We have had lunch here probably once a month for some year, and enjoyed the food and friendly atmosphere. The view is great, although I find the the chairs uncomfortable. This time there was a new menu. We always enjoy some salad with a panini or toastie or sandwich. However we were told this was not available - all these options are served only with crisps and coleslaw. Hardly a healthy option! So my husband chose a BLT; (bacon lettuce, tomato) ---- evidently they did have salad! We did not eat the crisps. My husband had a cold drink, and I had tea and I asked for an extra cup for him to have a little tea also. Not Allowed! I don't think we will return. There are other pleasant places to eat in Spalding.

We are frequent visitors to Coneys restaurant in Spalding. Breakfast is a favourite of ours with the best poached and scrambled eggs in the area! Lunch is great also along with their themed evenings when you can have a three or four course dinner. Wine and drinks from their Prosecco Bar just add the finishing touches. We look forward to their new menu which I gather will be out soon.

We visit Coneys on a regular basis. A great range of clothes and gifts along with a large selection of house ware . We finish off the shopping with a coffee or a lovely meal in the restaurant upstairs. Five stars ⭐️

Prebooked the Festive lunch and what a treat it was. The best Christmas lunch I think I’ve ever had. Plenty of food, piping hot, amazing Yorkshire Puddings. So much food we had to take our puddings to go. Staff friendly and attentive, even though it was very busy.

We pre booked a table for one o’clock for afternoon tea. At twenty five past one we still hadn’t been spoken to or had a drinks order taken, and we felt that we were sitting there twiddling our thumbs. As it was an afternoon tea, we assumed that a small range of teas or hot drinks would be offered and that we would choose from a menu but that wasn’t the case. Just before half past one, a member of staff came over to ask us what drinks we wanted but gave us no options and there was no list or menu to look at. One member of our party doesn’t drink tea so asked for an alternative drink and that seemed to cause confusion and the staff member disappeared off to ask. As this was happening, we spied that the afternoon tea platters were being brought out. We started eating and still not a drink in sight yet! Luckily (or perhaps unluckily), the drinks were then brought out. Several of the tea cups were dirty but at least the tea itself was fine. The food however was extremely poor. Firstly, everyone had a mishmash of different items. The afternoon tea platters were shared between two and each platter was missing something that another one had and vice versa. Another issue was presentation and portion size. It was obvious that certain pieces of cake had just been cut into two, which would be fine, but one half was a tiny slither and then the other a big chunk. Also, there was one of something and two of something else. Understandably, we asked for the other items and were bluntly told “no,” which we thought was an attempt at humour but it quickly transpired that it wasn’t. We probably could’ve forgiven the mismatched, badly presented food and poor service if the food was at least tasty but it wasn’t and lots of food was leftover - a rarity with afternoon tea! Our booking wasn’t last minute and the cafe wasn’t super busy so we were a bit bemused as to why they performed so poorly. Whilst we were there we witnessed some other people walk out and complain so this obviously isn’t a lone opinion. We went for a birthday celebration but there certainly isn’t anything to celebrate here.

This place is fast becoming our favourite place for a breakfast treat. Table service is good and food quality excellent. I prefer the breakfast bap of sausage and bacon whilst my wife prefers the vegetarian breakfast. A table by the window also gives us a view of the ducks on the river which is great. We have not tried the prosecco bar yet, maybe ay Christmas!

The view over the river is, in my opinion, the best in Spalding. Since reopening after Covid, it is all table service in the Cafe, which I do think is an improvement. However, on the day we visited it was a little on the slow side. The cafe was very quiet and I think that this is partly due to the fact that people aren't 100% sure that the cafe is open. As far as we could see, there was no signage to advertise the cafe from the outside or the downstairs shop floor. We only had coffee and toast and it was all good. Service, although slow, was friendly. I must say I'm keen to try the Prosecco Bar!!

Had limited gluten free options, As you walk up the stairs, mixing the homeware amongst the cafe and bar does not go at all, half hearted attempt, really needs re planning to attract and keep customers visiting, lots of staff standing around chatting in cafe, shame because it could be so creative and a successful eating place of the whole top floor, Spalding really lacks in ideas and inspiration.

Tried this lovely little cafe for the first time and definitely will be back. So many options to chose from and delicious looking cakes. Large salad served with tasty omelette, great breakfast options and specials. Chocolate orange brownie was delicious and a great price. Difficult not to have more than one cake. Look forward to going back.

This is a little more than just a cafe because they offer excellent cooked meals at lunch times, or you can have a jacket potato with a choice of fillings, they will make sandwiches of your choice or just a cake and coffee. Lovely view over the river Welland and the water taxi. Sit and watch the ducks and swans. Very limited parking at the back and only 2 disabled spaces. Very popular so seating can be limited. Disabled toilets and normal toilets upstairs.

The burgers here are very good. But they never make enough and always run out - I don’t understand how this always happens. On this occasion they also had no chips. Stopped in the end to only have a latte and it wasn’t even hot, just about luke warm. Has gone downhill. Service is poor.

This happy family style café is a great place to meet up with family or friends. It gives good value for money and the surroundings are very pleasant. The main department store is a family business and this shows through to the café. You will often see the retired owner and his good lady enjoying their morning coffee, reading the newspaper and clearing tables. A very pleasant experience!

The quality in produce is second to none compared to that awful place. Well done guys...I'll definitely be back.

Went here for the first time yesterday. The café was light, clean and attractive. We had ordered a table next to the window where we got a good view of the river.the serving staff were friendly and helpful, and as the café was quite busy they worked well.I had chicken goujons, which were good, although the accompanying chips were a bit greasy.Sadly the meal was served on one of those wooden trays which seem to be popularly substitutes for a proper plate.I did point out that I would have preferred a plate but was not offered one. Some of the meals I considered rather pricey for example poached egg on toast at £4.50.But all in all not bad.

A lovely selection of hot and cold food available for a very reasonable price. We had a large bowl of soup each, one with a large granary roll, the other with a plate of sandwiches and salad. I love Hills Department Store which has such a different and modern feel when compared with the usual department stores, with so many interesting items on sale. The Riverview cafe upstairs is a very nice place to stop for a rest and serves excellent all day breakfasts, full or light lunches and excellent value afternoon teas. The one thing all these meals have in common is excellent quality food. The staff are always so pleasant too!

The Riverview Café was an unexpected stop for us as we failed to have tea in our planned venue and happened to see the café as we passed on the other side of the river. Pleasant staff, lovely cakes and a view over the river made this a perfect stopping point on the way back to Leicester. Despite the fact that we weren’t too far from closing time, the place was spotlessly clean so, next time, we’ll come here for snacks from the wide-ranging menu and shopping rather than going on to the impersonal Springfields Outlet.

What a hidden gem !!! Never been here before but my son and I went along for lunch and had a fantastic meal . Attentive staff and the waitress that served us paid my son a compliment about his manners which made my day proud dad moment . I had the mega breakfast and it was cooked to perfection with lovely fluffy poached eggs and decent beans (not cheap catering beans ) spot on blank pudding sausage and bacon and crispy hash browns , no grease on the plate to be found , I was really impressed

Although it states vegetarian friendly the choice is poor. They used to do veggie meals but I was told they was no demand for veggie meals so stopped going. You don't always want panini or prawn jacket spud!!
