Honestly. This place is nothing short of 5* I last visited roughly 2-3 years ago now, an I had the best calamari of my life. Ever since I’ve been searching for better and been disappointed at every turn. Never living up to FISK. I said to my-self before I visited today not to get my hopes up. They always say, don’t meet your hero’s… you’ll be disappointed. Disappointed I was not. The calamari was nothing short of exceptional, the Monkfish Curry was amazing and the dessert top marks.. lol… Thanks, Happy customer (STUFFED)

I keep coming back and giving the chippy another chance but no more I arrived 1720 ordered fish and chips twice On opening the food not 10 minutes later as I only live 2 miles away The chips weren’t just cold they were hard , probably meant re cooked chips and no way was the fish freshly cooked. It was dry and soggy. Enough , there are so many chip shops in Ripon not all can be as bad as this one. Never again

On a trip to picturesque Pateley Bridge – a pretty little town in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales – we chose High Street Fisheries for dinner. This classic fish and chips shop is centrally located on the main street and, from the outside, appeared down-to-earth and authentic. The online reviews fluctuated between praise and criticism – reason enough to form our own opinion. The small shop has the feel of a typical British snack bar: functional, a bit dated, but clean. There's limited seating, and you shouldn't expect much atmosphere. If you enjoy your snack outside, you can at least watch the hustle and bustle of the charming high street – a pleasant plus in good weather. The service was businesslike but not particularly cordial. The lady behind the counter worked quickly but was rather curt when asked questions. Everything was routine, but a smile or some friendly small talk would have improved the experience. Overall, it was solid, but didn't make a particularly strong impression. Unfortunately, the food was the weakest part of the visit. The fish was crispy fried, but the taste was disappointingly bland – even after adding a generous amount of salt, it didn't really deliver a delicious meal. The breading was very greasy, and the fish itself lacked flavor. The chips had a rather soft, somewhat mushy texture and were also very oily. Particularly annoying: A slightly pungent taste of old frying oil spoiled the overall impression. The location is worth mentioning – ideal for a quick meal while strolling through Pateley Bridge. If you like rustic food and just want something warm to eat on the go, you'll find it here. The portion size is generous, and the value for money is decent for the region. High Street Fisheries is a classic village fish stall with a lot of potential, but it doesn't quite live up to it. In terms of taste, my visit fell well short of expectations: too greasy, too bland, and with an unpleasant oily taste. The shop serves its purpose – but nothing more. Okay for a quick bite, but for real fish and chips, there are definitely better places in Yorkshire.

We went for the surf and turf x2 tonight. Absolutely amazing food but the service really put a downer on it. We was welcomed by a lovely lady downstairs that got us a table for 2 on walk in,but unfortunately was made to feel unwelcome when we got our table upstairs by a very arrogant server. The overall experience by the server has put us off returning, but the food was lovely.

Food is actually quite nice but unfortunately the staff need to update their customer service skills. Staff are more interested in their conversations with their colleagues or friends who come in to see them rather then serving customers their food. Asked if they could get my food as my young child was particularly hungry and kept asking when they were going to box it up for us. The woman pulled a face and didn't look happy that I have interrupted her conversation. This is in contrast to a couple of weeks ago when served by the boss who was great. Maybe the counter staff they should remember that without us they wouldn't have a job!
