This is such a lovely pub with delicious food! They also have a nice kids menu. The interior is very cozy and the service was nice, although ended up being slow at one point because they got very busy towards the end of our meal so we couldn’t end up ordering dessert. We would definitely be back though.

Both of us had Belly Pork for dinner, but perfectly cooked and presented with very crisp crackling. Very friendly staff.

Visited the pub for the first time after a long walk with some friends as the location was convenient. Lovely pub, still retaining lots of character. Lots of choice on the menu, but was good to see the local map of where all the produce was sourced from. Staff were wonderful and also made the dogs feel very welcome.

Nothing to say except that we got lucky we found a table at this pub on a Sunday. The food is great and the staff very nice and friendly. The a-la-carte menu seemed really interesting but we couldn't try it as the Sunday roast was on (I'm not complaining lol)

The Salutation Inn has a fantastic drink selection, from local ales to tasty cocktails. The staff is friendly, and the cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for a relaxing evening. Highly recommend!

Came here on the spur of the moment for lunch and so glad we did. Pleasant restaurant with plenty of space between the tables. The young lady waiting at our table was very pleasant and didn't hesitate to check with other members of staff when we had a query. We all enjoyed our meals, the cod and chips looked and smelt delicious. Desserts were enjoyed by some members of the group who were impressed by the size of them - certainly no small portions here. At the end of our meal the waitress advised us that she had only been working here a short time, we were all very impressed with her pleasant nature and her hospitality, a great asset to the business.

This is a very good country pub not in the least pretentious like some of its neighbours the food was very good the staff were very attentive and all in all a very enjoyable visit I look forward to returning

Just 5 minutes from Castle Combe I thought the surrounding area would be an expensive tourist trap however The Salutation Inn had truly delicious food lovely present at an excellent price that surprised me with such great value for money. Great service and a beautiful place to sit. Highly recommended for drinks or food! Can't praise it enough.

Great quality pub food served by a friendly, engaging waiter. The menu isn’t vast but we ordered the fish and chips and a cheeseburger which were both really good. The chips were perfect and the fish arrived in crispy batter with no skin on. We had eaten at the Castle Inn ( Castle Combe) the night before and the fish and chips nearly matched it! Charlie served us with great enthusiasm and engaging character. This place really surpassed our expectations!

Lovely visit to Salutation inn. The service was awesome and fast. My friend had dietary restrictions which were handled perfectly. The beer here is decent too. The Sunday lunch offers a wide range of meats with vegetarian options. I would recommend to visit early for the Sunday lunch to limit unpleasant surprises like a sold outs

Another happy occasion and good food as always at the Salutation. Friendly, efficient service, plenty of space between the tables in the restaurant and the best fish and chips that rival the best I have ever had in Whitby.

We just came to explored the main village of Castle Combe. However since it was past 3pm, food is no longer served in three establishments there. We found through on-line that Salutation Inn was open for dining nearby so we booked ourselves, good for 9 folks. From the time we arrived to the time that we left we were served impeccably with great service by the staff (Charlie, Theo, Ella and another lovely lady whom I forgot the name). The food’s arrival was not of a long wait. It was excellently prepared and was of best quality of standards. We may be originally from London where we are used to wide range of international palate, however we find the food of this lovely Inn, outstandingly first class and truly yummy! Credits to the chef and those that prepared the food. The staff were remarkably pleasant, accommodating and hospitable. They took the extra mile of making us feel at home. In terms of whatever requests or needs, it were all done in gracious speed and uttmost friendly smiles! As significantly a small deed of needing to have charged importantly my phone, to that of having our photos as a group being taken for posterity, all were rendered with genuine care and great cheer. Kudos indeed to the establishment and the staff.

My wife and I stopped in here this afternoon, on a little drive around the area. We were short of finding anywhere else nearby open after 3pm. Once we entered, the bar staff straight away asked if we were OK and if we'd like to be served drinks or food. We we're told the restaurant was busy, however we could eat in the bar area or outside. My wife and I both ordered the Hake option, something different to our 'usual', typical idea in other restaurants. We didn't wait long for the food, around 20mins-ish. The Hake option was the best, fish based meal that we have ever had! Probably the first time that my wife finished the meal before I did! I spoke to the bar staff after to say 'Please pass our appreciation to the chef, the meal was incredible and we would love come back again'. Out the front there is a seating area, however more tables could be put in place. From where we were sat, we could see a rear garden on the other side of the inn. Beautiful place and we will definitely return in the future.

