Nags Head in Derby

Chicken didn't taste of chicken. Complaint handled effectively. Meal was replaced. However the xl mixed grill was lovely.

Always a great time to be had here. Good food and a great selection of beers, wines and also non-alcoholic alternative for the smaller family members. Dog friendly as well, there’s treats for the furry ones and even their own menu. Definitely worth a visit if you’re out in the area

Great pub with great beer and staff member was really pleasant and engaging. Can’t believe I’ve not been here before. Annoying thing was I got a parking ticket 2 weeks later because I missed the signage. Locals may know that but I missed seeing them. It is not something I ordinarily do when going to a pub, look for parking restrictions but do understand why they have to go down the road of having them. Maybe something the staff mention to unfamiliar vistitors.

Food was nice apart from getting my order wrong a few times coke was completely flat even when changed it it still tasted like water service and check backs were good but had to find my own sauces of different tables as hadn't been changed and was all empty really tidy clean place overall was a good place just with a few small problems 😁

Busy pub,but the food is really good. We received a courtesy call letting us know. We were given a table and the food was timely even though it was busy on a Saturday evening. Staff are pleasant, bar staff equally offer good customer service. Shaz

Excellent, I had the sizzling gammon and sizzling it was, very nice and value for the cost, not to mention the real ales 👌 Spot on.

Visited the Nags Head this evening and was aghast at the price. Probably the biggest mark-up ever - water with a dash of lime cordial £2.30. Not even ice and a slice.

First visit, walked in busy buzzing atmostphere. We were staying in a nearby hotel , just wanted evening meal, Fantastic friendly staff , friendly people around us. Nice glass of wine and double cheeseburger and chips . As burgers go this was big, well cooked, tasty and well presented, chips lovely and nice crunchy onion rings, Couldnt fault our visit, yum

Avoid the pies, lots of crust, lots of gravy, virtually no meat.

I had a wonderful time here at the Nags Head. Me and my partner went for the first time and the quality of the food and also price was amazing and really affordable! I had the Gammon which was excellent and wasn’t too salty unlike some places. My partner had the Hunters Chicken which was also done to a high quality. It only cost £13.49 for both the meals as when we came it was on a deal which you can’t complain about. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice pub meal!

The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The food was simply outstanding! Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. We were impressed with the variety and quality of the options. The portions were generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The team made us feel so special, and they were so accommodating with our requests. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything just right, but The Nags Head nailed it. We left, already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a top-notch dining experience with great food and even better service, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

I have to say how good the 3 young persons now serving at the bar on Sunday evenings have been this past few weeks. Welcoming, friendly and attentive. They are a credit to the trade. Well done from our regular Sunday evening group. And they know how to pull a pint. 🍻

Went for food for my daughter's birthday, very delicious and quickly served after ordering. Very polite and friendly staff

I have always enjoyed their pub food; it's perfect for unwinding with a beer after a long day. Their consistency in delivering great meals is what turned me into a regular. The cozy setup and thoughtfully arranged seating, which accommodates families away from the lively bar area, make it an inviting spot. However, all of this is overshadowed by their poor service, which is the last thing you want after a tiring day. I understand it's a pub, but service standards still matter. Tables are often left dirty from previous customers, and the waiting time for food—now exceeding an hour—is unacceptable, especially since payment is made upfront. This delay is particularly frustrating when you're hungry and have kids with you. On one occasion, my kids even fell asleep while we waited for our food. When we decided to take the meals home, the manager, Steve, informed us that they no longer provide takeaway boxes—a policy I found absurd. Thankfully, another staff member helped us out and provided boxes. Given this experience, I would absolutely consider spending my money elsewhere for better service.

It used to be hit an miss with food, but last few times food has been great and really good value for money with the kids.

Absolutely fantastic tapestry, great beer, and a fantastic selection of snacks. Just be careful of the Wizard. He lives underneath the decking. You can see his wandering eyes follow you to the door, very unnerving.

The team were so attentative as we came with a wheel chair user. Putting out tables together and making room. Then we had food which was lovely and beautiful. One of our party could not finish their dinner so the team had put it in a take away box to take home. I am utterly and completely over the moon it's nice to see this well done to the team!

We stopped off for a meal from the light lunch venue. Excellent value and good food.

Lewis top bar man, was struggling to decide what to have, wanted something refreshing so he.mad a fab gin and tonic!

I had to take my misses to the hospital so i thought we might as well get lunch while we was there and this place was about 5 mins away from the hospital so that was good! The food was amazing the service was great so great the next time we were at the hospital we went back and will be good again soon!

My previous visit was excellent. This time, however, I was actively ignored by the bar staff, and eventually left to go to the far superior Mason’s Arms. The pub was very crowded, so I expected to wait for service. After a while the crowd at the bar had disappeared, and the barmaid asked who was next. “Me” as I was the only person at the bar who wasn’t drinking there. Someone walked up, and the barmaid had a chat with him then served him. The Mason’s Arms is a small, quiet, friendly pub with a range of real ales and superb food that’s several levels above the Weatherspoons type fare offered here - a view shared by all 6 of us.

