Food Stop in South Derbyshire

I have been using Food Stop Swadlincote for a number of years, but now living alone and when I don't feel like cooking it is now my go to for a quickly delivered, nice tasting meal. I tend to go for the mixed kebab which is served with fresh salad in a naan and tasted great, but the Zinger burgers and pizzas are also really good too. I probably use them around twice a month now. Food is always piping hot and delivery is fast and friendly drivers. Even at busy times it's generally less than an hour from ordering to delivery, but quieter times it can be with me in 25 minutes. Online ordering is also simple and I haven't had a bad meal once, so happy to recommend them.

Lucky find with this place. Awesome doner kebab served on a light, fluffy Naan bread which wasn't too heavy or filling. Meat was tasty and nicely cooked and the chili sauce had a nice kick to it without being overpowering. Definitely be back next time I'm up north!

Classic greasy junk food, you get what you pay for and quite a lot of it too. Overall quite nice but 4 stars because it was a bit boring and not many dietry requirements options.

Great service from these guys this weekend. Orderd online 2 pizzas and 2 cokes. Unfortunately they didn't bring the cokes, sonwe called them up and they sent a driver straight out, were honest and apologised for the mistake and gave us a free cake as a sorry. Really nice, thanks guys 👍

What great food and generous portions too, this is a great place if you want a good British staple of pizza and kebab. The favourite food of the Brits drunk or sober lol. It was a complete bountiful of food and we were all left bursting at the seams, it fed all 4 of us no problems and didn't break the bank either. I am looking forward to our next visit, not knowing when that will be as we don't eat out like that to often. Get yourself to foodstop you won't be disappointed 😉 if you like my review then pop me a thumbs up 👍

Truly awful experience; what’s has happened to this place? it used to be pretty good but has really gone downhill from the last time we visited before lockdown. Ordered 2 Lamb Shish at the end of a night, the ordering process was difficult to say the least and when the food eventually came it was awful; the meat was a tasteless mass of gristle with no spices whatsoever, very obvious they’d used the cheapest piece of meat possible. In the end the only thing that was edible was the salad so in effect we’d paid £18 for 2 salads. I’d love to say there was something good about this place but sadly I cannot. Please do yourself a favour and go elsewhere, there are much better takeaways in the area.

Order all the time from this place and they seem to forget any drinks you ordered and ask if you want it next time or say they will credit you but don't

Ordered a meal for me to pick up. Two southern fried chicken meals one with cheese wedges paid the extra for it. Walked down picked it up. Got it home one portion of fries missing. Phoned them up. Stated on the phone this was the first time I've ever used them, just moved into area at Highfield Street. Phoned them up again to say order missing items. Gent replied sorry about that you are literally just a minute up the road I'll drop off a large fries to make up for it. Everyone makes a mistake I thought fair enough, however I'm still waiting for it whilst I'm writing this 2 hrs after the promised delivery. In short this restaurant has lost all of my new business because they just don't care. There are plenty of local take outs that I can try being new into the area. But guess what they will never see a penny from me again.

I ordered 2 pieces of, what they described as southern fried chicken, and thank God I didn’t waste money ordering more. It was unrecognisable, it looked like it had been deep fat fried twice, totally burnt, a mouthful of a greasy burnt coating that was unrecognisable by taste, I could have been eating rat meat for all I knew. I forced myself to eat one because I hate wasting food but I had to except defeat and throw the second one away. It is the first time I’ve ever complained about the state of food but it had to be seen to be believed, they ought to be ashamed.

Really great food, quick service and polite staff

We use this takeaway quite a lot. What can I say? Delivery is incredibly fast and efficient, always arrives way earlier than their estimate. Food is always piping hot. Their burgers are by the best in around, as are their pizza and chicken. Would highly recommend giving these a try.

Food was decent, got free food due to wrong order

Ordered food to be delivered to my house which is 3.0 miles away. When ordered food it said bill was £11.00 so naturally got money ready for delivery driver. Food arrived and the driver requested a further £1.00 for delivery as my house is apparently over 3.0 miles away which google maps has told me it is exactly 3.0 miles away so unless the driver diverted through Burton then he only drove. 3.0 miles. Any who, if my house was over 3.0 miles away then this charge should have been added when initially charged and not thrown upon me when being delivered and as a single mother I felt pressured to collect the £1.00 as the driver was very intimidating.

A year ago I could not say enough good about this place the food service and price. However the prices have gone up the last six orders have been food missing the last order yeasterday food was missing the was an £8 over charge the chips not cooked the burgers had been reheated and where rock hard probability left over from lunch time 24hrs later I have food poisoning avoidance at all costs until they get back to the value reliability and quality they had a year ago if you do order expect poorly cooked leftovers and overcharged with missing order

Foodstop was excellent when they first opened... Then things went downhill. It started with orders arriving with things missing, then I was accused of lying about my cheesecake not being in the bag over the phone. Finally, after being sent chicken wings on a quiet week night that were absolutely stone cold and very, very raw (I cannot describe just how uncooked they were) we will not be ordering again. Please, please, please make sure your staff are reading orders properly before sending deliveries and for crying out loud actually cook your wings.

