The best restaurants in Normanton Derby East Midlands

I reviewed this place back in November 2020 as the food back then truly was amazing. It just goes to show how things can change. Maybe there is a different chef these days or the business has changed hands. Our latest curry takeaways were watery and over-salted. The rice and naan were ok. The best bit was the free piece of wire I got in my curry. Looks like it came off a metal scourer. At least they've been scrubbing their saucepans I suppose. As my junior school teacher used to write in my school report........"has lots of potential but must try harder."

An excellent chip shop that has been there for years. Does all the usual chippy dinner options with jacket potatoes, sausages, fish, savaloys etc all with the usual range of curry, gravy, mushy peas etc. Also does a selection of kebabs on fresh naan or pitta, freshly cooked pizzas and garlic bread and a choice of burgers! Everything you could want for a decent dinner.

The food was fresh and tasty. Delivery good. The only thing I was a bit annoyed at, is I paid extra for x2 drumstick chicken and small wings we're sent (not great for the extra cost) other than that, as that's the staff not the taste of the food.

I had food from royals more than serval times food is very delicious and tasty customer service is on point.

Nice little pub, very friendly staff and reasonably priced. It has an old fashioned feel about it inside but is very cosy.

Bland food the lady couldn't explain the difference between each dish, egg fried rice was just fried rice, no Chinese spices in anything (chicken curry with mushrooms, chicken foo yong, egg fried rice, chips) asked them to make it spicy, nothing, asked how long it will take lady said 5 minutes, what ??? tasted more like a English meal, definitely wasted our money

Bad Experience I ordered Pizza Through Uber Eats.. Got Medium Pizza for 9.99£ and Ordered 1 Pepsi max Bottle 1.75 or 2 litre for 2.50£.. but got a Small Can of Pepsi … which made me Very angry…

Ordered food from this restaurant via Deliveroo. The food from this restaurant arrived very spicy. Also, they had delayed the order twice, missing their initial estimate by about 20 minutes. Furthermore, the restaurant had called me offering "free food" if I deleted this review or bumped it to a 5*. They said the restaurant is known for spicy food, and thus, my review is a bit unfair. However, I think the review is my opinion of the restaurant. Some may very well like spicy food. However, they are trying to bribe people into leaving negative reviews, so I cannot give them a 5* review in good conscience.

Lovely KFC, no issues with the food. Had zinger rice box, fries and a drink. Tasted banging, wanted to put a review because I saw the existing reviews before I came and was worried but didn’t have an issue myself. I used drive through, so didn’t see in side. Fast service. Polite staff. I’m not from the area so used it conveniently whilst working in the area. Again no issues, but only been once.

This is the worst kebab I've ever had. Small pieces of meat. Which tasted like pressed together bits of over spiced cheap meat and very oily. It was meant to be a mixed kebab. All it had was a few pieces of chicken along with the so called donner meat. They also forgot the salad and the sauce. This is one place I would never use again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

So I placed an order after recieving targeted advertising for Ramadan treats from Cake Box. I placed an order online for 2 box of brownies and 1 box of Khoya Barfi for collection. A short time after I was called by the store who said they could not honour the order due to late delivery. So I suggested that I could collect tomorrow or Friday if it was more convenient but they stated that this was not possible. So I asked if they could transfer my order to one of the other 2 cake box stores in Derby and again they declined stating that this was not possible and a new order would have to be placed directly with that store. So I asked for a refund and was told I would have to wait 5 - 7 working days. This is very poor from a Franchise when they advertise and take payment for an order but can't honor it. If it is not available at a specific store then this should be flagged online as many other online stores do this quiet successfully. If they cannot honor an order due to unforseen circumstances then they should be able to transfer the order to another store especially when it is in the same city as again many online stores also offer this option. Very poor first experience

Delivery took over two hours and food was freezing. Paid for £40 worth of food. Failed to answer the phone for updates. Restaurant hung up on me while speaking once they answered the phone, chicken wings badly cooked and still pink. Do not get food here
