Enjoyed a Sunday lunch here food was good service was efficient friendly facilities were easy for children and family enjoyable experience.

Went for lunch with my husband. I ordered the Peri Peri Chicken burger after consulting with our server and my husband had Lamb Shank and mash. Both meals were excellent and the service was great especially from Amelia

Visited this place on a weekday and it was particularly busy as they had a large unexpected party of people arrive. The staff were very helpful and attentive. A bit of a wait for the food but that was not a problem, quite happy about that, but when it arrived it was certainly worth waiting for, perhaps one of the best local steaks I have had for a long time. It's a shame we re not a little more local as it would probably be one of our regular places to visit. The chef, a female chef, well done, did an amazing job not only of the food preparation but the presentation, both impressive and appreciated. Well done top marks.

Steak was cooked perfectly. Good quality meat, fresh tomatoes were delicious. Homemade onion rings was nice also. Great value for £19.95. Peppercorn sauce wasn't the best, was almost peppered gravy.

Very good food also want to thank the lady behind the toll with red/purple hair. My sister is deaf and she could communicate with her. This makes my sister feel very good as she's included and loves when people can talk to her. I would 100% recommend this place 🥰

We both had rump steak with all the trimmings, garlic mushroom sauce a blue cheese sauce . Followed by chocolate fudge cake. Food was good to perfection , can't fault anything. Staff are very polite,and caring. I will return soon

I have to say we thought The Coal House Grill Sunday dinner was good the first time we visited, which led us to book again. Everything from booking onwards is efficient and effortless, with prompt and helpful communication. Now for the food. This has to rate as the best Sunday dinner we've had anywhere, and we've had one or two.. The meat is flavoursome and tender, the vegetables are cooked perfectly, and not just a bowl of mush. Proper roast potatoes, gravy, and then the Yorkshire pudding OMG amazing. If you're looking for a great Sunday roast at an equally great price, look no further. You won't be disappointed. A massive, very well done to all the staff and management, we will most definitely be back......

Had a lunch here with 20 other people on Valentines Day which we pre-ordered. The meal was stunning 👌🏻 everyone commented on how delicious the food was and how generous portion sizes were. The staff were all so lovely and so accommodating too (not easy with a group of that size, especially on V-day!) ..thank-you CHG for a great experience 🙏🏼

Came to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. From the moment we arrived to the second we left the service was great. I think her name is Alex,is a great manager and made our experience so welcoming along with a young lad who was quiet but very good at his job. Food was lovely and service was fast. Will definitely be back .

Called for lunch today following a recommendation. We didn't have a reservation but were lucky to be seated straight away. Great service, and food was delicious. Many thanks to all the staff for the lovely welcome and service. We will return next time we are in the area.

Absolutely amazing food and service, we went for their steak special and such amazing value for money. My friend had the homemade lasagne and couldn’t fault it. We were all quite full at the end so decided to share the choc fudge cake. Who doesn’t love chocolate or cake.

This was our first visit to the Coal House. We were there to celebrate our friends 70th birthday. My wife had fish and chips and was very good. Our friend had the sausage and mash special which was adequate. I had gammon which was very overcooked and tough which was a challenge. I was asked twice during our meal by different people if everything was OK and I informed them that the gammon was very tough. The young lad said he was sorry and the lady who cleared the plates said she would let “them” know. The apple crumble and roulade deserts were OK but nothing special. Service was good and the restaurant is very clean and well presented. Shame the owners just want your money and are not really interested in your experience. No reduction was offered or a complimentary coffee to compensate.

Second visit this time for a Birthday lunch on 28th Dec . Originally booked for 8 so we had to pre order. One guest was unwell so couldn’t make it but there was no issue at all. The service was quick and attentive and again the food was fantastic with generous portions. I had the rib eye steak cooked perfectly medium, 2 guests had sea bass , one chicken stack and one hunters chicken. Compliments all around . No photos as we were too busy chatting and enjoying our meals. Thank you for a lovely afternoon .

