Really impressed with Basil's restaurant! Visited here for lunch whilst holidaying in the area and their homemade cheesecake range looked amazing! We opted for the strawberry and white chocolate one which we took away and that was very good quality. We also had the sausage and onion chutney paninis and they were really good. Very generous with the onion chutney and lovely butchers sausages. The homemade coleslaw was also very nice. The restaurant is very modern, light and vibrant, really nice décor and very welcoming. It's a lovely little garden centre too with lots of nice things to look at. Was gutted I didn't get to see their gorgeous spaniel dog Jack this time, but hopefully next time! 🤞Will definitely make sure this is a place I make a point of visiting when I holiday here next year as the cheesecake is not to be missed!

Nice looking place , food looked nice although we only had cake. Not happy about a smelly rubbish bin on table and when I discreetly gave them some out of date sauce , one young lady snapped they were best before dates!! Rude and won’t be going again

Popped in for a spot of lunch. I opted for the Jacket potato with homemade chilli. Well it was wonderful and accompanied by a lovely fresh salad and coleslaw. The chilli had such a depth of flavour. Would definitely recommend.

Well, we had just had lunch at the excellent White Hart in Burgh but felt like a change for dessert. Not impressed at all. Staff looked demoralised, tired and indifferent. It was still busy with Sunday lunches at 3pm but staff just had no "go" about them . I asked about one of the puddings "chocolate cake with orange" and whether there were pieces of orange or just flavour .The waitress said she didn't know but when I asked if she could find out she just looked blank and said that's how they arrived ie they don't know and are not interested in finding out!! The puddings arrived with mixed up accompaniments and I had to ask at the till for milk for my tea. Having said that, the puddings were delicious - hot chocolate fudge cake definitely recommend that!! 😋

We were shown to a dirty table that wasn’t cleaned until I asked for it to be done! I also saw another table cleared without being cleaned down with wipe or spray! Yet ready for the next occupants. Toilets too felt dirty. I feel a total lack Of management and training for their very young staff. Food otherwise was good ! Train your staff people before an episode shuts you down!

Food absolutely shocking. Such a shame as setting is lovely. As a family of four, only one meal was ok. The rest of us only partially ate our meals. I actually left 3/4 of my meal. There was also a dog poo left on the grass next to the cafe seating. I get it, the owner of the dog should have picked it up. But it shouldn’t have just been left there. Won’t be back. Took a while to get all of our order delivered as well, 1 drink came well after the meal and the onions rings were obviously cooked after the rest of our order was delivered. Needs massive improvements. Review; lasagna dry and tasteless, burgers just terrible, Childs macaroni cheese ok.

Been here 3 times now. First time had Sunday roast which was really enjoyable although bigger portions would've been welcomed. Only negative was the red cabbage (which I'm not keen on) was served on a platter with the other vegetables. As a result they were all coloured red from the bleeding red cabbage which was a bit off putting. My second meal here was from the specials board which was ham, egg and chips. Yummy. No complaints on this one. Yesterday I decided to try the wholetail scampi. I was not impressed. 8 10p sized pieces mainly consisting of breadcrumbs. Chips served in a mini basket and peas in a ramequin. The mini meal was bulked out with salad and coleslaw (which I left as I'm not keen on either) which I don't think was in the description on the menu. I certainly won't be ordering this one again. Overall this is a nice place to visit. They have a separate dog friendly area (although on my visit yesterday there was a dog running loose in the main restaurant). Reasonable prices but portion sizes could be a bit bigger.

