We popped in after trying to find somewhere for Sunday lunch. Not being local we didn’t know the area but as we had had a bad experience at the Fleece Inn the day before (very rude and shouted at us that they were closed when we tried to go in for a drink despite having no signage) we were very happy to find this pub. The staff were very friendly and chatty, the food was good and value for money excellent. Ended up having dessert and a few unexpected cocktails too! Would definitely recommend and be visiting again when we’re back in the area.

Unfortunatly this pub is not doing food so this is just to let people know. I spoke to barman there may be food served again in June 2024! However pubs been closed for last two nights, my guess is that business is very slow and its not viable. Once again from my own experience pub is in transition with Landlords/Ladies. My suggestion is check out their website I am sure they will update that when food is available again. If you intend to rent Curch Bell View cottage at the back of pub in the near futureyou may wish to read my review which I will publish about 13th 14th May if your coming on 10th you will see for yourself the issues I have raised with owners.

Despite living locally for 12 years we’d never been to the Bell Hotel and thought we ought to give it a try. It turned out to be not what we were expecting - not really “hotel” standard!! There was just one room, not particularly inspiring decor, with a bar, tables, TV, pool table and darts. It was definitely a locals pub with quite a large number of people drinking, a group of fairly noisy young men playing pool and rather a lot of loud music. I guess we were expecting a restaurant, or at least a quieter eating area and we were definitely more formally dressed for restaurant dining! The welcome we received was somewhat abrupt - we announced our arrival at the bar with the words “we booked a table for 7:00”, only to be greeted with the reply “we don’t take bookings”. [If that was the case why didn’t the lady who’d answered the phone tell us that, instead of agreeing to a date and time???] However the food (all very ordinary pub grub) was very tasty and not too pricey. Portion size was reasonable and my husband loved the great range of traditional “puddings”, tucking into a huge slab of bread and butter pudding swimming in custard…….apparently amazing!!! Service was friendly and cheerful. This is not the sort of place we’d return to for a special meal but its fine for a straight-forward bite to eat, if you’re happy with a fair amount of noise.

I stayed one night. Booked on the day and got very good rate for bed and breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. The room I was given was a single with en-suite bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean. Unfortunately the one bedroom window was locked shut as was the bathroom window. No fresh air available. Didn’t sleep well. They did not serve food that night so had to go out. They recommend The Fleece Inn. Had a lovely meal there. Breakfast from 8-9am was a disappointment only option was “full English” with 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown and 1/2 tomato and baked beans, 1 piece of white bread toast. I think I saw a few tiny boxes of cereal next to the two boxes of juice. The coffee and tea was tea bags and instant coffee next to the urn of boiling water. The cups were tiny espresso cups which could hardly accommodate the tea bag and a drop of hot water. The food arrived in good time BUT it was greasy and apart from the fried egg everything else was refried and recycled, I didn’t ask for the hash brown but I got it anyway. I tried a bit of everything but it was “gross”. When I politely mentioned to the young manager lady (who cooked the breakfast) about the tiny Coffey cups, she said “well all you have to do is keep refilling it as many times as you want” Overall, for a one night and last minute booking I suppose I should accept you don’t get much if the price is low. I definitely won’t be going back there again.

We asked if we could order food. We're told we could. So, we ordered drinks and were asked to order when ready. Then, when my wife went to order, she was told food was not served on Sundays. We would not have had driinks if we had known this to start with. The point is, shouldn't bar staff know? You couldn't make it up!

We stayed here in 2022 at the same time as our latest visit which is our wedding anniversary. Decided to give it a go once more as we were impressed last time. We were not disappointed, clean , spacious room ( no 2) . Staff very pleasant an courteous, food very good and plentiful. A good place for touring around. Would recommend the air museum nearby on Thursday when a Lancaster is run up. Mablethorpe is well worth a trip. Please be careful of the twisty roads. Highlight is a trip to Gibraltar point nature reserve outside Skegness which is very tranquil , with a good cafe Wondering whether to call at the Bell, next year during our.50th wedding anniversary trips out……….Hmm, .

We went to stay overnight at the Bell pub in Burgh le Marsh , Lincolnshire on Saturday 8th April. Unfortunately we were not informed that they had an event on. Upon arrival everything seemed fine, the room was clean and tidy although the tv was faulty, we told the landlord but he didn't seem too bothered. Back to the event which was a comedian + disco, we were in room 7 which was directly above the room the event was in. The event started about 6pm. My husband and I went out and returned about 9.30pm, by this time our room was vibrating with the noise, we asked to be moved but were told they were full. I asked the landlord what time they closed he shrugged his shoulders and replied "how longs a piece of string ". He had a total disregard for our situation, he couldn't have cared less. We went downstairs in the morning for our breakfast and there was no one there. We left our keys on reception desk and left. They didn't even have the courtesy to ring and check that we were OK. It seems to me that all they care about is the money, if you want a good night's sleep then please don't stay here. Ps the event went on until 1am by which time we were so stressed we couldn't sleep anyway.

