Dragon Court in South Derbyshire

Awful!! Partially cooked (mushy inside of batter) chicken balls with tasteless sweet and sour sauce, white "fried rice" didn't taste like it was fried, chips ok. Won't be returning will be going back to our usual haunt Melbourne Kitchen.

Great Chinese takeaway! Cash only.

I was here a year ago and it was ok. We went here for beef fried rice and chicken curry half and half. The quality of the ingredients is shockingly poor and I doubt its even fresh. The chicken pieces were cubed in shape and tasted aerated. The beef lacked any texture. We handed back both meals to the girl at the counter. Inedible I am afraid. We will never eat here again.

Brilliant food from China (it's probably not actually from China just inspired by Chinese cuisine etc). The staff don't mess about on the phone, get your order in and get off the phone.

Fillet steak with green peppers and black beans was absolutely inedible. However it is advertised, it cannot possibly be fillet. Large lumps of gristly tasting meat which we couldn’t even cut. We were reimbursed for this item, but I cannot recommend this takeaway in any way.

Need to sort their online menu out. Tried to charge us £46 for food advertised in their website to be £35. When I challenged her on it she told me she can’t change it and hung up. Will happily drive the extra to Willington where the food is better and the staff are friendly.

Dragon court is our local Chinese and its extremely disappointing for what you’d expect of a takeaway establishment, especially for a takeaway in a nice village. First of all, the prices are totally different from the menus online! More expensive when you actually order. Secondly, it says on the online menu that they accept cards… they do not! More importantly, the food. Chicken was cold, dry and just generally awful. Not sure it was actually cooked so I’m hoping we don’t have bad stomachs tomorrow. The rice was undercooked, The prawn crackers were stale and disgusting, The chicken sweet corn soup literally just tasted like water with a bit of salt. One of the worst takeaways we’ve ever had and a complete waste of our money.

Came here as had been highly recommended to us. Ordered a good and varied selection of food (£52). First alarm, website says (as I checked) that they takes credit and debit cards, get there and sorry cash only! Thankfully I had enough in my wallet but UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO SAY CASH ONLY!!! Lady serving was friendly, no complaints there. But as for the food, I can honestly say that it is the worst Chinese food I have EVER had! Normally we get way too much and eat leftovers over the next day or two, but this all tasted "strange", think maybe using old oil or something!?! Anyhow, 90% of it went in the bin, wasn't interested in eating it and certainly not in saving it! Even the dog turned her nose up and she's a dustbin on legs! Was so looking forward to this and so disappointed! TOTAL waste of money! Will never darken their door again and if you want decent food then neither should you! Had to give it a 1 rating as there was nothing lower, otherwise it would have had that!

Really good,definitely coming back prices are amazing I recommend Singapore Rice Noodles also S&S king prawn.

Take cash its the only payment that you can use.

Very tasty ready on time piping hot chicken was a tad chewy but the rest was yum especially the spring rolls be aware though they only take cash no cards

We had a good takeaway a couple of months back so returned to Dragon Court. This time was very average. Not great and won't go back.

Awful experience, sat waiting for food for over and hour and service was poor. Only for the meal to be very average. Disappointed

Hands down the best takeaway in the area - we never go anywhere else. We've been using Dragon Court for over 10 years now and have never had a bad experience. The staff are always extremely polite and friendly, the food is always delicious and is ready quickly. Thank you!

Great Chinese takeaway! Best in the area.

We have been using Dragon Court for a few years but unfortunately in the future will be trying elsewhere. Over the last few months the lad behind the counter taking orders always adds £1 onto the order. When he's questioned he makes a feeble excuse. It's now happening every time we have a Take Away. This really should be addressed by the employers!! Also on Saturday we ended up with a prawn dish instead of chicken.

