Cherry Tree Farm in South Derbyshire

Fantastic food with a fantastic selection of meat, vegetables and gravies. Enjoyed every last mouthful. So tasty! Super friendly staff & very very reasonably priced.

What used to be a great place to eat seems to now be a struggling mess. I booked yesterday for tonight for a birthday meal and when we arrived we were told there was no booking but no problem as they had tables spare. We were then told there would possibly be a short wait for food which was fine, we ordered and paid on the app and about 5 minutes later someone came to the table to tell us there was an hours turn around on food which wasn't exactly the short wait we'd been informed about. The food came after about 35-40 minutes which the lady who brought the food seemed quite impressed with as it wasn't the hour that she originally informed us, I did enquire about us perhaps getting a complimentary drink as we'd nearly finished our while waiting only to be told drinks could be bought and paid for at the bar. We sat waiting for the last meal to come but it didn't arrive, they brought the side order of onion rings but not the actual meal so I went and enquired only to be told that they were sorting it and it would be another 5 minutes. It was while I was waiting that I spotted what appeared to be someone vaping in the kitchen, I would like to hope this wasn't the case. To add to that the one toilet that was working appeared to be blocked with toilet paper. We've visited cherry tree Farm many times and recieved far better service with a lot more customers. When we last went there was a sign on the door saying only carvery was being served due to kitchen problems. We were told they were short staffed which we accepted however I wouldn't say it was busy enough to justify getting the order wrong after over half an hour , very disappointed, we shall be going elsewhere in future

Waited for twenty minutes at the restaurant greeting desk before being directed to a dirty sticky table with ripped tatty seating after disregarding this we was offered another table . The cherry tree was packed with people there were no regards to any distancing between each table . I waited again for 20 minutes to make my food order at the bar only after paying was told it will take around a hour before the food would arrive.Eventually our offerings arrived the waitress came carrying our two main courses when we informed her that we haven’t yet received our starters . she said that they are on the way (total madness.). I looked across the table at my wife’s face starring down at the dried out over cooked chicken dinner with disbelief and total disappointment. Mine was as bad I ordered a steak and ale pie it came soft and doughy . My first thought was to complain but I simply couldn’t be bothered with the fuss of it all . So to clarify our experience at the cherry tree was a complete disaster. From the service to the food . We will not be going again…

Todays breakfast was awful. The price has doubles but the quality is worse than ever.Every thing cooked in the oven until dry , then put under heat lamps.The eggs would pass as rubber bullets.When pointed out to a member of staff that the sausages looked like an road accident, she replayed “ yes they look aweful”Words fail me.£9 for a breakfast worthy of £2.A very sad , really don’t care kind of offering.

I think young lady was Nessie , she was so friendly and welcoming , when she was carving ,nothing to much trouble , ran out of roast potatoes & cauliflower, but she brought them to table , my husband had pie , which she also sorted true star :-)

Monday 14th March 2022, after visiting Mercia Marina and doing some retail therapy, we were now in need of a late lunch. We collected our cars and drove to the village of Etwell, where we had a table booked at ‘Cherry Tree Farm’ Restaurant and Carvery. The interior is spacious light and airy, with nice tables and comfortable chairs. There is a modern contemporary style bar. We found a nice table in a cosy corner. We then pursed the extensive menu and then went and ordered our food and drinks. We decided not to bother with starters as we were all saving ourselves for the main course and desserts. My husband had the carvery with a selection of beef, turkey and gammon meats and a selection of vegetables. Jan had the carvery with roast beef and a selection of vegetables and I too had the carvery with roast turkey and a selection of vegetables. The food was mediocre and not very warm (I was not impressed and certainly would not rush back here again). We washed all this food down with a glass of rose wine for me, a pint of larger for Jan and a pint of ‘IPA’ bitter for my husband.We had desserts; my husband and Jan had the apple and blackberry crumble served with creamy custard and I had two scoops of banana and caramel fudge ice cream with toffee sauce. We then spent the next four hours talking and chatting and before we knew it, it was seven in the evening and we all decided at this point that we should call it a day and wend our way home.

Great vegan choices. Lovely place, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Would definitely go there again. Special mention for Fraser who was very friendly and helpful.

Had such a lovely carvery here. Always heard good things and wanted to try it out and was not disappointed! Service with a smile by the lovely Marina, will be coming back :)

arrived yesterday for a meal and was greeted at the door by a lovely lady who showed us to our seat, we were abit annoyed because the main menu wasn't on so that was abit disappointing hence the 4 stars but never the less we all had carvery, the carvery was very delicious and tasty especially the meat which were cooked to perfection and the lady on carvery was a delight ! Fraser (I think he said his name was) was a great waiter he made sure our meals had been ok and he made us aware of the fabulous deserts that were on offer! me and my hubby shared the chocolate cake which was MASSIVE and very tasty ! all in all very good meal definitely recommend!

Sit down meals are usually good here. However came for the buffet breakfast and it was a big mistake. Shown to a dirty table and told it would be cleaned while we paid and got food, it wasn’t.Waited a full 5 minutes at the counter to get a plate and the family in front with children were really stressed at the service. Went back to the table and cleaned it myself.You get your pen tea and coffee but there was no hot water in the urn,Only granary bread for toast, no white bread. The queue for the toaster which was way too small for the number of customers meant he food was cold when we came to eat it.They need more staff, more toasters and to care more. If you do come don’t waste your time paying for a medium or large plate, you can easily pile a regular breakfast onto a small plate.

