Came here with 4 mates on a busy Saturday evening. Great friendly service. Food was very nice, everyone had different dishes and all were very happy. Good value here too.
Visited with a group of friends and children. Atmosphere was friendly & welcoming. Drinks were good but the latte just tastes like semi skimmed hot milk! It was a take away so couldn’t approach anyone to give feedback. Definately as others have stated, they need barista training. I asked for a “wet” latte and she asked, what’s one of those? Surely if your a trained barista and know your coffee you’d know a “wet latte”. Cold drinks are ok and food is nice but very pricey for what it is. We would go back but not for a coffee!!
Stayed at the nearby Travelodge and called in for breakfast on the Monday morning and were terribly disappointed to find it was shut. Not only that, but it did not appear to have been opened for some time.
Poor atmosphere- could tell it was filled with locals, and therefore the owner seemed very hostile towards me as a new customer. Very cramped environment, could tell it had been overbooked. As well as this, a drink I ordered did not come to my table yet I still received a charge. Very bad, will certainly not be returning.
Atmospheric little cafe in middle of small retail sellers - arts and crafts etc. Food reasonable, service friendly but surprised later to read that food and hygiene rating is still only 2, with improvement required. I don’t see any changes from last time I visited.
Ordered our usual with extra as had a friend around . Very dissapointed with the chow mein and rice. There was no taste with the chow mein, and the rice was stodgy. The chicken curry was chicken in a curry gravy, awful! Be a while now before we try there again! It's usually very good but bad few items.
Birthday luncheon, we hadn't planned to come here, we met a butcher at Rutland show, he had just opened a bistro in Sherwood, unfortunately is was not open today.
Being probably the hottest day of the year I did not want to travel too far, we have seen Launay's on a previous visit to Edwinstowe.
We were the on dinners in the restaurant. I found the chairs a little too low and not quite supportive.
Starters which we share were salmon wasabi pea puree and fennel citrus sperified balls, absolutely fantastic then chorizo cumberland and a wonderfully cooked egg.
Mains, fried pulled pork and a sousvide steak, I had to try it because I sousvide at home, however I felt that it lacked taste and was a little dry. the tomato relish was pretty good, served in an old marmalade jar.
dessert was to die for, basil cheesecake with micro lemon balm
Definitely be back to ravage the a la carte menu
This is my second visit to Henderson’s Cocoa House and it is lovely. I went for a chocolate milkshake this time but would also recommend the hot chocolates which are much better than the competitors’! Lovely handmade chocolates too - Whats not to like?
Wonderful coffee shop and restaurant. It is always clean and friendly atmosphere, with lovely coffee and tea. The cakes are yummy and soft - everyone should try the carrot cake (gluten free too!)
The coffee is strong but smooth but you can ask for it weaker if you like.
Not at all like a ‘charity’ shop of coffee shop - somewhere nice to visit
On the night we had food from here the queue was out of the door. This shop has a cafe in the back so service can be a bit slower than usual. They were also managing phoned-in orders and 3 staff absences. CASH ONLY.
Cashier took 4 or 5 orders then food was cooked to order. Ours was good not greasy like previous reviewers.
Cod £4.95 large chips £2.95 so no complaints about pricing.
Would use again.
Wonderful atmosphere and some amazing dishes! We had the Wednesday buffet lunch and tried so many new dishes I wouldn't have elsewhere!
Atmosphere was lovely and staff were helpful describing what Elsies do and the plans they have for the future
I will be back again soon
