The White Bear in Flintshire

The White Bear is a proper "local", which shines through in a lovely way ☺️ The amosphere is really great and great music! Carling is a nice pint and they have a nice selection of wines - albeit a bit over priced. The staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming but a little slow on service and keeping an eye on the bar. Food is very overpriced for what it is - Tikka Masala is £13.50. When I ordered, I asked if it was homemade and was told "I believe it is", which is why I ordered it. It isn't. It's a bought in sauce, the chicken was rubbery from re-heating, the microwave rice was clumpy and there was no mango chutney. When we get a rare chance to get out and treat ourselves, we'd like a meal that is better than we can cook at home, which is what we were hoping for. We didn't get that - given the prices, that's a shame. The White Bear is a great place for beer, music & socialising but not so good for food.

Local boozer in Mancot. Great locals proud of the area. Strong aviation engineering trades etc, great lads. Decent scran & beer.

9 of us showed up with no booking and had a great afternoon. The food was good, the kids were £1 each as it was a Wednesday. The service was fast and upbeat. Thank you for a great afternoon!

The staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. My daughter was made to feel welcome and comfortable which made my experience so much more enjoyable. The food was lovely and the portion sizes where even big enough for my greedy husband.

We love coming to The White Bear for something to eat. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is top notch and excellent value for money. We've had the Sunday roast several times and it never disappoints !!

Food was to nice but burnt my mouth

Food was amazing and everything that the pub did was so good.

Visited whilst holidaying locally. We sat outside on a sunny day with our dogs. The food was reasonably priced and tasty.

Really friendly place both for us and the dog with dog treats and blankets/beds .They serve really nice pizza or salad meals. Outside beer garden and nice inside. Pay and display car park opposite.

We had a table booked for 6.30 Saturday 3rd August 24 for 4 people. We arrived on time to find a few people at the bar waiting to be attended to. After waiting for over 5 minutes it became apparent that the one and only bar staff on duty was working the side bar and the restaurant side. It also became to our notice it was his first night ever on duty. He had no idea we had a table booked and told a walk in just sit anywhere again he had no idea about booked tables about to arrive. He eventually got to speak to us and told us to just sit anywhere. We were not even asked about what we wanted to drink. After about 10 minutes sitting at our table with no service we decided to leave. Just to be clear we do not in any way blame this barman, we felt so sorry for him. The management team really let this member of staff and their customers down tonight and its very unlikely we will return.

Went mid week with two friends food was fantastic and the pints were perfect all in all 10/10 very impressed worth the travel, dale looked after us all night top man top pub.

Had such an amazing meal and drinks at the White Bear! Service was amazing, food was top notch and the place was immaculately clean! Would recommend to anyone that likes good food and a friendly pub! Staff were always on hand and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. An absolute credit. Will definitely be eating there again!

Well what can I say!! Six of us wanted to revisit too see how the new menu and Connors cooking shaped up? Firstly what a warm and friendly welcome from Dale and Hayley. Marstons you have two diamonds here and you should be proud of how they represent the local pub and community they are truly an asset to your organisation. We had a truly brilliant night the food was fantastic along with the brilliant service we received from all staff. We will definitely go back and try something different from the lovely menu. We would highly recommend this establishment and thank you all for an amazing night Michael and friends

Delicious pub grub! Appropriate portion size. I had a proper pie with shortcrust pastry and the hubby had a homemade chilli with half rice half chips. Kids meal, can’t really beat a nugget. Hot and cold drinks. Complimented by a pudding to match any sweet tooth.

Lovely family and pet friendly pub. Lots of different ales available and delicious food Inc vegan options. A good mix of entertainment from bingo and quiz nights to football and live bands. Very friendly and welcoming staff and locals. Fully recommended. *edit. They now have a new chef and a menu change. Lots of gorgeous food. Highly recommend.

Spur of the moment decision to go for a meal, excellent choice, risotto for me and chicken curry for other guest, excellent food followed by a fabulous calorie loaded cheese cake, wasn't cheap but super value

I'm not repeating everything here but this place is shambolic and I'm totally fed up of no service and no food being served no matter when I arrive (times advised by staff). I really wouldn't bother. You might be lucky but I've only managed to get food 6 times out of 10 on the days they're supposed to be serving. I might have known it wasn't on tonight. The place was pleasantly warm for a change.

Asked google to direct us to the nearest pub that served food while on the way home, so glad we did this is a gem of a place, food was brilliant and really good value, two of the chefs specials had unfortunately finished due to being late in the afternoon that's to me is proof of its popularity, my fish'n chips was the best I've had in a long time, staff was friendly and very efficient, Highly recommended will definitely be back.

Restaurant peaceful, bright and welcoming as usual. Been to the The White Bear on a few occasions and each time it has been great. Steak pie and homemade chips is a favourite! Lovely staff and great service too.

Went for Sunday dinner here for first time in over a year and was disappointed with it. Everything was just piled on the plate when previously the veg was in a separate dish so you could decide which veg you wanted and the beef was very tough and chewy, sticky toffee pudding also tasted a bit stale. Shame as we have previously had really nice meals here, not sure if owners have changed since we had last been here but the food definitely has.

Visited the White bear for the first time since pre-covid today. We used to go there quite regularly, back then it was excellent so we decided to give it a try after seeing a review online. Well I can honestly say it remains excellent despite a change in ownership. The food was cooked to perfection, piping hot and plentiful. The wife had standard size which was a very good size, I chose go large but couldn’t finish it. Staff very friendly and service was excellent. Will definitely be returning in the near future. Returned Here for the first time since my review above and suffice to say it is still 5* We change where we have Sunday lunch weekly and must say the white bear is in our top 3 and we have been to a lot.

Amazing pub with a friendly service with a smile. They serve my favourite lager staropramen at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere with the locals and enjoyed the darts match tonight. Had such a laugh with all locals

Great meal - lovely food and drink

We were passing through and after reading several reviews that 'this was the spot'. The food was delicious! Wait staff was friendly. We had tempura shrimp as a starter, meat pie (for the boys), and I had fish and chips. We 'ummed' and nodded at each other as we ate. Great value for a wonderful meal Highly recommend.

We had Sunday lunch here with my parents who live nearby (we are all foodies) and they loved it.. but there was no choice of menu.. desert was nice.

Friday curry night the service, food, drinks and karaoke after was absolutely fantastic, the full menu was still available if you didn't fancy a curry. Friendly staff and customers as always x

Nice to see our local pub so busy. We had a meal there yesterday and the food was lovely.

Came down for curry night on Friday and all aspects of the experience were fantastic, from the friendliness of the hosts, to the politeness and warmth of staff, to the quality of the food and atmosphere within the pub. This was our first time coming to the pub for food, but we will be coming back again for sure.

Had a really lovely family meal on my mothers 94th Birthday. Food was great and the service excellent.

Nice place staff are very efficient food is very good however for the price the portions bit stingy with the meat and so on compared to going to a carvery for same price. Good choice of meats. Did find that the table I was seated at was very sticky needed to be cleaned properly .
