delicious food, very friendly service

Very lovely meal for most of us. One not so good piece of fish was exchanged for another meal which we obviously had to wait for. Would have been a great gesture to have been offered a complimentary drink or credit for that but otherwise all good.

Fantastic food served in a great atmosphere... Couldn't ask for more - service great too!

Very pleasant, after a long walk along the Ridgeway. Good value for money, the omelette were very good. Pleasant staff. It's just up the road from Avebury, so if you can't get in there, try it, can't loose!

I have to agree with all the best Sunday roast comments already on here, nothing else to add. The staff were excellent and the atmosphere was good.

Lovely people, and nice stop. There are a few vegan options on the menu, including a crumble dessert. There's a conservatory as part of the dining room. If you buy a meal you can, by arrangement, park your campervan overnight, though note there's no access to the toilets outside opening hours.

A very nice cosy place in the heart of a nice part of the country side. Customer service is excellent. The staff is friendly and always welcome to answer some questions. Fish and chips was fresh and delicious. I do recommend it ❤️. Various types of ales and cider. The pub is owned by the community.

Great food, I have the spinach and mushroom sauce with a fried egg for start and then 24 day old steak with purple sprouting broccoli and pepper corn sauce GF too. Again I have to highly recommend for great food.

Four of us had an amazing meal here. The food was piping hot, presented really well and absolutely delicious. There is a really ale on tap from a local micro brewery which was lovely. The restaurant was warm and not overly noisy. The staff were fantastic. Would highly recommend a visit here.

We visited here as a family with two children after Avebury stones. The Sunday roast was delicious. Could have eaten more but glad I had room for dessert 😋 The children really enjoyed their burgers. Great size portion for older ones. The outside play area was a bonus and the boat to play in was a definite hit. We will definitely be back!

Very nice country pub/restaurant, decent menu and nice beer. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The food was good, I ordered a steak which was cooked exactly as requested, and I am fussy. The toilets were very clean and well appointed.

The Winterbourne. Winterbourne Bassett. A wonderful venue. The welcome presented to us and following level of service that we then experienced was in a word... Superb! Sunday lunch...Lamb rump and my lady had the Sea Bass. Fantastic. Even served up more roast spuds as I am a roast spud fiend. House red wine very nice and even had 0% Gin, so my lady was well pleased... A quality venue with quality staff and the other patrons also had any issues resolved in a thrice.. So if your a foody then I recommend it to all.

Chose The Winterbourne for our 70th birthday meal based on previous excellent meals there. A party of 15, we were given free choice from the menu which catered for all needs. The food and drink were superb. It was served with perfect timing by wonderfully cheerful staff - amazing considering there was another large party going on at the same time! Can't speak highly enough of our experience. Many thanks to all.

Our little Wednesday evenong dining trio has been eating out at various pubs/restaurants for about 15 years. We have a list of venues which we visit in rotation. We had the Winterbourne on the list back in 2020 but for some reason it dropped off the list. We thought we'd give it another try last night and very glad we did!. Things were looking good right from the time we arrived where I could not help but notice the immaculately kept garden.. a sign that somebody really cares! Next into the building where we were warmly greeted by the manager and shown to our table. The menus were handed to us.. they were clearly laid out and there was a wide choice whether it be meat or fish. There was also a specials menu. I decided on the Sea Bream, my wife had the Salmon and our friend had the Pork tenderloin. The food was delivered in good time. My Sea bream was the best fish dish I've had in a very long time, my wife loved her Salmon and our friend said the Pork tenderloin was exceptional .. high praise indeed and well justified. When everything else was so perfect if was a slightly surprised that when I asked for a fish knife I was told there were none available but in the grand scheme of things that's nothing. Let it be said I'm a very fussy customer. I don't give such compliments lightly or without good reason.. and I'm just as quick to complain if things aren't right but overall this dining experience to me fell into the category of fine dining.. I see somebody else said that the chef deserves a Michelin star and I would agree!.. I took the trouble to thank the owner before we left. We are so glad we returned after 3 years to find this lovely place. It's owned by the community and now it's back on our regular dining list. Your hard work and care stands out a mile.. Many thanks again. Let's hope this is the start of a great relationship. You provide the fantastic food.. we'll eat it and in return provide the praise.. and the business!.. We wanted to eat with some friends in a typical English place. Near the famous abbey stones. And this place was perfect. They treated us very well and the food was good.

The Winterbourne is a wonderful 'find'! It was recommended and we certainly weren't disappointed. A really lovely location, super beer garden and space for children to play, lovely garden room and in the pub itself everything was laid out nicely and the ambience was excellent, thanks to the cheerful, helpful staff. Needless to say, our meals were first class.

Brilliant experience! The sweet potato curry was recommended to us and was amazing, so compliments to chef Alex. The front of house manager was great too, so we'll definitely be back!

I've been to this pub before and was very pleased with the food...but our son took us today for Sunday Lunch and we were doubly pleased. The Roast was perfectly cooked as were the vegetables, which unusual for busy lunchtimes. obviously cooked to order not standing around and going soggy. Great meal. Thank you. We will return

Booked Sunday lunch for 13 family as an early birthday celebration. We were looked after from the moment we arrived. Food was delicious served on hot plates, service from our young waitresses very friendly & efficient. Our grandsons made use of the outside play areas. Can recommend The Winterbourne 100%

Visited The Winterbourne after walking the dogs on the gallops had an excellent 2 course lunch from their meal deal menu. The spicy lentil soup was absolutely yummy. We sat outside in one of the pods, but could have gone inside, with the dogs (as they are well behaved). The bespoke brewed beer: Winterbourne Pale was super and lived up to the standard I expected from the Broadtown brewery.