With family recently moving to the area, we have often driven past this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We visited for lunch. We sat down took off coats and picked up menus. Immediately a waitress arrived to take our order. We asked for some time to decide. We were still studying the menus when the somewhat impatient waitress returned, asking if we wanted to order. Again we asked for more time to decide! Finally we made our choices. Hubby had scampi which was well presented and he enjoyed his meal. However, I have an unusual and not recognised intolerance, and asked if the peas which were to be served with my steak and Guinness pie could be replaced with a little salad. This didn’t seem to be a problem. I will add here, I often make this request and the substitution is made without further issue. When the bill arrived, I questioned why the cost was £1.50 over what it should have been. “It’s for your salad” replied the waitress….. I explained I had no peas so surely the salad was substituted for peas? No…. that wasn’t the case! Unbelievable!! We won’t be returning……

We called in for some lunch,we were sat there for approximately 20 minutes. In that time 2 members of staff walked past our table a couple of times and never even acknowledged us or asked if our order had been taken. Then they proceeded to serve other customers that clearly came in after us.We then decided to leave after such poor service, my wife complained to a staff member and got the excuse that they were short staffed.Funny how they had plenty of time to mess about behind the counter instead of working. We shall never set foot in there again and shall tell a lot of other people not to either.

Since moving to the area recently we’ve visited Basil’s several times, and previously been very impressed with the standard of the food on offer. Certainly better than any other garden centre we’ve visited. This time we visited on a Friday at about 2pm for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food, as usual, was delightful. What really spoilt our visit was that while we sat eating, two members of staff were cleaning around us. One lady hoovering, another mopping the floors. Not in a separate, closed off area of the restaurant, which would have been bad enough, but actually around us and other customers who were consuming their purchases. You might expect this in a dingy cafe (although I wouldn’t) but not in a licensed restaurant. If you want to compete with similar venues in your price bracket you must stop this and up your game. You’re no longer our No 1 choice in the area.

I have visited Basil’s Coffee Shop and Resturant twice now for Sunday Lunch and I believe this is absolutely the best Sunday Lunch in the area. High quality ingredients cooked to perfection, and the potato au gratin are not to be missed. We went then took the in-laws who are 70 and 80 and they absolutely loved it too. This place is not to be missed if you want a Sunday Lunch about the ordinary.

We love this place and have now ventured out for the first time with me in a wheelchair. Excellent for easy access even for beginners like us. We took our daughter and son-in-law with us. We had four different meals, homemade beef burger, chicken burger, chilli and lasagne. Each meal was perfect with homemade chips on the burgers and lovely salad. Daughter and son-in- law managed to share a sweet as we were all so full. We had drinks and lattes and would give it all more than full marks. We will be returning in the school holidays with the grandchildren as well. Service was very friendly and quick. We went in at 2.30 as it’s a little less busy then. We even bought a cute cuddly rat doorstop on the way out. Could not have wished for a more enjoyable trip.

Wow, why this place gone downhill so quickly. Very poor experience this week, lemonade served without the cordial being added, warmed up floppy and overdone chips served with a bacon and Brie toasted sandwich when I ordered a brie and bacon ciabatta roll, bacon cooked and warmed up again and very little ( if any) brie. Waitress wore an extremely dirty apron and on my trip t.o the loo the floor was covered in loo paper confetti! Made me look at the cafe floor, wish I hadn’t, dirty and dusty. The expresso machine reverberates around the room and you can’t hear yourself speak. On previous occasions have been served by a rude waitress who gave us a wide berth this time, thank goodness. I’ve visited Basils with my family nearly every six weeks since it opened, but I was asked to meet friends there this coming week, I point blankly refused - no not for me, and as a Skegness resident this is sad, whoever is in charge needs to review, staff, food and environment before it’s too late.

Awful drinks, this place has benches and tables along the front which cannot be used unless you purchase so we went for coffee - they do not serve decaf! A coffee place without decaf in 2024! Hot coffee and coffee was £5.80, they had no lids, no extras offered on the hot chocolate. Go along the parade to Butlins for a lovely hot choc, with extras for less and benches a plenty with a friendly service plus you even get a biscuit. Bibby's felt unwelcoming, poor on service and customer needs. Only the front counter looked open and the prices were insane for a coastal basic snack bar. Not going back, there was horrible grain in the bottom of the cup which didn't even look like chocolate 😕 I threw it away and went to sit on the wall. Needs to up its game for 2025 and be appealing as the competition is much better.
