The best restaurants in England

What an amazing place, had afternoon tea and during my reservation I made my allergies known. Arriving we were escorted down to the cellar and our coats were kindly put away. Shown to our table they explained what to expect and ensuring we were comfortable. The chefs clearly know their food and catered to my needs. The regular afternoon tea was presented well and was also very delicious. The atmosphere was really nice, nice acoustics and lounge music. Really recommend and looking for an excuse to go again.

Ordered food direct via Web site for delivery. Working our way through the menu. The food is tasty and good value. If you like Chinese this is the best in Ripley.

This is the place for authentic homemade Indian Cuisine! Fantastic customer service, very friendly and welcoming. Having eaten at many Indian Restaurants across Town, I’d say this is one of the best I’ve tried. The Pakoras well perfectly cooked along with the must have Tandoori Chicken. Very reasonably priced for an superb meal!

Very interesting international culinary offers, relatively cheap

Plenty of space to move around - and sit down whilst exploring all the views. Cake was not very high quality or fresh in the cafe and they are using endless amounts of disposable cups instead of reusing. An environmental disaster zone!

Very disappointed and the Magpie seems to go on its past reputation of being a good fish and chip restaurant. Ordered a regular haddock and chips which had to be sent back , the haddock was very watery and the most probable reason was that the fish was frozen and the batter very thin and soggy. They did change the meal and we were served another haddock and chips and although better was definitely not up to a standard of award winning restaurant. My suggestion would be to try somewhere else when in Whitby.

Very warm welcome, very good meal

We went as 8 people, none of us liked it, the rice was tasteless, the ribs were a bit oily and dry, we couldn't eat the iskender at all, the meat tasted strange, the tea was bitter, frankly we were not satisfied at all.

We went without a reservation and there was no problem. They offered us a high table to share with another group. Before taking your order, when you sit down, they give you complimentary popcorn. The staff was always very friendly. For dinner we ordered the flat iron stake (£14) and it was very delicious. Perhaps I would highlight that the meat tasted somewhat like butter (I guess they fry it with it), it's a shame that good meat is cooked with butter instead of oil (but I guess that depends on taste). The side we liked the most was the truffle mac and cheese. At the end of the meal they give you some tokens that, when you leave the restaurant, you can exchange for an ice cream. Be careful when paying, they offer on the ticket itself a total to which 12% had been added, so if you want to tip less or differently than that you must notify them in advance!