Can’t thank the coal house and the chefs enough for a fabulous Christmas Day dinner. The food was outstanding. I had the Katsu prawns followed by lamb and full of amazing great flavour. Thank you for making our day amazing.

The best fillet steak I've ever had. As a fatty, I should know! Seriously, the steak was full of flavour, tender, properly cooked and larger than the usual 8oz steaks at 10oz. The next best steak I had cost 5x as much. Highly recommended

We all had an excellent experience. The food is amazing and the staff are so lovely, polite and welcoming. Today we went out for some Sunday lunch and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I went for the roast Belly Pork, and I kid you not - it was this huge brick of pork on my plate, and I demolished it! I've been to the Coal House for food on some occasions before and each time I've had something to eat here, I'm never disappointed. Their steaks are something else! Pre-ordered from a menu for an event for a 70th birthday. Menu changed, but instead of sending a message to say sorry the menu had changed and we had to reorder, they still made the original choices. This is one of my families most fave places to visit. The kids especially love it here. The staff are all very friendly and polite and the food is wonderful. Has a decent size car park at the back.

This place does not meet up to the level of previous reviews. Unfriendly staff (minus one member), rude customer service (“he looks like he’s having a strop” about my little boy), and an awful atmosphere (continuously looking over at the table, making us feel very uncomfortable). I checked their menu thoroughly online due to dietary requirements, I booked a table on the Sunday for a Wednesday lunch time. Unable to book the time I wanted was amazed to find it empty apart from seemingly one other table, of loud cackling women....

Food is good and looks creative. It doesn't have a great vibe though, which is unfortunate. The outside space is not really a beer garden more the unused bit of the carpark. That space needs attention as like the Smiths Arms it could be more attractive for outside diners. The carpark itself would make a good set for a WW1 battlefield. The table by the kitchen door / storage room is just not suitable given the staff were in and out and whilst not their fault was disruptive All in all v good food but inside lacks character.

We've visited The coal House grill, on many occasions, over the past 2 years. It was unbelievable value for the quality of food and service. We did feel around 6 months ago it went down hill, service and food quality. Decided to give it another, tonight and it was awesome 👌 the fillet steak 😋 perfect, real chips real chunky onion rings 😀The pub even seemed cleaner 😀 we can't wait to go back 😍 only marked atmosphere down, as we like music in the back ground 🎶🎵🎼 personal preference 🩶

The food at The Coal House is incredible. Have been several times and every time it’s brilliant. Would recommend booking a table, and I’d also recommend the garlic bread!

Amazing Sunday dinner once again.. my partner had the beef and I had the chicken salad. Full of flavour and even managed room for dessert.

After having to seat ourselves at the worst table possible in we had a further 20 minute wait for drinks and then had to ask three times if we could order!! Beef was cold, Yorkshire pudding like a rock and a over powering pepper taste...

Really disappointed on my recent visit having had great experience previously. The starter of garlic mushrooms came out on burnt toast, totally spoling the whole dish for me . The main was hunters chicken, where the chicken was really tough could hardly cut and needed more bbq sauce . The rest of the meal was good as was my partners lasagne. Trying to order extra drinks was difficult as the young waitresses were run off their feet maybe more staff needed at peak times?. Although they were doing their best more customer service training is clearly needed. Our mains were cleared in haste with no interaction. We sat for 10 15 mins awaiting a desert menu , never turned up so we decided to pay at the bar and leave . Again really disappointed overall.

I don't usually write reviews, but this place really deserves to be recognised more. My husband and I had steak, he had ribeye and I had fillet (only one I like), and oh my gosh it was AMAZING!! The steaks just melted in our mouths, absolutely perfect. We had a blue cheese sauce and a side of beer battered onion rings which were a meal on their own. The service, the staff, food, drinks and whole environment was fabulous 👌🏼 Thank you Coal House Grill 🥩