Very rude staff! Was recommended to us by local friend as we were visiting the area, but was definitely a NO for us. Can see from previous reviews that we weren’t the only “tourists” to be made feel unwelcome. Plenty of choice elsewhere, stir away!

Rude to foreigners, will do their best not to serve you. Dont bother going if you are one. Guess what they say about the UK country side is true in this place…

Poor quality of fish and chips ,the fish looked like the cat dragged it out of the water,the the meat feast pizza base is still looking for its meat and as for the olves ,more than 8 would have been nice for the price paid

What a gorgeous Sunday lunch after taking our daughter for her first driving experience at the Castle Combe race circuit. We had roast lamb and loin of pork with beautiful roast potatoes and veg accompanied by a platter of seasonal vegetables, mint and apple sauce and extra gravy. What an absolutely fabulous touch! It certainly was the perfect meal to round off a perfect day. We will definitely be back!

Visited with my family on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Beautiful pub with lovely food and lovely welcoming staff. The pigeon was well cooked and very well presented.

Discovered The Salutation on our recent trip to Wales. Three meals in two days, each one absolutely delicious, each one different. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend to anyone staying or passing through this area. My only regret is they're not in my neighborhood in Minnesota.

Drove there off a long journey after seeing that they serve food till 9. Got there 8:40 and the guy said in no way could he serve us food as such a busy eve- was a Wednesday and no one about

Lovely place, gorgeous food, nice atmosphere, great staff. My 88yr old dad has been using this pub since he was 15 & will tell you the large restaurant was a stable with 5 horses. The hay would come in by the door above your head and into the manger hanging above them. I worked here in 1989 when we’d do 160 covers on a Saturday night. Have always loved the place, thank goodness it’s back to its former glory days with wonderful very dedicated hard working tenants.

Good pub where you can enjoy flavory sandwiches and classic dishes like fish and chips (big size!) and baked salmon. Service is not super fast, so take you time and enjoy a couple of pints.

What a wonderful place! The salmon fillet with samphire was absolutely delicious and probably the best I’ve ever eaten! Really friendly and made a big fuss of our little dog too! Would definitely recommend!!

The menu is quite mediocre along the lines of ‘pub grub’ rather than anything special. We enjoyed the food with two vegetarian main options, I had the vegetarian burger which was charred. Lovely atmosphere in a spectacular traditional old building.

What a lovely inn! The decor is great, it looks very cozy inside. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The inn is dog friendly! We had Sunday roast there and it was delicious and good value for what you get. A big range of delicious puddings as well. I tried the tart with salted caramel custard and oh.my.god. heaven! The only downside would be not enough veggie/vegan options but that might be the case for just Sunday roast due to having so much meat etc cooking.

Really lovely Sunday Roast in a great pub, however we felt extremely let down by the service. An old lady serving at the bar proceeded to look us up and down upon entry. When we asked for a table she said how many are eating, we responded with 2 and she rolled her eyes at us?! She said yes but you’ll all need to sit down won’t you (there were 4) but that isn’t what she asked us initially. She showed us to our table and literally threw the menus down. Really disappointing as the food and pub are both lovely and we visit often.

I pass this lovely old pub every week so decided to pop-in for a meal. The food was excellent, very friendly locals - human and canine and the staff were top notch. The carrot & cumin soup was terrific as was the sea bass... indeed the whole meal was tasty an dwell priced. We will be back, recommended!

Stumbled across on the way to Castle Combe and popped in for some pub lunch. Beautifully decorated British pub and one of the best burgers I've ever had (Tip: we added the Halloumi 😋)

Everything was beautiful about this place. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5 was for the small choice on the menu. It could do with a few more options but the staff were all super friendly and everyone was happy with their dishes. The fishfinger sandwiches are insane!!! 😍

Excellent Sunday lunch. Came very quickly, was piping hot and each piece of it was amazing. Was also very good value for money!

4.7 Google Map rating brings us here and we enjoy our dinner very much. Friendly services, good food and lovely environment at normal pub price. Steak is good quality. Honey glazed chorizo is unexpectedly tasty!

