After reading previous reviews and worrying about previous comments, I can honestly say our experience was far more relaxed and positive.
Lovely location in a very quiet village.
The weekend was fairly quiet even with nearly all the pitches taken.
It wasn't rowdy, which if I'm honest I was expecting this from the comments, everyone seemed respectful on our stay.
The pub food was amazing value for money and tasted really nice.
If your looking for activities you will have to travel away from the campsite to the local towns, we travelled to Goole to the shops and free museum, good for young children.
I think if your looking for a site just to relax, this would be the one and if you like to have a drink in the evening and a game of pool they have a small cosey pub on site.
Showers are very nice and clean and to be honest the £1 per 2 minutes on the machine actually helps keep the queues down at the showers, not once did I need to queue and I showered every morning.
It was a bank holiday weekend at the end of April, The Manager was present a lot over the weekend doing general maintenance on the site which definitely shows well as it seemed well kept when we stayed.
I honestly wouldn't let the reviews put you off.
It's worth at least experiencing once!
If you have young children it may be best to bring more activities along with you as my daughter got a little bored but only because other campers went out for the day and she was alone, there is a small children's park for the kids though.
I'd say that's the only thing missing is some daytime entertainment at the pub to bring everyone together. However the manager has his reasons for not opening during the day which is understandable.
It may be a nice idea to open a small grocery shop on site? Not sure if this has been thought about but would be handy to be able to buy a few bits on site instead of driving out but again probably the cost that would be involved may put the owner off doing so. Again totally understandable.
My mum came to stay in the little rooms with ensuites that have availability, which was nice and cosy.
So if you have friends who won't camp, it's ideal for them to book a room instead!
All in all it was a pleasant stay. We would definitely come back in the near future if we want a relaxing break.
Also the pitch we camped on was very well sheltered and the manager said he usually puts tents in this area. On other sites we usually feel the wind on the tent slot but this site we barely felt the tent moving in higher winds because it's very well sheltered!
Big bonus and good for first time campers who don't want to be put off.

From the minute we walked in Ella has made our experience sublime. She has a lovely aura that makes you feel welcome instantly! She is a credit to the business and we want to thank her for making our night extremely enjoyable, it’s been a pleasure 👏

The Blacksmiths Arms (sister pub of the Cornish Arms in Tavistock) is our favourite place to go right now. The Thai green curry is incredible! The staff are warm and welcoming, it’s dog friendly and there’s plenty of parking.

Sadly we had a family birthday on Thursday 22nd May.
Booked in for 5.30, drinks ordered within minutes of arrival.
Food ordered about 5.45, food delivered 6.55 minus one meal which the young waitress forgot to add.
Three minutes later the said meal was delivered to the table, so obviously not fresh and just microwaved.
Fish and chips tasted bland, pizzas were awful and the sausage and red onion pie had no red onion. The potatoe salad was no more than just a mush.
On reflection I should have said something but I didn’t want to embarrass my family.
The total cost came to just over £190 and again on reflection I should have questioned that bearing in mind the very poor quality of food.
I know people have to learn however there appeared to be little or no supervision.
I have to say that this has made me feel like I won’t be returning after this really bad experience 😢😢😢
Few days back met a friend on Gravesend mkt .my friend took me to his favorite restaurant called chattorey....as the name food also yummiest...we had few local Kent lager and start paneer shashlik, mushrooms, yellow Daal, garlic naan all delicious and authentic Indian food ..loved it ,had good food after so long...will ve visiting again as soon possible.
Thank you for delicious food
I came here with three friends on bikes, a little bedraggled after riding from Bristol. Once we’d worked out what to do with our bikes (thanks to a friendly local) we were treated to a lovely meal and a delicious selection of ales. Everyone seemed happy, families, staff, us, darts players, locals propping up the bar. Long live proper pubs like this one!

Great night, entertainment and bar staff. Who's idea was the dj who insisted on playing boom boom monotomous music all night. Lord above, why ruin a good thing?

I wasn't aware you could stay here, I just thought it was a pub. We came here on a weekend when they had a live band playing in the garden. The inside seemed quite small, but it was a lovely day and there was a really good size garden with plenty of tables and a play area for the kids. The service was really friendly and the food was really tasty. Would definitely recommend.
This is such a sweet little cafe in the middle of Yeovil, situated within a sweet little shop. There is plenty of seating available inside. We had the breakfast which was delicious and drinks arrived quickly and were very hot. Such a lovely place to visit if you’re in the area!
