Stayed here for one night whilst walking the Limestone way. Room was spacious and comfortable and breakfast was really tasty. Was great to see the cows on the farm and to watch the birds in the garden on the feeder. A little bit remote in terms of location and we could hear the owners in the room below during the early evening.

We are staying here for three nights and could not be more pleased. The room is very comfortable with its own bathroom (electric shower). There is plenty of space and the standard is cleaning is very good. The hosts are welcoming and friendly. There is a good choice for breakfast, too. Finally, the setting is deep in the country, but close to local walks and sightseeing. Can recommend the tea shop in nearby Tissington, too.

We visited here after seeing the tearooms in tissington was quite busy and we are glad we did! Great value we both had a jacket potato and then I had a cream tea and the other half lemon drizzle. Service was fab, great value for money and all taste amazing. It was also dog friendly with plenty of parking. The really unique think about this place is the window in the corner of the tearooms that looks directly into the cow shed, there was a heifer stood licking the window while we were there and it was fabulous!

We took a detour on our walk and it was well worth it. The home made soup (leek and potato) was delicious, as was the cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney.

Stopped off on a detour from our walk, lovely views from the surrounding area. We ordered tea and tea cakes for two which was served on a spotless bone China tea set. The tea cakes were freshly toasted and served with butter and a dish of strawberry jam. The tea pot had a knitted tea cosy to keep the brew warm. Good atmosphere and loved the small window into the barn from which the calves could watch us! Will definitely return.

See review on Bassettwood, served cream that was off. No apologies and had to pay for the dish. Cream had been open for 5 days & was past it’s use by date .

We stayed here last night after a wedding at Tissington Hall. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was also excellent with local food. We would not hesitate to recommend that anyone should consider staying here.

This was an incredible find. Out on the moors but accessible by car we took our 103 yr old friend in her wheelchair and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon out in Derbyshire eating lovely soup and tasty cake whilst looking at the valley. It is just up above the old railway line from Ashbourne which served the mills in the area and is now a cycle/walking trail.

Had been here before and it was wonderful but knew it had changed hands so wanted to see if was just as good. Glad to say it is excellent and we had a really nice cream tea with lovely fresh, warm homemade scones with homemade jam and clotted cream. Came with a big pot of tea ahead of the scones (assuming they were baking in the oven) so we had two cups each which was plenty. There are four tables inside and the same number in the garden if the weather suits so really feels very homely. The prices are very reasonable at £4.50 pp for cream tea......good value We’ve read a few far from complementary reviews about the tea room and all we can say is if the comments were true then the new proprietors have listened and made big changes.....and we’ll be back.

We visited the tea room here this afternoon after finding the tea rooms in Tissington very busy and we were very pleased we did. We both had a cream tea; the scones were warm from the oven and the strawberry jam and clotted cream were beautiful. Wonderful hospitality and a hidden gem that we will be visiting again! Highly recommended!

Visited for a light bite having been to Ashbourne. Freiendly couple who run the tea rooms. Good range of food for a small establishment. Well worth a trip on a day like today when the sun is out and you can sit out and enjoy a cuppa with a view down the valley and away from the hustle and bustle of Tissington village.

Friendly, great location, lots of cute animals for little ones ( including my daughter aged 26). Outside area sheltered inside a small walled garden. A real warming farm complete with old dog, farmer in wellies and cow poo. Truly authentic experience.

We love this place and have been many times over the years. The new owners have made their mark but kept the quality of the food and service. I usually have a cream tea. The scones are beautifully light and delicious and the perfect size for an afternoon cream tea. My husband prefers savoury food and loves their homemade soup and says that the cheese scone (also home made) accompaniment is perfect and a lovely change from bread. We love the relaxed atmosphere and delightful surroundings with the added bonus of the delicious treats being superb value for money - it's the perfect place. We will keep returning!

It’s possible this place has changed hands as I didn’t recognise the server and it just felt very different? Regardless one thing is for sure, the scones ain’t what they used to be! Having been a few times before I remember them being comparable with the home made scones of Cornwall and Devon in size, texture and flavour. What was presented to us on our latest visit however was like an under nourished and unloved orphan scone, half normal size and looking very scrawny and forlorn. £4.50 for something akin to a supermarket scone in both size and flavour and also gone was the past owners lashings of clotted cream the quality of its replacement which must also be brought into doubt. Needless to say a very disappointing experience and one which will not be repeated. Great shame.

We have been coming here for some years now for a Mother's Day cream tea treat as it WAS just the best, now though, Not so. Tea is tea but the single scone was Very small, about a quarter of its former home made self and well, I guess the China's all broke as there is no sign of that now either, oh well a sad sad day as another good place looses its charm!

