Been using this as my local chippy for years. Usual friendly staff. However this time I had far too much salt put onto my chips. Unfortunately couldn't eat all the portion but I won't let that put me off going again as usually it's decent.

Had a piece of cod last night and some chips was absolutely disgusting the fish was just like mush and the chips were terrible never again

Disgusting undercooked fritters. Couldn’t believe when I bit into them was as if biting into a raw potato and to top things off they were drenched in grease.

Don't think I've ever eaten hot food from there!! Constantly have to reheat my food even though I drive literally 2 minutes to get home! Surely the food can't get that cold in that little time! Older dude seems a nice happy chap but the young lad in there.... wouldn't hurt to crack a smile dude!!

Absolutely disgusting ..ordered large cod and medium chips.. got home cod not large , undercooked.. chips ..god only knows how many times they had been reheated, and way verpriced..avoid .. how they stay in business is beyond me.

Reheated chips, absolutely disgusting chewy and definitely not edible. A total waste of money, no wonder there was no one in there on a Saturday as well!

Friendly staff, chip's ok, pie good

Wondered why the shop was so empty at 16:39. The others probably know that when it is slow you get warmed over food. The fish was soggy.

Thought I'd treat myself to some chips to other week, arrived before closing time and they shut early. Please be consistent with your advertised opening times to avoid further disappointment for any other customers, new or existing.

Ordered Mixed kebab meat and chips, was asked if I wanted sauce and salad? Yes please but can I have salad separately please (as I was taking it away to eat at work and didn’t want the lettuce going soggy) yes you can but that’s extra! What? Why? Because it’s extra packaging to put it in which costs more, Absolutely ridiculous I said just wrap it in a piece of the paper you use to wrap the kebabs and chips (which they always use too much of anyway)!!! Brought the food, which I have to say was extremely average, meat tasted old and dry with very little flavour and the chips were mostly hard and dry, certainly not worth the money, or the extra money for the salad wrapping! I would no eat from here again that’s for sure!

Had pie and chips and can honestly say some of worst ever had! .. Chips looked and tasted like they had been warmed up from yesterday's left overs and pie same.. which was chewy.. not at all happy with it.. shocking

Really poor portion sizes compared to other chip shops in the area I wouldn't recommend this chip shop at all you would be better buying a frozen bag of chips and cooking yourself. Chips are also of poor quality.

Well what can I say hadn't eaten all day felt so hungry I ordered the family meal Wow it was so good ate most of it except for a few chips I recon it will keep me going for a couple of days This fish shop has come on in leaps and bounds recommend it to everyone

They need to make sure the lids are securely on the pots. Had a large peas today, I like them with fish and chips, by the time I got home the lid had come off and the peas had soaked into the paper wrapping. So that large peas was barely enough left for 1 never mind sharing for 2

Cold chips either under cooked or left over from dinner time either way not nice at all this time.

Jacket potato arrived stone cold, literally felt like they took the pre cooked potato out the fridge and chucked it in a pot with some cheese and butter, when I called to make them aware of the situation and to have a replacement sent the person I spoke to was very short and rude with me. Proberbly wont return.

Nicest chips I’ve had in a very long time, and very generous portions too. New owner taken over and the customer service is 10/10. Would recommend to anyone :)

The 9inch kebab box is big enough for 3 people so tasy and worth every penny

We have been a few times, unfortunately my husband doesn't like chips so I don't get to visit often. It's always a real treat. The service is great.

this place simply does the best chips around. so many other fish bars get all the credit but none compares to this . chips are consistently nicely cooked to golden brown. no soggy chips in here. excellent

Was served by a lovely young lady named Libby who was exceedingly polite and friendly. Customer service is brilliant here and will definitely come here again. Food was excellent on top of this.

I visited Church Gresley Fish Bar today while working in the area selected to buy the £2 regular bag of chips instead of a small bag and also bought a large sausage for £1.30 total £3.30 when the bag was handed to me I was surprised first of all with how small the portion was for £2 worth of chips. Originally I was just taking the photograph to say how small the portion was when I noticed a small piece of wire possibly from a scouring pad used to clean the work surface inside the chip shop this is something I did not expect obviously but after that I carefully looked at every single chip that I picked out of the packet incase there was more wire. I didn't go back into the chip shop about the purchase because I had left the area. On the plus side the chips were well cooked

Popped in just for a quick mini fish/chips. The batter on fish was crispy and the fish was pure white and meaty. Chips great, no after taste. Defo will go back.

This is the first time we’ve ordered from here. We had the large kebab box, it was full to the top and still hot when delivered. Will definitely be returning

Can’t rate your kebab boxes enough! Full to the brim of excellent fresh food! Always piping hot and great value for money! Staff are always so pleasant also! Pleased to have such a good takeaway outlet on my estate.