Went for an evening meal, on arrival we ordered our drinks and asked if we could order food and was greeted with if you hurry up you've got 10 minutes to make up your mind, I assume he was the landlord but needs to be a bit more customer friendly, no greeting or smile. We did order and the food arrived quickly and was nicely cooked, the only thing we didn't like was that instead of proper chips it came with fries ( I assume frozen) It's a shame we weren't made to feel a bit more welcome as we might have gone back again however didn't feel that he wanted strangers in there just locals.

Having looked at the reviews prior to our visit, I was unsure of our reception. We needn’t have worried, the stay was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable (room2), needing a little TLC but being picky. The food in the bar and at breakfast was excellent and the staff can’t be faulted. We used The Bell as a base for travelling around and this was ideal with easy access to everything we needed. We will hopefully return

Wow what an assortment of reviews on this pub/hotel. Like others We stayed in one of the bungalows behind the Hotel. THEY ARE IN THE HOTEL CAR PARK BUT THE HOTEL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM, just in case anyone thinks they are connected. I had no problem with internet service or telephone signal and despite being 65 remembered the four figures for the key code of my cottage. So no issues for my internet and telephone signal. I did not have any issues with bins, flys, parking or noise, just to put some non pub reviews in perspective. Pub great, pub food great, staff great and helpful. I am an honest man so will say that the place could do with a bit of TLC but you could argue its decor adds to atmosphere. We used the pub for several of our evening meals, quick service good food, staff interacted with us I had no complaints, as non residents of the hotel I was a bit cheeky on our last evening and asked if we could have breakfast in the hotel in the morning and they said yes, luved the brekkie and if I was a hotel resident would have no issues with the breakfast. This hotel has real potential as a restraunt, pub and hotel. It is clear that in current financial climate this may take time but based on my interactions and use, I have to say I would recommend the Pub and the Pub food ( Not a seperate restraunt) to anyone the Hotel breakfast good as well if you intend staying there.

Coming across this pub was a happy accident as we were looking for somewhere for tea whilst on hols. The team were unbelievably friendly and welcoming, and the food was fantastic. We’re still talking about it! Proper home cooked meals, nice and hot and HUGE portion sizes! The pub itself is lovely and then there even ended up being some entertainment on in the evening which we stayed for! Called in The Bell after a walk around the village. The blackboard outside said lunches served until 2.30 pm (it was 2.00 pm when we arrived). We were told the the kitchen was closing as they weren’t very busy but after a quick ask by the lovely young guy behind the bar we were told we could order. We ordered what we thought would be a “light lunch” of sandwiches with a side order of chips. Wow! The food arrived and it was absolutely gorgeous. The meats were so thick and tasty and the bread was “proper white bread”! Absolutely gorgeous. The chips were “chip shop” style. We would definitely return here for food (been going for many years for drinks with family in the lovely beer garden) and would certainly recommend a trip here. Well done guys!!

My son was doing a fund raiser by cycling from Derby to Skegness and we need a place to stay over night. Found The Bell Hotel on a web site at only £45 for the 3 of us for the night. So to be honest wasn't expecting much. How wrong I was! Alan the manager was fantastic, Andrew couldn't have been more helpful, (In fact every member of staff was great). We were allow to put our bikes inside over night to keep them secure. The whole hotel had a warm & friendly atmosphere. Room was warm, and the bed was comfy, tip, take soap as there was no complimentary soap, but @ £15 each for the night I am not complaining and they do supply towels. Another tip don't park under the apple tree when the apples are ripe. They don't do breakfast but there is a cafe across the road. In our experience there were no negatives. All I would suggest is that the Bell on the front of the Hotel is painted, a little weeding and sweeping on the from and see if Bateman's could put up new signs.

Have eaten regularly at this pub for a couple of years, when it changed hands we stuck with the new owners despite a drop in service and an absent landlord. Last month the usual meal deal had gone up in price from £25 to £30 which was not outrageous but we were not allowed to open the free bottle of wine that came with the meal and consume it on the premises, being forced to purchase extra drinks. Having visited this establishment for what has turned out to be the last time I found that the meal deal (which we were not told of in advance) had now gone up to £38, a massive leap from the original £25. I won't be frequenting this pub any more, the staff are trying their hardest but are lacking leadership.

