The Lakes Restaurant in East Lindsey

Horrific, wasn't my table but when the italian chef was finishing some steaks he took from the bin some onion rings and send that to a table. I was horrified and after our pizza we left.

Wonderful ambience and atmosphere - excellent staff and food, well, simply glorious. We could not fault the Lakes Restaurant in all respects - we could not praise the establishment, staff (chefs and front of house) and exquisite fayre more highly. One of the best restaurant experiences we have had in Skegness for a long while 👍😊 Well done The Lakes - we will certainly be back (as well as spreading the word👍). Thanks

Stunning food as usual and the special for the night was a stilton covered chicken dish with bacon. Sounds very grey but the dish was fantastic. Cut of sirloin steak could have been better but as with most cuts of beef, you won't be aware of this until it is cooked and so it is not the fault of the restaurant. Never had an issue with any food at this restaurant. It is always a bit pricey, however, we are always happy to spend more at The Lakes as it the food phenomenal. Many thanks for another enjoyable evening!

The staff were lovely , food was great , we overheard the manager slagging us off as we didn’t tip , not because it want good just because we didn’t have any cash , put the dampener on a lovely meal and a good night

Had a family meal here last night to celebrate our Sons birthdays , 6 of us , excellent food and service , relaxed atmosphere , couldn’t fault anything, will definitely be back , Thankyou !

We were so surprised at the stunning location- a touring caravan site surrounding lovely fishing lakes. We were even more surprised at the vast menu and excellent food quality. We booked for late lunch on Saturday and as we had 2 dogs we had a bar area table which was fine but we missed out on the views of the lake from the main restaurant but when you have dogs sometimes you can’t be choosy! We chose 3 fillet and one rib eye steaks from the menu and they were cooked and served superbly. But for us the desserts were the “piece de resistance!” Absolutely divine! With wine and drink our bill was £200 but worth it. We had booked somewhere else for Sunday roast but on arrival decided to turn around in the car park and head back to The Lakes! Glad we did. 4 roast beef dinners, obviously followed by more desserts and we were thrilled we had made the u-turn choice! The staff were the same both days and were attentive, professional, chatty and very efficient. A credit to the company. Both lunches were great and when we come back to the area - we will return.

Always a great meal, every single time. Consistency is well and truly the ethos here. Great food, well priced and a great ambiance. Love a visit here and feel special :)

The setting is first rate. The waitresses are first rate. The ribeye steaks are a joke!! Served no thicker than a good slice of beef for a Sunday roast. Not cooked as asked for so was returned only to have it replaced after my wife had finished her meal so ate on my own. The bill £93 was paid with 5 x £20 birthday credit vouchers…..then was informed they don’t give change for vouchers. All in all the night felt like we were in the company of a bunch of amateurs.

Very good food and good value too. Service was a little slow but there was only one waitress and it was quite busy. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go back

Lovely pleasant place to visit. We went for drinks only. Very relaxing place, polite staff and made a fuss over our dogs.

First time visiting here last night. Thought it was a lovely place very helpful & friendly staff. We tried the tomahawk steak for 2 very nice but then again for the £75 price tag you'd expect it to be!!! Enjoyed our night and would definitely return but I think for the price tag its a special occasion restaurant.

Visited while on holiday in area - restaurant was nice decor toilets clean. Sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Food was best we'd had during the week here Kids had pizzas , hubby burger myself lasagna. Staff were pleasant . Would only suggest staff checking back on people - if food ok ? offer of more drinks or desert menus we sat for a good 10 mins finnished before we went up to bar to pay as noone spoke to us after food was put down. Maybe short staffed . Would definitely reccomended trying .

First time visiting this restaurant and certainly won't be our last. The food was exceptional, all freshly cooked with the kitchens on view to the diners. Staff all friendly and helpful. Excellent quality food at a reasonable price.

