We went to Spalding on this lovely sunny morning to the market. The wonderful and very special Carillon was playing, ringing out across the market place and we popped into the Café on the Square inside the South Holland Centre for a coffee and a late breakfast. Well, nearly lunch! (Breakfast is served until 12 noon). We both had a breakfast brioche. Lincolnshire sausage patty layered with bacon and topped with a fried egg in a large and very delicious brioche bun. Probably not the sort of breakfast for every day (!) but super tasty for a treat - the food was lovely, the staff were so pleasant and helpful and the coffee was very good too. Thank you Courtney and Mike and Bailey. And it was very reasonably priced. You can sit in this 1st floor café and look out over the market place and people watch to your hearts content. Go on - treat yourself to good food, great coffee and a nice relaxing time in The Café on the Square.

Had a breakfast there today for my birthday, it's the first time we have eaten there but had heard good reviews so thought we would give it a try. We have had breakfast at lots of local establishments and I have to say we both said it's the best we have eaten for a long while the food was cooked fresh so perfectly hot and the quality of the meat products were outstanding we orded tea and got a full pot which gave us both 2 mugs each, I would highly recommend and will definately be back maybe to try something else from the menu 👍

I am a coeliac sufferer, and so you might think reviewing a bakery is a little ironic, however this morning I had some free time in spalding and I was told that Pacey's have a cafe that serves a gluten free breakfast so I thought what the hell let's go try it. I arrived, and it's a bakery selling all the usual treats that I can not eat. I asked, when I arrived, about breakfast and was directed upstairs to the cafe. Being early in the morning (before 8am) I was the first customer of the day. I was greeted by a cheerful chap who asked me to take a seat, and he would be right with me. I ordered the lite breakfast gluten-free and a latte. Iwas told the hash brown was not gluten-free, but for me that's not too much of an issue. The latte arrived, shortly followed by the breakfast, including four pieces of toast. The breakfast was good, fried egg cooked just right! The revelation, however, was the toast. Being a coeliac sufferer I have tried many gluten free breads and most taste like cardboard some are just toleratable but I wouldn't choose to eat them. This toast however was delicious. I tasted just like bread! I did ask, and they make the bread, so i will now be going back on a regular basis just to get the bread and probably have a breakfast while I am there.

Wonderful coffee shop and restaurant. It is always clean and friendly atmosphere, with lovely coffee and tea. The cakes are yummy and soft - everyone should try the carrot cake (gluten free too!) The coffee is strong but smooth but you can ask for it weaker if you like. Not at all like a ‘charity’ shop of coffee shop - somewhere nice to visit

Why only 2 stars. That's my question. The staff were welcoming and the rooms lovely and warm. Room 28 has an outside balcony, which is nice. Clean and a comfortable bed. I'd personally up there rating to 3. I'd definitely visit again.

The Lincolnshire Poacher is situated in a nice riverside position and is a charming old building. Although the beamed ceilings and white walls attest to age and tradition, the large areas of bare red bricks go really well with the understated, and almost minimalist modern decor that shouldn’t really work in an old pub like this - but does, and they have achieved a modern look with old-fashioned comfort. Service here was welcoming and very good, and the pub is run by a charming couple. We certainly enjoyed our visit.

We have had lunch here probably once a month for some year, and enjoyed the food and friendly atmosphere. The view is great, although I find the the chairs uncomfortable. This time there was a new menu. We always enjoy some salad with a panini or toastie or sandwich. However we were told this was not available - all these options are served only with crisps and coleslaw. Hardly a healthy option! So my husband chose a BLT; (bacon lettuce, tomato) ---- evidently they did have salad! We did not eat the crisps. My husband had a cold drink, and I had tea and I asked for an extra cup for him to have a little tea also. Not Allowed! I don't think we will return. There are other pleasant places to eat in Spalding.
