Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The food was delicious. We had the chicken supreme roast (very tasty sauce) and all the trimmings and afterwards very yummy Bakewell tart. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing and the staff couldn’t be more helpful or quietly attentive. A really lovely way to spend a Sunday lunch time. We were on our way to the Buxton Opera house to see Evita so didn’t have time to make use of the very warm and inviting library / sitting rooms with an open fire for pre/post drinks. Many thanks to all the team at Biggin Hall. A memorable lunchtime and one to be repeated.

We came here for afternoon tea back in January, and told ourselves we need to try dinner here sometime. We finally made it last night and it was fantastic! The food was excellent, very well presented and extremely delicious. The cost of our meal was very reasonable too, £37.50 per person for three courses which included bread at the start and complimentary tea or coffee at the end. The service was also very good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Biggin Hall itself is a lovely location. We sat by a large window from where, although it was dark outside, we had lovely views over the lawn and outdoor seating. We will certainly be back 😀

My last review was entitled "Certainly worth returning to" and we now have, some two years later. Still a very pleasant location from the welcome and the pre-dinner drinks in the lounge through to the delightful dining room and orangery with views across the garden. The dinner was excellent, well cooked and well presented. We once again left saying "Why don't we come here more often?" Certainly we should as it makes for an excellent special meal out.

Used the restaurant for breakfast and dinner during my 3-night stay. The quality of the food is very good and it is nice that the dinner menu changes every night. The only issue I had was the fact that the first 2 nights, it was the same vegetables served with the meals most of which I did not like (red cabbage is not for me). However, asked fro something different on the 3rd night and my needs were met.

A complementary packed lunch was unexpected yet very welcome (they clearly know their audience), glass of Prosecco and a local ale in the fridge were very welcome after a long drive. We were a party of 24 and had pre-booked the conservatory for a get together lunch ( the first since Christmas 2019). We had pre drinks in the lounge and library which was lovely. We had pre -ordered our meals ( from a nice set menu ) with Paris the events lady , who was super organised and had arranged tabs at the bar for each couple so the whole thing was very smooth at the end , to settle up (everyone liked this ) . Food was fabulous , as was the service , couldn't fault it. Adam at the bar was great, served drinks , helped with the food service and the coffees, he was cheery and fun. We sat down at 1pm and didn't leave until nearly 5pm. There was plenty of room to mingle inside and outside so it was a great venue for our get - together. This is the 3rd visit to this venue for such an event and it won't be the last. Everyone had a great time, nice and relaxed , just what we needed. Thank you to Paris and staff , would not hesitate to recommend.

The restaurant clearly underwent a refurb over lockdown. It is now much lighter and airier with open views and the rather “up market cafe “ look has thankfully been replaced with something far more modern and in keeping with hotel. Young waiting staff were lovely and efficient. Male on reception charmless. Food disappointing…Brie in starter had not been taken out of fridge early enough and was tasteless, the advertised fig(s) with it was half a small fig. Pear starter had no texture other than soft and a bit mushy. Guinea fowl and sauce acceptable, mashed potato with the fish main was assessed by 2 diners as “odd”. All 4 of us agreed that the wine was good value and reasonably priced selection. Desserts were great…we assumed the pastry chef was a cut above as the panna cotta and cheesecake were delicious and really saved the meal. Lovely setting and certainly wasn’t a disaster but just about acceptable for the surroundings and the price ( though not exorbitant ) and was thus disappointing.

Visited in August for a family birthday treat and we were pleased at what we found. Seated in the library, the option was in a greenhouse in the garden, the staff were attentive, gloved and masked and could not have been more polite or helpful. Well done to the management, a well tained and professional staff. The food was good quality, although a little disappointed with the smoked salmon starter which had just one small piece of smoked salmon on the shredded prawns otherwise fine. The wines were at a reasonable price, although when billed the price was £1 more than advertised on the Wine Menu. May need attention to detail as little things like this do leave an impression, even if it was just £1. Certainly, however, a place to revisit for a special meal.

We were part of a group of friends who met for a University Reunion weekend. The location is very pretty and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. We had a courtyard room which was separate from the main building. The weather was quite wet when we stayed so coats and umbrellas/hats were needed to visit the main building. The hotel is quite small, but the style is very charming. There was a big log fire in the main public room, which was adjoined by a reading room. Our evening meal was to a high standard. Bearing in mind that they were catering for more than 30 of us, the staff did a fantastic job of ensuring the food was served virtually simultaneously for us all. I had the prawn and crab starter, followed by the lamb. For dessert I had the sticky toffy pudding. Wine was reasonably priced and good quality. We rounded off the evening with coffee and drinks. We had a very pleasant surprise as we were paying the bill. To aid us on our way and make sure we were fed on our journey, we were invited to help ourselves to sandwiches and drinks to take with us as a packed lunch. This really came in handy.I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet break in a beautiful part of the country, which offers much in the way of walking and cycling. Chatsworth House is not too far away (about 12 miles). Parking is available at the hotel.

