Seagull in Derby

An excellent chip shop that has been there for years. Does all the usual chippy dinner options with jacket potatoes, sausages, fish, savaloys etc all with the usual range of curry, gravy, mushy peas etc. Also does a selection of kebabs on fresh naan or pitta, freshly cooked pizzas and garlic bread and a choice of burgers! Everything you could want for a decent dinner.

Don’t eat from there it’s a dirty place I went there once with my boyfriend and another customer called the shop saying the food was moldy and that it stank while we were ordering too

Seagulls food are amazing there chips are nice and soft. There cheeseburgers are to die for and there kebabs 💯 I definitely think u should come to this place 10/10 😁

Why on earth would you give reheated chips to paying customers??????? The worst chips I have ever tried to eat 😫

USED to be the spot back in the day! Don’t even bother going there now. Reheated chips from the day before, stale and horrible! How this place hasn’t been closed down already is beyond me. Send hygiene inspector here!!

Nice kebabs on the right day and time, prices above average,it’s worth a try

This place is an absolute disgrace, if you plan to go at night time they give you hard chips that were made in the morning, the kebab meat is awful and the prices are too high for the amount of portion size they give you and lastly the shop needs refurbishment as it is very old.

This place is filthy. How any owner can think of customer satisfaction in the serving area with grease and dirt obvious and defective neon signs covered in years old cobwebs. The overhead menu tv screens are a disgrace with back lighting either patchy or non existant with one actually so damaged the pricing is unreadable it’s that old and neglected. Based on this obvious lack of any hygiene front of house good God who knows what the kitchen must be like but I can hazard a good guess. I did take my life in my hands and buy the fish I ordered and when ate some, it didn’t taste right. Draw your own conclusions. This place is simply knackered out with no investment. Staff were polite enough but isn’t that a given, particularly when it’s your own business?

When the chips are fresh they're delicious but if you're unlucky enough to be one of the first customers then it's yesterdays chips.

Food arrived back my son only lives round the corner,chips luke warm,peas luke warm and kebab meat awful.dont think ill bother again.

Large Shish and Tikka mix kebab on a naan. Everything cooked in front of your eyes including the wonderful naan starting from a ball of dough. Juicy chicken that tastes of chicken and lamb that just melts in your mouth. I go easy on the salad and sauces but you do it your favourite way. Great food. My payday treat. Love it.

Might as well deep fry cardboard and cook a frozen fish at home it’d be better than this place… Gordon Ramsey would be disappointed

Got some food from this place and when I got home and opened my food and found the burger buns to be mouldy which is disgusting and shocking I’m glad I checked them before eating or I would have made my self ill or even worse As you can see from the pictures the mould is on the inside of the buns spreading to the outside the takeaway must have seen the mould when they applied the butter on the buns and they still choose to give me the mouldy buns 🤢

Well for the chips beans and large battered sausage I was charged £6.70. That's near enough £6.70 I have chucked in the bin. This is the second time I've been here and I will never return again it would have been a couple of months since my last visit. The chips are obviously put into the oil when the oil is not even hot enough so they are just soggy with oil and warm and if you find a cooked chip you're bloody lucky the beans are ok and the sausage tasted absolutely disgusting the batter was soft and full of oil and uncooked batter obviously due to Not having the oil at the right temperature. I know exactly what they're doing wrong because I cook my own chips and get them perfect so there's no excuses for this place. I visit chip shops around the country and this has got to be one of the worst. Avoid!!!

40 years I've been going there and it never changes, great food, great staff and the owner is always very welcoming

Spent £14 worth of food and the fish and chips was fried in stale oil. The pie tastes like it went cold and was reheated from several days ago. Nasty greasy food. Staff look tired worn out. This shop needs to shut down.

this chippy has been here and run by the same family for over 30 years. they serve tasty good quality food. they do a great chicken tikka kebab with freshly grilled chicken on freshly made nan from a tandoor oven! for a reasonable price, best in derby.

Small kebab on pitta. They microwaved the pita first and served me with old shrapnels of yesterdays Donner. The pitta was hard as rock. Clearly no experience in kebabs. Trying to copy the standard middle eastern guys sorry but stick to frying chips if you can get that right.

Decent food bar the chips. Always and forever awful potatoes used for the chips.

It's noticeable that as the price increases the portion size has decreased over a period of time. Lunchtime chips are usually refried from the evening before which doesn't produce a an attractive meal or side dish. Complaining doesn't make any difference as the manager only goes on about increasing potatoe prices which he has to pass on to his customers but why are the portions sizes decreasing when the consumer is footing the bill for increased operating costs? Iceland/Aldi/Farmfoods will give the most bang for your buck, fries, chips, fish portions, can be purchased and the quality and quantity is assured. It's a shame that the apparent greed of the owner could be his downfall as the consumer fights for survival and is being forced to look for cheaper or greater portion sizes for their money!

They are normally open late, which is good. The chicken tikka could definitely use more spicing and heat, felt a bit bland. Their chosen doner meat is good, they do chips well, and the portions are good.

I see all the great reviews so it must be just be my luck. Iv been here about 20 times in the two years iv lived in the area. And 10 times at least my food has been under cooked. Staff are great, very friendly and welcoming. Prices are not the cheapest. My friend had a battered burger, in a cob with onions on it. He was charged for both the cob and the onions separately. 80p for the cob, 50p for a few onions. But like I said, undercooked. I had a burger there once that was so raw it was pure mush inside. I could of been used as literal burger meat. Signs that it's been cooked way too fast. Iv had limp mushy savaloys that fell apart. Pinky sausages. Chicken and kebab meat is fine, also not great tho. Very basic. Kebab all comes from the same place so they are choosing to cut corners there. But each to their own. Just stay away from the other meats. A shame. It was amazing before the new management. This guy is clearly cutting corners.