Where’s the Sunday dinner!! Booked lunch for 1pm expecting it to be crammed, but no; no Sunday dinner, no diners. There was one other couple dining and the atmosphere was that of a wake, miserable. Why oh why have the Lakes decided not to do Sunday dinner. Lunch was ok ish, but served with a slap in the face and an air of arrogance. Pull your socks up and get back to traditional Sunday dinners as today was so so disappointing.

Sunday Lunch is a British tradition ! We’ve visited her a few times for Sunday lunch and it was spectacular! Disappointing we visited recently & they don’t do Sunday lunch any more ! Before the placed was packed & it was a challenge to get booked in , now it’s empty ! Going to have to identify another venue for Sunday lunch ! I think you’re missing trick lakes !

Starters were great, main meals were very poor!! Some staff seemed very rude after complaining. Lad behind bar and another seemed very apologetic but others were very rude and tapped others to stop trying to refund after I explained I wasn’t there for any refund...

Because the restaurant is ten minutes out of Skegness it was not busy on the day we visited.This meant we were able to enjoy a very leisurely lunch . We left three hours later after a long chat with friends. It’s open all day long...

Fabulous meal at The Lakes. Great setting, amazing cocktails, wine and local cask ales. Varied menu including stone baked pizzas, steaks, Italian classics and even fresh oysters. All fantastic. Staff very friendly and accommodating - and in the current climate where the hospitality industry is struggling they really deserve credit for their hard work. We'll be back very soon !

Came here on recommendation of a friend. Ambiance and service was top notch. We sat outside with a view of the small lake with our dog. We both had wood fired pizzas which to be honest were average. The Lakes Pizza was bland and I couldn’t taste the rosemary at all. The chicken on the pizza was clearly bulk bought, dry and browning on the edges as if had just been sat in a tub in a fridge for just that little bit too long. We both had Italian puddings which were nice. I hope the prices of their steaks match the quality considering the approx £20 - £30 costs. If I come again I will certainly try it. I would advise other visitors to avoid the pizzas simply because there is better out there and try something else instead. As I have said though, it is a nice place and experience

Last March, my husband gave this restaurant a poor rating. Persuaded to return for Sunday lunch with family we reluctantly agreed. A completely different dining experience. Eight members in our group, and all very impressed with food choices, quality, and service. Good portions accompanied with an assortment of fresh vegetables. Did I mention the pork crackling?! We will definitely return. A Lakeside view would be sublime.

Just visited The Lakes after wanting to try it for some time. It did not disappoint. Sitting by the window overlooking the lake we had the tomahawk steak experience to share and it was amazing. It exceeded our expectations. The 40oz steak came with chips, corn on the cob, onion rings and truffle Mac and cheese and sauces. The waiting staff could not do enough for you, so attentive. If you are staying in Skegness it is worth a visit. We will be back.

we ate dinner in the garden area ovelooking the lake and the food service both manner attitude and attention was superb .They all from manager waiters and waitresses plus bar staff were keen to make sure evryone felt they had a special experience The food was delicious .If you are in teh area we highly recommend you visit and probably wise to book ahead

Fabulous place! My partner and I and his sister and partner visited here for a dinner date. The food was amazing & very well presented. The staff were lovely and we loved that they even had two waitresses that were twins! We ate inside and went out the back for photos. The view is gorgeous and we highly recommend it. We will be back! My wife & I visited The Lakes on 7th July 2021 as a birthday treat for her.Nice enough, quiet enough, we wanted to stay well away from the Euro football.Service was excellent, attentive & faultless.Then came the meals.My wife had a pasta dish which she absolutely loved, and that's the only reason this review will not be totally scathing.I ordered a Lamb shank, that apparently 'fell off the bone'. Mostly because there was no meat to speak of for my £17.50 cost!I recognised instantly the Lamb shank as the exact same taste as the ones that Tesco sell at 2 for £6.00. Microwaved and dissapointing to say the least. They were hardly busy, a few other people is all, but a complacent, non caring, lazy chef in the kitchen is the 'kiss of death' for me. Won't be going back. As I said, the only saving grace is that my wife enjoyed her birthday Pasta dish. We could have cooked that ourselves at home!