Popped in Saturday lunch time without booking. Luckily we were early and so managed to get a table. Food and service were exceptional - we all had Fish & Chips and drinks. Batter was crip, fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside. What a find out in the Country. When we left the place was full and the atmosphere was buzzing. Obviously a case of 'you do right - and they will come'! We will book next time.

Cosy country pub, well kept Bristol Beer Factory beers (& more on hand pump, usual lagers etc ). Excellent burger with super chips. Very good Mac & Cheese too. Liked the emphasis on local ingredients. Friendly service. Tuesday lunch, but still busy enough to make a lively atmosphere. First visit, but sure we will be back, based on this trip.

We stopped here unexpectedly on our way back to Folkestone. Lunch was really, really good. So yum!

A Sunday pit stop on the way home, turned out to be one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve ever had. Service was excellent and the food superb. Definitely coming back. High recommend

Ended up by chance visiting Castle Combe, just 10 minutes drive away; it was jam packed with all tables reserved indoor, but had space in the back garden. The food was good and arrived fast considering the crowd that apparently it is regular on Sundays. The espresso prepared was very excellent and no take away cups. The staff are very nice and friendly in spite of being very busy. Very nice experience

Lovely, quaint, cosy pub with great food. Went for a sunday roast, I had a nutroast and my partner had the beef. We both really enjoyed our food, maybe would have liked slightly bigger portions but what we did have was lovely. Desserts are also fantastic. Nice selection of drinks too. Would love to come back around Christmas when the big fire is lit!

Nice venue, friendly staff, we ordered the venison, this was cooked to perfection. Lots of gluten-free options. I would definitely recommend The Salutation Inn.

Good pub grub cooked freshly from fairly local produce. Pleasant service. Only one real ale, but a nice one.

A lovely lunch! Five of us, all chose different items from the menu, including one with gluten free needs. Everything was delicious and imaginatively cooked. Fish n chips was huge, juicy and crispy, hake succulent, gnocchi excellent too. Puds could have been a bit larger but tasty. Staff delightful. One criticism, the loos need some attention! Overall a good experience and we will be back soon

Nice beer in a delightful spot, lots of outdoor seating and friendly helpful staff. We weren't there to eat but what other people were getting looked lovely and in very decent portions.

What a charming spot. We were thrilled when we drove up to the Salutation Inn, and doubly excited when there was a parking spot right out front! Walked in to the pub and was greeted by the nicest woman, who with a big friendly smile, welcomed us. My husband and I were seated in the dining room, and ordered the Sunday Supper. I had the traditional beef and my husband had the pork loin. Both were delicious and the service was good. Would love to go back and hang out in the bar area sometime!

A real gem of a pub. We had a wonderful meal here, reasonable prices for excellent quality food. The pumpkin gnocchi was utterly delicious. Staff are very friendly and it was lovely to have some dogs hanging out.

This has become my familys go-to restaurant. The best place for amazing "pub grub" i come here often and have eaten a lot of the meals, the menu changes seasonally , there is always something new to try and reasonably priced for what you get. I have only had 2 visits where the stars didn't align ,service was slightly slow, and only a few things were left on the menu. I will continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone who asks for a good place to eat. One request bring back the halluomi fries side.

My Wife and I ate at the Salutation Inn several times whilst on holiday at Castle Combe. Every meal was excellent and cooked to the highest standard. The service received each time was impeccable made even better by the friendly and welcoming staff especially Ella. We highly recommend the Salutation Inn for Sunday Lunch but you will need to book as it is popular with both Locals and tourists. If you can't do Sunday Lunch then the weekday menu has an excellent choice for all tastes. This is one of the best restaurants that we have eaten in and cannot recommend it highly enough.

After a frantic few phone calls on a hungover Sunday morning, we managed to secure a booking for The Salutation for a last minute roast. Luckily they had a cancellation. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and before long we were sat eagerly anticipating our Sunday Roasts. The food, ladies and gentlemen, was sublime. I went for beef after a coin flip to ascertain the hardest of questions. Beef or Lamb? The spuds were on point and it all came with a cheeky bit of extra gravy alongside the seasonal veg (also on point!). If there is one thing I've learnt about The Salutation from my experience it would be to make sure I book to avoid disappointment. The best roast dinner (from a roast dinner snob) in the surrounding area, by a country mile!
