The Lakes Restaurant in East Lindsey

Hi we busted the lakes yesterday it was very very busy and you can see why , we only popped in for a coffee but ended up having an oven fired pizza which was the excellent. The young lady behind the bar was extremely pleasant as was the young guy I think was the manager if you are passing pop in you will not be disappointed Stuart matthews

Just had a fantastic Chicken Caesar Panuozzo for lunch from the new menu. Its a kind of sandwich made with the same dough as their wonderful pizza's! The filling was delicious and so fresh. Was made to feel so welcome too! Would definitely recommend, so much tastier than normal bread!

Been here two or three times now and have to say it has never disappointed. The food is outstanding and the staff are very attentive. Skipped starters today as we wanted to sample the desserts. Have to say they are to the same standard as all the other food. Pizzas are cooked in a full pizza fire oven and the base is so light, the steak is cooked perfectly and very good quality. Our desserts of tiramisu and trio of desserts were all homemade and stunning. Cant wait for the next visit.

Went here on Saturday night for a meal with friends. The welcome when we walked in was very professional. The food we all had was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. We had lamb shanks, lamb cutlets and sea bass, all being as good as each other. Bill, one of the waiters, was very friendly. Can’t wait to come here again.

Fabulous food been meaning to come since we located here 8 years ago wish we had come sooner! Excellant service excellant good well priced for what you get! We went on a Friday was very busy but also quite noisy too with large gatherings so be aware of noise! Thst was my only quibble but have rebooked to a table that may be better ! Table 2 and 3!!!

This was the best food we have had in months & such a reasonable price, the pizza was great & the sea food spaghetti was amazing. We had tiramisu for dessert, which was awesome. They have a great wine list & the staff are very attentive. Next time we are in the area, we will be coming again.

We absolutely loved this place. Delicious wood fired Pizza and great pasta dishes. We were very well looked after. Special mention to Bill, who was just lovely. No kids menu but they do smaller portions of things on the menu on request, which was fab and they box up what you can’t manage. A great family meal.

Great food, great atmosphere, friendly and professional service, I warmly recommend this place, we are happy to have visited this place.

One piece of advice if you go here for dinner - don’t have lunch! Portion sizes are very generous. Great, friendly service, highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning location, absolutely lovely staff and the food is Devine, so good Riley had two bowls of the pasta, as well as half my starter and some pizza 😂

Excellent service, food very tasty , slightly pricey. I would highly recommend . Overlooked small lake, casual atmosphere regular tables and decor. We were there about 5pm for couple of hours, had cocktails. We were with a disabled member of family, they went out of their way to accommodate them . Again very, very pleased with everything

We dined here for my partners birthday last night. We were seated straight away; and our order was taken fairly quick. We however had no introduction as to who our server was; it seemed very much like there was no designated server for the tables. Our drinks took around 20 minutes to arrive which meant as soon as they landed so did our starters. The starters were amazing; large portions. Our plates were cleared but our drinks remained empty. We had to ask for the drinks menu again and then sat there before we had to call over a server to order a drink 15 minutes later. We both had ribeye steak for our mains; we found the steak to be tough. The salt and pepper fries however were lovely and crisp. Through starters and mains we were not asked once how our meals were. I was starting to get annoyed at the service; we even had to go and get our own dessert menu. It was not until the older gentleman came and spoke to us about our dessert choices that our experience changed, he was lovely. Explained what the special (rum baba) was, asked us if we wanted to take our left overs home, he was very personable and he was the same sever to give us our desserts and he checked how they were. This was the only consistent interaction we had all night. The rum baba was amazing and I would highly recommend; I just hope they listen to the suggestions of having a consistent server because that seemed to be the route cause of our frustration here.

The stonebaked pizza from this place is AMAZING, I am addicted! I probably get one at least every month, and have been getting their pizzas for at least the last 2 years - the diavola is my favourite, yet they can overload with toppings sometimes - but hey, more is better, and you can easily remove (and eat later) what you don't want :D I don't go to sit and eat at this place, but whenever I have gone in to collect my order, the atmosphere is always very warm and relaxed, and the staff are super friendly :) I would highly recommend their takeaway menu! 10/10 for the pizza (and salt & pepper chips!) ♡

The food i had was terrible. I had a ham and mushroom pizza but the base was burnt. There was a huge piece of charcoal under the pizza and even when i removed it , it was like eating burnt toast. The overwhelming taste of charcoal ruined the meal. There was also a member of staff supposedly wearing a white shirt which was not a crisp white his shirt cuffs were filthy and he had two grease stains on the back of his shirt, not what i expect in a restaurant charging high prices. There was no atmosphere in the place. Too many members of staff for such a small place who had no rapport with their customers. One was even clapping when some money went in the tip jar, very unprofessional!