Staff friendly and helpful, tables well spaced and regular cleaning in operation. Ordered food and drinks from the app and delivered to table promptly

Booked a table for 6pm. Got there with no sign of a reserved table and half the area was taken up by some photo shoot. Told server that I was there only to be told half hour later that I was there too late so no reserved table. May go back but not sure

When you want to go for a simple pub meal at affordable prices and at a decent standard with an atmosphere then this is the place to go , the pie and chips was outstanding 👌 with proper mash potatoes (quite rare) I will definitely return and recommend 😋

Visited this evening with the mother, ordered a rare ribeye steak with all the trimmings and a battered fish. There was hairs in my mothers fish dish and my steak was cooked medium if not medium well done (couldn't even finish it) my recommendations from previous visits is order anything but the steak as the cooks clearly aren't capable of cooking them right. Other than that the sides were nice and the garlic bread was good, left disappointed

Came here yesterday with my family and ended up really I’ll the chicken wings were undercooked and were pink inside were really not happy for the price you pay and then end up ill. I have pictures and videos of how pink the chicken was.

Always a friendly welcome when I come here. Food is great value for money. Staff are always welcoming and attentive. Great sized pub with a great garden when the suns out. There’s normally some good deals to be had too!

Been here a few times, food is always good value for money and there’s always more than enough to eat. The drinks are varied and plentiful. The staff are always friendly, and love to see you time and again. Well worth popping in if you’re nearby

My boyfriend and I went for a meal here on a Saturday night after we'd checked into our hotel, just down the road. We both really enjoyed our food. He had a flatbread thing, and I, the gammon. The only issue was parking. Good food for a good price.

Had a nice meal. There was 6 of us all enjoyed the food.

Everything I've tried so far has not disappointed me at all, beer is always on point, great place for those who need somewhere to escape the daily routine and relax with nothing in mind

Came into the nags head for a quick drink after looking through the new menu decided to try the new triple threat steak food came out quickly by a woman called Sally she was polite and very helpful with my selection of sauces to go with my food overall it was a very nice and pleasant experience and I look forward to going in again thanks to all the staff.

First time at the Nags Head, early lunchtime and not too busy. Ordered fish and chips with 2-4-1 deal, good meal for the price and well cooked and presented. Batter on the fish nice and crispy. Staff friendly.

What a great pub I was 3 pence off the price of a pint and the great lad behind the bar sorted me out. Just moved into the area it is hands down the best pub in the area, they can't do enough for you. Well done keep it up. Al x

Popped in as local for the BOGOF Burger offer. Seated easily and ordered with ease. Food arrived promptly and piping hot. All condiments on the table or offered when Sophie our server brought the food. Wanted a 2nd drink with our food and Sophie happily got there for us and we didn’t even need to leave the table to pay she sorted it all. Refreshing to see great service with ease from a polite and helpful young hostess.

Had another wonderful meal today at lunch time. Gammon with egg, excellent as always. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for a meal out.

I recently visited the Nags Head and I had an excellent experience. The food was delicious and there was a great selection of drinks to choose from. I have to give a huge thanks to Sophie, who did an amazing job! She was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Her friendly and professional service really enhanced our experience. Thank you, Sophie, for making our visit so enjoyable! I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend the Nags Head to anyone.

Had a booking showed up early very accommodating, had a sunday dinner was very nice, great selection of drinks

Ordered slow roast beef rib Sunday lunch and received BBQ slow roast beef with chips. Kindly returned but got back the same beef rib with an attempt to wash off the bbq sauce unsuccessfully as there was still bbq on it. Then told a load waffle about it being rhe last rib slow roasts. Really really poor

Only used to meet friends for coffee . Useful to pop into Tesco opposite. Must remember to put your car reg into the machine inside.

Bought a few drinks, bar girl serving was on the phone talking to someone on loud speaker, served a Guinness 00 she crushed the can in the machine then started to splatter the remains of the Guinness in the glass & serve a disgusting mess in the pint glass was all head, no apology just kept taking on phone, won't drink there again & £5 for that mess

The food is really nice and the staff are friendly. The only negative thing is that the ladies toilets were not clean at all .

Four of us went today my lad had extra large mixed grill and I had the same ,my wife had the scampi and my lad’s partner had chicken strips absolutely brilliant food all was red hot when brought out behind the bar was very friendly and I told them when leaving it was the best mixed grill I had ever had ,will be going back shortly

Whilst waiting at the bar to be served it was evident that staff didn’t know who to serve next so it’s the hands in the air “who’s next please? This often results in the quickest loudest voice being the next to be served. I then watched another customer who arrived at the bar after me being served before me just because they were standing next to the till and the last person to be served. Then to be charged London prices for beer! Not for me!

Cheap pub grub, questionable quality. Good service, small car park. 2 for 1 specials served regularly.

Had items from the new menu. Good value and well cooked and presented. Friendly helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Food cooked by Jordan today. Jess on the bar, always a smile. Thank you to all though as all are very obliging.

ordered 2 meals seconds apart on same table after 45 mins only 1 meal came out the other would be 10 to 45 mins because a big party ad ordered on the app wast offered anything not even a sorry and refund will take 7 days but they took money straight away...... work all over UK and never ad this b4 with multiple orders for same table will not be going back to nags head and if I was u if its busy don't go as its very apparent the staff can't cope if it's busy
