The best restaurants in Boreham and The Leighs Chelmsford East of England

We visited as a family for my dad’s 80th birthday celebrations for Sunday lunch. We had a fantastic table for 12 of us in a separate room but still felt very much part of the restaurant. The decor was lovely and the ambience and music made the day really special. The service was spot on, and the staff were really friendly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, starters were really nice and the Sunday roast was delicious. This is our second visit, and we will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

From the ambience to the food to the staff, everything was absolutely amazing and faultless. Special mention to Elena and Jenny, who served our delicious food, and Max at the bar, who crafted some amazing cocktails. There are many more staff members whose names we didn't catch, but they all contributed to a wonderful experience. To all the staff at The Lion, you work so hard, and it does not go unnoticed. Very good service and food, Nothing not to like. I’ve eaten at a lot of Turkish restaurants and this is up there with the best.

Made a huge mistake trying this for breakfast, just not good enough, eggs royal with no smoke salmon, wait ages, won't ever make the same mistake again...

Nice venue, decent service. Great tasting food. Easy to access with parking available outside. The food ordered was extremely delicious and the portions are good size. The deserts are very tasty. The service is fine, just what you expect. Overall good experience.

Recommend this hotel. All staff we encountered were very friendly, without exception. Husband chose cooked breakfast, but mushrooms had run out. Chef offered to bring some over to our table once cooked - exemplary service. Suggest your motto might be "going the extra mile is standard for us".

Had lunch here midweek during half term. Lovely warm welcoming pub, friendly staff, prompt service. I ordered the bacon, Brie and cranberry panini which was very tasty. Friend ordered tuna jacket potato which looked amazing! Big potato lots of filling. Drinks were ordered and brought to table promptly. Will visit again highly recommended

Lamp broken in room, shower not working properly, bin dirty in bathroom....