The food was totally outstanding and the steak was cooked properly, the Tirimusu was extremely tasty and the Chicken Diavola was out of this world. So 5 stars for the food. The service however was chaotic and from my experience in hospitality, staffing was hit and miss. Seemed like all servers served all tables rather than having designated areas. We were sat at our table upon arriving and were left 13 minutes before we were asked what food and drink we wanted. As I say the food was terrific, taken by 1 server and delivered by another, the desert order taken by yet another and delivered by a 4th. It then took another 17 minutes from asking for the bill until it arrived. The ambience in the restaurant was lost and was extremely noisy. For someone with severe tinnitus, it made hearing impossible. Great view of the lake but there was no really convivial atmosphere.

Horrific, wasn't my table but when the italian chef was finishing some steaks he took from the bin some onion rings and send that to a table. I was horrified and after our pizza we left.

Wonderful ambience and atmosphere - excellent staff and food, well, simply glorious. We could not fault the Lakes Restaurant in all respects - we could not praise the establishment, staff (chefs and front of house) and exquisite fayre more highly. One of the best restaurant experiences we have had in Skegness for a long while 👍😊 Well done The Lakes - we will certainly be back (as well as spreading the word👍). Thanks

Stunning food as usual and the special for the night was a stilton covered chicken dish with bacon. Sounds very grey but the dish was fantastic. Cut of sirloin steak could have been better but as with most cuts of beef, you won't be aware of this until it is cooked and so it is not the fault of the restaurant. Never had an issue with any food at this restaurant. It is always a bit pricey, however, we are always happy to spend more at The Lakes as it the food phenomenal. Many thanks for another enjoyable evening!

The staff were lovely , food was great , we overheard the manager slagging us off as we didn’t tip , not because it want good just because we didn’t have any cash , put the dampener on a lovely meal and a good night

Had a family meal here last night to celebrate our Sons birthdays , 6 of us , excellent food and service , relaxed atmosphere , couldn’t fault anything, will definitely be back , Thankyou !

We were so surprised at the stunning location- a touring caravan site surrounding lovely fishing lakes. We were even more surprised at the vast menu and excellent food quality. We booked for late lunch on Saturday and as we had 2 dogs we had a bar area table which was fine but we missed out on the views of the lake from the main restaurant but when you have dogs sometimes you can’t be choosy! We chose 3 fillet and one rib eye steaks from the menu and they were cooked and served superbly. But for us the desserts were the “piece de resistance!” Absolutely divine! With wine and drink our bill was £200 but worth it. We had booked somewhere else for Sunday roast but on arrival decided to turn around in the car park and head back to The Lakes! Glad we did. 4 roast beef dinners, obviously followed by more desserts and we were thrilled we had made the u-turn choice! The staff were the same both days and were attentive, professional, chatty and very efficient. A credit to the company. Both lunches were great and when we come back to the area - we will return.

Always a great meal, every single time. Consistency is well and truly the ethos here. Great food, well priced and a great ambiance. Love a visit here and feel special :)

The setting is first rate. The waitresses are first rate. The ribeye steaks are a joke!! Served no thicker than a good slice of beef for a Sunday roast. Not cooked as asked for so was returned only to have it replaced after my wife had finished her meal so ate on my own. The bill £93 was paid with 5 x £20 birthday credit vouchers…..then was informed they don’t give change for vouchers. All in all the night felt like we were in the company of a bunch of amateurs.

Very good food and good value too. Service was a little slow but there was only one waitress and it was quite busy. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go back

Lovely pleasant place to visit. We went for drinks only. Very relaxing place, polite staff and made a fuss over our dogs.

First time visiting here last night. Thought it was a lovely place very helpful & friendly staff. We tried the tomahawk steak for 2 very nice but then again for the £75 price tag you'd expect it to be!!! Enjoyed our night and would definitely return but I think for the price tag its a special occasion restaurant.

Visited while on holiday in area - restaurant was nice decor toilets clean. Sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Food was best we'd had during the week here Kids had pizzas , hubby burger myself lasagna. Staff were pleasant . Would only suggest staff checking back on people - if food ok ? offer of more drinks or desert menus we sat for a good 10 mins finnished before we went up to bar to pay as noone spoke to us after food was put down. Maybe short staffed . Would definitely reccomended trying .

First time visiting this restaurant and certainly won't be our last. The food was exceptional, all freshly cooked with the kitchens on view to the diners. Staff all friendly and helpful. Excellent quality food at a reasonable price.

