Wok Canton in South Derbyshire

Crispy Duck was not crispy as it was submerged in a horrible sauce and all batter-no meat. Chicken curry ordered with onion and extra mushrooms - didn’t get any of them. Really poor value for money - won’t be having food from here again.

Credit where it’s due, the food was hot, but thats where it ends. We ordered: Crispy shredded chilli beef - emphasis on crispy… see pic! Soft noodles Egg fried rice Curry sauce Prawn crackers Thank goodness we didn’t order duck, starters and more main dishes!! Felt like we had COVID, no taste, noodles were claggy and prawn crackers that are often free but we paid for were at best yesterdays. Rice, none eventful and Mayflower do better curry sauce. Time to up your game, £30 paid, what a waste of money.

Ordered as delivery was cheaper than others, my god it’s disgusting. Sweet n sour chicken doesn’t taste like sweet n sour sauce , the chicken doesn’t taste nice, the chips are vile… I love chips from a Chinese usually but these aren’t cooked the same, they’re like budget supermarket ones under cooked. Delivery lady was quick and polite.

Worst food ever!!! Stay away and it also goes by new canton wok!! The food is disgusting and it’s like it’s all been left for a week then reheated. The staff pretend they don’t speak English and understand the complaint!!! What a waste of money

Ordered sweet and sour chicken balls. All batter no chicken. Sweet and sour sauce was a colourless liquid? Has this place changed hands? Won't be going back again.

I ordered a chicken and sweetcorn soup, 4 chicken balls, chips, ribs, fried rice, sweet and sour sauce, and 10 vegetable spring rolls. My spring rolls were missing, the sweet and sour sauce was cold, the chips were mushy and soggy, the chicken balls were so greasy they were dripping oil the batter was raw inside. The chicken tasted like it had gone off too. The fried rice was hard and not fluffy how you would expect rice to be. The only edible thing was the chicken and sweetcorn soup which was still weirdly sweet- I hate waste but most of this food ended up in the bin or fed to my cat! It’s a shame as this used to be my go to Chinese and it’s massively gone downhill. I highly highly doubt I would order from there again- avoid at all costs!

45m late (was estimated in 20m) and shouted at on the phone when calling to ask. Eaten here when it was canton wok and it was bad, thought I’d try it when it became ‘new’ canton wok to see if they’d learnt lessons but they clearly haven’t

Stopped off for a take away 2 nights before Xmas for a change. Ordered the Cantonese spring rolls (2) and a special fried rice in the sauce. Got home about 3 miles away. Special Fried rice very nice, hot and tasty plus good value as it comes in 2 seperate containers. No complaints there. Bit into a spring roll and still cold in the middle as it hadn't been cooked long enough in the fryer! That is poor. There was no point in me ringing up to complain or drive a 6 mile round trip. Probably won't go back because of that. Would have given a 4 otherwise. Plus shop itself looks run down and tired inside.

They missed my husbands main meal off the order. Said they could deliver it 20 minutes later but not the whole order again. I told them I would give them what they delivered first in exchange for a whole new order as we had to eat together as we were sharing sides. They refused and kept saying no no no no we can’t do that. Ended up in an argument with the man on the phone as they didn’t come up with a solution and he cut the conversation off. All my food ended up in the bin and we ordered from somewhere else, haven’t given me a refund!

The food from here is always great, delivery fast and not expensive! The staff are friendly and helpful.

it was my sons birthday, everywhere was closed at 1045, they let us order and collect and were friendly. food really nice, would recommend

After a long day and no motivation to cook, ordered from here as our usual one is closed on Mondays. Food was good quality and tasty. Just a note on the bad reviews I read, they seem to all suggests its normally fine but left no reviews about it, then on the 1 occasion something went wrong they have gone out of there way to 1 star it.

The menu is great and varied with plenty of vegetarian options. Our takeaway arrived really quickly and was lovely! portions were very generous too. Was the first time ordering from here as have just moved to the area but will definitely be ordering again.

We purchased this meal through Just Eat (funny how we can’t leave a review there) the meal was awful and with the exception of rice and chips was inedible!!!! It had no taste and was “glupy” and barely warm!!!! Will never buy from here again!

I can only recommend that you try somewhere else because the quality of the food is terrible. Ordered via just eat for convenience but I wish I hadn't. Had a sechuan and sweet and sour dish which both tasted the same! And that was the best bit I can report. They really need to up their game.

My husband and I have ordered from here for many months. Our usual order has always been the same price including delivery. This evening, we’ve tried to order our usual food delivery, only to be met with an extra £3.50 delivery charge, which normally is included into the cost. When my husband questioned of why the extra delivery charge, the man on the phone taking the order said it was now 6.1 miles to our home. Now, that’s fine if they’ve decided to deviate away from anybody else’s normal route to us, but we rang them back and got the mileage up on google maps, ( which they’ve always used) turned out to be 4.8 miles! Once challenged on this, they then said to call back after 11.00pm for a £1.00 delivery! After quite a few months of being regular customers, we really won’t be bothering again! Disappointed with the inconsistency that’s suddenly appeared without a valid explanation:

Ordered a prawn dish and got given chicken....Was battered, so didn't know until i bit into it. I dont eat chicken!!!!! So not happy at all. Safe to say, I will not be using this place ever again.

