The best restaurants in South Derbyshire East Midlands

Food was good shame about the service I was the first of 2 customers in the shop stood their for near on 10min before we got served and to top it off they served the other guy before me ! In my time in waiting they served up 3 donners before mine that where sat there the whole time I waited for mine Basically you guys have no clue on service!

My wife and I have just spent two nights here. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast choices were very good, quality products well cooked and presented. We ate evening meal twice, and were impressed with them both nights. I was particularly amazed at the Smoked Haddock and Prawn Curry with wild rice. I have eaten in many establishments around the world but have to that this was probably the best curry dish I have ever had. The quality, quantity of fish, and taste, were fantastic. Well done Chef Andy ! Lastly I have name drop the wonderful Ruth. To be a truly brilliant customer-facing member of any team you have to have knowledge, empathy, charisma, and a big smile. Ruth has all of these qualities in abundance. She is a real asset to your team, and a role model to any young person who wants to work in hospitality. I trust that you know what a diamond you have. It’s a shame that we could only stay two nights. Thank you.

Manager is unREAL. Such bad attitude towards customers. Asked to remove a picture from their Facebook as we didn’t get asked for permission to post it and I’m a very private person but they out rightly said no and were so unbelievably rude to me. Everyone in the place are really kind to customers apart from the manager who is unbelievably rude. I hope that she sees this and learns to be kind to customers. There’s a reason that there’s never anyone in there. She bars everyone who stands up to the abuse she shouts at paying customers. It’s a horrible environment to be in and I’d suggest going to catchems or the mount pleasant inn which are both down the road. Awful place.

We've eaten from here before and it was good. However, this time was very disappointing. I had the crispy beef strips in batter. I have these regularly from my usual Chinese so I expected them to be similar. Unfortunately they were just batter - I cut into one and it had the thinnest strip of beef in it that I just couldn't taste. Portion sizes were good but maybe focus on the quality of food as opposed to quantity.

Nice food but hidden service charge added when I don’t get why as we paid for them to make it before we took it away so what extra service charge is required ???

My wife and I visited on a Saturday morning after hearing good things about this place but I am sorry to say that we were disappointed with the overpriced breakfast. Small tasteless sausages, cheap black pudding and strange fried eggs. I expected better for £10.95.

Great local chippy. Delivery through their own website was speedy, and everything arrived fresh and warm. Really generous portion sizes, great kebabs, spot on chips, and all very reasonably priced, even including the delivery fees.

We booked a room & breakfast 12 mths in advance for a close family friends wedding. 4 days prior to the wedding we received a cancellation notice from The Unicorn Inn stating there had been a flood which effected multiple rooms and they had had to cancel our booking. Clearly this was not the truth as all rooms at the Inn had been booked by wedding guests, and when we spoke to friends nobody else had been cancelled. On the day of the wedding we had friends confirm that all rooms had been occupied. So the truth was that The Unicorn Inn had double booked and although we booked 12 mths in advance of the date & paid in full by random selection we were the unlucky ones. Thank you for the stress Unicorn Inn for last minute having to find another hotel.

It’s a supermarket cafe,,,we only ever have breakfast type stuff here. Yeah it’s ok, pretty good value & earn nectar points. Full English is good, choose what items you want.

Excellent evening. Have just left here tonight. Fabulous meal and service. Paid significantly more elsewhere yesterday and rate your food and service much better. Had the Christmas menu. Had butternut squash and spinach tart very tasty. Christmas pudding great. Your staff are a credit. The young man that served us tonight was lovely. Very polite.Definitely coming back.

Ordered pepperoni pizza and it came with no pepperoni when I got all the way home. I called up and the person on the phone didn't speak very good English and offered no resolution. Last pizza I will ever order from here again

New to golden dragon nice whst we ordered and hot

Crispy Duck was not crispy as it was submerged in a horrible sauce and all batter-no meat. Chicken curry ordered with onion and extra mushrooms - didn’t get any of them. Really poor value for money - won’t be having food from here again.