Sunday Lunch is a British tradition ! We’ve visited her a few times for Sunday lunch and it was spectacular! Disappointing we visited recently & they don’t do Sunday lunch any more ! Before the placed was packed & it was a challenge to get booked in , now it’s empty ! Going to have to identify another venue for Sunday lunch ! I think you’re missing trick lakes !

Where’s the Sunday dinner!! Booked lunch for 1pm expecting it to be crammed, but no; no Sunday dinner, no diners. There was one other couple dining and the atmosphere was that of a wake, miserable. Why oh why have the Lakes decided not to do Sunday dinner. Lunch was ok ish, but served with a slap in the face and an air of arrogance. Pull your socks up and get back to traditional Sunday dinners as today was so so disappointing.

Starters were great, main meals were very poor!! Some staff seemed very rude after complaining. Lad behind bar and another seemed very apologetic but others were very rude and tapped others to stop trying to refund after I explained I wasn’t there for any refund...

Because the restaurant is ten minutes out of Skegness it was not busy on the day we visited.This meant we were able to enjoy a very leisurely lunch . We left three hours later after a long chat with friends. It’s open all day long...

Sunday dinner is over priced and poor quality. Drinks are expensive but nice views over fishing lake.

Fabulous meal at The Lakes. Great setting, amazing cocktails, wine and local cask ales. Varied menu including stone baked pizzas, steaks, Italian classics and even fresh oysters. All fantastic. Staff very friendly and accommodating - and in the current climate where the hospitality industry is struggling they really deserve credit for their hard work. We'll be back very soon !

Came here on recommendation of a friend. Ambiance and service was top notch. We sat outside with a view of the small lake with our dog. We both had wood fired pizzas which to be honest were average. The Lakes Pizza was bland and I couldn’t taste the rosemary at all. The chicken on the pizza was clearly bulk bought, dry and browning on the edges as if had just been sat in a tub in a fridge for just that little bit too long. We both had Italian puddings which were nice. I hope the prices of their steaks match the quality considering the approx £20 - £30 costs. If I come again I will certainly try it. I would advise other visitors to avoid the pizzas simply because there is better out there and try something else instead. As I have said though, it is a nice place and experience

Last March, my husband gave this restaurant a poor rating. Persuaded to return for Sunday lunch with family we reluctantly agreed. A completely different dining experience. Eight members in our group, and all very impressed with food choices, quality, and service. Good portions accompanied with an assortment of fresh vegetables. Did I mention the pork crackling?! We will definitely return. A Lakeside view would be sublime.

First time visit. Very impressed. Lovely food. Will be going again. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Loads of parking. Lovely views. Not the cheapest but worth it

Just visited The Lakes after wanting to try it for some time. It did not disappoint. Sitting by the window overlooking the lake we had the tomahawk steak experience to share and it was amazing. It exceeded our expectations. The 40oz steak came with chips, corn on the cob, onion rings and truffle Mac and cheese and sauces. The waiting staff could not do enough for you, so attentive. If you are staying in Skegness it is worth a visit. We will be back.

What an amazing lunch. Giovanni and Dee made us feel so welcome and catered for. We had mussels, calamari, ribeye steak and seafood linguine and everything was cooked to perfection. Couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you!

we ate dinner in the garden area ovelooking the lake and the food service both manner attitude and attention was superb .They all from manager waiters and waitresses plus bar staff were keen to make sure evryone felt they had a special experience The food was delicious .If you are in teh area we highly recommend you visit and probably wise to book ahead

Fabulous place! My partner and I and his sister and partner visited here for a dinner date. The food was amazing & very well presented. The staff were lovely and we loved that they even had two waitresses that were twins! We ate inside and went out the back for photos. The view is gorgeous and we highly recommend it. We will be back! Thankyou so much!! The service was amazing and the man I spoke with unsure if he was a manager or what but he was lovely. We felt so welcome and cannot fault the service Thankyou!!

My wife & I visited The Lakes on 7th July 2021 as a birthday treat for her.Nice enough, quiet enough, we wanted to stay well away from the Euro football.Service was excellent, attentive & faultless.Then came the meals.My wife had a pasta dish which she absolutely loved, and that's the only reason this review will not be totally scathing.I ordered a Lamb shank, that apparently 'fell off the bone'. Mostly because there was no meat to speak of for my £17.50 cost!I recognised instantly the Lamb shank as the exact same taste as the ones that Tesco sell at 2 for £6.00. Microwaved and dissapointing to say the least. They were hardly busy, a few other people is all, but a complacent, non caring, lazy chef in the kitchen is the 'kiss of death' for me. Won't be going back. As I said, the only saving grace is that my wife enjoyed her birthday Pasta dish. We could have cooked that ourselves at home!

