Great choice for lunch out. After a pleasant walk through the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire, we stopped for lunch and so glad we did. A wide choice of dishes hot and cold from salads to mezes to traditional burgers, plus lots, lots more including suitable choices of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. I opted for the delicious chicken with tagliatelle. A generous helping. Good range of drinks from typical traditional ales to cocktails and wines, plus many non-alcoholic alternatives. Or simply coffee or tea. Overall, a pleasant lunch in a beautiful Derbyshire village.

Great meal with friendly staff. GF friendly too. Just make sure that you book in advance. We booked for Tuesday at 18:00 and when we arrived they were turning people who hadn't booked away. Although we did not bring our mutt, they were made very welcome.

I was recommended this place by a friend and we went tonight. We hadn’t booked a table unfortunately so when we arrived they said they would try and fit us in but we would have to wait awhile. We were more than happy to wait. We had a drink and sat by a lovely open fire. Before we were even half way down our drink. They had managed to get us a table. The food was absolutely gorgeous homemade, fresh, large portions and piping hot. Couldn’t fault it. Unfortunately I just didn’t have room for a dessert but my sons did and said again they were lovely. The atmosphere was so homely and welcoming. We will be back again.

Bit late submitting this, but life has been hectic. We were staying nearby for the late May Bank Holiday weekend. 23 of us in total, from 8 months to 75, so decided to book for the Sunday lunch. We're not an easy group, children, vegetarians and vegans in the mix, but the pub did us proud. We had preordered which helped. It was REALLY busy being a holiday weekend, and the food was a little bit late, but it was well worth the wait. For each course, everybody's arrived at the same time, which is no mean feat with such a big party. The food was really good. My daughter in law said it was the best Sunday dinner she'd ever had. As one of the vegetrians I was a bit disappointed that the choice for the roast was only sausages rather than something like a nut roast, but everything else was perfect and huge dishes of vegetables to share . My son and granddaughter are both Leeds United fans and were a bit nervous about missing the playoff that day, but the pub put us in the room with the big secreen and sat us at 2 long tables uderneath it, so they were very happy, apart from the result! ALL the staff were really friendly and helpful and there was a great atmosphere in the place. if ever we are staying in the area again, I would definitley eat here. Thank for looking after us all so well.

Great find at the bottom of our garden! We had the chicken skewers and lamb shank followed by ice cream and mini eggs as it was Easter weekend! What a great meal the staff were very friendly and the fire was gorgeous and helped us dry off from all of the wet walks! Can’t recommended this place enough! Even our dog Enzo enjoyed his time there although he was a bit edgy with Bess the Basset hound! Thank you for a great meal and evening!

Nice big car park with playground for children on the front lawn. Welcoming friendly traditional pub with open fire. Delicious sounding menu and a good selection of drinks. Cajun chicken kebabs and blade of beef were delicious and well presented as well as fish & chips from kid's menu. Few locals popping in for a drink, inclusive some on a tractor! We called in at last minute while on holidays.

This pub is a little gem in the beautiful village of Parwich, we travelled an hour and a half to eat here. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the fires make it so cosy and the food is amazing, value for money and so tasty. The portions are large. We shared the garlic mushrooms and honey mustard sausages between four of us to start, the sauce on the mushrooms was incredible (I need that recipe ! ) then two of us had the lamb, one steak and ale pie and one corn fed chicken supreme, all of which were so tasty and an absolute delight. We will be returning again, beautiful place and lots of lovely walks nearby 😃.

Visited as part of a group after a long walk. We were really impressed by the quality of the food, which was amazing. Generous portions of well cooked food served on warm plates with excellent vegetables, which were freshly cooked, piping hot and retaining crispness. We had a Friday night, family meal here. The children ordered small fish and chips and a burger, unlike other places that seem to think kids want processed versions of the real thing it was beautiful pieces of cod with crispy batter and a good quality burger. Adults had chicken skewers, pork fillet and a cod dish. All of it was beautiful and certainly the best pub food any of us have had in a long time. For anyone that has room, the puddings are equally stunning. In fact even if you don’t have room I’d recommend the biscotti cheesecake which was so nice none of even spoke to each other whilst eating it! Honestly this place has it all, brilliant staff, excellent food and lovely surroundings. There are also some of the most beautiful walks in the Peak District in the area if you need to walk the cheesecake off!

Great service as we pre ordered the food was on the table very quickly I had the steak pie chips and veg I would probably say the best steak pie I've ever had the chips were cooked to perfection, plus a whole bowl of veg, carrots, sugar snap peas, French beans, red cabbage, broccoli, and sprouts, I was so full but had to try a pudding treacle sponge and custard, which was equally as good as the main course, Overall great value for money will deffinatly be going back And to top it all off the pub is beautifully decorated for Christmas inside and out

We booked ahead as we were staying in the village, bagged a table next to a super multifuel stove. Wife and I fancied the Cumberland Scotch Egg, a little while later they arrived - a full egg in half, greens and a pot of loveliness to go with it, really good flavour and nice and hot. Then came the mains, wife had the Steak and Ale pie (obviously home made) fantastic chips and peas, mine was the stuffed pork fillet, which came with mash, gravy and separate veg - carrot, green beans and my favourite red cabbage! Feeling stuffed sweets were ordered - creme brulee for the wife and Biscoff cheesecake for me. Added to this was the local beer Trooper and great lager, a fine meal was had. Will we be back, you bet we will!!!!!!!

Would have liked to have eaten here but were thwarted twice! First was after trying to get through by phone (unanswered) we walked down to find it closed due to new floor being installed and got soaked on the walk back. Secondly after finally getting through to ask what time food was being served, walked down again to be told - no, we’re fully booked! Why not say we needed to book when we phoned! Not happy and will not try a third time!

Met friends here as a base for a walk so had no expectations about food. Although the menu was almost standard "pub grub" it was prepared to a high standard and very enjoyable. The waitress who also ran the bar was very pleasant and helpful.

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

Lovely venue for a mid morning brunch, limited seating but such a pleasant cafe.

Fantastic cafe, the icing on the cake (no pun intended) being the birds feeding next to the window. The staff are friendly and efficient and the the food is of a good standard and reasonably priced. I can't understand the few negative reviews, maybe some folk have unfeasibly high standards/expectations?

Friendly staff, generous, well cooked breakfast. Highly recommend. We'll definitely call again. Dog friendly too which is a bonus.

I was really hoping for the wholesome, home cooked food that the price tag promised. The bean casserole tasted like a tin of baked beans with a whole load of dried sage stirred in. The salad could have been bought in a bag at Asda. I won't be going back.
