Lovely fish, chips lacked flavour! Please steer clear of the Cornish pasties It was like eating tasteless cardboard with very little flavour in the filling really disappointed for the price it cost

I have just had 2 gammon meals it was absolutely delicious and tender . I would recommend.A nice lot of salad as well. You could tell it was freshly cooked .

We order from here pretty regularly and it's always been delivered on time and pipping hot! Portions are a decent size and the food has always been delicious 😋 Delivery drivers are nice and polite as well

Been using andys for years and its isually very good, but tonights was aweful. Asked for lg curry which was wrapped then put into a shallow tray, needless to say when i opened it the lid had split and curry was all over the paper...why! Chips were cold and chewy. Worst meal i,ve ever had from there.

Had 2 batters sausages and medium chips from here and price was extortionate £9. Will not be returning again. Appreciate prices have increased bug this was ridiculous

Been going to Andy's for long time now. Have been amazing fish n chips but this time round they were not that good. I don't now if it's the oil they are cooked in. I had a horrible after taste, the batter was a dark colour on the fish and the chips were awful. Thats my opinion so you need try try them yourself. Won't be going back for awhile. Thought I would add this as well. Had a reply to this review. sounds like they was left in the box too long. Really!😂

What to say about this chippy. I was told not to come here due to high prices and bad food but was I right not to listen. I had a fish and chips (both small) and the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My brother had a southern fried chicken burger with bbq sauce and salad and it was just amazing. The prices may be steep but it is definitely worth the price and would 100% come again. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area as this is the best chippy in swad.

I asked for a doner meat burger only to be told they don’t do this, but then I got told she can put doner meat on a soft bun for me!!!! Really, is that not what I asked for to begin with. I then get charged £1.70 for salad to go on my doner burger!!! Then after it’s all wrapped up I get asked if I want salad or sauce after I’ve already asked for it, so then it was unwrapped and very forcibly added a small amount of sauce and a handful of salad! After paying £16 for a burger chips and 4 little pieces of fish I get it home to find the meat doesn’t resemble anything like doner meat. It was dry, bland and very rubbery, like it’s been cooked to an inch of its life! Needless to say I won’t be coming back and I advise anyone who is wanting to try this place not to bother.

So myself and my three girls went over to the festival of leisure at the Maurice Lee memorial park yesterday. I thought we'd pop in here for lunch rather than pay the extortionate prices at the festival, I wish I'd just paid the prices for a burger!! So I ordered the fish and chip special deal at £8.99. The fish was terrible, under cooked, of poor quality, and tiny! The chips were overcooked, and not very nice at all. Two of my children had a kids meal deal of Southern fried chicken, chips and a fruit shoot or water at £4.50 each. Well the chicken was vile, after they'd pulled it apart to let it cool down there seemed to be a jelly like substance between the meat. It looked disgusting, they said it tasted strange, they didn't eat it. And overcooked chips! What a waste of money! My other child had a kids meal deal of sausage and chips, her sausage I think was the only thing that looked decent out of all of our meals. She didn't eat her overcooked chips either. I wouldn't recommend this chip shop. There are far better chippys in Church Gresley. Save your money and go to those ones instead. I only wish I'd taken pictures before we binned the food tbh. And I should have complained at the state of the 'chicken' but the queue had got longer when we were leaving and the children wanted to get back to the festival. Lesson learnt, I'm future I'll always check Google reviews before going into somewhere we've not been before!

Awful!! Worst chips in south Derbyshire

Pass this business often thought I'd give it a try...Paid nearly ten pounds for a mini fish and chips. Fish was less than average and less than a mile away the same meal can be purchased for around six pounds. You only make a mistake once, so won't be going back.

Far too expensive now... about £8 average for a take away meal and the portions are a lot smaller. Plus the chips are tasteless and have been for a couple of years now. It's a shame as its my local chippy and I have to go further afield now.