When I ordered two carveries at the till, I was informed that there was no beef today. This was disappointing because my husband and I always have beef and turkey. The bar person told me they had put the beef out but (? not sure who ) was not happy so they had to take it off again. I decided I would make do with just turkey, as I don't like gammon, so I paid for the two carveries. The carvery server asked me if I wanted gammon. I told her, I know there is no beef but is there no turkey either? I asked her why and she told me these meats are not yet ready. I reluctantly accepted the gammon (which I would NEVER normally choose as I don't like gammon). There were other problems with the meals: the brussels were like bullets, the carrots were overdone, the cauliflower just had some sauce poured over it (it is usually nicely browned and very tasty) and the roast potatoes were just boiled potatoes with a couple of scorch marks on them. There were no Marmite roast potatoes. As I was eating the last mouthful of food, I heard a voice asking, "Everything all right with your carvery?" As I looked up to reply to the lady, her back was turned to me and she was moving through the arch into the next section so I never got chance to answer her. Why ask the question if you don't want to know the answer?My husband and I enjoyed a carvery at Cherry Tree a couple of weeks ago and everything was lovely. However, today's meal is the worst carvery I have ever eaten at Cherry Tree. What made it worse was that, as we were leaving the pub, less than an hour later, I realised that beef and turkey were being served.I think the situation could have been handled much better. Had there been a note on the door explaining the situation before we entered, we may have chosen to go elsewhere. If the person taking my order had told me that not only beef but also turkey was not available, we would have chosen something different from the pub menu, like Hunter's Chicken. Had the server given me some idea of when the beef and turkey would be ready, we may have chosen to leave the premises and return a little later in the afternoon for the carvery or perhaps even sat with a drink whilst we waited for the beef and turkey to become available. Incidentally, given that we were only served gammon, which is a much cheaper meat than beef, I would have expected a rather more generous portion.I do hope this is an unfortunate one-off and that next time we go to Cherry Tree things will be back to normal and we will enjoy our carveries. If not, I am afraid we shall have to try elsewhere.

Great experience, meeting up with 26 family members. Jamie the chef carving on the food counter was an incredible guy from Cork. He should get a rise!!!

Came in today and wow what a experience it was, we where greeted by a lady called carol who kindly sat us at our seats ! The kids loved the play area and the area was all tidy and clean ! We had 2 carverys one standard and one small both where very tasty and nice and I have to say I am defo a lover of the marmite roasties very tasty and delicious! Then we had the fish shop supper and wow what great value for money ! My husband had the sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection very juicy and tender just how he likes it, the food was brought out by a young lad with ginger hair, he had emasculate service skills and was very polite and caring ! We then finished it off by sharing a crunchy munchy Sunday which was also very tasty and filling ! Definitely coming again loved ever second !

Visited yesterday with family. 7 adults and 2 children. Ordering was a nightmare as so many meals were not available when we went to order at the till. Had to order one of adult meals as just a starter. When food arrived, the starter meal hadn’t been added. Two of the fish and chip meals had no fish in the batter - looked like it had been in the fryer for 10 weeks. Another meal was wrong. So out of the 9 diners only 5 of us ate! One of the meals had 3 items missing. The burger was rancid. The manager was appalling in his attitude. He told us that he was understaffed etc and it was all the area managers fault. My husband politely pointed out that none of this was our problem. If you are understaffed, this excuses slow service but inedible or even missing food. The manager did refund the food bill and told my husband to leave and never return - no worry of that! We live nearby and have regularly visited the Cherry Tree for years with our family but we will never be going again. There are much nicer, cheaper places nearby with much better quality food and managers who are polite and know how to give excellent customer service.

Wow ! What a night, I had we phoned up earlier and spoke to a lovely young gentleman who booked us in for the night ahead !When we turned up we were greeted by a young man by the name of fraiser, he was very polite and seated us at our table, he also told us about the specials of the day which was the Tomato soup and the pudding was the apple and blackberry crumble, which was delicious! We had a split of main menu and carvery good, we had the lasagne and the tex-mex burger which where amazing and we defiantly recommend ! The carvery was very tasty and good but the thing that really made our mouths water was the marmite roasties, WOW! They where amazing and very nice ! The deserts where amazing the cake with ice cream and the crumbs was delicious, the flavours where just fantastic! And then on our way out fraiser wished us the best of evenings plus a safe journey home and was a very joly young man ! 100% coming back had a amazing dinner and a super service ! 5* quality for such a low price !

Last time I visited here was around 3-4 years ago and I gave it 5 stars.The biggest reason for the 1 star was the carvery staff member, yes he was cheerful and I'm sure he is told to make chit chat with people but he really should of had help, he was carving and filling up all the veg etc, it took us between 20-30 minutes to get served and it was just after lunch on a Wednesday. It took absolutely ages, chit chatting to customers, then to staff members about cupboards now being fixed and how amazing it is, how nice the potatoes will be, talking about his family members etc... That's great and all but we want to eat food. We haven't paid and took time out of our day to stand in a queue to listen to his life story. We had brought my Niece as well who couldn't be left by herself as she is a baby so by the time the majority of us got ours and went back and my brother went up to get his after looking after my Niece we had finished all ours ... Just terribly sloooooow and really puts me off going again.If someone else had been filling the food pots then that would have helped, I assume it's due to lack of staff because of Covid? (At a guess) that's why the staff member had to refill it which is fine but the chit chat just made the whole experience ten times longer.The seating near the kids area was very warn which didn't look very good.The food was ok.Very disappointed.