This is the second time in as many months that I have been disappointed for the same reason. I was assured after the first visit the same thing wouldn't happen again, however..........Just returned from The Lakes restaurant and have to say we were very disappointed. The waitress was very friendly and professional, however the afternoon tea we previously booked, (2 weeks ago), wasn't what we had ordered. We had been told that we would be getting a gluten free afternoon tea as well as the usual afternoon tea. Our booking was for 1pm but we went in at 11.50am just to confirm our booking, making sure to mention that one of the teas would be gluten free. We were told that they had us booked in for 1pm and they would be catering for us. We arrived at 1pm and we were seated. We waited about 25 minutes and the waitress brought over the afternoon teas. The gluten free version of an afternoon tea comprised of a plate of sandwiches and a side plate of biscuits, a strawberry and a few little chocolates, (which I was unsure were gluten free). The other afternoon tea looked lovely but obviously not gluten free.I have coeliac disease and have had all my life so it's important that I stick to a gluten free diet. Whilst I realise not all establishments cater for gluten free I am grateful and trust those that say they do, especially after being told 3 times prior to the booking that I would be catered for!

Waited 20 minutes for our table, had to order food before going to table but not asked to order drinks. Atmosphere was very noisy. Pasta main course seemed bought in not home made, steak main courses were delivered warm. Drinks arrived well after starters. Service was erratic and towards the end had to be demanded.

Had a superbly cooked rump steak that tasted delicious, the food quality was very good and the service was excellent. Staff were also very accommodating, would definitely eat here again if I return to the area.

Booked a table for four out on the terrace, place is spotlessly clean with very polite and nice staff. We had a mixture of starters and mains, everyone egress the food was faultless. Amazing once again and will be back again soon

we visited twice, once for evening meal and once for lunch we sat inside once and outside once - the setting is lovely and the decor very attractive. The food both times was very good, it was an open kitchen and they were incredibly efficient and well organised in there, and we really enjoyed our visits. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the table service was hit and miss - it appeared that some staff were very new and they were very busy but even taking account of that some staff just really seemed a bit lost - we asked 4 times for glasses to drink our water from the same staff member- although those taking orders were very proficient. we would definitely visit again and it was so nearly perfect

Meh! That is the only way I can describe it. It was ok- ish. Overpriced for what we had.. my steak was £21 for what was essentially a small piece of (fatty) meat sliced up with a few pieces of rocket, a quartered tomato and some dry Parmesan shavings! When we sat down, our table had half the cutlery missing (fork on my chair?) and the waitress had to hurriedly make it up. Made me wonder whether it had been properly cleaned since the last customers? Messed up our drinks order (put down the wrong drinks on our table without checking it was what we had ordered) and our mains order (I asked for fries which didn’t arrive and so had to ask about this and then wait quite a while for them to come.) We were only about 1/2 a metre from tables on either side of us so wouldn’t say particularly Covid secure in that sense. It was very loud in general but perhaps that was due to sitting next to the kitchen. Staff were running around like crazy. Food was alright, but nothing to write home about. Sorry!!

First meal out after lockdown and it was spectacular. From beginning to end we were thoroughly spoilt. Not only by the food, by all the staff also. Well done everyone and keep it up.

This is a very good restaurant. The Skegness area isn’t blessed with good eateries but this operation knows what they are doing. Plentiful, tasty, some original dishes and great service. WE WILL RETURN. Nice views, heating outside, spacious. Good luck with it all. We can see the effort and commitment from the staff.

