Went for Christmas lunch and it was exceptional! Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, lovely atmosphere and music! I had pork and it was succulent and tender with gorgeous crackling! Hubby had turkey which he said was delicious! Veggies were cooked perfectly. Prawn cocktail starter was lovely as was the Christmas pudding. Fantastic value for money, highly recommend!

I was one of 11 adults who went to this restaurant on the night of New Year's Eve 2024. The 4 course meal and various wines were excellent, as was the service. All at a very reasonably priced menu. A most enjoyable experience for all concerned. This represents the views of the whole party.

Dropped in for a meal without reservation and the lovely staff made us all feel welcome and served us with a delicious meal and sundaes to die for .

After having had a fantastic experience here midweek during the summer, we promised ourselves we would be back for Sunday dinner. We booked by email, which was confirmed within minutes, Howe when we arrived there was no record of the booking. I was able to find the confirmation email. We were told that we could be accommodated but it would have to be in the bar area as there were 3 other bookings which already had restaurant tables reserved. We were advised to pick a table and they would set it up for us. We showed them where we would like to sit and waited for someone to bring some seating to the table. After 10 minutes we were still standing so found a different table which had seats in place. (We had already informed them that my husband was recovering from a broken ankle) Eventually the waitress came and gave us cutlery and placemats but no salt and pepper. She took our meat orders and I asked whether the veg would include cauliflower cheese, as I would like to not have it, as I have an allergy/intolerance. We waited a further half an hour for our meals, which came with the vegetables served on a tray, including the cauliflower cheese. There was only one spoon which was resting in the cheese sauce so I had to request another one. I then dished myself up a spoonful of swede/carrot mash and one broccoli floret. I did try to dish up some cabbage but found that when lifted from the plate, the cabbage came out from under the cauliflower cheese and covered in the sauce, so I had to not have cabbage. After the meal, the waitress came to clear the table. She dropped some vegetables on the tablecloth and asked if we wanted puddings to which I responded yes. After waiting for 38 minutes with no sign of the waitress to clean the table or take our pudding order, we decided to leave. On taking our payment the bar staff asked if everything had been ok, so I mentioned the above. He simply said, ‘sorry about that ‘but the mains were ok?’ I chose not to continue with the conversation, as my husband had overheard the barman say that he was going to rip someone’s head off. We are really disappointed as we had been telling everyone about how good our experience in the summer was. To top it all, there was a very large dog in the area which smelled strongly and a group of young children also came and used the pool table right next to us, despite there being a notice advising that nobody under 16 was allowed to use it. Another customer did point it out but was ignored. One or two little things we could have overlooked/forgiven but unfortunately there were too many today and we won’t be back

Delicious food speedy, friendly service 😋

The Lakes This was our first visit here, having been recommended to us by friends. Being in the run up to Christmas it was quite busy and noisy, especially in the main area where there were several groups. However in the smaller area with tables for 2 and 4 it was a bit more intimate, though the background music was a bit too loud for us. The general ambiance was great with a pleasant welcome from staff. The decor was tasteful and the bar area warm and inviting. The only area we felt needed to be improved was the entrance foyer - cold, stark, echoing without an obvious door to the restaurant! Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The menu included a Xmas Specials menu which we ordered from and which we thought was very good value. The main menu appeared to include a lot of Italian food but we didn’t look at it too closely. The portions of everything we had were vast - the starter of Halloumi Bites could easily have been shared. Overall an excellent meal and we will return.

Tried The golden Mill as we have a lodge on a nearby caravan park, What more can I say................Absolutely blown away with the quality of the food from this family run restaurant. We Called in, Placed our order and waited, The order phone was ringing none stop, The que for food was out the door. We had to wait 20 mins for our food, was it worth the wait, OMG yes. Best chinese we have had in 3 years. We have been twice now and its been amazing every time. Please be prepared to wait for your order as everything is cooked fresh. They do not do delivery, otherwise they would need 5 delivery drivers !!!. Call in the Bell hotel for a beer while you wait, The family spend all afternoon preparing the food so you know its fresh. Don't rely on my words, Go and try it out!!(but not too often as we will have to wait 25 mins LOL)

Booked a table for Saturday at 7 pm arrived a bit early to find the place shut, several other couples also turned up but still Henry’s remained closed, no contact or reason given for the place being closed, very disappointed, will not be going back.

The best chippy in Skegness! Tastes different to others in a good way always fresh and tasty! I’ve tried every fish and chip shop around this ones the best one for sure

Had a delicious Sunday carvery lunch here yesterday. Went with my mother in law who has a small appetite - so her needs catered for with a "child's" menu - ie only one meat choice. You can choose between beef, pork, turkey and gammon, and as much veg as you like. I ate here many many years ago and delighted to say it's even better, particularly the chef's gravy which is to die for!! Always a warm welcome, and I will ignore previous comment about the decor and going somewhere you need to "impress" your friends - for me, this pub is one of a sadly disappearing breed - the traditional pub, decor may not be to everyone's taste - but that's not the point - it's unique and not "manicured" or bland. Please frequent these old pubs before they disappear altogether - where I live in Northamptonshire you'd be hard-pressed to find one - they're all soulless, unexciting and unadventurous - and designed by a corporate committee!! Long live the traditional pub - a vital part of our British heritage - use it or lose it - and I wish it many more years of serving the public !!

Absolutely amazing food the sweet potatoes and chicken was delicious my daughters chips were really and fresh definitely would recommend polite helpful staff

Booked a table for Xmas lunch menu. Arrived seated and tbh the only christmas thing wS the napkin. No table Decs or crackers just felt like a normal meal. Drinks arrived promptly and orders for food were taken. Starters were lovely and no problem. Our mains then turned up and the only fresh ingredient was the meat everything else was frozen the veg over cooked and roast potatoes hard. We never got offered any condiments ie cranberry or horseradish sauce. The mains just were very unappealing and tasteless. We then sat for half an hour with dirty plates no one had come near to ask if we wanted more drinks etc. We then finally had to ask for the table to be cleared and the drinks. Three of us had puddings which were lovely. Two of the group had the 3 course menu so were supposed to get coffee and mince pie. We waited but then fave up all hope so went to till to pay. When I told her we had not had the coffee and mince pies the girl just said do you want to take them away no apologies. One of the party did remark to the girl were they short staffed and she just said no were just busy. It completely ruined our day, The place had other tables with xmas dinners too and were busy with normal food so would expect more than 2 waiting on staff the rest of staff were kitchen staff filling in. Shame as we have always enjoyed coming here for lunches through the year.

Sadly, this place has gone downhill. The lady behind the counter tried overcharging us & was perplexed when we mentioned it to her. Chips are the only thing worthy of being rated as, in my opinion, nothing else is worth my money being spent on.

Totally refute some previous negative reviews on here. Quiet but courteous and friendly. Food good. Very pleasant visit!
