It was freezing outside so we were delighted to be sat next to the fire. The food was superb, especially the venison pie, with the mash, red cabbage and greens side all excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. A pretty much faultless experience!

Fantastic Family Meal at The Oakover Arms! We had a brilliant family meal tonight at The Oakover Arms, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! The Indian dishes were absolutely delicious—full of rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff making sure everything was just right. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Highly recommend The Oakover Arms for anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

The restaurant itself is accessible, providing you don’t need to use any facilities (toilets). If you’re in a wheelchair then you can forget it. After a lovely meal I needed to use the toilet before we left as we had a 40 min drive back home. But there was no disabled/accessible toilet. My partner highlighted this to the staff and the manager came. She asked me if I wanted to use the gents! She said she would block it off for me. For context I am a young women. It’s unsafe for me without using grabrails. I ended up having to travel half a mile away and use some dark and dingy disabled toilets up the road!

Lovely setting! Friendly and helpful!Lovely menu and fantastic food. The staff are amazing and so helpful. Real log fires crackling away, great atmosphere, we were a couple with a dog and treated amazingly. Thank you, will be back a few more times before we go home. The pub has a little shop as well for all your needs. Thanks.

Stayed here for one night whilst walking the Limestone way. Room was spacious and comfortable and breakfast was really tasty. Was great to see the cows on the farm and to watch the birds in the garden on the feeder. A little bit remote in terms of location and we could hear the owners in the room below during the early evening.

The Jug and Glass was perfect in every way. Great staff, very clean, great food and very comfortable accommodation. Vicky, Daryl and Kayla looked after us and we left after 3 fabulous days hoping to return some day. Couldn’t fault our few days. Vicky is an exceptional host.

We booked to try Callow Hall as it had been recommended by friends. We went for dinner. Firstly, the setting is beautiful and the dining room beautifully done with a nice atmosphere. Sadly though, our experience didn’t match up to our expectations. The dining room, whilst beautiful is very poorly lit, to the point where it isn’t easy to see what you’re eating. Indeed we and other people were using our phone torches to read the menu! The food, whilst nice enough, is over priced for what it is, especially the puddings. Our starters were served without the offer of bread, even though side plates and knives were laid at the table. Our main course was slow to be served. We waited a while for our side dishes which were brought out one at a time resulting in the main course being virtually cold once we started eating. The plates were cold so I suspect it wasn’t very hot before the wait in any case. Puddings at £17 for what was essentially a small, not very tasty Swiss roll with ice cream were ridiculously priced. Such a shame as it promised so much. We won’t be rushing back.