Great fish and Chips, best for miles

New girl on Order wrong not her fault. Lack of training order a treble burger mix got 3 beef burgers. Not complaining about the new girl she's gonna do her best but it's the lack of training that lets it down. To keep your head high you're doing your best. Good luck

Popped in for some lunch after being in the area for a work trip. The best fish and chips I’ve had in ages! Crispy light batter on a freshly cooked fish and a decent portion of chips for a meal deal price. Hopefully future work meetings finish at lunchtimes so I can return!

Bloody awful chips, dry and hard, ate what i could, didn’t taste that fresh at all, i left the inedible ones. Only ate what i did as i was hungry and didn’t want to waste food. I don’t fancy eating lunchtime leftovers and so don’t plan on returning again.

One of the best chip shops for sure. Fantastic range of food not just your stand fish shop offerings and they offer a great range of gluten free choices.

Popped into Andy’s fish bar for some Gluten Free fish & chips. I wasn’t disappointed and was happy to wait while my food was cooked fresh. The food was delicious but what impressed me the most was the attention the ladies paid to my order. I had asked for some curry sauce to compliment my meal and the ladies were concerned about it containing gluten. I was extremely grateful because my daughter has a severe allergy. Luckily the sauce was for myself but I really appreciated their concern. Thank you

Ordered 2 burgers and chips, it was bang on, tasty burgers, great chips, there was lots of choice there.

We have recently moved to the area and have been trying out different chip shops . This is the one for us , the chips are amazing and the fish batter is so thin and not thick and grease holding. We really enjoyed our food, and won't go anywhere else from now on .

No issue with the food quality just the price. Not worth the money unfortunately.

We are camping nearby and with a relatively new coeliac in the family we came here for tea following a search on the coeliac UK website. The gluten free fish and chips were lovely. The batter was significantly better than ones from other shops. The rest of us had the usual food (daren't say 'normal' as this is likely to offend) and it was really tasty. The fish has lots of flavour and the chips were lovely as well. The shop itself is inviting with a massive fish tank and the kids watched the tropical fish whilst waiting for tea. Staff were really friendly and it couldn't have been clearer which food was gluten free as it they bagged it separately. Big portions. We got 3 large chips for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids who eat adult size portions) and it was too much. The 'small' GF meal was perfectly fine for an adult even though it was for a child, I wouldn't have been able to eat it all. It came to roughly 30 for the 5 of us which is what I would expect to pay for the food we had ordered and anywhere which sells GF food is always a winner in my book! GF food only available Mon, Tues and Wed though so be mindful of that if you plan on visiting. We would def visit this fish shop again. Thanks so much.

Rubbish food pies taste like a week old inedible, fish so over cooked no fish just batter to break your teeth ,chips cold absolutely the worst Friday meal I have ever had packaging over the top it’s not going to make your food better unfortunately all in the bin thank you for my hard working week Friday night meal

Better food all round July 2022 : Update, My son popped in, he took the Andys FishBar and OMG talk about a downhill service. NEVER AGAIN! Chips are tasteless and dry. The best do I have ever hosted came when I asked Andy’s to cater my jubilee street party. Perfectly cooked, piping hot, a fab delivery driver, thank you Chris for making it happen.

Following a recent trip to Athens I wanted to recreate the Taste of Greece, especially (as the Sun has been shining) so I opted for the mixed chicken and pork souvlaki with Greek salad and tsatziki - delicious!

OMG what can I say about this place it’s fantastic, the range of food and taste blows all the rest out of the water would recommend to anybody to try this place

Having been ordering with delivery from here once a week for a long time now. Have now had to source another chippy with delivery as just gone on line to place my weekly tea order for the family to be told that delivery is no longer available to my address!! Well this is on loyal customer that has been lost & will be going elsewhere from now on!!

Very disappointing. Paid over the odds for dried up donner meat and flavourless chips. Asked the guy behind the counter for sauce, which seemed like an inconvenience for him, and he somehow got confused between mint sauce and sweet chilli sauce (which we asked for). Won't be returning anytime soon.

Fantastic to find a gluten free chip shop. Fish was beautifully cooked so fresh and tasty. Chips again beautiful and fresh and not greasy. Blooming lovely.