Came her for lamb kebabs this week after not using for nearly two years for poor service, the kebabs were lovely but the kiddies pop corn chicken weren't the best,will be returning for kebabs tho..

Take no notice of any bad reviews of this place, still the original and best place for takeaway in Swadlincote

Excellent service perfect pizzas and great choice of kebabs with thinly sliced red cabbage which some places have stopped doing to my annoyance .

Kebab now doesn’t come with a nan at this shop. Order was 2 meat kebab with chips and a burger and chips. Order turned kebab meat on chips in a tray, no nan. Burger on its own no chips. Phoned to complain and given the brush off. Don’t buy from this shop.

First visit. clean. Organized. plenty of choice. Very good value for money! The food was spot on! Tasty and good portion size. Highly recommend you try this place. Also a useful parking area!

Came in tonight to fulfill my pregnancy cravings and was left super unsatisfied when normally this isn’t the case. My partner couldn’t eat his food at all was a waste of money his chicken was under cooked it tastes like rubbery jelly. Was really disappointed. I also tried it before he did and immediately spat it out!

Saturday night take away ... was quiet all right for buy one get one free .. 4 pizzas for 24 quid !!! Generous toppings and warm... can't grumble ...

Since moving to woodville we have used food stop quite regularly, The food is always spot on and hot only been a couple of times where the food has taken longer to arrive than normal. My partner usually has the same order but today we went to order and there was no hotdog stuffed crust option and for saying that’s one of the reasons we order from here it is quite disappointing.

was round scotts gaf for drinks n fifa n fancied a dona khabib. we gave um a bell n ordered some food n it took 2 huors to get there. neverseal aint even dat far away. disgrace. khabib wsa gud tho

Ordered online through their website, but some food was missing when it arrived. Contacted twice but no replies. Food was OK, but paying for nothing isn't for me.

The standard of takeaways and restaurants generally in Swad and surrounding areas is so poor, that The Food Stop comes out as one of the better options even with an average rating! My problem with it, as ever, is the shish kebabs. Where I come from, a shish kebab is large chunks of marinated meat, cooked on a skewer, over a charcoal grill. It is served in a pitta bread (I don't know where all this tikka kebab and naan bread nonsense came from!) with lettuce, white cabbage, red cabbage, onion, cucumber and tomato. There is not ONE SINGLE SO-CALLED KEBAB HOUSE in Swad, which makes them like this. All I can say is, at least Food Stop does make an effort (unlike any of the others). You can choose pitta bread and a small salad at least, but again the meat is small chunks, not marinated or skewered and is cooked on some kind of griddle. The rest of the fried food on offer is bog standard takeaway fare, so I'm sure if that's your thing you'll find it okay. Why can't anybody round here make a proper kebab!

First time we've order from here and it was rubbish. It was also the most expensive. Delivery took 55 mins. It was well presented and hot. We ordered kebabs with naan. The naan was thick and tasteless. The Doner meat was cut really thick and greasy. We only ate a small amount. Its not even good enough for the dogs.

You used to be witch a good take away .considering we used to use you regularly and spend a lot I do not think we will use you again will spend my cash elsewhere. Think it is time trading standards did something about you not providing what people pay for and overcharging. And when I phoned to ask for what I payed for all you did was phone me off and not send it.That is fraud to deliberately not send what people pay for how much are you making off people by not sending what they pay for

Great pizza & kebabs. Piripiri chicken good too........ Changed my mind from 1 star to a ZERO. Waited 2 hours from ordering they couldnt explain the delay to me, 45 mins they said.... egg on toast at home and saved 24 quid in the process due to bad management and poor customer service! Shoddy!!!!

We ordered 16 pizza s to come at 2 different times. All came on time ,all tasted beautiful . Only 7 slices left out of 192. Can't be bad. It's a bonus that their "buy one get one free" . Definitely use again

We use FoodStop on a regular basis (1-2 a month) and the quality is very inconsistent. Just received tonight's order (delivered) was a bit of a miss. Website clearly states 'Donner Burger - 1/4 Burger, Donner Meat and Cheese'...... what we got just donner meat and a bun. Rang them to complain and they insist the website doesnt state burger OR cheese, regardless of the fact that I've got their website on the laptop while on the phone!!!

The best kebab shop in the area, kebabs are awesome, burgers and meals are great, pizza are better than dominoes and BOGOF most the time. Kid meals are plenty for children and the prices are very good too. Highly recommended. There can be a wait on delivery though so if recommend fetching if you can

One of the few places you can get Turkish style kebabs. It's definitely improved a lot since I tried it a few months ago.