I asked for a gluten free menu, and was given a vegan menu by the manager. After talking to another waiter, he assured me this was a mistake and they did indeed provide gluten free. I ordered a gluten free pizza, and the manager brought it over, declaring it was the gluten free version. One slice of pizza down, he rushed back over apologising that he’d given me one with gluten in it. I had to leave immediately due to knowing I’d feel ill very soon. This establishment needs to make themselves more knowledgeable about food allergies, it is their responsibility to serve food that isn’t going to make their customers very ill.

Always call at lakes for drinks and pizza tonight we had garlic bread with cheese we love the pizzas but unfortunately this italian restaurant uses lazy garlic not fresh and you can tell cause it's so bitter please make your own garlic butter it's so easy and tastes so much better really disappointed

Such a beautiful tranquil setting by a lake with huts around the lake. The staff was incredibly sweet, got my toddler a balloon to play with! The food was delicious and amazing value for money.Definitely recommend! Had the Thai curry, and husband had the salmon.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday, food was great, I had the burger it was lovely, will try one of the pizzas next time as they looked amazing, staff were lovely and the prices reasonable, my first visit here will definitely be going again soon

Took advantage of the Monday to Wednesday pizza offer that is currently running, any pizza, any side and a drink alcoholic or soft for £9.99!!!The pizzas were probably the best I’ve eaten in a long time! We booked a table on the phone and have a lovely laugh with Giovanni (the manager we suppose) and soon we realised about the Lake's Restaurant. Everything was perfect, location is to die for, food is amazing from starter to mains and to the Cannolui Sicilian we had were just Heaven on Earth, not to forget our Pornostar Martini that was amazing too, never had a lovely evening like this for long time.... We don't know who took over this place since we were there couple of years ago, but this is the place to be in Skegness... And Giovanni is like a gorgeous man (smile) professional from the beginning to end... Thanks to all staff at the Lake's

How disappointing, such a limited menu at lunchtime and forget Pizza, in fact for an Italian restaurant there is definitely a lack of Italian dishes. Fish finger sandwich is made with the cheapest of breads and the lowest quality bought fish fingers I’ve ever tasted. The steak was also low quality. We won’t be returning in a hurry, some staff wore masks some didn’t, those that did kept touching them, and the salt and pepper we used was removed and placed straight back on the shelf without even a wipe.

My wife and I went for lunch today, Friday 16th October. The welcome was friendly and the waitress showed us to a table for two overlooking the lake. The drinks we ordered were brought quickly and with a smile. After studying the menu we both decided on the Fish & Chips, the description read...... Grimsby Haddock in a Batemans XB batter, triple cooked chips and minted mushy peas. This priced at £10.95. When the food arrived the plates were stone cold and contained two very small battered fish filets with a lump of mushy peas. The chips arrived separately. The peas were just not cooked and therefore inedible. The fish batter was soggy and I seriously doubt that it contained Batemans XB, and the chips were straight out of bag of frozen French Fries. All in all the actuality and the description were miles apart. We pointed this out to the waitress who seemed to agree that it was not good enough, she offered to change the meal but we were both hungry and pressed on with the very average fish and frozen chips. To her credit the waitress did not charge us for the food, quite rightly.Living locally, in Burgh, we have eaten at the Lakes many times before the new management took over and have always been more than satisfied with both the service and the food quality. This was our first excursion out to eat since lockdown and was very very disappointing we certainly will need a great deal of convincing to return which is a shame as it is local and used to be good.

Great food and good service. Portions for mains are quite small so consider ordering a side, even if only to share.

