Just went there for a meeting. Easy to get to. Nice looking place.

Great food, fantastic atmosphere, and an amazing team. Mel and the rest of the staff were brilliant, making our dinner a truly enjoyable experience. We’ll be returning for sure!

Had a lovely Friday evening dinner, Mel was our server and she was great, really friendly and made us feel very welcome!

Part of the Chef and Brewer chain of pub restaurants. Good food and pleasant surroundings, friendly attentive staff on hand to help. Decent prices, plus they accept Tesco clubcard reward vouchers. This particular restaurant is partnered with the Premier Inn next door so could potentially be busy at breakfast time. We had a return visit and were expertly looked after by Mel, who was attentive and very pleasant. Food was great as usual.

We booked to come here for a birthday, Granted I did book at the end of January . The whole restaurant was over capcity trying to seat as many people as possible obviously for the £££ BUT the food took well over an hour to come out. We ordered our food and deeply disappointed the sea bass was more like sardines. The lamb shank shepards pie was supposed to come with creamy cheesy mash but tasted like Smash but don't get me started on the vegetables, they were not cooked but been dumped under a heater and made them very very chewy and dry. Childrens burger was literally a burger cut in half no cheese or sauce. We have all agreed not to come back again.

Had a great time, food was really good had the pork belly and the cheese and bacon burger so worth it!! Mel was so sweet and helpful!

Unfortunately not enough staff, manager took the morning off, knowing that he had a large booking Saturday morning. Staff on duty were really helpful and did there best under the conditions. But the pub does need more staff or to find a new manager that knows how to run pub, we won't be returning after waiting over an hour&half to get our lunch.

The grill was off due to a fire 🔥so I couldn't have a steak or the mixed grill. I'm very disappointed . Had to settle for the ham hock, which, as you can see from the photos, was not the most appetising even with the sprigg of rosemary. I wouldn't recommend this place, which is a shame as the service was okay.

5 of us ate 2 vegetarians, 1 child . Manager Cam is really helpful and always friendly, Good choice for vegetarians,

Had an absolutely terrible experience here today and will never return. Booked Sunday lunch for 3 pm for 3 people. Online there was a lot of availability so didn't think they could be excessively busy. On arrival had a drink while waiting for table to be cleaned. We were seated fairly quickly and our order was taken. Two roast trios and one meat pie. Trios were ordered with beef well done. It was 55 minutes before the food arrived and the waitress said they were beef. On correction she said they're trios and the other meat was underneath but the crackling was missing. There was 1 small slice of meat and the beef was very pink. As we were starving we decided to eat and leave the meat but at the first mouthful, the meals were cold! Called over the waitress and she took them away to be heated. They were returned and on the first mouthful my daughter had to spit out the contents. There was something in her food that looked like a plaster and smelt strong, like petrol. Pushed our plates aside and called the waitress who looked at the foreign body and took the plate away. She returned saying the chef thought it was the outer skin of a garlic clove, but it certainly didn't look like it. She said she would deduct the meal price but we didn't want to pay for any of the food as we hadn't eaten it. The manager came over who's attitude was unbelievable. He seemed to find this funny. He said he didn't know how the meals were cold as the kitchen is hot! He said the long wait was because they were busy. He then asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu to which I replied, what an sit here for another 3 hours. We left very hungry and just paid for drinks. If a restaurant has a wait of an hour, bookings should not be taken and customers should be told of this The standard and layout of the food was very substandard. A lot of cabbage thrown on, 4 small potatoes. No offer of sauces such as apple or cranberry. And unexplained foreign bodies in food. The entire experience was horrendous. The staff and manager are definitely not customer service trained. I will never return.

Nice pub, good selection of food at reasonable prices and fairly portioned. The beef Wellington special was nice but was more of a pie with beef filling

Nice venue, decent service. Great tasting food. Easy to access with parking available outside. The food ordered was extremely delicious and the portions are good size. The deserts are very tasty. The service is fine, just what you expect. Overall good experience.

Our server Leah was excellent. Very busy night, some waiting, possibly short staffed but Leah kept things ticking over under pressure with a smile and a cheery disposition.

Good to see a pub busy. Most tables full but the empty ones were full of uncleared plates. Walked to bar ready to wait as its busy- no reaction from bar person. Waited at bar- no reaction of any kind from staff walking past. Tried to get response from behind bar- a " with you in a second" would have justified a wait. The Marketing team is great to get a nearly full pub. The Service team needs some basic training. No reaction as I walked out and found a pub wanting to welcome customers And perhaps an extra star for Cameron stepping forward and explaining why they were not good😉

Had a great 4 course set meal for Burns Night last, good attentive waitress (thanks Jacqui) good price too. Venison was brill

Food was amazing- possibly best steak I’ve ever had!!! Shout out to Pete the chef - very talented!!! and Mel our server was super friendly and helpful - Cam the manager gave us great advice about the wine 🥰❤️ will definitely be back

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Grange! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. A special shoutout to our waitress, Mel, who truly went above and beyond to make our evening perfect. Her friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care made all the difference. She was attentive without being overbearing and ensured everything was just right. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance, The Grange is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Jac was superb in seeing to our every need. A great lunch and great environment to catch up with friends.