Ordered from here twice. First time, the food was delivered within about 45 mins and was great tasting. 2nd time i waited for over an hour in a half pushing 2 hours for my delivery so i eventually phoned them to ask what was going on, as i had plans for the night and wasn't waiting any longer.. only to be answered by clueless staff on the phone who didn't know what was going on with the order or themselves.. judging by the other reviews it has happened to a lot of other people aswell.. Shambolic.

They live up to their awards for "Best take away outside London" for is all freshly prepared to order, collect or delivery. Lamb Shish is the best I have ever tasted. Staff are cheerful and hard working.

This place was so much better before it changed hands..we had a take out from here a few days ago..I had a cheeseburger and potato wedges. They had forgotten to put the cheese on it..very disappointed. Prices have been raised and portion sizes have got smaller.

Everytime we call and place an order it comes wrong.. items missing etc..the staff haven't got a clue what your requesting..maybe they should have a menu in front of them so they know what your asking for..better to order online if the website is working okay. Foods okay though

Cold food, took just under two hours to arrive. (Expected delivery time on website was 45mins, and I only live 0.9 miles away!) Soggy chips. When I called to ask where my order was, I was told it was 10 mins away. I rang back 25 mins later to be told it was still 10 mins away, and it arrived 20 mins after that. Complained, and no apologies given. Will NOT be using again.

Pleasantly surprised by the lovely pizzas and very good kebabs. Tried kebabs from a few places and none were as good as the ones from Food Stop. Quite busy when we went in to order and wait for our food although you don't mind if the food is enjoyable!

Waitied nearly 2 hours for food to be delivered phoned only to be told they are short of drivers. Used this place several times. But after the service today will be the last time we use them they have our number and could have called with a simple apology for the lateness shame really great food but tonight's service appalling did recommend this site to a few friends. Will be sure to let them know about our latest experience Lorraine finally delivered our food she totally turned pur experience around. Your lucky to have her. If was not for her we would not use again

Food wrong every time, even after taking ages to take the order. Around 10 people stood behind the counter and they still managed to get all 5 peoples order wrong. Shame as the food is usually nice, just a different meal completely.

We go to Food Stop a couple of times a month say and only be disappointed once when chips were cold and chicken dry. The last twice I have had an Hawaiian deep pan pizza and they were best I've ever tasted anywhere. They were also still piping hot when we got home. My husband also recommends the kofta kebabs but thinks the chips could be improved. On the whole, a great takeaway when your pushed for time.

Been using Food Stop on and off for a couple of years now and have always been happy with the fresh, tastey food - for a while it was easily one of the best takeaways in Derbyshire. Lately it really seems to have gone down hill and the quality of food is very hit and miss, which is surprising considering they were recently awarded best kebab outside of London. I don't know if this has gone to their heads and they no longer value any single customer, but the past couple of times I have been the food really hasn't been great, and the one time I did complain the staff didn't seem bothered in the slightest. When a long time customer calls up and tells you that their food was cold, pizza was like cardboard and severely lacking in sauce and toppings, you should probably listen. I was met with an extremely rude lady that was talking as though she must have been thinking 'how dare they say bad things about our food'. Besides that the kebab was cold and prepared in a very odd way, it was listed as 'special' and it was definitely that, just not in the way they think it is. The driver that delivered the replacement was great and promised to pass on my feedback to the staff in the shop. Whether he did this or not I don't know, but I never received a call back or any kind of discount, let alone an apology. Past deliveries have also seen wraps that have come undone or were never done right in the first place. The last time I used them, they forgot to put a filling in the wrap and so provided it in a plastic tub. I tried to appreciate the gesture, but who wants to take apart a wrap and attempt putting it back together? Needless to say I've given them plenty of chances in the hope that they just had a couple of off days, but I think it's now at the point where I have to stop using them and accept that the once great food is no longer great. Maybe I'll try again a month or two in the hopes that they're customer service and food has gotten back to how it used to be - because it really did used to be that good, which is really very sad.

We enjoy the food from here when we feeling too lazy to cook or fetch food. The kebabs are a bit different to the usual and taste great but they are more expensive than most.

I ordered cheesy wedges, which are more expensive, but got normal. No cheese on Burger when it was supposed to have. I let it go once, but this has now happened twice. Quick, Hot, and good portions, order often wrong.

Love the burgers, best in the area. I'd heard about them winning the award for best kebab in the country outside of London so we tried it, unfortunately the lamb kofte was completely raw through the middle and my kebab was just a bit tasteless- the meat seemed boiled :( Not very large portions either considering the high price.

Dont know whether your face becomes familiar, its the night you go or the differing staff? Chips were 'cold ' and portion size small for a 'large' order Chicken was poor value. Small portion size and more skin and coating than meat
