We have been here for a drink over the past couple of days as staying in the area. We saw the Sunday lunch board and decided to give it a try. Wow! Food was gorgeous, I had pork and my husband had beef. £12.95 each for choice of beef, pork, chicken or gammon served with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, stuffing, roast parsnips, broccoli, cauliflower, tender stem broccoli and gravy. Served 12pm - 6pm. Definitely worth a visit, we are planning our return already 😀 Friendly staff were a bonus.

Basic pub food but good sized portions at a very reasonable price the pie was shortcrust and all beef with skin on chips. It's quite a small pub inside but has a beer garden and outside seating outside. At the time of visiting they had landlord and marsdons 61 deep (august 2024) on hand pulls. We would visit again.

Staying in the area for the weekend we have had fhe best Sunday lunch we have had in a long while. The lovely staff made us really welcome, the food was delicious and I was even cooked veggie roast potatoes to go with the amazing veggie cottage pie. I dropped in there this evening for a meal - WELL worth it! The Pedigree beer was in top condition, service was friendly, welcoming, NOTHING was too much trouble. The food was enough to put to shame many high class restaurants; generous portions of Chilli Con Carne, Rice, Garlic Bread, Side Salad - followed by Waffles with Chocolate and Cherry Sauce and Ice Cream. YUM!! I will DEFINITELY be going back to the Church Inn on a regular basis!

We had a lovely meal here a couple of days ago! The very friendly staff managed to fit our large group in (8 adults plus a high chair) with no bother. The menu has great variety and all of the food was really delicious and plentiful! We’re proper foodies and so weren’t sure what to expect, but everything we ordered (pies, chilli, fish and chips, hunters chicken and puddings) was really top notch.

What a place for a sunny afternoon in the beer garden. Right next to the train track so you can see the steam train go past. Ale’s are nice, good pint. Didn’t have the Sunday roast but had a meat cob with roasties and gravy. My word what a sandwich!! Meat was lovely and the gravy you could have drank it as it was it was that good. Roasties to die for!! Will definitely be coming back for more.

Best pub in Derbyshire I love this little pub it is my go to place when I’m feeling low I was raised in this pub as a child that sounds bad no I actually lived there my mum was the landlady back in the 80s I took my daughter in there to show her around the other night and things all look very similar I think little quaint pubs like this need to stay just like that as they are. Brought back loads of memories was talking to the landlord about my childhood and he said some of the locals are probably still in here ha ha so if you’re looking for a good friendly atmosphere and nice pint in the Derbyshire Dales then look no further than the church in in Darley Dale it feels like home from the minute you walking no matter who you are.

Good points - checkin easy, very professional and friendly staff, room was clean, spacious, bed was comfortable, nice large bathroom with toiletries in the bathroom. Delicious vanilla choux pastries left in room Not so good - very noisy from what appeared to be plumbing from the next room , very hot on the night and difficult to get windows open Restaurant- exceptional service, nice ambience. We had the seasonal 3 courses which were delicious.

On entering the historic building, sympathetically brought up to date, we were met with a warm welcome and shown to a table. The autumn menu seemed to cater for all tastes, with a particularly interesting selection of starters, some traditional, some more " in vogue". The mains included options for those with dietary needs, along with fairly traditional dishes given an exciting interpretation. Personally, I'd not normally pick chicken on a menu as it's too everyday, but I opted for the chicken kyiv with the chef's magic touch and was suitably impressed. Desserts were equally imaginative and I felt compelled to try one, despite the generous portions already consumed. The wine list again catered for all tastes, with a good selection of " by the glass" possibilities. The staff were both friendly and efficient and the overall experience a delight.
