An excellent menu with a good variety of choices. Very unintrusive but appropriate service with friendly advice when requested. My choice of toasted Goat's cheese and salad was very tasty with a lovely dressing. The hot drinks choice was also very good. the prices were very reasonable too.

Lovely place with a view. Food was lovely; the staff happily met my request to have poached eggs adding to my meal from the menu. Definitely the best Mocha I have tasted!

Looked on trip advisor and it was rated no 1 of tea and coffee cafe in Whitehaven if this is no 1 I’d hate to see the rest we had a tea ( so weak it was tasteless) and a coffee ( Luke warm) the cakes a Victoria sponge was dry and the pear and almond cake was like rubber neither should have been sold, sorry but we won’t be back

Lovely location but husband had Earl grey tea and we were given cardboard cups because we were sat outside. We asked for a ‘proper cup’ but were told this wasn’t possible in case it got broken! We had eaten 2 cinnamon buns on pottery plates, tea served in a pot tea pot and milk in a pot ???? Totally illogical and at £15 would have expected better.

Stopped here during our museum visit for a light lunch. The broccoli soup was outstanding and was served with hunks of very nice bread. The coffee was great too and as for the cinnamon buns 😋 … just make sure you don’t miss them!

We visited this wonderful cafe twice in one day. First time was for coffee and cake before we went round The Beacon Museum. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were recommended the Iced Cinnamon Buns by one of the staff. They were right. The best cinnamon bun I've ever had. I had the small one hubby, naturally chose the large one. The after 2.5 hours looking round The Museum we were ready for a light lunch. Hubby chose the soup of the day, which was delicious. I had the special, which was goat's cheese, walnuts oh a delicious salad really. Really very tasty with a pot of tea. Again excellent friendly service. It was much busier now but we still got a seat OK. Highly recommended.

Disappointing experience. Table not cleared when we sat down and no attempt to do so by staff. Cafe only half full, so poor service can’t be excused by being too busy. Ordered food and asked if could keep tab open or have a bill at the end of the meal, as wasn’t sure if we’d want to add to our order and have room for the delicious-looking cakes. Was told this was not possible and we needed to pay immediately. Pointed out that the cafe had just lost over £12 in potential revenue as cakes were £6 each, but waitress simply re-iterated it was their policy. Ordered bun filled with halloumi and colleague ordered soup. Both came with bread which certainly wasn’t fresh, in fact quite stale. As a local, we like to support local businesses but not those which offer poor service.

We’ve been to Howling Wolf a few times now and food has always been excellent. We’ve been for brunch - I’ve had the cinnamon buns which are absolutely amazing, and my fiancé has had proper brunch meals and also enjoyed. We recently tried their fine dining evening on a Friday/Saturday and the food was wonderful. Generous portions, delicious, and a really nice intimate, quiet atmosphere. Would definitely go back as the menu is small but changes monthly to keep some variety!

We were there for the opening night of their fine dining evenings. It was a wonderful night with beautiful food and lovely staff. They were so accommodating about making my meals gluten free too. The best place for miles. We're very lucky to have this gem on our doorstep.

3rd visit to Howling Wolf, such a lovely coffee shop with fantastic coffee and delicious cakes. The cinnamon buns are divine. We’ve sat outside in the summer sun recently overlooking the marina. Love the decor and plenty seating, great staff and definitely worth a trip.

Wonderful staff, nice atmosphere, good view, and delicious cinnamon and chocolate buns. I personally don't drink tea or coffee so I can't judge those but my daughter said her cappucino wass delicious.

Had the pleasure of voting this new cafe in Whitehaven. Friendly staff, tasty coffee and delicious cinnamon buns. If you are a cyclist starting the CTC, or finishing, this cafe must be on your radar. From the CTC start you can see the Beacon and this is where the cafe is situated - plenty of rooms for bikes - seats inside and out.

I have now visited this cafe at The Beacon Muséum twice since it opened recently. The ambience , service and of course the coffee and delicious cakes are amazing. The chocolate and orange gluten and dairy free cake is to die for as are the various flavoured rolls. Good luck to the young couple behind this enterprise which is just what Whitehaven needed.

We were told about the bakery here by someone my husband was working for so called in today for a takeaway coffee and some cinnamon buns. Oh my god the buns were amazing! Coffee could have been a little stronger but we’re not complaining, but will definitely be back for more buns.

A wonderful addition to the town. Spectacular views of the harbour. Their coffee is just amazing and I have only tasted the desserts, which were really worth the calories. I am looking forward on tasting the lunch menu. A very cosy environment to enjoy 😉

Lovely views of the harbour, fitting music and appealing decor (dark wood chairs, midnight blue walls). Had a bacon sandwich- bacon done perfectly and the bread just the right amount of spring and saltiness. Give it a go! Oh and good choice of drinks too.

Edit: been a few times and everything just keeps getting better! First time visiting the venue which is very smart and well spaced, there won't be any accidental elbow touching here. We went for the afternoon tea, which was massive and to be fair, very tasty. The scotch egg and sausage roll were great and the chicken and quiche also very good. After getting beyond those I was struggling! With three puds it was clear I would never be able to finish it all. I ate the scone which was pretty good. Not the best, but decent. The brownie and lemon posset had to come home with me in a box! Overall it was very enjoyable, although I'm not sure we can really call it an afternoon tea! In my opinion, they could easily have removed the chicken and posset and added in a small finger sandwich or two. The result would still be a very non-traditional afternoon tea, but it might have been close enough to call it one. There really should at least be a nod to cucumber somewhere in there Edit: paid another visit and went for regular menu items. The meal was lovely, a bit different and still generously sized. At lunchtime, with three of us eating, none of us actually managed to polish of our meal! The star of the show was the Thai curry, probably about as good as it gets outside an actual Thai restaurant