Love this place for Chinese food done well and quickly

I have used Dragon Court for many years, probably about ten times per year. I have always been treated well and received what I ordered and it has been good quality, on time and with a big helping of friendliness & courtesy. I have recently started a gluten free (gf) diet and my wife phoned the Dragon Court to ask about gf options. The lady on the phone was knowledgable and extremely helpful and said that many of the dishes could be made gf with perhaps a little more notice being required when ordering. Ordered today, and meal was ready with only 10minutes notice as with the dish ordered (chicken fried rice) just had to exclude soy sauce. Also gave allergy advice re cashew nuts in my wife’s meal. For service, assistance and food quality I think 5stars is well deserved. Tried several other takeaway services who couldn’t give gf options or weren’t able to say what included gluten and what didn’t. Well done Dragon Court.

Best Chinese I have tasted for a while we been coming here for ages and it tastes even better now since the new owners, the lady who works there is very friendly and even gave us discount on our wedding anniversary, she is very friendly and will do anything you ask if you want it different, highly recommend

I have had two take aways from here ... both ended up in the bin. It tasted like the chicken had been frozen, then defrosted in the microwave, and covered in a tasteless sauce... I've had better frozen and microwaved dinners...takes a special kind of approach to make food taste that bad.

Main reason for writing this review was to tell people about young lad on the desk consistently trying to overcharge. When given the price over the phone it is always £1 more than it should be. I've pulled him up on this the last 3 times we placed an order. He always blames the calculator or whatever he's using! I wondered if anyone else has caught him collecting his pocket money! Food is very average for a takeaway.

I assume this take away has been taken over by a new proprietor as the lady that owned it a while ago was very nice indeed. Please note, last week I read a notice in the shop that said they would not be accepting any card payments from 10th February 2018. A very strange move in this day and age, hardly convenient for a Take-Away is it!

Very quick reasonably priced and yummy satay chicken skewers

We called ahead on our way home from a football match to order half a crispy duck. We only wanted a tasty morsel for dinner and have had this before from the same place. We opened it to find what looked like machine shredded duck. There was no evidence of half a duck. There were no juicy chunks of duck and contrasting crispy skin. Quite honestly, I feel it contravenes its description. Was it half a duck or scrapings of several ducks? I wanted to see half a duck in my foil tray, not squishy mushed up grey minced duck. For £14.50, it feels like we have been mugged. Aldi do half a duck with sauce and pancakes which is 10 times better than this sad excuse for a delicacy. Have been using this place for many years. Never again. Truly horrible. We even had to pay for the prawn crackers, which are so thick that you can hardly bite them. It is all in the bin. I would have emailed my moan to them directly, but there is no contact email on the website, so I have reviewed it instead.

Will never come here again. The lady ( I'm assuming the proprietor ) is unbelievably horrible. The poor lad that works behind the reception is treated so badly. Last week the lady gave out our food to someone else , which is fine, mistakes can always happen. What is unacceptable is publicly shouting at the young lad saying it was his fault when he did nothing wrong. I felt very sorry him and I can only hope that he has left. Must have been taken over by someone within the last few years because it the place has gone down hill so much. It's a shame really but can't see being open much longer with their attitude. We have used this takeaway on numerous occasions when we needed something to suit a variety of tastes. There is off street parking at the rear but it is not very well signed and could be easy to miss; a bonus as parking on the high street can be very difficult! Sadly, although we phoned our order through and arrived promptly to collect it I still had a ten minute wait and there was no-one else in the shop. There is a sign stating a 50p surcharge for card payments of any value. Another poster made interesting reading about food intolerances, so I would conclude from that, that meals could be prepared to take these into account. We had used the online menu to inform our order and everything was well packaged and piping hot. I opted to try something different, choosing from the recommended dishes 'Sesame Chicken in Plum Sauce'. I would not have it again, as even with the sauce (which was delicious), it was very dry and chewy. My fellow diners were all pleased with their selections which included, Beef with Chinese mushrooms, Hawaii Beef, Special Sa Cha along with boiled rice, mixed veg. and chips. The free prawn crackers were a bonus.

No complaints better than Willington. Always got no matter what. Only complaint is ignorant customers in waiting area. Leave door wide open and no heating on.

Relatively recently I think they changed owners or chefs as the food has gone down hill massively. Yuck
