My partner recently moved to CD and this is his local. Cindy, Lee and all the staff have made him feel so welcome and he often comes and has dinner here alone but feels at home here. The food is excellent, freshly made and great value and the ambiance is excellent. We often have the Sunday carvery and they always squeeze us in no matter how busy they are. The Posh Fish Finger sandwiches are fabulous! Well done for creating a great pub where everyone feels at home and welcome.

The food and service is outstanding, and the staff very trust worthy. I mistaken left my wallet with a significant amount of cash, credit and debit and my tacho/licence cards, the staff had found it stored it safely and saved me from not being able to work with out my tacho card, you are all a credit to your company Thank you so much. James

If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, please do, you won't be disappointed and I cannot recommend it enough. This restaurant needs it's own clear listing on Trip Advisor to differentiate it from the Donington Manor Hotel, please claim it Donington Manor! The Sage Restaurant, situated inside the hotel currently has Craig Riley as their head chef. Craig is extremely talented, dishing up Michelin standard food. We had the A La Carte menu here a few weeks ago. I read the excellent reviews but initially discounted the restaurant because dinner service is 6.30-8.30 and we struggle with babysitters. However we happened to meet Craig in the hotel car park during the Castle Donington Fair and he offered to serve us dinner on a Friday afternoon, on a day we had booked off work to celebrate my partners birthday. We're so pleased we went and are already trying to find a way to return with friends as soon as we can. The food was incredible and such good value for money considering the quality and cooking techniques used. We were served more courses than we bargained for and the service was brilliant - they're clearly just a really good bunch that want to wow customers, it was an all round enjoyable experience - and the kind of food you think about for days after!! If you live locally and take Donington Manor for granted, look again and make the effort to go, we are so luckily to have Craig's talent on our door step.

Wonderful staff, they’re Always so helpful. Went to see the motorbikes it was a wonderful experience. Would definitely go again. Even though it was busy it wasn’t to chaotic and you still got a great veiw so it didn’t ruin the day with it being crowded.

A Deeply Disappointing Stay – One to Avoid at All Costs I had rather hoped for a charming countryside retreat, but what awaited me was quite the opposite — an establishment in dire need of not just a revamp, but a complete reinvention. The cottage rooms were frankly appalling — dirty, damp, and reeking of years of neglect. It was as though time had stood still, albeit in the most unpleasant way imaginable. Upon arrival, the bathroom sink was blocked, there was human waste left in the toilet (yes, really), and not a single sheet of toilet paper in sight. One would expect even the most modest accommodation to uphold basic standards of hygiene — clearly not the case here. To make matters worse, it appears this is not a one-off. A quick glance at online reviews revealed years — years — of similar complaints about the cottages, yet bafflingly, nothing has been done to rectify them. The dining experience was no better. The kitchen had closed early in the evening, leaving only a meagre offering of braised beef — four mouthfuls at best — accompanied by frozen chips. That’s it. Imagine my astonishment when I discovered I had been charged over £30 the following morning for what could only be described as a snack in both size and quality. Breakfast, too, was an ordeal. One solitary staff member began setting up at exactly 7:00am — not a moment sooner — and the process was excruciatingly slow. For a hotel charging such rates, one might expect a smoother, more welcoming experience. To add insult to injury, I received no response or acknowledgement after raising these concerns with management. The silence speaks volumes. In summary: avoid this outdated, damp, dirty, and grossly overpriced hotel. There are far better — and cleaner — places to stay where basic standards of comfort and cleanliness are actually observed. This building has charm, yes — but it is buried beneath layers of mildew, disrepair, and indifference.

For what you would anticipate would be a premium restaurant this was a real disappointment. The food offering is so poor and the decor/furniture cheap feeling - the opposite of luxury. Severely overpriced for what you receive. The staff however were friendly and polite and worked hard. Just expected much more than what is offered. Bread and horrible margarine with soup, chicken burger very chewy and at £20 extortionate. Didn't eat it was really not good. Shame their are no alternatives within walking distance.

Best ever scotch egg and sausage roll at Parsley Hay kiosk from the smashing Sue and Kevin. A warm welcome on a grotty summer day while cycling the Tissington Trail

Frankie & Benny’s is the best place to eat and drink/relax in East Mids Airport. All other EMA eateries/bars are Manchester Airport owned or controlled outlets serving the same mediocre below standard trashy food. The airport Hadley needs some class other than F&B. Namely a Weatherspoons. An airport without a Spoons is is poor airport. EMA is the litmus test for that fact. So head for F&B for reasonable food and wines.

Went early Saturday evening. Receptionist for hotel really did not want us to eat there, even though place was empty, saying that they were booked up, but she would ask the Chef. Had to go back in half an hour. Shown to table and asked if we wanted a drink without giving us a drinks menu. Said we would decide when we had chosen the food. Given a food menu consisting of several selections but obviously for a set 3 course meal - no prices. Asked what the price was to be told that was a set meal for Wowcher customers only. Menu taken away to be brought back with prices written on. Chose our food and needed to ask for the wine menu. Food took a long time to be prepared. But when it came the Lamb rack was delicious followed by two nice deserts. The restaurant was nicely decorated and set out, with linen tablecloth and napkins. Unfortunately it completely lacked atmosphere because we were the only customers. (Fully Booked??). Some quiet music would have been better. Left two and a half hours or so later, still empty. I had asked about the Gourmet Society when we sat down to be ignored and of course told they did not do the card at all even though they are on the website. Although as I have already said the food was excellent I would not recommend this restaurant and feel that management should change things quickly before they lose all their customers.

Lovely stay, the hotel room was clean and comfortable but could have benefited from a bit of TLC. The food in the restaurant was great, generous portions and beautifully cooked and presented. We chose to have a cooked breakfast in the morning and it was excellent value for money and perfectly cooked. Service from all members of staff was friendly and very good. We were made to feel very welcome.
