We returned to this traditional English pub for our anniversary, having met there 8 years prior. Great food and plenty of customers for a mid-week lunch is a nod to the landlord, who was super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back for our next anniversary, if not before!
I commissioned a cake recently, and I was completely blown away by the appearance. Naaem takes into account everything that you request whilst almost making some helpful suggestions. Thank you for turning my vision into reality. The cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful, thank you to whole team!
We went to the Coal house for a meal with our friends to get together one evening as a catch up to see everyone, we were warmly greeted and the staff was excellent. We had a nice tasty starter to begin with that didn't take long to serve.. Then Dinner was delivered soon after, which unfortunately wasn't quite up to the standard of the starter, it was nice and tasty but did lack abit in the quality, I personally had scampi, chips and peas, and yes it was nice, but was lacking in overall, a few of us agreed that the dinner wasn't quite a 5 star meal but more of a 3-4 star quality.. Soon after dinner desert came and was a very tasty desert. I personally had sticky toffee pudding and custard and was delicious.
So overall we had a nice welcome, good starter and desert, but the main dinner meal was slightly behind.. But the staff were fantastic and we enjoyed our stay.
Thanks you Coal house 😊

The staff here are rather cheeky, and I left feeling like I'd been ripped off.
I ordered a half-pint of San Miguel but was served a full pint of something that tasted like a shandy. When I mentioned the mistake, they assured me I would only be charged for the half-pint I actually wanted.
When the bill came, however, I was charged £5 for a "small shandy." Five pounds for half a pint of what is essentially beer with lemonade? It's absurd. I paid because I didn't want to cause a scene, but it felt like a deliberate bait-and-switch.
The food was tasty, I'll give them that, but the portion was quite small for the price.
Honestly, save your money. There are plenty of other places that deserve your business where you won't leave feeling like you've been taken for a fool.
The garden is sheltered from the wind and a bit of a sun trap. We spent a beautiful afternoon relaxing, chatting and soaking in the atmosphere of the garden over a couple of bottles of wine. Dog friendly (outside) too and the staff were friendly and warm. We made some cherished memories there and will be back again. Thank you.
Ordered food as i witnessed the plated gold they were bringing out for others. I was not disapointed. All the staff were so happy and welcoming it got me excited about the food and my time here very nice regulars, and the randoms that came in (like me) left with a smile. Very clean toilets clean bars and tables. Very nice ye olde interior alot of history. Thank you !
Just visited morris of usk, after walking around the lovely shopping area and purchasing meat from the well stocked butchers ( the butchers kindly cut me extra extra thick gammon steak) and then we went to the bakery for bread pudding still hot from the oven.
Although the restaurant was packed we still managed to get a table where we ordered cod and chips the cod came out like a whale, never seen fish such a big portion, both myself and my daughter we unable to eat it all. It was delicious, the only down side was we both had not room left to enjoy the lovely cakes they had on display. We will definitely be returning to try them next time.
Must also add that the staff work their sock off at the restaurant but are still kind and helpful.
Staff are always lovely, I can highly recommend the caramel cappuccino and and the cheese and bacon turnovers!!. Lovely location. Not a bad word to say about it.

A little gem of a find! The food was fantastic and home cooked. The staff were friendly and attentive. The place is freshly decorated and nice and clean. Looking forward to going back there.
We pre ordered our food yet still it was wrong, service was slow, staff were rude and the food was cold. Vegetables served with the Sunday roast were very small portions and it wasn’t made clear how many people they were supposed to be shared between. After all this they still had the nerve to add a service charge to our bill! Do not recommend.
Sue’s Gluten Free cakes are stunning! I’m currently tucking into a slice of gf lemon cake and it’s delicious, Sue is lovely too. The lemon & Blueberry, coffee and cherry bakewell are all just fabulous ❤️❤️