Again another brilliant stay. Stayed at Biggin Hall Hotel on Sunday 1 September 2019 and it was fabulous. We booked the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package. The moment we arrived we were greeted by Lizzie the receptionist. Advised that our three (3) rooms were ready. The rooms we were allocated were all immaculate. We had a room for my elderly parents who cannot manage stairs so they had a room on the ground floor which is outside the main hotel but was wonderful and large. The room had a large king bed and a beautiful bathroom with a walk-in shower as well as a bath. One (1) of the other rooms was in the main hotel which was lovely with an immaculate bathroom with a separate shower, as well as a bath. Each room included a small bottle of Prosecco and a local beer (lovely touch) as well as tea and coffee and biscuits. The three (3) course meal was amazing. All meals cooked to perfection. The fillet steak melted in your mouth. The chicken was succulent and the pork was lovely and tender. The other dishes included salmon and a vegetarian dish which were all fantastic. All the waitresses were so attentive and looked after us to an amazing standard. After our evening meal we sat in the guest lounge where tea and coffee was available. The beds are very comfortable with lovely crisp sheets. The breakfast was also exceptional. The breakfast included juices, cereals, toast, croissants, fresh fruit and yogurts. A full Buffett breakfast was also available and was freshly cooked. There was also a Vegetarian option available as well. All morning waitresses were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful. After breakfast advised by a lovely waitress that included in our package was a packed lunch including freshly made sandwiches, bottle of water, fruit, biscuits and a packet of crisps. Absolutely brilliant. Biggin Hall Hotel is a fabulous place to stay. The food is amazing, the service is brilliant all the staff are just wonderful. We will definitely be back. Our room, no. 19, had low ceilings, for someone in excess of 6ft tall it wasn't great, only staying for 1 night so not a huge issue, however it would have been good to know beforehand about the reduced heights. The window opens out onto the roof and the kitchen extractor which was clearly not attractive and very noisy even when closed, this was not mentioned on booking also, we think we may of been put in this room as the hotel was full and this may of been the last room, if we'd of known about these issues we probably wouldnt of stayed here.

My pannacotta dessert was beautiful and tasty, and not smothered with sauce as is so often the case. After having a lovely lunch in the summer, we decided to have our friends 60 th birthday meal in this atmospheric historical hall. We dressed for a Christmas celebration and the reception was warm with a large open fire and twinkling lights on the Christmas tree. It was a real shame that the warmth didn’t extend to the waitress. There was no meet and greet and the menu was thrust upon us. We were made to feel that we were an inconvenience. Brushing her attitude to one side , we were out to have an enjoyable evening, we had an aperitif, ordered our meal, and waited to be shown through to the Dining room where we could hear other guests dining.

Limited choice afternoon menu however food was good the only gripe about this place is the staff. To be blunt we felt as if we were a inconvenience to them for being there. Would definitely never return

This is first class fayre at very reasonable prices. The hotel is a touch old fashioned, but can't fault the food.

Stayed in the hotel and had breakfast and dinner three times and the food and service was consistently good. We were in a large group of 22 and preordered dinner. There was always a very tasty selection of the three courses and also cheese board and the service was good. Best Bakewell tart ..yum yum

Amazing welcome, beautiful hotel and rooms. Meal in the restaurant was excellent value for money. 4 course meal for £25 and every course was delicious. Location is breath taking and ideal for cyclist as right on the Tissington trail. Breakfast all you can eat buffet, again delicious. Beds really comfortable and clean.

The price has gone up considerably. I was served an undercooked pork steak with almost raw vegetables - not the place I remember.

We had lunch, Expecting a fabulous meal, it was to our great disappointment that the price for the food had drastically increased by 40% or so, but it was no more better than it had been when price for lunch was 40% less a year or so earlier. The portions were small, particularly the main course fish. Vegetables were unimaginative with everyday cauli, carrots and broccoli being the only veg available. All of our party were of the opinion for the average food which we had the menu was very overpriced.

When checking in we were offered dinner at a discounted residents rate of £25 for three courses plus complimentary cheese and biscuits and coffee. Which was good value for money.

Five of us visited the restaurant for dinner. It was very busy but the friendly efficient service was evident from the word go. The dinner menu @ £27.50 is excellent value consisting of a starter, main, pudding, cheese, coffee & mints. I chose asparagus tips with shavings of Parmesan and a poached egg, my friends chose the parma ham & figs and there was also tomato soup or mackerel, all delicious; my main was slow braised beef which came with a quenelle of mashed potato, 2 roast potatoes and baby carrots plus a dish of veg, the sauce was delicious, the meat meltingly tender, my friends had confit of duck and trout was the 3rd option; pudding was warm croissant & white chocolate pudding served with a tart fruit coulis and raspberry ripple ice cream, truly scrummy, other choices were pannacotta with coulis or chocolate brownie. You can help yourself to cubes of assorted cheeses, chutneys, grapes and biscuits and then take coffee, tea & chocolate mints sat in their comfortable armchairs in the two lounges, one of which had a lovely open fire. The hotel is very popular sited as it is in a pretty little Peak District village, they have 40 rooms and can seat 50 in the dining room. My 4th visit and we shall definitely return.

Lovely warm welcome from all staff, private room for 16 of us to have pre-lunch drinks. Lunch was really good, we had pre-ordered as we were a large party and all the food, all three courses was ready at the right times and was served efficiently, all of the party were enthusing afterwards about their chosen dishes.

Beautiful Biggin Hall is located less than a mile off the A515 Ashbourne to Buxton road. The interior is delightfully traditional/period with several sitting rooms, one with an open fire in addition to the dining room itself. The evening menu is a fixed price three...

This was our second time visiting, for a walking weekend in the Peaks between Christmas and New Year. The room was warm and large, with lovely views over the snowy fields, and the complimentary Prosecco and Beer was a nice touch. Dinner was excellent - imaginative menu with everything cooked perfectly. Excellent atmosphere with the fires roaring during drinks before dinner. Staff always friendly and helpful. This hotel always feel unique and quirky - somewhere you remember and want to return to, as it is excellently located for walking.

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