We live locally and have used this chip shop many times over the years but unfortunately I think it has gone downhill. I visited yesterday lunchtime to get chips, sausage and kebab. The woman with blonde hair who was serving lacked any kind of customer service or rapport, she seemed totally dis-interested in her customer interaction as if she would rather be somewhere else, did not smile at all and was barely polite. Not a good start!! The chips we had were average but very small portion for the price, the sausage was ok but the doner kebab was extremely poor, the pitta was toasted too much it was like cardboard, the salad was not fresh, the lettuce had brown bits on the edges like it was about to go off and the pieces of tomatoes tasted like it had gone off, the kebab meat the disinterested woman sliced for me was the rind and was hard on the one side. Overall the doner kebab was terrible and the portion was exceptionally small for the price, hardly any meat and any salad. The admiral chip shop in Overseal are similar in price but their food and portions are so much better quality and far bigger portions. Go there you will get better food and better service.

Slow service, waited ages.....Then the piece of fish I got was so dry and rigid I could hold it up horizontally by the thin end of the tail.... The chips were also dry and tasteless, more of a cardboard texture than chips... & the mushy peas looked like they'd be more suited in Chernobyl than a chippy in South Derbyshire!! 🤮🤮

There was a fight at this chippy last night - the fish got battered. No really.....Lovely food from a friendly place.

Lived locally for 3 months now, tried the fish bar a few times, never yet had a good meal. Constantly waiting for food to cook, the slowest fast food ever, even at prime times he cookes portion by portion virtually...when he isnt in the back on the phone hes in the front with his mobile on his ear not caring about the customers standing about waiting...one day the highlight will be seeing that mobile land in the batter or in the fryer as he cooks while chatting. Portions small for the cost, kebab meat never at a decent temperature. Staff constanty relying on Cos's snail speed reactions to requests for things as he obviously wont allow them to do a thing themselves....every visit has been a total frustration

I called into the Church Gresley Fish Bar yesterday 19/04 at around 5pm, the kids were in need of a little something so I opted for the £2 chip butty,I was amazed to witness the counter staff put half a scoop of chips onto the cob, and then went back in and put another 3 chips on the top,in total and we counted when I got back into the car a grand total of 16 chips.These must have come from the Queens own private reserve they were so scarce either that or the counter staff are on £15 per hour and commission on top, either that or they've just put the business rates up for the new financial year, I could blame Brexit but that would be unfair on the politicians in this caseAnyway this is the second time I have been ripped off by this chippy, the first time I thought it was because they were busy, this time it was just me and a pensioner having his Friday natter, I think I paid for his chips as well !!Never again will my shadow darken the door to this establishment

Definitely won’t be visiting here again. Waiting 20 minutes for a bag of chips, that’s weren’t even nice. No organisation, no food ready, not even chips at a prime time on a Saturday night. Very poor!!

Called here on the way home as we were passing. Not impressed, at all, the fish were very small and had a weird taste, both were wrapped together and a stuck together mess, the peas were bright illuminous green, must have been nuclear waste and were so salty we couldn't eat them, the chips were the only thing edible and again really small portions, can definitely say we wouldn't use again and should have gone to the admiral where its guaranteed decent, good size portions and massive tasty fish...

First disappointing meal we have had from here was tonight.. tray of kebab and chips was awful... only a handful of chips and the kebab was raw anaemic looking meat that was absolutely swimming in fat. Awful. Hope this was just a one off.

Well I visit the fish bar at least once a week.And really enjoy the food.But the girls could smile a bit more.

We have used this local takeaway a few times and can honestly say this will be the last. The kebab meat must have been cut with a bread knife as it was thick, crispy and dry, I should have taken it back, but the last time my partner took back her fish the owner just argued with her. He seems to spend most of the time with his mobile to his ear whilst cooking! I have been to various chip shops and this is the worst quality, portion control and service that I have experienced. Not good in my opinion.

Use this chip shop as it's local . Sadly it's a lottery if you get good food sadly yet again fish freshly cooked but somehow batter like concrete . Had funny taste to it and not the first time had bad stomach and felt sick afterwards . So I've finally learned that this place is a no go and that's my last time. Sadly since we moved to this grotty area I've learned no one can do decent fish and chips .

Nice staff. The food is well priced and they serve a really tasty scallop or fritter!! I really enjoy the chicken kebabs. Just a tip always order on a naan otherwise it's never big enough. My only complaint would be that there is not enough salad or sauce.

Very poor chips, shocking cod bites , all gluten free.

Ordered 2 large cod and batters sausage and realised after a 15 minute wait they had forgot ! We waited all in all around 20 minutes and when we eventually got home we had been given 1 small and 1 large cod. Ridiculous considering there were 4 members of staff working ... total chaos and resulted in making us wait a long time .. paid for large cod and given a small = unhappy and won’t go back !!