Excellent place, cant believe we haven't been before, will definitely be returning on our next holiday. Steak was amazing, best we've had out in a long while, all the other food we saw going out looked so good too! Puddings delicious and "ice creams" made a happy 2 year old. In relation to the evening we had a table booked for 8.00pm , On checking in there was no mention of taking our details or reference to QR code ,hand sanitizer was available , we were seated in the waiting area, they were flat out, it took 20 mins to attract the bar staff to try and get a drink, it was 8.35 before we were passed a menu off a pile which had been used before and we were then hurried to our table, it was completely full not a table spare, very noisy , tables were set up sufficiently and spaced well. Waiters were constantly checking everything was O.K - did we need extra drinks etc our main course didn’t arrive until 9.30! Sadly, The whole evening felt very rushed to eat and knowing we had to be out for 10.00! No option of a dessert but we were full so not an issue, think they need to really consider not taking on too many customers as a 35minute delay getting to our table ( we saw others complain about the issue too) spoilt the evening sadly. Like I said they were all very attentive but on arrival they definitely need to ensure they take your details as you can exit from the other door without doing so! - we weren’t encouraged to wear our mask moving from the seated area to out tables, ‘it’s up to you’ is not what we wanted, guidelines have been set for a reason and they need to adhere to it.

10/10 we all had an amazing meal, great place, great staff, would highly recommend this place!! Great food, nice coffee too

We ate here four of our five nights, that should pretty much say it all, but just to add a few more words, wow, the food is amazing, staff are wonderful, nothing was too much for them. The steak was spot on each night, mother in law is a funny bugger (well they all are) so the staff knocked her up what she fancies. Oh and try the fish cakes, oh my goodness

We visited this restaurant on Friday afternoon, my children decided they wanted to try their pizza as they are suppose to be freshly cooked to order so we reserved a table a couple days before for a family of 5, one in a highchair. We arrived on the friday at 1pm as booked and was taken to our table. There were 3 other families on our side of the resturant. I asked the waitress if they were serving pizza as it was not on the lunch menu, she told me they was not and they didnt have a children's menu. The kids were disappointed but ordered something else. However, after our order the table to the right of us and infront of us all had fresh pizza bought out. This annoyed me, why cater pizza for one family but not the other. It really is not fair, especially when its children who are disappointed. My youngest was bought a highchair over that was broken, there was not a strap on the bottom so he could easily fall out. We had to keep pulling him up and taking him out to prevent him falling. The atmosphere from the staff at the restaurant was prickly so we did not feel able to ask for another high chair. In the end we ordered 2 ham sandwiches, a fish finger sandwich, pie and chips and a portion of chips along with 3 fruitshoots and 2 diet cokes. This came to £41.00! The prices are extremely expensive, yea the food was good quality but still, £41.00 is very steep for what was ordered!The resturant gives an impression of professional and italian cuisine but the Italian options are not exactly traditional. The customer service is not exactly warm and welcoming and their audacity to cater pizza for two families but not us is out of order. Even If we were staying on the caravan park they are situated in, I would not come here again or recommend to any family member or friend. Overall we were extremely disappointed with our visit.

Ate her on a Tuesday night during holidays. Very friendly staff , Hi to women with lime green nails and women who told us all about a pornstar martini :). The dining area was really nice and made for a great atmosphere. Food was delicious and freshly cooked (open kitchen). We didn't feel rushed at all , and would like to thank every member of staff, you are all great xx

As a group we are here twice and both were fantastic meals. We did the Sunday roast and all we cooked perfectly, lots of additional plates of vegetables and make sure you try their mash potato. It’s a dreamy buttery mash sensation. We then went on a Thursday for the eve menu and again didn’t disappoint. We sat outside in the evening sun with good views of the lake with lights in the trees. The kids said the pizza’s were some of the best they’ve ever had. The Sirloin was cooked to perfection as was the seabass and the Salmon. We shared starters and again all spot on. King Prawns we’re juicy and the Calamari was light and crisp and we tried the aubergine special which made a nice change. Service very attentive and on hand when needed. Well recommended

Went to the lakes restaurant for our belated wedding Anniversary and had a brilliant mealThe staff were amazing considering how busy they were and there was very little waiting around between coursesJordan and Gino the two barmen were great serving everything from coffees to cocktails always with a smile We enjoyed it so much we returned for lunch the next day and sat out by the lake and enjoyed the surroundings We will definitely be returning soon!!
