Best ever scotch egg and sausage roll at Parsley Hay kiosk from the smashing Sue and Kevin. A warm welcome on a grotty summer day while cycling the Tissington Trail

After biking all the way from Mapleton we were ready for a decent snack break. At 1300hrs on a Sunday the queue was massive (expected on a Sunday day!), waited in the queue for 20 minutes to be told the only food they had were sausages and a few cakes - not the menu advertised! The sausages were anaemic and verging on being undercooked and for £4.75 I was very disappointed! Had my legs not needed a rest we would’ve been heading elsewhere!

Myself and my partner was on holiday for a week in a cottage in the Peak District. We visited the centre several days cycling, walking and it was amazing. It was safe walking for me on my own. The staff in the cafe is fantastic, kind helpful, even though it's busy the service was 100% great. We will be back. Edd you're fab. We'll definitely coming back. M & M

Disappointed sadly, only wanted a coffee, two teams and a cake. Inefficient, nearly 10 min stood with my wife on crutches, sadly the staff couldnt seem to count, when given a 20 when the bill was 10.50...but were low on change at the end of a weekend had 9.10 but that was the customers fault. On finding a 10 they were still confused even after the next guy gave them 3 change for his ice cream ..or worst case the tip jar clearly had enough change. More important to put the change back in the till in order than to actually make the coffee? Becoming aggressive for my wife finding a pound and dropping it (off balance on her crutches) isn't the answer. Will take a flask next time.

We visited for to find something for lunch, on a summer Sunday. It was bustling but there's lots of seating. The cafe has a modest but adequate menu including a good range of drinks. Food was simple, without frills or pretention. Everything was decent and efficient; staff were friendly-enough . The site also offers bike hire and so forth

I went to the kiosk yesterday with my children and the staff were two young girls, dealing with a picky 5 and 7 year old is usually a task in itself however the two young staff members were very helpful and provided a great service, the Bacon Cob was excellent and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their hot chocolates with a fast and friendly service. Excellent location for a walk with some stunning scenery from the seating area. Will most definitely be visiting again!

Why is it that just after you have ordered your choice of lunch (cheese & onion panini) your wife notices there is a soup of the day, which turns out to be ‘cauliflower cheese’. Big question is do I change my order or .... ? I stuck with my choice, and enjoyed it. We had walked 3 miles to get there, middle of the day. And it was just right. However, I had a taste of the Cauliflower Cheese soup, and if it is available when I do the next leg ....... ? Don’t bother to carry lunch if you are walking, you will miss out.

Back in May we had a family walk on the trail. Parked up and had some welcome refreshments. Staff were friendly. It is basically a kiosk so no inside seating. On our return later in the afternoon we would have loved another cuppa, but it had closed. Check the opening hours if it is crucial to your visit. Toilets were open though - more crucial in our case !!

We visited the Tissington trail on a reasonable September day and decided to have a coffee before we set off. I have to say that we hadn't realised that it was just a takeaway place and you couldn't eat inside. The woman behind the counter ignored us for several minutes whilst filling in some paperwork, and I was ready to walk away when she finally deigned to serve us! We just had our coffee sitting in the car before we set off, but next time I will bring a flask as the coffee was extortionate.

A return visit and still enjoyable. You can cycle or walk on a smooth surface. The information boards offer photos and an account of the history of the railway until the Conservative-appointed Dr Beeching closed it.Unfortunately you have to decide how long you want and pay for 2,4 hours or all day. Impossible for new visitors. You can find a free verge to park on round the corner if you hunt for it. Good tea-serving place by the bike hire centre here.

The Priest House has so much potential. Its location is lovely, situated by a river and the buildings are lovely. However, this is a very tired hotel, both inside and out. The exterior paint is peeling, the outdoor communal areas around The Cottage where we stayed were so dirty and unkempt and the exterior of this building was grubby too. The room was at least clean and plenty roomy, but the radiator was on full blast and it was a 23° sunny day. It couldn’t be turned down or off. The service in the restaurant was very slow and the food overpriced for the tiny portions. The constant drone all night of the aircraft flying into East Midlands airport was very noisy. It’s all a bit of a shame, as this place has bags of potential. Sadly, we wouldn’t come back again.
