Went in, big light, hate pubs with big lights but it was Nov and out of season, very quiet. Got chatting to two locals who recommended the food. We went back the next evening. I had sea bass on coconut rice with a simple salsa. it was excellent. For pub food and prices, I was impressed.

Great pub, staff are extremely friendly & food is fab, especially the Sunday roast.

Found this pub through the website. Well worth the visit. We, a party of four, came away having enjoyed our meals. Curries and Shepherd Pies! All yummy.

Do not let the exterior or location put you off or cause you doubt. Booked a table for 4 roast dinners on a Sunday during the August bank holiday weekend. Booked via Facebook messenger, which was answered really quickly. Staff are lovely, friendly, and welcoming. Modern decor inside, though we didn't venture into the garden, I would assume it would be equally modern and comfortable. Food was served quickly and disappeared just as quickly......it was delicious. Nice suprise to have macaroni cheese and cream leeks as a side along with swede mash, brocoli, and carrots to complete our Roast Beef/Slow cooked Gammon. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the area or even the Island. The evening menu looked very nice and different from the usual pub menu....if we only had a few more days we would of been back to sample more. Best of all, it was dog friendly !!!!

First meal we've ever had at the Vic Tavern and it was stonking! My burger with IOW blue cheese was delicious and the fries were perfect. My hubby's Sunday Roast was immense and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff, will definitely be back.

Despite an initial hiccup due to a closed road, I managed to arrive on time, thanks to the trusty Floating Bridge. The atmosphere at the Victoria Tavern was second to none. The 8-10pm slot worked perfectly as diners stayed to enjoy the live music, creating an incredible vibe alongside the lively bar crowd. The energy was palpable from the start, and we even shared a chilled, mellow moment in the middle of the set. The staff and patrons were warm and welcoming, and I appreciated all the kind words and support. The Victoria Tavern proved to be a memorable venue, and I'm looking forward to playing there again later this year! Highly recommend the Victoria Tavern for a fantastic night out with great food, drink, and live music. Don't miss it!

Really nice sunday roast, perfectly cooked and generous portions with a large range of veg, yorkshie and stuffing, the gravy was tasty and roast potatoes were just right.

LGBT + Review Had a lovely night here . Modern selection of ales , including good choice of IPAs and Larger , not just fosters but high quality larger on offer as well! Impressive for the isle of wight , did not expect such a selection in a quiet isle of wight town . Food stops at 5pm but I'm not sure if that's normal because nearly every pub where I live is a chain , so I think the focus is on the music and alcohol in this pub. It seems they often have local bands and the band we watched were alot of fun . Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff . I left my coat and the pub helped me get it back .Very happy , a strong five stars ❤️

Food is great staff are lovely only problem is the parking around that area no where to park but everything else is amazing if you`re on foot I would suggest going in there for some great food or even a pint

Nice smallish pub. Food not. Served until 5 as we found out unfortunately. Great bartenders and patrons. Nice beer selection. If you're waiting for for the ferry, walk just a bit further to come here

Very friendly and family atmosphere. Ordered goat burger - proper bun, no cheap brioche. A lot of meat- unfortunately quite hard and dry inside in general - no sauce. Fried halloumi - very tasty. Salad and onion included. It missed a sauce and meat should be softer. Meat had Lebanese spices - very unusual but marvellous. When I was trying to push it to reduce the height of it - wasn’t able to do much as meat was hard. Tasty fries. My friends Steak - good, but partially more well done than rare. blue cheese sauce and fries. Home made fresh onion rings - best that I have ever tried. I will be back for more.

I've just moved from the mainland to East Cowes and this is my new local. I popped in for lunch today and was very impressed. I had one of the specials, chicken curry and it was delicious. Both me and my pup were made to feel very welcome by both the bar staff and regulars. We will definitely be visiting again very soon.

Friendly service, easy and relaxed setting and a good value breakfast. I had the full English breakfast. The sausage was very good.

Myself and my friends had a lovely meal at the Victoria tavern last night. I live fairly local to the place so eat here often and I'm never disappointed. Staff and landlord are always welcoming and friendly. Relaxing atmosphere and great choice of drinks. Special mention has to go to the new " Build a burger menu " the lamb doner meat and garlic mayo went down a treat. Not an option you can find in many places so a big Thumbs up from us all thankyou 👍

Came over for a football game last weekend, walked around the Island looking for somewhere open on a Sunday for a post-match pint. Popped in and we're greeted by very friendly staff who even opened the kitchen back up for us for some chicken and chips. Lovely all round, thank you!

Fantastic food, great drinks and competitive prices. Unlike other establishments in the area the Tav is always welcoming to locals and visitors alike. When you walk in you feel like part of the family and not just 'tolerated'. The Tav has a great atmosphere and can be relied upon to be open when they say they are. Great live music and a real local hub.

What a great find on the last day of our holiday! Pub is nothing to look at from the outside, but open the door and you will be pleasently surprised! Warm welcome by the landlord and shown to a table. They where changing menus and what I wanted wasn't available but that wasn't a problem. The chef made the perfect pil pil king prawns with a delicious side salad and tiger bread. Perfect lunch all washed down with a glass of rosé. We will be back thankyou

What a great evening! Looking unassuming on the outside, dinner at the Victoria was fantastic. Inside we found modern decor and a great atmosphere, with a live music act to keep us entertained. The food was delicious, generous, and reasonably priced, with a lovely cocktail to finish. We were well looked after and will definitely be returning next time we're in the area

Had a lovely time at vic tavern tonight. Tried the full cocktail menu. Would definitely recommend drumstick sours. The nachos skinny fries and dirty fries were amazing Would definitely recommend. We were accommodated by the staff from the moment we walked in service was on point.

The fantastic spruce up of this once tired pub means that 'The Tav' looks like somewhere you wouldn't be surprised to find in a large town or city, but very much retains its local roots and delivers friendly, efficient and fast service, ensuring all are welcome. A delicious looking new food menu adds to the hard work that has been put in to this great new/old addition to East Cowes. Well done to all involved.

Came here with the family to try the new menu and was very pleasantly surprised. I had an excellent burger made in house with a very nice bun. The kids loved their fish and scampi and we intend to return tonight. We'll done on the huge improvement you have made.