Firstly this meal cost £20 delivered, the order was for mini cod fish, chips and large peas for my wife and mixed kebab meat and salad for me. What arrived was a mini fish, the flesh was grey in colour and it was very small, the chips were dry and over cooked ( no salt and vinegar as requested ) and a small watery peas ( we paid for large). The doner kebab meat again was at least 1 - 2 days old, bitty with gristle and dry, and the chicken meat was also dry and basically inedible. I have given 1 mark for the packaging and 1 for the salad as it was fresh, also the bag it came in was a nice touch. Andy’s has always been our go to fish shop but this has left us very disappointed indeed. Steve

Andys has had a refit and is very open. You can see that you are getting fresh cooked food from a clean kitchen. It has a great selection of meal deals and kebabs as well as your standard fish a chips. Andys is worth a visit. I'm lucky it's just up the road from me.

Wow the food piping hot and the smell driving home. Good job not on passenger seat as I would of attacked it . Hahaha. Got home 20 mins later and perfect just needed a few mins in microwave. BANG ON... I Might invest on one of those heat retension bags but Why . Bang on Quality food.. AND THE SERVICE IS 👍.

Very disappointing! We have had food from Andy’s quite a bit recently but the last couple of times have been pretty average with todays visit being particularly poor. I feel compelled to leave a review so it hopefully gives them a kick to improve as they really need to pull their socks up. The Large cod we had today was probably the worst I’ve ever been served and at £7.20 is completely unacceptable. It was well over cooked and their was very little actual cod.. in fact I’m really surprised they served it. I also noticed the portion sizes are getting worse while everything is getting more expensive. The £4.30 they are charging for a (so called) large portion of chips is getting silly. I have paid £2 for small/medium sized chips at other places and you get a lot more than what Andy’s are now badging as large..! Please get rid of those silly boxes you are now serving everything in and start giving people good quality food and portions again!

One you get past the shock of the giant fish tank. You'll find a efficient service and great quality food.

Ordered for collection and not ready on time chips were OK apart from the ones that weren't cooked (raw in middle) chicken meat was very dry and hard and portions were a bit small. Thought I'd give them from my usual but got to say will definitely stick with hillcrest fish bar in midway, much better food and bigger portions

Very expensive... Nice chips although the battered sausage was soggy along with the mini fish. The mushy peas don't taste of anything and the chicken in the mixed kebab was very bitty and hard..you actually get more salad than meat! So overall Poor quantities, poor food quality for the prices you pay. The shop itself was clean and the staff were friendly.

Been a while since I've been here and I'm sorry to say no where near the standard of food it used to be, the chips were dry and the fish cake seemed like it had sat on the side for ages as that was dry aswell

Fish is always very nice but Andy last 3 times the chips have been like old chips refried we have been very disappointed

Staff are amazing, especially the small blonde girl, her name is Mia, shes so friendly and polite, always smiling. Food is lovely with generous portions.

I adore visiting! The arrowana fish is my most favourite but can not afford the tank size so going to look at it and the rays and what I think is a pacu or giant something. They're all lovely and watching them really helps my mental health. It calms me. Also the food is the best chip shop in swadlincote.

Beautiful we had a few items this evening fish, chips , kebabs, battered sausages and chicken portions all were delicious and so tasty even the sauces were all perfect and portions are generous too. Lock down taking its toll, then a little hint of light at the end of a long dark tunnel, Andy's Fish Bar in Gresley is doing deliveries !! Jumped on line, quick easy process of ordering two fish and chip suppers, sit back and wait. Delivery spot on time, food hot and delicious and definitely hit the spot. Curry sauce and mushy peas accompanied the fish perfectly. Total cost around £10, worth every penny.. Makes lock down that little bit more fun, well done guys...

Absolutely rubbish. What happened to the portion sizes? Ordered doner meat & chips and got 2 strands of doner meat which was very chewy & full of gristle. Will never use this chip shop again. Service was also not good