This was our first time visiting and I will definitely visit again. Plenty of choice at the carvery and staff were friendly. Also the family area was an added bonus.

Jamie on the carvery was an absolute delight, had me laughing the whole time, he was brilliant with my niece, such a breath of fresh air and an absolute asset to the Cherry Tree Farm! I would come back just for his banter! The food was also really lovely, all the meat and veg was great!

Just finished my takeaway. Very nice indeed and ample proportions. Was served by the wonderful Nessie, a chatty and very pleasant lady. Will certainly be returning soon for my next takeaway.

We have had a wonderful meal. There’s an abundant choice of vegetables, all cooked beautifully. The meats were tender and melted in the mouth. Jamie served the meat and his banter and joviality were a tonic. It will be worth coming back just for the entertainment. Steve who greeted us was very helpful and friendly helping us find a suitable table. He checked our meal was alright and when we left that everything had been good for us. All the staff we saw looked happy and friendly. We certainly look forward to visiting again in the near future

I love a good carvery and this place has always been my favourite. This, though, was our first visit since pre-covid and I was really hoping it was as good as it used to be, as some other pubs we have eaten at recently have seen a drop in quality. If you don't fancy a carvery the menu here is large and varied, with a good choice for vegetarians, vegans and those on a gluten-free diet. For me though I can't come here and not have a carvery. It is good value for money. The standard carvery is £6.99 during the week and £8.99 at the weekend. One of the downsides to our visit was it got very busy very quickly and they were a little disorganised and slow to bring out the sauces. The carvery itself was excellent. The meat was good, not too dry. The Yorkshire puds have more taste to them than other carvery places. I've always found the potato options to be plentiful and the potato dauphinoise was a welcome addition. There was a good choice of veg, but strangely no peas, which are usually standard. My dad enjoyed the mushy peas over his carvery, which he would never be allowed at home! I love parsnips so I happily piled those on my plate. Apart from the cranberry sauce, which was very watery, i thoroughly enjoyed my carvery. I was too full to try a piece of the salted caramel and ginger cake, which I had my eye on. I should've brought some home. I did go for the ice cream though. One scoop of honeycomb and one scoop of mint choc chip washed the carvery down nicely and after all that we went to the nearby Mercia marina to walk some of it off. I would definitely recommend this pub if you're in the area. We all enjoyed our visit and it was a good start to the new year.

This would have been our 5th year but covid-19 stopped it last year.Upon arriving we was greated by a friendly smart dressed man who was glad to show us to our table there was 7 of us in the party which included 3 people with allergies 2 oap's and 3 people who are at high risk group because of health issues.We was seated at the same table we have every year.Staff All very friendly even the ones behind the hot plate serving meat up They gave 10 minutes to get ourself sorted and any drinks we wanted before asking if we was ready for our starters FoodStarters My chicken wings was as always crispy and hot with lovely duck spring rolls Main It is a carvery as always the meat was done to perfection ibhad the beef and pork amd both was done with care their are 2 types of roast potatoes 2 types of mash 2 types of gravy you have as much as you want or as little as you want DessertPortion size was just right not to much but not enough and was really nice and tastyThere was mince pies and coffee or tea as well As for price that was fine I am not going to go into how much we paid The manageress and worked really hard in these trying tines for pubs/restaurants to get staff and food and everytine we see her she has a smile on her face and is always on hand if you have a problem and will do her upmost to solve the problem.Would we go again most definitely we have already booked for Christmas day lunch 2022

Me and my family visited Saturday lunchtime for my dads brithday. We was greeted by the lovely lady marina and young lad stood with her, he took us to our table he showed us where to order and to let him know if we need anything. When we went to the bar was served quickly and service was great. Our food came the wait wasn’t long at all and we all enjoyed our meals. The cakes looked amazing. My dad and my mum took one home. my dad had lovely meal that was the main thing. Definitely will be visiting again.

Came on Saturday morning for the breakfast with Santa and wow I was blown away ! First of all the breakfast carvery was amazing such a wide spread of options and the ginger lad topped it all up very efficiently and fast and attended to all of our needs ! The Santa was amazing ! Very friendly and funny and my kids loved him ! They also loved the amount of presents they got and for that value it was amazing ! Everything just went perfectly to plan and I couldn’t have asked for more !

Great festive menu. Wonderful Carvery as usual and who knew they had little gravy boats you can use, pls peas in the back 🙀😻 cakes as always delicious, the Christmas ginger cake was fantastic. Gotta go back to try the batteries Brussels 😹 thank you

As with all Farmhouse Inns, there was a huge menu at reasonable prices, and attentive staff taking orders and serving. Busy at lunchtime but can easily see why

We had a fantastic carvery yesterday for my daughter's 9th birthday, there were 7 of us in total and we all really enjoyed our meals especially the cheesy mash! There weren't any parsnips but when we mentioned it Arron one of the chefs brought them to our table, we were well impressed with that considering how busy they are. All the staff were friendly and the food and drinks were brilliant and the kids loved the ice cream! Thank you Cherry Tree, we will be returning ;)

Called in for a beer and food.weds.10 th .to be told the carvery or kids menu only as short of staff..very odd.if you gonna cook for kids is it not the same for adults.masive q for the carvery.so chose the 2 Oz burger.the young ginger lad was superb.asked about the WiFi an was told it's a waste of time so don't bother.in 2021..realy ..all in all it was ok.just after looking online at the menu why not state it's carvery or kids food..