Mains were nice, desserts were very average. The apple pie didn't much resemble an apple pie. A thin layer of pastry acting as a bowl for what was pretty much apple puree. Very odd. Was a very nice evening however, tables aren't too ontop of eachother and the staff were lovely.

Some friends and myself went to the Grange in Chelmsford for a Christmas meet up/dinner on Monday the 23rd of December and had a wonderful time there. We enjoyed our food and felt the meals were well portioned, though at times we felt the communication with food was off as we were receiving our mains while still eating our starters, but overall we weren't unhappy about this. Our server Mel was very lovely and kind and making sure we had what we needed for the table while also checking we had enough drinks throughout the evening. The atmosphere is very cosy at the Grange which we personally loved and plenty of options for different styles of seating if we wanted to return for a different occasion. Thank you Mel and the Grange for a wonderful meal!

As usual we all enjoyed the food and felt very comfortable in The Grange. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and Kim (Mary) was, as always, very pleasant and caring. Thank you. We look forward to returning in 3025. Happy New Year!

Food was ok but took a very long time between courses. It wasn't very busy so I can't imagine it was rushed in the kitchen. Nice venue that has the potential to improve.

We visited for Breakfast With Santa. The breakfast menu was good - lots of choice without being overwhelming, and when the food came out it was hot, well presented and delicious. It was nice to see some dishes beyond the usual English breakfast offerings, and little touches like the smoked hollandaise on the Benedict elevated things. it was not clear on the menu that you could add items to your order, but the waiting staff were really accommodating when we asked. The service was a little slower than usual, but completely understandable given we were at a busy event, and the waiting team did an excellent job. The stand out moment for me came when my 6 year old started crying when her breakfast came out because it had baked beans and they were touching everything. The waiter didn't even hesitate, was really kind to her, and whisked away her plate to replace it. The whole event was so well organised, and even though they were busy, we felt neither rushed nor neglected, and it had been well planned. Our table has crackers and activity sheets on it, and a pre-printed letter to Santa template. Once you had eaten breakfast, you were taken to a quiet area to meet Santa - we were kept informed, once we had finished eating, we were told when it was our turn next. The Santa meeting was lovely - there is no queue, so you don't feel hurried, and he took the time to have a good chat with the children - importantly for me, there was no talk about naughty/nice. We were given two gifts, one to unwrap at home, and one to open sooner, and I was impressed with the quality - no plastic tat. Santa also took the time to mention that he would do his best to bring the presents he had been asked for, but couldn't promise, and would definitely bring something nice for them. (Just as well as my youngest wants to go and live in Ryan's World for her present!) Santa also asked if we would like photographs at the end, and we didn't feel rushed at all. This was our first year at the Breakfast with Santa experience, and we will be booking again next year.

A very nice cozy family friendly pub, good food and drinks, friendly staff, good decor, nice terrace and subtle music playing all around the pub,I recommend a visit.

I always enjoy going there , parking easy , that's during the day , food good , atmosphere layed back and friendly , also dog 🐕 friendly .

Wanted one glass of Prosecco, list says that’s possible but when you ask they only sell by the bottle. Shouldn’t be allowed to list it as a glass if it’s not actually available.

Starter of garlic mushrooms was only luke warm with not very nice sauce, little taste of garlic served on soggy bread. Main course of mushroom pie had mushy carrots and raw broccoli with it. As with starter, only luke warm. Sherry trifle was nice. Charge of £70 for 2 meals and 1 drink each for me and my wife was not justified.

We meet with family at the grange. We had a great welcome, service from our waitress Mel was excellent she made sure all was ok with every thing, didn’t hound us but did ensure we had what needed and wanted, didn’t wait for any thing long. Food was outstanding, hot, tasty, enough of it but also didn’t feel was too much. Well presented. The pub itself was clean well presented and a lovely fire which really helped with a great atmosphere. Will be going back again

Lovely Christmas menu, generous portions, superb stuffing and roasted veg. Great Camembert starter, not been here in nearly 20 years and it has vastly improved, so much so we’ll be back. Lovely service from young lady who was manning the bar as well!

Had such a great night here! We were a group of 30 and were looked after incredibly well by Chloe who was very patient and kind with all of us. Food was delicious and there was just a lovely atmosphere. Thanks Chloe for a lovely evening and thanks also to Cameron on the bar for giving us the best welcome!

We had a group function of 21 this week and it was great. The service was excellent; the food excellent and was delivered all at the same time to the party. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Jac Ellie Dan Pete Kim and Gem for making the night go so well. Cannot recommend this venue enough.