This was the best cream tea I’ve ever had ( and I’ve had a few!) and tea in proper china cups . It’s a little way out of the village but would certainly recommend you visit . A lovely treat after walking in beautiful countryside.

Quite literally our favorite place in the world...why?...because our married life started here. Sarah and Brian (and the girls and all the animals!) Made our special day more perfect than we could ever imagine. We had tipis in the wedding field and all our guest still talk about it today. We come back every year at least once and wish we could for the rest of our married life. It is just idyllic and the tea room is perfect. We love these guys like our extended family! Service is 6*! Our Shepherd hut is where we love to just forget about the real world. Bliss.

Love it here, second time with friends who love it just as much. The owners are really friendly, the cream tea and selection of cakes and just the menu are amazing. Lots of animals for the children to see (and adults), disappointed to find the guinea pigs hiding! Mary the hand reared lamb visited us too - what a character she is.

Temporary move of the Farm Tea Room to the Village Hall because of Tissington Well Dressing display. Same good menu, sandwiches, cakes, scones but not keen on the paper plates/cups but I suppose needs must, cannot wait for the return to the Farm.

My wife and I have always enjoyed our visits to Bassettwood Farm's Tea Room, but today we placed our order without checking the menu first - I later discovered I'd orderd an item that isn't on the menu, but rather than disappoint me, Sarah went ahead and excellently prepared it for me! Has anyone ever received such service? Although I rarely commit such faux pas, I can't imagine them being allowed elsewhere. (It's a shame you won't be adding it to your menu, though, Sarah, I loved it - certainly one of the tastiest I remember having!)

We decided to visit this tea rooms as the one in the centre of Tissington was packed out. We were a bit lazy and decided to drive to it [it says 1/2 mile on the sign, but think it was "as the crow flies"]. We were not disappointed and sat in the garden eating wonderful home made scones and drinking pots of tea. They have some baby goats and lambs that you can feed and a gorgeous week old lamb who had been orphaned and they were hand rearing. She just wanders about getting lots of fuss from the visitors. Well worth the detour!

We bought a Peak District walking guide with tea rooms which directed us to the Coach House in the centre of Tissington Village and to our disappointment it was very busy & there was no room for us. This turned out to be good luck, as we returned to the car to leave we saw a sign for Bassettwood which was far superior. A lovely, friendly, home made atmosphere, the food was beautiful & rustic with the added bonus of a small farm for the children to look at.

Great tea room, very friendly staff and serves an excellent cream tea (scones just out of the oven) and chocolate cake, with lots of tea, very good value for money! An ideal stop off for cyclists, just a short detour of 0.5 miles off sustrans route 547, which links Tissington Trail, Carsington & High Peak Trail. Will definitely make it our stopping off point when cycling in the area. Good news is it is open all year round.

Enjoy a walk from Tissington to Bassettwood Farm then rest your legs and have a sandwich/cream tea/drink in this wonderful setting. Yes it is a working farm, chicken walking around the garden to keep you company and children will love looking at the various farm animals, goats/chickens/pigs. Service is welcoming and friendly no rushing here just sit back and enjoy.

Whilst I cannot fault the quality of the food, the lack of toilet facilities causes me a major problem. Previously when we have visited here we were able to use the toilets belonging to the pub next door. Having mobility problems and on medication , I politely asked if it would be possible to use the staff WC. This was refused and I was told to use the public toilets which were a considerable distance away. It took me a very painful 25 minute walk to go there and back.I am 85 years old, leaning heavily on a walking stick . I feel very disappointed as i have visited this fish shop many times in the past.

Really lovely food, you wouldn't know it from the outside/inside - it's like any other pub but the food was really good. Had the best dessert - rice pudding with apple and nuts - to die for.

We went for Sunday lunch and it was probably the best I've had, the meat melted in your mouth and the veg was brilliant with meaty gravy

Arrived around 10:45 am on 10/11/24 only to be informed that there was no hot food being served until 11:15 due to a take away order. Others in front of us left and we reluctantly ordered two coffees, a flapjack and a Pork Pie instead of the full cooked breakfasts we’d hoped for. We were charged twice for the Pork Pie, which we pointed out and were subsequently refunded for. We sat at a table that had the previous occupants breakfast plate on it (which was never cleared, considering the waiting on staff weren’t serving any food at the time) and waited for our coffee which did not arrive. We fetched it ourselves from the counter, at which point around 11:05, they started taking breakfast orders again. The place seemed poorly managed and why you’d turn away valued customers for a take away order is beyond me.
