Good ales but a massive price....£7+ per pint.

😁 Shopping in Ryde and found this pub at the top of the hill. Nothing was too much trouble , had deliceous crispy bacon rolls and glass of wine. Definitely be going back 👍👍

We have just had a drink in this lovely bar . The place is Fab U Lous !! Great decor , great music and a nice landlord . We didn’t try the food but we will next time . Highly recommended ❤️

I'm a local and can truthfully say its an epic place to visit . Food is delicious , top quality drinks and coffee is better then costa .Service, well the owners and staff are really friendly and always make you feel at home. Lovely n cosy with a real fire in winter and great pretty sunny sitting space outside in summer ... Happy days . Decor is so funky and fab , also really good live bands occur regularly. Worth every penny so time you took a trip there and get out of boring corporate weather spoons !! Thank you ale and coffee house for always making me welcome x

I love this place - it's got an amazing atmosphere, the management and staff are very friendly and welcoming and I love the unique decor.

Lovely local pub with friendly staff, good taste in music and homely decor. Bit pricey but made up for by good choice of drinks, card/board games available and clean facilities. Generally a well rounded place with a nice atmosphere, would give it a visit.

I never use this pub because they block the High Street outside of its doors, dangerous for pedestrians

Stopped of here today for lunch, the food was amazing, and excellent value for money. The landlord ( never managed to get his name ) was extremely helpful and attentive, even moved some tables for us so we had more room for our delicious food. We sat outside today as the weather was beautiful, but the interior of the bar was amazing, very atmosoheric, with lots of retro memorabilia, and the toilets were extremely clean, with the nicest ever hand soap that I have smelt. If you ever find yourself in Ryde I would highly recommend a visit, I will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

Popped in for refreshment while perusing the high street and was not disappointed. The coffee was lovely, and my husband was very pleasantly surprised to find a beer on tap he has never seen outside of Spain. We just had nibbles, but were very tempted by the door-stop sized slices of cake. Great service, yummy food/drink, clean loos, and dog-friendly!

We visited Ryde last year and discovered this place then. LOVE all the plants and the friendly owners :o) While out in Ryde yesterday my daughter and I revisited, the atmosphere is great and enjoyed chatting to the owners again. Choice of gins was good and loads of snacks too. We'll be back!

The best pizza I have had in YEARS! Certainly one of the highlights of holiday.

A lovely pub/coffee house - I visited this lunchtime with my mum. We had coffee and pastries; the staff were lovely and very accommodating. I loved the interior - and being able sit outside at quirky tables in the sunshine was super. My nearly 90 year old Mum enjoyed it too! Thanks for looking after us.

I will be back for a pint and chill.

Very disappointed. Came to Ryde for a couple days for a christening, we went in here at 9.15pm and the staff refused to serve us because it was after 9pm! Not sure why this was but not great service. Won't be returning.

Very atmospheric and very friendly place, this quirky retro style pub coffee shop is well worth a visit, (or two), a lot of The Beatles memorabilia and other interesting stuff hanging around. We visited many times during our stay in Ryde, they have some excellent beer and cider on draft and their own fresh ground coffee blend. (We bought half a kilo of the beans from them) Our Monday visit turned out to be quiz night, really good fun.

The Coffee and Ale House has really had a face lift shaking off The Star vibes of the past. Good selection of beers (please bring coffee stout back). They've just got it right. Outdoor area is a plus. They do offer food which is good and reasonably priced. Recommend live music Wednesdays. ☺️

Prices are very expensive. Paid £5 for two small packs of pretzels that was not even half fall when opened. Asked for a sandwich and they never had sausage so could only have bacon and egg. Not many crisps to choose from.

Great friendly atmosphere and service, the owners have really made this place something different to try which is refreshing. Nice collection of bar snacks, with some flavours I'd never come across before.

Such a lovely place had the pleasure of working here as a contractor. The vibe is different to most places I visit. Such a good chilled and great looking pub/coffee house. Great range of snack you won’t see most places and the landlord and lady are very nice. If you’re anywhere near do pop in.

Wow what a transformation! I love this place, went in with a friend for coffee the other day, will definately be back. The decor is fab and the music, right up my street. Just perfect! I love what the new owners have done to the Star, it is now a cosy little pub with the perfect ambience, they have live music, quiz nights etc, and during the day perfect to pop in for a coffee. it's great for us as we live just down the road. We will definitely be using this as our local

Went here on Xmas Eve while visiting our family in Ryde. What a lovely place. No noisy T.V. but great music on screen, Jazz, Blues, with film of performers. Didn't have any food, but enjoyed beers and Mulled Wine. Went back on Boxing day and enjoyed Hot Chocolate with Amaretto. Staff were very welcoming and fun people. Looking forward to visiting again on our next visit.

Had a couple of lovely evenings in here while on a weeks Holiday. Live music, good beer and company of other drinkers and staff was great, a really friendly atmosphere, my dog loved it as well. Would highly recommend. Thanks Rob for a couple of great (and late;-) ) evenings and for running such a laid back place to spend some quality time.