We arrived around 2.45pm thinking it would be a bit quieter it wasn't but we were still seated fast. We ordered a drink and food only carvery on and then the fire alarm went off, nobody told us to leave stay or anything and after about half an hour of it being on we were told an engineer was on the way. We was in the carvery queue for an hour and was now very hungry, however when we got to the front of the queue we were told 2 chefs wasn't in and there was no stuffing and only carrots and broccoli as vegetables also the roast potatoes had not been cooked enough it was just so disastrous that my husband has vowed never to go back!

Food and services was amazing. We ordered ice creams and maddy was very sufficient with the whole ordeal. She was kind and welcoming, would definitely come again just to see her again.

Booked a table for 5pm three days before, got there and 1) menu had been cut by over 70%2) Seated opposite the bar even though they were only 10% full on seats that were falling apart 3) Ordered food/drinks which took about 5 minutes - Only good point4) Ordered 2 x starters, 2 x Cavery and a TexMex burger with the starters at the same time as the burger - Starters arrived about 15minutes before the burger5) The carvery was absolutely uneatable - Turkey - not taste / Beef - Chewey - Ham - no salt. Even the veg and gravy had no tasteI know they state their meats are cooked for 14 hours, bu 13 hours in a waterbath and 1hr in the oven does not work.I'm sure that they could have done something about the decor when they were closed.

Service was very slow however the food quality was amazing! Staff were very polite but you could see the stress they were under with the volume of customers!

We really like coming here for a carvery. We think it's the best one locally.Our latest visit was on Wednesday night, we booked in advance and were seated straight away, which was great. My only gripe here is how closely packed in the tables are where we were sat, at table 38 (I think)The carvery was good quality as ever, but unfortunately they were missing a lot of items I'm used to, such as the cheesy mash and a number of vegetables. (I presume this is the whole Brexit/COVID scenario).Our waiter Frazer was absolutely brilliant! Great young lad, had a laugh with us and was on the ball picking up dirty glasses etc, I would've gone 3 stars for this visit because of the lack of food, but because of Frazer I've bumped it up to 4*. Frazer if you read this, you're a credit to your workplace and we look forward to seeing you again when we next visit. Frazers boss, if you read this, the lad needs a raise (or a free cake or something) as he's done you proud.

Last Wednesday my wife and I and my grandson ,went to the Cherry Tree Farm for an early evening meal .We were shown a nice table by the window and advised on our choices by a very personable young man , Frazer I believe, he couldn’t have been more helpful and certainly struck a chord with my grandson with his pleasant humour, a lovely evening and we’ll certainly be back, thank you !

My husband and two Grandsons all had a well presented meal. Service was excellent and staff had wonderful customer service attitude, and all done with a smile. Service was quick and efficient and all reasonably priced. Surroundings were clean and comfortable, with great facilities and separate play areas for keeping children amused. The young man who served us, Fraser, I believe, ensured we were happy with our choice of food and was attentive to our needs. Very pleasant experience.

My partner and I stopped by for a carvery this evening after a very long day.We hadn't booked, but were greeted by Oliver who explained we could help ourselves to a table. We managed to get our food quite quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love that you can now help yourself, but we both had eyes far bigger than our bellies. Oliver checked on us to make sure everything was okay with our meal. We found him polite and very pleasant to talk to.We didn't have room for desserts, but did take home a cake away.Will definitely be dropping by again soon. Would recommend The Cherry Tree to all our friends and family.

We eat at The Cherry Tree regularly with our children, it's our go to for a reasonably priced, quality meal. Carvery is great value.! Always leave full and content.Cake away is a MUST.! Incredible cakes, and a huge portion.Staff are welcoming and friendly.One young lady in particular always looks busy - Libby. I don't think she stops. A right pocket rocket.! Very polite and always helpful. A true asset.Looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.

My son and I stayed in a nearby hotel whilst visiting Alton Towers during half term and visited the Cherry Tree Farm every evening. The carvery can be busy at weekends but worth the wait if you are hungry. During the week the queue is a lot smaller and kids eat for £1 ( what’s not to like). Frazer looked after our table and was extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough to ensure we were happy customers.

We saw on the website that breakfast is served from 8am so we went for breakfast only to find s notice stating 'Due to staff shortages, breakfasts are not being served', surely it does not take a lot of effort to update the website and save everyone a pointless journey.

Came the other night and was greeted by a lovely waiter called Fraser, he showed us to our table and looked after us for the whole night, he was a breath of fresh air !the food was amazing, we had two standard plates of Carvery and everything was cooked to perfection, the carvery lady was also very helpful ! Definitely coming back loved every second !

Three of us came two days on the trot, we all enjoyed the carverys, we rate this as the best carvery around here, we got really good service from our waiter Fraser, we will be eating here again excellent.

Went to cherry tree today went to order and they didn't have half the stuff on the menu. Went for carvery waited for 1 hour food was cold the staff serving the meat were rude and gave us all the scrappy meat off the end of the joint. It was fatty. As collecting the veg the side were disgustingly dirty. Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and Grandads pie was like a brick all burnt served with cold chips and veg. Never had a meal as bad it's awful gone down hill since Green King took over. The meat was cut that thin on my partners off a fresh joint that you could see through it. Took the pie home and even the dog wouldnt eat it.