We ordered a takeaway tonight through Just Eat and payed £3 delivery for it. When it was delivered at the door we were charged another £2 for the distance!! This was not explained on order or we wouldn’t have ordered. Food was average

Late food equals cold food. Not even a peak time for ordering, it was a Monday evening. Wouldn't order again, would like it if I was offered a refund.

Ordered food at 6.05 and asked for delivery at 7, the delivery time was increased to 7.30 but then delivered at 7.20

The wonton was burnt to a crisp and all black on the end, couldnt tell what actually was inside, just something black and burnt. The noodles were almost cold and the rice was hard also. Dont think will order again

Really accurate delivery time. Some things better than our usual Chinese, others not as good, but overall great meal.

Very simple review of what is a very poor Chinese takeaway. My advice is don’t use them, there are others in the area offering better food, but also without all the bad attitude when they plan to deliver your order very late without communicating this to you. I don’t need bad attitude staff barking at me on the phone when I call to find out why my orde is already late, then to be told it’s going to be another 25 minutes and it’s not their fault. Use another takeaway, these guys don’t care whether your order is on time or not.

We have ordered from this restaurant for about a year and it has been up and down on the quality of food. However, tonight’s order was amazing again, like the first few time we ordered. If it keeps up to this standa, it is our favourite Chinese restaurant.

Very poor - food was late and cold. Had to ring the restaurant to receive an excuse regarding lack of delivery drivers. When the food finally arrived it was of very poor quality - overly salty but lacking flavour. Sadly we won’t order from here again.

This is undoubtedly the worse Chinese I have ever had. As this is the first time I have ordered from this particular establishment, I went for the Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls, Chips and Crab Meat and Sweetcorn soup. Not very adventurous, but I always use the former as an indicator of how good the other dishes will be. If the chicken is juicy and tender and the batter crisp, usually the other items on the menu will be up to standard as well. This was not the case here. The chicken had a slimy consistency and the batter was thick and sloppy. The worst part of this meal though, was the sauce. If they had served dishwater with it, it would have had better consistency and more flavour. It was so watery and lacking in any flavour that it drowned everything and sloshed around the plate. Disgusting. The chips were OK. The crab meat in the soup was not crab meat, but rather the cheap crab sticks that you find in the supermarket. The only saving grace was that the food was hot, delivery early and the driver pleasant and polite. I certainly won't be ordering again; 1 star for food (abysmal) 4 for service and delivery (good).

oder time was 1hr 20mins, and even then the order was a further 10minutes late, when I phoned up the restaurant, they stated 'driver was on his way' would be 2/3 mins, order still didn't arrive for 10 minutes.

Not a good experience.........rang after order was an hour and half late...told me it was on the way....turned up half an hour later, chips soggy, curry consisted of 3 giant pieces of lamb and 2 mushrooms which was a shame as the curry was the only thing I actually enjoyed, children had fell asleep waiting so they were in bed without tea and to top it off they got my order wrong so put me off and so half had to be chucked in the bin.....delivery guy knew he was late as pulled up further up my street and ran to mine, muttered a quick sorry then he threw the bag at me and ran back off......😡

Food arrived hot even though this takeaway further away than my usual one. Loved the fact you can get a mixed appetiser for one person. Portion sizes generous.

Although it arrived on time, it was probably the worst takeaway I have ever eaten, the prawn balls were stodgy, the sweet and sour sauce horrible. I could go on but not worth it, as everything was bad, and ended up throwing away, very disappointing 😤

Food was delivered within around 45-50 minutes of ordering which seems standard for most places. Food was good, we had the meal for 2 which could easily feed 3 maybe even 4. Food was hot and good, especially the spare ribs :-)

Never tasted such a poor starter, chicken rubbery, ribs been in a fight and looked awful, spring pancake with brown slop inside. Mains weren't much better

Where do I start?!?! I ordered a 4 in 1 (4 chicken balls, chips, rice and sauce), the rice was all in lumps/stuck together almost as if it had just been taken from a fridge/freezer and bunged into a microwave for a few minutes, it went from hot to warm within a matter of minutes, the chicken balls were very chewy and rubbery in the middle. The sweet and sour sauce didn't even taste anything like what it should do and ruined the taste of everything (I poured it over). The chips were the only decent things out of them all and even then they weren't nice. DISAPPOINTED!

Food was terrible, will not be ordering from here again. Rice was over cooked and stuck together, chicken balls were mostly inedible and very hard, sweet and sour had a very strange taste to it and a curry sauce we ordered had not had the lid secured and was everywhere. If I could give it a zero star rating then I would.

We ordered the same thing from a different restaurant yesterday, as it's bank holiday so why not have a takeaway 2 nights in a row, and it was no where near as good. Late, not very warm, Crispy shredded beef tasted just like pieces of batter and was extremely tough and chewy. Never had a bad meal from these before, such a shame.

Our first order with just eat was a very easy transaction and not even left the sofa!!!! Although wasn't pleased I had to pay 50 p to use my bank card with the amount we spent needs looking at I think spending just over 29 quid was sufficient not to incur a charge!

Greasy, overcooked. Not the hottest either, especially annoying when delivery time was immediately increased by half an hour before the order was acknowledged. Will stick with usual takeaway and won't be using again.
