The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving African food

I've been to the King and Queen before and thought it was OK, bit after my last visit I will think twice about going back. I took my parents in to Hamble village for dinner, we decided to look around first to see what took our fancy, I walked up to the door of the king and queen to have a look and before I'd even got to the door a young waiter came out trying to get us in, not very classy, a bit like a cheap Spanish resort mentality, I explained that we were going to have a look around which he obviously wasn't impressed with. Anyway, we returned as it was a quiet Monday night in the village and there was a few people in there. Upon entering the same young waiter held the door open, my parents walked in but he let the door go on me as I walked in, very rude. We sat down and were served drinks, he then came over to take our food order, not a smile in sight, he asked us "do you have any allergies" and I jokingly said "paying the bill" with a smile, he just looked at me and walked away! we were left gobsmacked at the rudeness of this young man, my parents described him as arrogant. When our food arrived he asked "is there any sauces I can get for you" I said "do have any mustard', he looked straight at me and said "I don't think I do" and just stood there, how can a restaurant not have mustard,? how can a kitchen not have mustard? he just couldn't be bothered, to say this guy has a bad attitude is an understatement! The burger was under seasoned and bland, which added to the disappointment of our experience. What a shame the the place that my parents love eating in when visiting me has been ruined by the attitude of a trumped up kid with a bad attitude, neither myself or my parents will return.

Great service nice carvery, it was fairly quiet and the veg wasn’t very warm I think because it had been stood a bit but still ok, deserts were very good

Very disappointing indeed! My family love this place. Was planning a visit for a while. Finally found the time to pay a visit, we checked out the website and times of closing. I constantly tried to call the number on the website . (at least 6times) any way we still decided to visit, as it said 6pm on website we started our journey ( 60 mile round trip) Was very excited when we arrived, walked inside, there was a few people at tables, the band practicing, a lady, blonde hair not sure of she was host or waitress ignored us for a few minutes, I went over and asked if we could get some drinks, she said sharply we are closing at 3pm today, was quite shocked and replied, oh website advised 6pm (time now a little after 3pm) she snapped back, NOT TODAY, the manners and attitude threw me a little.(she seemed under pressure and short tempered)I tried to explain, it would ne good for potential customers making a long journey to visit, if you kept the website updated or at least answer the phone. There's a right way & wrong way to speak to people, she was very rude indeed. Has we was leaving, a member of the band asked what was wrong, I told him what had happened. Okay, I get private function was on that day, but even after all that, it's how you treat people, Some times ITS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, ITS HOW YOU SAY IT!!

A friend had heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Food is different and delicious, filling and a must visit for those who like trying new foods.

Sadly, this restaurant seems to have closed; it used to be our favourite rendezvous for a meal before a gig at the Academy, but I've now tried visiting twice over the past three months and both times it has been shuttered up with no sign of activity. The phone line also seems to be dead. However, it does still seem to be furnished and have tables laid up, so it is just possible that it is opening intermittently and my visits have been unfortunately timed. If anyone does manage to eat here successfully, please post a review and, if possible, provide an update on its opening policy!

Les expliqué que ya habíamos hecho lo mismo en otros restaurantes y que todos se alegraron de habernos servido la comida hasta ahora. Sin embargo, todavía se negaron a servirnos la comida. Entonces les sugerí que tenemos amigos que viven a solo 2 minutos y que si vienen aquí para mostrar sus caras, ¿podrían servirnos la comida?Todavía se negaron y dijeron que tendríamos que cenar en el restaurante. ¿Volví a confirmar con ellos si eso significa que se pararían junto a nosotros y nos vigilarían para asegurarnos de que todos estamos comiendo? No respondieron pero insistieron en que no podían servirnos.Al final no tuvimos más remedio que irnos. Al salir, una mujer de edad avanzada (suponiendo que ella era parte de su personal) me preguntó por qué tomé fotos. Le dije que voy a escribir una reseña sobre nuestra experiencia y las fotos son para probar que habíamos estado en el restaurante. Los dos se enojaron de repente y comenzaron a gritarnos cuando salíamos por la puerta.Me sentí completamente decepcionado por su forma de tratar a los clientes, que casi arruinan nuestra noche. Este es el tipo de restaurante al que no le daré una segunda oportunidad y tendré que advertir a tantas personas como pueda sobre cuán ridículo es este lugar.

I used often when in town , always had a great meal . Only worry was my middle , but still get mouth watering thoughts. thinking about oxtail with jallof. Fast food perfect . Not a sit down . More of an on the go type

As usual this place is outstanding to be at. Marta and Olga were excellent. The attention to detail and the smile makes a difference. The manager, wow excellent from the moment we step in. Friendly, kind and treats everyone with such attention that makes a difference. The food...wow wow. I loved it. This is a place I keep coming and making sure all my family and friends have the opportunity to enjoy this place @marina cafe.

This restaurant is gone it’s upd and went to the restaurant heaven in the sky it is no more it’s ceased to exist and doesn’t has passed

Gran noche pasada aquí, la comida era deliciosa. Propietario y personal - excelente. . . Mi única queja sería que es bastante caro, por lo que debe considerarse una visita u ocasión especial, no en un lugar en el que pueda pasar o tratar como su local.

Guau. ¿Por dónde puedo empezar? La suculencia de las carnes variadas, la p p del jollof, el sabor a cecina y garra del plátano era absolutamente sublime. No he tenido una comida tan satisfactoria desde mi brecha en Gambia, verdaderamente magnífica. Mis felicitaciones al joven que era chef y camarero, o como dirían mis camaradas nigerianos: "Necesita tantos elogiosssssss". Y puedo decir que el suya llevó nuestra comida a otro nivel. Después de dos o tres piezas, la p p realmente golpea la parte posterior de la garganta. Wow wow. ¡Un 20/10 de nuestra parte! Definitivamente volveremos muy pronto

I ordered from here off uber eats, I wouldn't again as they sent me burnt rice stuck to the tray and 3 pieces or beef. Spent quite a bit for that meal just for it to go in the bin as the shop was closed when my order arrived a hour late.

We were very disappointed with the food. We order the Family Meal 1 off the menu for £35. The pizzas we chose were the Margareta and Chicago, the Margareta was burnt on top and was bland and the Chicago had no pepperoni on it or if it did had no taste plus this was burnt and bland. The only good part was the sides and the bottle of drink!!!! I did look at the reviews before ordering on thete website, but the people have low expectations or they were done by friends or family!!!!! I will never order from there again

A friend and I went in @ 5.30 on a Saturday. We weren't shown a menu or prices. We considered the waiter helpful and friendly as he talked us through our options. We ordered 2 medium size meals, 1 bottle of beer & 1 bottle of water. It is more a cafe than a restaurant. The food was cheap cafe standard. We were charged £50 & the waiter refused to let us see a menu or drinks prices. £20 would have been a fair price. .