Went to cherry tree farm on Sunday. Went to order a curry they didn't have any went to order mixed fish supper they didn't have any. Ended up ordering cod and chips and peas. The fish and tarter sauce were bland completely tasteless even with salt vinegar and lemon on the chips and mushy peas were stone cold. My farther had a pie and it looked like it had been in the oven all day it was like a brick he would have needed a saw to get through the pastry never mind a knife. My partner and sister ordered a carvery and ended up waiting 1 hour as only 1 person was cutting the meat there was barely anybody putting veg on plates because of this. The meat was that dry that I would feed to the dog if I was cooking it at home. The turkey came off the joint in dry flakes nevermind a slice. The mash was lumpy the your shire was like a brick and the veg was bland and tasteless. The man serving the meat had no manners just spoke in the grumpiest tone saying What do you want? This used to be a decent place but its far from it now. I wish we had gone to KFC and my dad is allergic to poultry.

We always visit here for the best carvery in the area! But was disappointed this time ! No Yorkshire puddings no cranberry sauce , had to wait 20 minutes for mash ! We paid extra for pigs in blankets but the man was giving one out to most people for free!! Also while we were queuing and watching the meat being served if a person asked for all the meats they got a slice of each ! We only wanted one meat and got 1 slice which wasn’t right! Shame it wasn’t good this time! Hopefully things will improve!

Came on a Sunday around 12:30 we expected to wait around 30mins for a table to our surprise we got one straight away, Marina and Lee were extremely friendly on the host stand, we then queued up for our Carvery, Aaron and Vicky were amazing they couldn’t of helped us enough, definitely will be returning & recommending.

Visited tonight for a family meal served by the lady manager (sorry we didnt get your name) and Steven we all had lovely meals, defo value for money and service was fantastic even after being told they were short staffed our meal came out in no time, staff were all helpfull and couldnt do enough to make sure everyone was happy... we will defo be returning again soon. Thankyou so much

We arrived en spec for a quick pit stop on a long journey and sll staff were polite and professional with all areas clean and tidy

We went to the Cherry Tree today for carvery and it was by far the best experience that we have had there. Food was incredible, very fresh and hot. The mash spuds are devine and the pigs in blankets just topped it off. We want to specifically mention a young lad called Lucus. His service and manners are impeccable and he was always smiling. He is such a credit to Cherry Tree please give him all the praise he deserves and a pay rise Definitely will be returning here again Thank you for a lovely experience.

The reason it didn’t get a 1* is because it had a play area which kept the kids occupied and the pint of Stella was decent. But the food was poor. I had a fish and chips with battered sausage meal. The curry sauce that came with it was awful. Looked like it was from yesterday. The fish was grey inside and I left most of the meal but ate the chips and bread, The bread was the best bit. The pudding was hard and was not pleasant. I got home anyway and was sick not due to any sort of poisoning just made me feel rough. My family said their carvery was standard. Just big portions which is fair enough. The staff were friendly and happy to help however so won’t knock them at all. Just the scran that let it down.

This has always been my favourite local Carvery but this visit was a little disappointing. Long wait for drinks - waiter did apologise for this though - Carvery is usually 100% but not this time. Broccoli was rock hard, every plate we saw had broccoli left on it, as was the Cauliflower although slightly better. Roast potatoes tasted like they'd been sat a good while, maybe because a slower turnover as not so busy as other times we've been. No vegetarian gravy and ran out of horseradish sauce. Still good value but not as good as normal - it's the little things that make a good meal great. This is the second disappointing visit to a Greene King pub (different one last time) come on Greene King get your act together there's a lot of competition out there.

Came for the carvery and couldn’t get enough. All staff were welcoming and the food was great! Would definitely come back, smiley service wins every time!

Nice food, good service - the new management has been a breath of fresh air. Look forward to visiting again soon!

The Cherry tree has amazing food for great prices, the restaurant itself is nice with a good atmosphere, and the staff are all friendly and kind.A gentleman named Steven went above and beyond to help me and my friend, he was approachable and very helpful. Highly recommend visiting the Cherry tree.

We love the CT, it suits the whole family; it's a quick and easy service, the carvery is spot on for the price, and their cakeaways are the biggest and best in town. The staff are sweet, welcoming and helpful, but sometimes a little short on the ground. It can get really busy at times, especially at the weekend. Always better to book if you can. Have no qualms recommending this place whatsoever.

After staying a night at the nearby Ibis Hotel , We decided to have Breakfast at Cherry Tree Farm.. The staff were so welcoming and explained how the self service buffet operated ..The quality of Food was excellent..I wish I'd had the normal sized plate , as large was just too much...well worth the Money...Well be back one Day when we're in the area.

Me and my friends regularly visit the cherry tree farm and always have a great visit. The food is always great, but it’s the staff at the cherry tree which really makes the place. They always have a good laugh with us and are always very friendly. Especially the general manager Marina!I always recommend the carvery and the desserts are also well with the price as they are massive!

