Lovely setting! Friendly and helpful!Lovely menu and fantastic food. The staff are amazing and so helpful. Real log fires crackling away, great atmosphere, we were a couple with a dog and treated amazingly. Thank you, will be back a few more times before we go home. The pub has a little shop as well for all your needs. Thanks.

Stayed here for one night whilst walking the Limestone way. Room was spacious and comfortable and breakfast was really tasty. Was great to see the cows on the farm and to watch the birds in the garden on the feeder. A little bit remote in terms of location and we could hear the owners in the room below during the early evening.

We stayed here for one night so we could take advantage of a lovely walk in the Peak District. The pub is well located for such walks. It’s extremely dog friendly which I love, dogs are allowed inside the pub & to stay in the rooms. The pub was really well decorated & I loved the map of the area on the wall showing walk ideas. There was garden too but we didn’t go out there so I can’t comment other than to say I know there is one. Rooms were really nice. Beds comfy, beautiful views of the countryside & sheep whist your sitting in bed. My friend had stayed here before & commented that it had been refurbished since she was last here. Tea, coffee & cans of mineral water in the rooms along with towels to use. Food was phenomenal. We had dinner & breakfast (breakfast was included in our room rate). There was nothing at all to fault over the food. Lots of choice & just all good. Service was slow, I think this is mostly down to very young staff. The manageress was brilliant & jumped in & helped as much as possible but it was slow. However the food was worth the wait & I would recommend this pub for good and/or to stay over.

We visited here twice in 5 days, the first time for lunch and the second for their Tuesday special Curry Night. On both occasions the food was amazing. With one of the owners having Indian heritage and the chef being Indian, their Indian menu offerings are truly exceptional and I would struggle to identify a restaurant that I have used where the food has been better. The Oakover arms is truly first class and recommended. Oh.... and they have a special menu just for dogs!

The restaurant itself is accessible, providing you don’t need to use any facilities (toilets). If you’re in a wheelchair then you can forget it. After a lovely meal I needed to use the toilet before we left as we had a 40 min drive back home. But there was no disabled/accessible toilet. My partner highlighted this to the staff and the manager came. She asked me if I wanted to use the gents! She said she would block it off for me. For context I am a young women. It’s unsafe for me without using grabrails. I ended up having to travel half a mile away and use some dark and dingy disabled toilets up the road!

Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Pub was very quiet, two tables taken in the main bar, we were told that the other tables were reserved, so had to sit in the rather gloomy back room. Told that food could only be served outside on the patio (due to staff shortages), which is close to the busy A515, no food service on the other quieter area away from the road. When we left there were no customers on the reserved tables in the main bar. Food was good and quick service.

I was camping at trail view camp site and went for a walk with fellow campers and stopped for a few slurps .. got a flat pint but the elderly bar maid was amazing and noticed the young lad had served it and stopped him and changed it straight away … worth her weight in gold that lady thanks again

I was staying at the hotel so also had the breakfast and packed lunch, which were included in the price. However, I chose to have dinner in the restaurant each night as well and was not disappointed so will review that. First night I had pork tenderloin, the second chicken ballotine and finally the guinea fowl. All beautifully served and extremely well cooked. I really like the fact that the glasses of wine are very well priced so you do not feel as though you are paying over the odds in comparison to a bottle (although I am sure they would have saved a bottle for me behind the bar so I could have a glass from it each night). Along with the food, what really stands out are the staff - delightful and whenever I have gone I feel very well looked after particularly as I am a solo traveler. They have kept some of the outdoor pods (well, small greenhouses to be fair) that were installed during the pandemic, which means if you want to dine with your dog you can. Unfortunately, my dog is too excitable in an enclosed space when food is around so not an option for me (although would probably provide some entertainment for those dining in the conservatory part of the restaurant).

The soup ( carrot and coriander ) was very nice. I also liked the option to choose white or brown bread. The cakes were also really good and the jacket potatoes looked large and filling. I also loved how dog friendly it was with a special menus for the furry pals!