The food here is 10/10. Professional and speedy service by Jac even though a 20+ party of guests arrived to celebrate a birthday. We eat at Chef & Brewer pubs regularly during the week, the menu is the same at each but,this is the best pork belly we have enjoyed out of all the C&B pubs up and down the country! Simply the best 👌

With a party of 21 people, most restaurants would have struggled to get out hot food altogether. Not the staff at the Grange. Absolutely amazing staff support. Happy to help at every turn. Great food is served here. Everything from veggie and fish options to hearty meat pies. Good sized portions and super tasty desserts. Thank you to the front of house and chef team. Recommended highly.

The service by Jackie was very good. We had the roast on Sunday 20th October but although the turkey and roast potatoes were lovely, the cabbage, Savoy, was under cooked (I hate Savoy), the food wasn't very hot. The dessert was gorgeous. The table we were given was in a very noisy corner with a very noisy family. Surely they could have a separate section for people with kids!! I asked for a quiet table away from draughts but that didn't happen. All in all, if the food had been hot, served quicker and less noisy, it would have been more enjoyable.

Great food very friendly staff. Could be slightly quicker with service, but the food is so lovely they are getting busier and busier so understandable. Mel our waitress was great and packed up our left overs for the dog

We came for a dinner with 13 of us. Restaurant was very quiet but sadly the service was extremely slow. Took ages to even get served then had to wait an hour and a half for food. One of our party was told twice that the food she had ordered was no longer available. When she of told at the start. Food was all ok when it finally arrived. Sadly the attitude of our server was awful. She was incredibly rude to more than one of us. The shift manager did come and apologise at the end. Which means we would maybe give the place one more chance.

Service was slow. Waitress Mel was rude, after 2hrs when we asked for the bill. Mel commented that the next table had been waiting to order their food. If she was quicker, she should have taken their order We wouldn't have to hang around for 20mins for the bill.

Had breakfast here this morning cooked by Dan and it was lovely! Poached eggs beautifully cooked and wonderful presentation! The service provided by Cameron was brilliant and very professional, even catering for our puppy. We had a great experience and will definitely return! Thank you!

I am a very fussy eater and I am not the easiest person to cater for but both Jacqui who served myself and my sister and chef Ant went out of their ways to accommodate me. I had very specifics and each one was taken into consideration and a dish was prepared for me which was first class and the Italian merlot house wine went down a treat too. Steak was med rare, exactly how I like it, dry grilled,,,no fat at all, excellent!

Sunday 29th September 2024 at 7pm. Great little(not so little) pub and grub place, stayed at the travelodge next door so was a great surprise to have this place footsteps away. The food was really good and was catered for gluten free options too, today we had the trio of meats Sunday roast including beef/pork/turkey, it was very substantial in size too, we had extras including colliflower cheese and pigs in blankets(two almost full size sausages in bacon). Price of the food was also very reasonable for the quantity. £16.99 for the roast alone. In total the bill for 2 including drinks and extra sides was £82.50 which incorporated 2 large wines, 1 1/2 pints of beer and 2 large whiskies and two sides. The server was called "Kim" and what a lovely young lady she was/is, very knowledgeable and very attentive and very curtious. Thank You Kim for making our meal even more decent on a day we had travelled 5hrs for a wake. If we had to come this way again it would be a pleasure to have another meal here. Neal and Sally.

We had Sunday lunch for around 20 people for my mum's 85th birthday. The staff were fantastic, particularly, Megan who looked after us very well. The food came out for everyone at the same time and the drinks orders were done for efficiently. I would go again without hesitation.

Large restaurant, friendly staff (thanks Mel for your attention), a little lacking in ‘atmosphere’ but it it a wet Monday evening.

Shout out to Cam, he went out of his way to make sure our neurodivergent son was comfortable with his surroundings, he was patient and accomodating in his approach.

We visited as a party of 5 for my birthday on Sunday, and they very thoughtfully gave me a birthday card (a personalised hand written one not just a generic one, very impressed, thank you). The food was lovely (although there was a small issue with one meal). Service was attentive but not intrusive. We would like to mention one young man, and I believe he was the manager. Very welcoming from the moment we stepped in the door. Talk about customer service done right. Half our party was already seated, but he immediately asked what we wanted to drink so he could follow us to the table with the drinks. He spoke to us after the meal as we were leaving and was apologetic about the small issue. We all left saying what a credit he is to the pub, and what good customer service he provided. Well done 👍

I would like to thank the staff at the Grange for a lovely meal on Saturday evening. We were served by Leah, who was very professional and ensured we had everything we needed. Yeah was very informative and ensured we had a pleasant evening in the Grange.

We just visited with my parents and children and had excellent service by Mel, she has looked after us on several occasions and always really looks after us and nothing is too much trouble. Food was good, children's portions a little bit small, but overall good.