This is the second time in as many months that I have been disappointed for the same reason. I was assured after the first visit the same thing wouldn't happen again, however..........Just returned from The Lakes restaurant and have to say we were very disappointed. The waitress was very friendly and professional, however the afternoon tea we previously booked, (2 weeks ago), wasn't what we had ordered. We had been told that we would be getting a gluten free afternoon tea as well as the usual afternoon tea. Our booking was for 1pm but we went in at 11.50am just to confirm our booking, making sure to mention that one of the teas would be gluten free. We were told that they had us booked in for 1pm and they would be catering for us. We arrived at 1pm and we were seated. We waited about 25 minutes and the waitress brought over the afternoon teas. The gluten free version of an afternoon tea comprised of a plate of sandwiches and a side plate of biscuits, a strawberry and a few little chocolates, (which I was unsure were gluten free). The other afternoon tea looked lovely but obviously not gluten free.I have coeliac disease and have had all my life so it's important that I stick to a gluten free diet. Whilst I realise not all establishments cater for gluten free I am grateful and trust those that say they do, especially after being told 3 times prior to the booking that I would be catered for!

Waited 20 minutes for our table, had to order food before going to table but not asked to order drinks. Atmosphere was very noisy. Pasta main course seemed bought in not home made, steak main courses were delivered warm. Drinks arrived well after starters. Service was erratic and towards the end had to be demanded.

Had a superbly cooked rump steak that tasted delicious, the food quality was very good and the service was excellent. Staff were also very accommodating, would definitely eat here again if I return to the area.

Booked a table for four out on the terrace, place is spotlessly clean with very polite and nice staff. We had a mixture of starters and mains, everyone egress the food was faultless. Amazing once again and will be back again soon

we visited twice, once for evening meal and once for lunch we sat inside once and outside once - the setting is lovely and the decor very attractive. The food both times was very good, it was an open kitchen and they were incredibly efficient and well organised in there, and we really enjoyed our visits. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the table service was hit and miss - it appeared that some staff were very new and they were very busy but even taking account of that some staff just really seemed a bit lost - we asked 4 times for glasses to drink our water from the same staff member- although those taking orders were very proficient. we would definitely visit again and it was so nearly perfect

Meh! That is the only way I can describe it. It was ok- ish. Overpriced for what we had.. my steak was £21 for what was essentially a small piece of (fatty) meat sliced up with a few pieces of rocket, a quartered tomato and some dry Parmesan shavings! When we sat down, our table had half the cutlery missing (fork on my chair?) and the waitress had to hurriedly make it up. Made me wonder whether it had been properly cleaned since the last customers? Messed up our drinks order (put down the wrong drinks on our table without checking it was what we had ordered) and our mains order (I asked for fries which didn’t arrive and so had to ask about this and then wait quite a while for them to come.) We were only about 1/2 a metre from tables on either side of us so wouldn’t say particularly Covid secure in that sense. It was very loud in general but perhaps that was due to sitting next to the kitchen. Staff were running around like crazy. Food was alright, but nothing to write home about. Sorry!!

First meal out after lockdown and it was spectacular. From beginning to end we were thoroughly spoilt. Not only by the food, by all the staff also. Well done everyone and keep it up.

This is a very good restaurant. The Skegness area isn’t blessed with good eateries but this operation knows what they are doing. Plentiful, tasty, some original dishes and great service. WE WILL RETURN. Nice views, heating outside, spacious. Good luck with it all. We can see the effort and commitment from the staff.

I asked for a gluten free menu, and was given a vegan menu by the manager. After talking to another waiter, he assured me this was a mistake and they did indeed provide gluten free. I ordered a gluten free pizza, and the manager brought it over, declaring it was the gluten free version. One slice of pizza down, he rushed back over apologising that he’d given me one with gluten in it. I had to leave immediately due to knowing I’d feel ill very soon. This establishment needs to make themselves more knowledgeable about food allergies, it is their responsibility to serve food that isn’t going to make their customers very ill.

Always call at lakes for drinks and pizza tonight we had garlic bread with cheese we love the pizzas but unfortunately this italian restaurant uses lazy garlic not fresh and you can tell cause it's so bitter please make your own garlic butter it's so easy and tastes so much better really disappointed

Such a beautiful tranquil setting by a lake with huts around the lake. The staff was incredibly sweet, got my toddler a balloon to play with! The food was delicious and amazing value for money.Definitely recommend! Had the Thai curry, and husband had the salmon.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday, food was great, I had the burger it was lovely, will try one of the pizzas next time as they looked amazing, staff were lovely and the prices reasonable, my first visit here will definitely be going again soon
