The Black Lion in North West Leicestershire

Poor atmosphere- could tell it was filled with locals, and therefore the owner seemed very hostile towards me as a new customer. Very cramped environment, could tell it had been overbooked. As well as this, a drink I ordered did not come to my table yet I still received a charge. Very bad, will certainly not be returning.

Lovely friendly atmosphere on a busy late December evening. Bar person was helpful and knowledgeable helping us choose 2 from a selection of Lilley’s cider which were very nice. We enjoyed our snacks, especially the cheese and tomato flatbread. Generous servings.

Went with friends for a burger night (burger & drink for less than £12!). The quality of the burgers was unreal, super tasty. They are the kind of dirty burgers where you need to ask for more napkins ! The fries were made so perfectly and they kept giving us more dips to enjoy them. We had to wait for about an hour for our food but that allowed us to have a proper catch-up with a drink. The place was packed as they were showing live sport, but it wasn’t noisy or anything. Dogs are allowed and the staff is really friendly. Will return for sure !

Really lovely place that we’ve only just discovered, super friendly staff, made to feel very welcome, great range of drinks, tried food tonight, excellent loaded fries & steak & onion baguette 👍 Never ever seen warm pork scratching before, omg, they are to die for 😋 I think the Black Lion is going to become a favourite of ours 🥰

Best pub in the area, always guaranteed a friendly welcome. Always a good range of real ales on pump. Visited a few weeks ago and the Sunday lunch was fantastic and the cheesecake even better.... I hate cheesecake but thought I would give it a go and ate every mouthful. Incredible! Also visited last night for drinks and burgers. The buffalo burger was amazing, one of the nicest burgers I have had.

Excellent Sunday roast lunch - great food, great service, friendly staff, beautiful village pub great and great value. Highly recommend!

We popped into this lovely pub as it was very close to the air b & b we were staying in overnight.The landlord and lady were so friendly and welcoming as we relaxed in the outdoor area.The drinks selection was excellent (especially the gins!) Will definitely return.

We love this pub. Great for walking the dogs and dropping in for a quick drink. Sitting in the beer garden with the sun shining is the highlight of my summer. Great beers and wine, friendly helpful staff.

The Black Lion is located opposite St Margaret’s church in the sleepy village of Blackfordby just North of Ashby de la Zouch. Tastefully redecorated by Paul and Vicky it is a real ale Pub offering a range of beers spirits and tasty house wines. Bar snacks are available. There is a beer garden and parking at the rear. Supporting many local village activities, the pub also provides live music in the summer, quiz nights and a mobile pizza once a month on a Friday.

Very Nice tranquil surroundings,A log burner, lots of seating, big tv, also nice seating area out side, with low back ground music playing most times i have been out there- Occasional week end entertainment, see board out side- A (Friday)pizza night once a month, yummy! Staff are all warm and friendly, Fast and very efficient, nothing is too much trouble,. Love popping up for a drink or 2 and a large Best ham cob. Oh’ and Ladies ,the loo’s are warm and clean too!. 👍🏼

Welcoming fire, well kept Bass & great selection of gins, dogs welcome, friendly attentive staff & a "honey" of a land lady, very easy to the eye !!

Proper village pub that's in a great location. The pub is decorated very tastefully inside, with a beautiful courtyard garden outside. Well worth checking this one out!

if you're looking for a friendly pub with a warm welcome plus some great real ales you've found the right place.. fantastic landlord and landlady, lovely atmosphere plus if you're a bit peckish you can order a great cheese board too :)

Great Pub and atmosphere. Vicki and the team are always helpful and willing to support our Charity Cycle ride between London to Manchester. A must stop for all cyclists.

Si se servía comida, respondieron sólo en el fin de semana y luego de tapas. . Es de locos, pero que hay que ir. . .No estuvimos.

Went with the grandchildren and parents. Really good selection of dishes to suit everyone. Very reasonably priced. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Would recommend and we will definitely go again.

Small menu; real brit. stuff. Terrific sandwiches; can be toasted. Be warned, they are made from 3 slices of bread with 2 layers of filling! One such does both of us. Have yet to attack a main course, but the pies (home-made in little enamel pie dishes; shortcrust pastry top) look and smell delicious! Food only available 12 to 3 Tues-Sat (with the sandwiches and ploughmans up 'til 9pm)
