat did was refund me for the missing items! NOT helpful when a diabetic needs lunch. Absolutely hopeless.

Lovely lady at the till yesterday that served us, we stayed for a while cause we was waiting for our car to get fixed. The staff was very through and clean with the store. :)

Coffee dirty tables particularly outside disappointing

Had a missing drink, all the lattes were lukewarm and not even sure they were the purple one- just tasted like a normal latte, and the mince pies weren’t the gluten free vegan ones, so waste of time really

Did not feel welcome, they got the order wrong and made out it was my fault. Finally no toilet roll and tables left uncleared. This is my first negative experience of a Costa.

Clean, spacious with friendly staff. As normal great coffee and carrot cake. Table cleaned, sanitized as soon as you finished with it. Recommend.