It's always a delight to visit the "Cherry Tree Farm" for a Ham & Eggs or Gammon. The staff are always welcoming.The Cloud Wi-Fi can be hit and miss, but a good tip would be to just forget it! (For apple devices forget the _The Cloud network, then attempt to connect again)

Top class service!!Staff were fantastic, food was amazing! The staff member at reception was very welcoming and sorted a table that was near the children’s are, staff at the till point and waiting on staff were also very polite and making sure we had all we needed, but hats off to the kitchen and serving staff, fast pace, polite and service with a smile, even though it was hot and very busy they kept the food coming and was of excellent quality and the food off the menu came very quickly, so enabled us to all eat at the same time , I would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went for my granddaughters birthday as her younger brothers love the play area.I arrived first, I booked a table a week ago,nothing on the system. Luckily it wasn't busy or I not sure how they would have handled it.so that was easily sorted. We had Carvery, I saw a young guy top up the pigs in blankets they were very undercooked and not suitable to served to anyone!. My daughter came back to the table with a long dark hair on her Yorkshire Pudding. On the up side the Beef was lovely and Chocolate Fudge cake divine. Undercooked food and hairs are a no no.What a shame.

Food was amazing, Anne for the dessert a chocolate fudge cake was huge it defeated my other half and he loves and I mean loves his chocolate fudge. The chefs Dave, Will and Aaron three steaks and a lasagne, majority of the food was all polished off and the barmaids Vicky and Amelia were lovely and listened to our order specifically

Great food and drink. Eirini,Vicky and Millie were amazing servers and definitely reccomend this place to any one who wants to meet with friends for a get together

Tonight was our first visit to this restaurant, we came with our 3 children, there was a slight delay for one of the kids meals. We were half way through our meals and still waiting for the last one, we asked a waiter, Steve, and he promptly checked this for us assuring that he will get it to us as soon as possible. We were offered desserts for the kids for the inconvenience. Steve was the friendliest, kindest person to us as a family and couldn’t do enough to make sure our visit was as good as it could be. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as both food and service was amazing!

Previously This pub was our favourite carvery,, but yesterday was terrible my husband and l had the carvery, l had vegetarian, my husband the meat carvery, l love lots of veg, good selection, but sprouts so hard, they were impossible to eat, likewise the broccoli, and carrots, my husbands were the same, plus from four meats only beef, and a few scraps of gammon and Turkey remained, and this was 1pm, our friends from Barcelona had beefburger and chips and peas, burger dry and burnt, scampi was OK and child's nuggets and chips ok, l was embarrassed to see them leave most of the meal, plus all l could eat off my plate were the Yorkshire pudding , peas, parsnip, and cauliflower cheese, none of the green veg datable.

We went as a family of 3 adults on Saturday august 28th 2021 and pre booked as always. Our table was for 3 pm and we requested long seat at the table due to one of us having walking difficulties. We chose our meals and drinks and orders on the Greene King app. Food was hot and presented well and we all enjoyed our meals. Service was good and friendly.we use this public house on a regular basis and would recommend eating here. We had a carvery on our last visit and was delicious and hot and good selection of fresh veg etc.

We called in for a quick roast dinner. We’re served promptly and marina and Adam ensured we had some seating. Food was fantastic and staff friendly. Would highly recommend

My husband went to pick up 3 dinners on a takeout for Sunday lunch, he’s never done this before but was greeted by a server called Hollie, my husband stood in this long queue waiting to pack the takeout boxes when Hollie returned and offered to do it for him. This was above and beyond fantastic service. You are lucky to have such a dedicated member of your team. Thank You Hollie, I’m looking forward to my Sunday lunch.

Myself and friends visited the Cherrytree at Willington this evening and from the excellent food that we were served to the staff making us feel welcome I would certainly have no hesitation in visiting again or recommending to my other family and friends. Such a pleasure to have spent such a nice evening in a very good establishment, Special mention to Marina who helped us with our query about ordering and then Kevin who served me at the Bar both of these members of staff went above and beyond to make our dining experience one not to forget.

I go to the Cherry tree quite often and the carvery is amazing and I have tried many places over the years and no where beats here for food and the friendly staff who are always very helpful. They have tried really hard under the difficult rules of Covid to keep staff safe and customers happy. The food servers are lovey and a gentleman tall with tattoos is always having a laugh with the customers but most of the staff I have seen are like that all the time.

Stopped here for a quick dinner one night on our travels, the place was packed therefore we were happy they had a table for us, ordering was really easy everything through the app! We ordered two large carvery's and one child. When we came to pay the child's was only a £1. When we went up to get the food, we had our plates mounted with food, very good for the price! The only down side was waiting 45 minutes to be served our food as everyone was getting one, which is understandable for how good the value was!

Awful food, dirty glasses, dirty cutlery, black burnt bacon dry chicken, black bits on fish batter young kids serving who clearly could not be bothered, never asked even once how theood was

Had to ask for clean cutlery as it was dirty. Waited ages for food gammon steak was black in parts ask for no pea but still came with them. Toilets shabby and not overly clean. Seemed under staffed waiter seemed stressed and unfriendly. Carvery was poor Brussel sprouts so hard couldn't cut them. Took an age to serve. Over all disappointed

Visited the Willington Derby Cherrytree and was very very busy but the young man on front of house was so pleasant and helpful to everybody and he did it with a smile I think his name is Lee what an asset to your business, in fact we had to wait 50 minutes for our Cavery and all the staff are such hard workers and pleasant as it was ridiculous busy.Food fab definitely be returning.