Lovely coffee and very accommodating with our two little people, whipping up a babycino for them with no fuss. Comfortable clean toilets and and great chilled atmosphere.

Where to start ... this wonderful little gem is by far the best pub in the Isle of Wight let alone Ryde. The staff are helpful and very friendly and there is always a big welcome for all. The Star is dog and family friendly and the bar food just gets better and better each time I have it. There is an emphasis on local food and produce especially from the garlic farm. The landlord and his wife have changed this pub into a beautiful place to just sit and relax whether it's during the day while shopping or in the evening with friends. Quiz night and music night are well worth a visit.

Great latte, very lovely staff, allowed our dog in too which is always a bonus.

Hi, myself and my partner (Sarah) called into the Star inn in October. The Landlord was really friendly. In fact if he remembers me i helped to get his coal fire lit because he was bloody useless at it. Anyway we he had a good laugh and banter. Worth calling in to meet this fella as he does have a good story to tell and so chilled. Homely, friendly, shabby sheik and Jazz themed is what star inn is. Rob if you are ever offering bed and breakfast we would love to stay down for a couple of days. Thankyou John and Sarah

The owners are so welcoming and accommodating, with a fantastic selection of Premium coffees, Ales and spirits. A real touch of class for the high street. We can't wait to go again. My girlfriend & I stopped for a panini each yesterday plus some drinks. We sat outside in the sunshine & the owner couldn't have been more charming & helpful. He checked everything was ok & even made local suggestions. This was our first time in Ryde & we wouldn't hesitate to revisit the Star Inn pub.

This little gem is well worth a visit if you are in Ryde. The owner is a real gent, very friendly and obliging. Open since June 21 the new guy has decorated the place beautifully and has a good knowledge of what the Island has to offer. An excellent panini and Earl Grey tea for me. My sister said the best pinot for some time was her tipple and hubby enjoyed an excellent Gin. Would definitely recommend this lovely stop when in the high street.

Came in to get out of the rain. What a fantastic place! so much character could have a beer or a hot drink we had both and the staff were lovely to talk to. With a Blazing fire, some drinks and music was a ideal way to spend our afternoon.

What an absolute treat. I would definitely recommend that you pop in for food or any drink. We had the toasted paninis and they were hot, tasty and plentiful. Not only was the food really excellent the atmosphere and the friendly welcome just made our visit which was impromptu a very pleasant one.

I've walked past this pub many times, my sister works opposite, we decided to meet up here during this visit to the island. When walking in we were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. Really friendly staff who were attentive and served us in no time. I decided to have a coffee and glad I did, it was delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Came to Ryde for a work trip and honestly the The Star was absolutely fantastic, every staff member was so lovely and kind, a great laugh and a real treat to spend time with! The place looks incredible with some real quirky features and I have to say the wine and coffee there was fantastic. I can not fault this place and never felt so welcome somewhere! They even went out of their way to help me when they heard I had trouble with my accommodation. I can’t wait to come back and visit everyone again amazing!

A lovely addition to Ryde High Street. Rob and Lesley have transformed the Star into a warm, welcoming, and gentle place to eat, drink and relax. The coffee, courtesy of James, is beautiful. They serve excellent paninis and the pint of Camden Hells is a really nice pint. Rob, Lesley and James have established a unique, lovely and gentle atmosphere for Ryde High street. I wish them all the success for the future.

Such a beautful friendly place. Staff was amazing. Polite and very on the ball. My coffee was the best coffee I have had. What a turn around from what the star used to be.the new management have done an amazing job.Lovely place to take my children for a milkshake. My son loved his milkshake. Will be popping back this week with the rest of my tribe for a milkshake and ofcourse for one of there coffees. Would highly recommend popping in there 👌 a beautful clean,friendly local for the whole family.

Amazing new management with incredible eye for aesthetic detail. Even more attention to the customers experience. Warm friendly, amazing barista in Jimbob and lovely attentive genuine staff. An absolute must for locals and tourists alike. Will be back soon.

We were just walking past and saw the tables outside with a lady potting plants. We decided to stop for a coffee. Lovely warm welcome and nice coffee. Good luck with the business in the future.

They did their best, however presentation and the food was amateurish at best. The "cake" we ordered was just a cupcake clearly bought from the local supermarket. We ordered tap water yet were given still water we had to pay for. A lot of improvement is needed.

Thought I try this, not been in the star for over 20 years. Well, it's so much better now them all years ago. Sat outside, had one coffee, then a second. Friendly gave my dog a treat. Hope to go again.

Perfect no frills boozer, loved it nice Victorian feel with drapes and old piano in the corner original bar and some excellent original features above the bar worth noting. Well kept Timothy Taylor ale served by a very welcoming smart cheerful barman, clean toilets and plenty of places to sit. Friendly locals happily chatting and a mixture of late 1940s and 50s playing giving way to me having a 2nd pint. Could stay all day. What I really liked is no TVs on. A pub with character for sure and these are the ones we are losing. Old fire place by the gents looked like it is often used.