Complimentary olives and bread filled a hole for all of us as we waited for our mains, however we were bowled over by the size of the mains when they did arrive. They were huge!!! We arrived in Burgh Le Marsh at 1.50pm on a Friday and were more than a little surprised to find that practically everywhere was closed. Although the exterior of The Bell was not particularly prepossessing, there seemed to be no other choice for a hot lunch so we gave it a try and I am so pleased that we did. The interior is a little tired and dated, although it seemed to be very clean and tidy and the barman was immediately extremely welcoming, friendly, polite and courteous - a very good sign. Fortunately we were in time for the last food orders (which was at 2.15pm) and we both chose the Mini Mixed Grill. This was served very quickly and the food was hot, fresh and incredibly tasty. Service was also excellent. At a total cost of under £19.00 for the two meals plus two drinks, this was incredibly reasonably priced for a really well cooked, well presented and well served lunch. Hats off and a most heart-felt 'thank you' to the chef and the barman!

We ate here on a Thursday night and had the Steak Special (think it was two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25, or something like that). We had the ribeye steaks and they were delicious, as was the Jack Rabbit Merlot wine. We added in starters - we both had the squid which was excellent. They even brought out olives and bread before the starters. We enjoyed it so much that we went back on the Friday for the Fish Special (any two dishes from the fish page of the menu plus wine). We both had the sea bass which was fantastic, and followed it with the honeycomb cheesecake (which had run out the previous night, so we were glad to see it was on this time!). Portions were a good size, food was excellent, staff were friendly, and the warm log fire was appreciated on a cold November night. On the Thurs we got the last remaining table (surprisingly busy at 6pm but I think a lot of people were making use of the special offer which is until 6pm), so we booked a table for the Friday. The only minor downside was no real (still) cider, only fizzy Strongbow or fizzy bottles, but that is only what you'd expect for a village pub, and everything else was amazing. Medium sized car park approached down the little Jacksons Lane alongside the pub

this is a brilliant pub good beers and great food, but the icing on the cake is what wins every time great staff, if you are going for a meal take your appetite with you, and to save a young lady from temptation order the Lemon Cheese cake, the best I have tasted

We used to be regulars here visiting at least once a week, when Rob & Renata were here and we certainly have given the new tenants a good chance ( nearly 6 months! ) even though most locals have deserted them long since, however enough is enough as they're just getting worse instead of better, they have no idea on people skills, the food can be hit and miss and the portion sizes have gone down greatly to what they used to be! We've just had enough of their bad attitude so won't be returning, there's plenty of friendlier pubs locally to go to instead!

Awful management service today, after pre booking 4 days before, we arrived today and they had totally screwed up our table, wrong name, incorrect number of people, not included a dog. Landlord called my young daughter a lier !!!! Absolutely disgusted. The fleece in 50m away is a home from home, food is excellent and you are made to feel part of their family. Would 100% recommend fleece, avoid the Bell like the plague !!!!!!!!!

I went into the bell hotel for a meal with the family. When i arrived i was rudly spoken to and the staff didnt seem to care. One looked like she had been helping her self to drink all even and we see her drop someones meal all over them, And there was no apologie for this either. This place is not up to date with the world. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone with the way we was treated.

We ate here as a large family party. We arrived early and had a few drinks in the bar area and were made to feel welcome. There was a good selection of local ales from Bateman's. We ate in the breakfast room which was nice as we had it to ourselves. The service throughout was good despite them being very busy. Up to 6pm the choice is frkm the lunch menu which was fine for us as there is still plenty of choice. Everyone enjoyed their meals including deserts (chocolate peanut cheese cake recommended). The only thing to watch was the chilli which was very spicy. Overall excellent and well worth calling in for food. We also managed to buy a picture by a local artist !

Lovely little pub, we went for a family meal yesterday and all of our meals were really tasty, portions are very generous (loved the triple cooked chips!) We were allowed to bring the dog in and they brought treats over for the dog which is a nice touch. Warm crusty bread and olives are brought out whilst you wait for your food again a nice touch. Prices are very reasonable & you're getting a good portion of home cooked food, didn't have room for any puddings but I'm sure they would of been just as good. The attitude of the staff is fantastic lots of smiley faces and abit of friendly banter gives a nice atmosphere. The only downside is that we don't live nearer as we'd definitely return, highly recommended for a tasty home cooked meal or a friendly drink

After having The Bell recommended we decided to go and see for ourselves. We weren’t disappointed, the atmosphere, service and food was superb. They couldn’t do enough to accommodate us with my father in law struggling to walk. Will definitely be returning.

The staff are welcoming, friendly and accomodating. We also call in regularly in February every year as a group of adults on our way to butlins Skegness . We have always been made very welcome and have now made this a regular stop on our travels . Can highly recommend the place in all respects .. Well worth a visit !!