Staff were standard pub stuff, nothing extra as expected, as it is just a pub/restaurant. Busy on the ‘kids side’ of the restaurant, barely anyone on the other side, so would’ve liked to have been spread out more as it was extremely loud where we were and we never specified we wanted to dine in the kids section - Speaking of kids section, it needs some serious updating of the games/toys etc, if you’re going to advertise that part it needs to be relatively good (toys/games broken etc) Food - terrible, get better food at the local leisure centre. It also took a long time to come, and when it did it was shocking. Also, by the time my fianceé had gotten her carvery, i had already given up eating the shocking burger that’d been brought to the table. (Mrs said carvery was crap as well) The head of house (i believe) who had only been there a few weeks - great guy and helpful, couldn’t fault him. All in all wouldn’t return

No matter how decent the carvery was, a 50 minute queue on a Wednesday evening is appalling so would not recommend and will not return.

We came to the cherry tree for dinner on Monday and had a beautiful Carvery super experience beautiful friendly staff nothing too much trouble everyone was very polite we were served by a lady called Nessie she was very accommodating more than helpful her heart is in her job which was obvious, if all the staff are like that will definitely be coming again and again

Went with the family last week. Good speedy service. Very good selection of vegetables to go with the vegetarian tart. Served by a wonderfully chatty girl called Ness. Will return in the not so distant future.

Yet again another great experience, Nessie was carving meat & plating up food , all the time we were in the queue she was smiling, even though she seemed very busy( waited 30 minutes in queue)food was loverly will visit again soon

Ok, so not a bistro pub. For that you need the Dragon. This pub simply excels at what it is. If you want a value for money well cooked meal in a clean and family orientated pub this is to be recommended.My nephew spilt his drink all over the table and the staff were quick to help and we really polite.We all had carvery which was lovely.Definitely a place we will return to again and again!

This was my first meal out since 2020 because of Covid so was really looking forward to it very much, we decided on the carvery and because I have a lot of chicken I decided on the beef big mistake, my daughter went to queue for the carvery and they serve it to you which is good but it looked like a dog's dinner not appetizing at all, unfortunately the beef was so tough I couldn't cut it and when I did manage to get a bit it was awful so I left it when the waitress came to collect plates she asked me if I'd enjoyed it I said no the beef was inedible she just looked at me with a dormant expression and asked me if I wanted a piece of cake I was gobsmacked, needless to say I won't be visiting again.

Excellent carvery and great portion. The staff worked flat out the entire time with the pub very busy, even at 6pm when we visited. The self described "tall tattooed guy" in particular was very polite and friendly. From top to bottom the staff managed the incredible number of people flawlessly. Well done.

Yes, that's it, it's basic and cheaper than most places. I wanted a carvery, but I'm simply not going to stand in a queue for ages waiting for one. Please, introduce a time system or something as it isn't pleasant to stand there with no social distancing waiting for a meal. So had something off the menu. Pie and mash. It was very ordinary and not very tasty at all. This place used to be a treat to go to. Now it's just another crap 'chuck it out' pub. Plus it took 40 mins to get served. Won't be going back.

We waited in the queue for a carvery for 50 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. The rest of our party ordered from the menu and their food arrived within 20 minutes and so we ended up eating separately. The poor staff behind the carvery were dripping with sweat as completely rushed off their feet trying to fulfill click and collect orders at the same time as serving a queue of people that reached as far back as the far end of the bar. Clearly trying to do the click and collect on top just made it worse. Terrible service. Also no vinegar for the chips for the meals the others in our party ordered.... how can a restaurant run out of vinegar. Complained to a staff member who did speak to the manager who said there was nothing he could do about it, he never bothered himself to come over and talk to us. The entire system in place doesn't work, it's ridiculous to make people stand in a queue for 50 minutes for a carvery. Will never be going back.

Thought we would pop in here for a carvery with our young grandaughter, haven’t been for a while. We only had to wait 10 minutes for a table and the staff are always lovely and friendly…..however, we ordered our food and our 5 yr old grandaughter didn’t want carvery which is fine. I went to queue for the carvery and had to leave my husband at the table whilst they waited for her dinner to arrive. 45 minutes I spent queuing for the carvery. It was shocking, 3 staff trying to serve but also doing the roast dinner takeaways, at 1 point they didn’t serve for 10 minutes as they dealt with takeaways, I felt for the staff as they were soo busy. Surely there is a better way to deal with the carvery, for instance give people numbered tickets and call them up or give them slots to come and get served, not only would customers be happier sat at their tables waiting but also they would be buying drinks whilst they waited. Food as always was lovely and good value but I would seriously consider going elsewhere rather than standing in a queue like this again especially at the moment.

We sat outside and ordered drinks using the Greene King app. Drinks arrived 20 minutes later and the lime & soda barely had any lime in it!Family members arrived and we went in to be shown to our table. I noticed the place is looking tired and by no means clean. We ordered again using the app. 2 chicken combo starter sharing platters,well there was no way near enough between the 4 of us,it certainly wasn't a size you would be sharing with anyone! Then our mains arrived a good while after and the place wasn't that busy so god help people if it's packed. 3 meals arrived and no sign of the the 4th meal turning up,we had to track a member of staff down to ask when it was coming. 10 minutes later it appeared. What we was all presented with was disgusting to say the least. A small batch of cold sad looking scampi with cold chips,a few garden peas covered with some,what they class as salad,but looked like weeds I had picked from my garden. As for the 3 burger meals,same old story,cold barely cooked chips,no coleslaw as stated on the menu and as for the salad on the burgers well again,it was barely visible. I work in the catering industry myself and would of been ashamed at sending such trash out of my kitchen. We used to love this place but we certainly won't be visiting again!

