Tables were sticky,so i asked staff to wipe it down but they were still sticky even after they had!
ordered the prawn salad, paid for it then was told 5 minutes later they had no prawns
i was really disapointed and wondered why it was so hard to have enough prawns in the kitchen. so i asked for just the salad that was a very sad dish hardly any salad for ÂŁ13.95 with bits of the end of an onion maybe they had run out of onions as well?
i had ( instead of the missing hard to find prawns ) olives and bread, the olives was just cheap nasty black olives and not that many and a larger small dish of way too much cheap olive oil, bread was ok though
Staff looked bored & unfriendly and the place was empty, they turned another two customers away saying they did not have what they ordered either, the owner/chef/cook/manager or what ever he is looked like he really did not wont to be at work running his buiness on a sunday at 2pm maybe he was just having a bad day but it put me in a mood spoilt my visit i would not reccomend to my friends and family it was a waste of our time and money
My partner had the monkfish and chips which he has renamed gonkfish as it wasnt anything special and the chips were frozen for 15.95 it was hardly value for our money.
We decided to visit the sea shack as the reviews seemed pretty good however our experience was nothing like what was stated
Fairly average fish and chip shop - Iâve had worse but Iâve definitely had better. The chips werenât very well cooked quite long enough being a bit soggy with no crispness, and the cod had quite a thick batter that was a bit stodgy on the inside; both were quite greasy. The fish itself tasted ok, but completely disintegrated as soon as a knife and fork touched it.
The fish was already cooked when I came into the shop but I was assured it was recently cooked (they would say that wouldnât they?) Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost ÂŁ10.50. The portion sizes were generous.
The food was placed in a plastic bag rather than a paper one which is never a good sign, and would have made it go even soggier if I didnât remove it as soon as I got to the car.
Ok if youâre local and donât want too drive far but I certainly wouldnât go out of my way to get food from here when there are several better options such as Skippers not far away.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at The Moat House Coffee Shop. They advertise themselves as child-friendly, but my toddler and I were made to feel anything but welcome. Despite the inevitable mess that comes with young children, which I was actively cleaning up, staff approached me and asked us to leave because my child was âtoo messy.â This was not only embarrassing but also contradicted their supposed family-friendly ethos. If youâre a parent looking for a welcoming space, Iâd recommend going elsewhere. A truly child-friendly establishment should show patience and understanding, not intolerance.
Now called the Brierley Village and under new management, our first take away meal from here and we didn't know what to expect especially as the reviews looked a little "suspect". We ordered three completely different meals which went down well with mom, dad and daughter. The chips were a bit anaemic but we had no complaints with anything else. In fact it was so good that it could be our new regular. They have done a great job of the refurbishment and I can't wait to eat in.
And a few months later we did. Parking can be a bit of a problem but it's worth the effort. They don't sell alcohol so take you will need to take your own. The dining room was nice and warm, clean and very well presented. The food is as good as the reviews and the service was helpful and friendly.
The only downside for me was the menu is on a take away leaflet which was a bit small for me to read. I didn't really need it although they do have some interesting dishes that you could miss but I understand a new menu is on the way.
An excellent menu with a good variety of choices. Very unintrusive but appropriate service with friendly advice when requested. My choice of toasted Goat's cheese and salad was very tasty with a lovely dressing. The hot drinks choice was also very good. the prices were very reasonable too.
I have used this chip shop on many occasions and generally found the food to be above average, but tonight I was very disappointed in the quality of my meal. I ordered for collection using their web site for 20.05, the shop closes at 20.15, but that should not mean that the food quality is compromised.
I ordered cod for myself, but the fish was not freshly cooked, it had the look and consistency of being sitting in the heated display unit for a long time.
The batter on the fish was dried and hard and the fish was tasteless and rubbery. The chips and my wife's pie were passable, but not of the usual quality.
If there is not enough time to cook an item of food to an acceptable standard then it should be taken off the menu and substandard food not passed on to the customer.
ÂŁ3.95 for the smallest teacake I've ever seen. The coffee was ok but overall the snack was poor value for money, We'll be trying out the alternatives before considering a revisit.

Coffee is good, but after waiting 10 minutes to overpay for coffee I'm greeted with " You ok?" Twice
How is this acceptable? I'm have to feel uncomfortable for ordering coffee.
There's a million ways to greet and take an order but that's not one.
Thanks
There is nothing to love about this restaurant. The food is amazing, the staff and owner are the best. I wouldnât eat Indian food anywhere else. We travel an hour to Oakham because the cuisine and atmosphere is so good.
Lovely little coffee shop with a good outside space perfect for brunch in the sun! Great coffee and friendly service. Tuesdays @soleclinic run from there!