We stayed at The Bell for a night whilst visiting friends. From booking to checking out we received warm and friendly service from all. Whilst we only had time for breakfast in the morning (cooked by Steve and fantastic), the pub was full of people during the day and meals looked lovely. If you're looking for a genuine British pub/hotel that offers a warm welcome, fantastic food, at an affordable price...this is the place. Thank you

Decided on the spur of the moment to book somewhere for a couple of nights and couldn’t have chosen a better place. Rooms and bar a bit tired but everywhere clean. Our room was spacious and bed comfortable. All the meals were amazing one of the best steaks we’ve ever had and you would never leave hungry. All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Bus stop outside for Skegness. If you’re prepared to look beyond the decor you won’t get a better place. Great value for money.

Not stayed at the hotel but we go regularly when they have live entertainment which is normally Friday or Saturday. No extra charge when the entertainment is on. The bell is under new management and they are making a good job of it. Friendly staff and good food. You don't feel ripped of by the prices either

Popped in for a impromptu meal as a party of 8 and they could not have been more accommodating. Everyone had a different meal and all were delicious and very good value for money. Bread and olives as a complimentary appetiser. Meals large enough to satisfy any appetite with plenty of fresh vegetables and salad. Can absolutely recommend.

Popped in on the way out of Skegness, and really glad we did! Very warm welcome and excellent, very generously portioned food! Fish and Chips / Gammon, Egg and Chips were great - and despite it being lunch, I couldn't resist the Treacle Sponge. Yum!

We visited here for breakfast after a very busy morning packing up our tent to go home after a stay at a nearby campsite (extra points for being dog friendly!). All very hungry there were plenty of options to choose from and even the option to build your own breakfast which was great for my daughter who wouldn’t eat a full breakfast but would still like certain items! The staff were lovely, the service was quick and the food was delicious! Extra shoutout to the iced latte and the big buts breakfast. It was amazing! We will definitely be returning when we are back in Anderby. Thank you!

Spotted from the car park and decided to stop for a coffee. There was some seating outside so perfect for anyone with dogs. It was a beautiful spring day so we also decided to have some cakes and a cheese scone. I have to say the cakes were fab and the cheese scone was the best I have ever had. Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended.

After having had a fantastic experience here midweek during the summer, we promised ourselves we would be back for Sunday dinner. We booked by email, which was confirmed within minutes, Howe when we arrived there was no record of the booking. I was able to find the confirmation email. We were told that we could be accommodated but it would have to be in the bar area as there were 3 other bookings which already had restaurant tables reserved. We were advised to pick a table and they would set it up for us. We showed them where we would like to sit and waited for someone to bring some seating to the table. After 10 minutes we were still standing so found a different table which had seats in place. (We had already informed them that my husband was recovering from a broken ankle) Eventually the waitress came and gave us cutlery and placemats but no salt and pepper. She took our meat orders and I asked whether the veg would include cauliflower cheese, as I would like to not have it, as I have an allergy/intolerance. We waited a further half an hour for our meals, which came with the vegetables served on a tray, including the cauliflower cheese. There was only one spoon which was resting in the cheese sauce so I had to request another one. I then dished myself up a spoonful of swede/carrot mash and one broccoli floret. I did try to dish up some cabbage but found that when lifted from the plate, the cabbage came out from under the cauliflower cheese and covered in the sauce, so I had to not have cabbage. After the meal, the waitress came to clear the table. She dropped some vegetables on the tablecloth and asked if we wanted puddings to which I responded yes. After waiting for 38 minutes with no sign of the waitress to clean the table or take our pudding order, we decided to leave. On taking our payment the bar staff asked if everything had been ok, so I mentioned the above. He simply said, ‘sorry about that ‘but the mains were ok?’ I chose not to continue with the conversation, as my husband had overheard the barman say that he was going to rip someone’s head off. We are really disappointed as we had been telling everyone about how good our experience in the summer was. To top it all, there was a very large dog in the area which smelled strongly and a group of young children also came and used the pool table right next to us, despite there being a notice advising that nobody under 16 was allowed to use it. Another customer did point it out but was ignored. One or two little things we could have overlooked/forgiven but unfortunately there were too many today and we won’t be back

An unassuming little place that offers a friendly welcome and excellent, attentive service. It's got a cosy, slightly bio/eco feeling with very interesting plants and an insect hotel outside the door. Menu is limited but more than adequate for a light lunch or afternoon tea. Nice music playing unobtrusively in the background too. A really great touch is their bottomless cup for tea or coffee. Blink and you'll miss this place as you drive along the busy and fast A52 between Boston and Skegness. It's on a cross-roads just after the main Friskney village turn-off travelling NE. But DON'T miss it because it really is a worthwhile pit-stop. Opposite, down the lane towards the Wash, there is some brilliant wild walking.