Took 50 mins to get carvery .when returned rest of family had already eaten who had ordered off menu. So much for a family dinner together? Food was nice just wanted to be able to all eat together at same time.

Having visited the cherry tree in Willington for the 1st time I wish I had taken notice of the reviews. The pub is loud, full of screaming children so much so that I had to shout across the table to be heard. the waiting time to be served was ridiculous considering there was only 2 of us!!! Will I return?! probably…… to go to the KFC right opposite.

Having made a previous visit to the Cherry Tree and received a really nice carvery meal, we were looking forward to another . However this time proved not to be so. The beef was quite fatty and tasteless, the mashed potato could only be described as fit for a toddler being puree. Whereas the stuffing, carrots and sprouts were undercooked, the roast potatos were almost black with over cooking. And who wants only mushy peas on a carvery meal.One person carving the meats is fine, but this meant a line of plates waiting on a slow production line as only one further person was on duty to serve up the rest of the meal creating a further wait. The staff are very friendly and indeed it is not their fault there are insufficient on duty in this areaDuring the enforced Covid 19 lockdown a through clean of the carvery area - and everywhere else of course - you would think would have created a perfect opportunity to be carried out. Well if it has , then a look up at the spotlights and fans in that area has certainly escaped attention. The tables although sanitized need a good deep clean. I'm afraid we are unlikely to make another return visit.Sue Thornhill

Go to this restaurant as we love the atmosphere. The food is amazing everything. The staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble we highly recommend this carvary to everyone can't wait to go again

Having always chosen Cherry Tree Farm for Birthday meals with family it was again the obvious choice and this was the first time since lockdown that we were able to celebrate.Booked a table no problem, informed that 2 children would also be in the group, on arrival we were cheerily shown to our allocated table in the family area.It was an absolute disgrace! Food covered the floor from previous diners, we firstly requested that the area was cleaned and then asked for another table.There is simply NO excuse for this and especially in these times, the place wasn’t busy and staff were more interested in leaning against counters chatting than cleaning!More staff training is quite obviously needed.The food came out fine thankfully but we have sadly now lost all confidence in the place and a substantial amount of money was spent!

More than Excellent service by Nessie on Carvery, , my first visit since the reopening after lockdown , I’m very fussy & she saw to all my needs , went beyond her job to help me , highly recommend Carvery, even takeout’s.

Great meal again at the Cherry Tree. Staff pleasant and all adhering to masks and social distancing. The food was superb, myself and husband had carvery and son had meal off the menu. I think the staff have adapted very well to the ‘new normal’. Well done everyone.

Not my first visit but the worst visit received from the staff at the carvery. Requested thinly cut beef only to receive a dirty look by the middle aged woman who hacked at the meat until it was in wedges and my plate was then slid along without even a smile from her. On to the potato section where a young lad scraped the mash potato tin until he managed to get enough to fill a tablespoon and put it on my plate. When I asked him if he had anymore he replied well I will have to fetch some. I said well can you fetch some as there isn’t only me that wants it. Again another dirty look received from totally incompetent and uninterested staff who don’t give a dame about customer service (jobs worth). The doorman was lovely and apologised for the wait that we had waiting to be served. To the manager more staff training please

We live nearby so have been a few times pre-lockdown and enjoyed it; breakfast yesterday was our first post-lockdown visit.Firstly, we were waiting a while at the door before anyone came to us. No big deal, but it was made worse by the guy who eventually came over to us seating us at a table next to a thoroughfare with no information about how to order, etc, given. We only knew what to do after later hearing the female waitress welcoming and explaining to other diners. Worth saying here that we hadn't booked, so we had no grounds to moan about our table. Anyway, we waited for quite a while with no staff in sight to take an order, so we ended up using the app which was quite intuitive and drinks then came promptly.We went to the buffet for our food which is not self serve anymore; perfectly understandable in a pandemic and no issues there. Sadly, the fried eggs were completely overdone with hard yolks; the scrambled egg was a bit rubbery and tasteless and there was no white toast available - it was about 10am so it should not have sold out. The other breakfast items were all tasty though.Value for money is excellent here, and as it is so local to us that we will go back to give it another whirl, but perhaps not for breakfast.

Awful service and attitude from staff. On entry at 12:45 for our prebooked table, we were told they needed the table back by 2:30pm. We ordered drinks and the waitress disappeared for 20mins without taking our food order. We finally gave our food order and we’re eventually invited up to the Carvery. One of our party was outside for a cigarette at this point and when we asked where the smoking area was so we could go and get her, the staff were very rude, dismissive and unhelpful. We sat and waited trying to get somebody’s attention to order more drinks to no avail. We had no chance to order desserts and 2:30 came round with no sight of staff until another table was over due and asked to hurry up and move on. Shocking behaviour. If we have to book in, make sure you have enough staff to cover people’s time in the restaurant! Absolutely disgusting to be rushed and not even be given the opportunity to have a dessert or a second beverage. All of the staff were quite rude and unhelpful. We use the Tall Chimney quite regularly and the staff there are all amazing! Shan’t be going back to this Greene King Pub any time soon! Customer service training desperately required!
