Cracking Spot, great folk. Great food with great service.

Amazing succulent fish, chips are spot on and had a cheeky curry sauce too. Mark & Helen are lovely welcoming people. Couldn’t recommend this place more

Not been in a while but having read positive reviews I thought I'd give it a go fish is cooked to order so that is a good thing they were very nice cooked to perfection nobody wants undercooked fish surely? The prices seem very reasonable too doubt you'll find any cheaper in Ripon.The only gripe I have is that they come in newspaper & greaseproof paper which means you might end up losing some of your batter which is a shame as the batter was delicious.I know most fish shops use boxes now which is better but I suppose the excellent prices here reflect on them not using them here. So I certainly would recommend you giving them a try.

I think I set my expectations too high after reading previous reviews. Ordered the Michael which is supposed to be 1 and a half fish. I got 3 x small pieces of fish which equated to 1 normal fish I'd say and a small portion of chips. The batter wasn't crispy, and I asked for scraps which they forgot. With a sauce and a can of pop it came to £13.20 which left me feeling a bit hacked off for the amount of food I received. Not the review I wanted to give. Sorry. Nice staff and the fish itself was nice but let down unfortunately by portion size and soggy batter.

Best fish and chips around for miles, We have not been here for a while as it’s not our local but it’s worth the trip, just had the most amazing fish and chips, always cooked fresh, you have to wait but it makes all the difference that they are so fresh, the couple the own the place are always friendly and you can have banter with them, there prices are also very good compared to other fish and chip shops, 100% recommended, oh and you can put your own salt and vinegar on 👍 as much as you like Thanks 🙏

used to go to another fish and chip shop in ripon but were disappointed after going there for many years. someone recommended trying north street fisheries and they were right. been 3 times now and they were right. lovely cooked fish ordered when you went in and chips cooked to perfection. will always go there now and recommend to anyone.

A fantastic chip shop right in the heart of Ripon. I turned up with 20 school children and 4 adults. Helen and Mike (I think) were so welcoming, nothing was an inconvenience, patient and were fantastic with the children. The quality of the fish, chips and sausage were top notch. We will be back! Fancied fish and chips in the sun. Great warm friendly welcome. Fish cooked fresh (and got some hot scraps too). Tasted great and very reasonably priced too. Only a few mins from the main square so could sit on a bench and enjoy the weather and the view. Totally recommended

Amazing fish and chips! Owners are awsome people with great humor too. They have the best fish and chips In Ripon and looks like they're introducing Marks home cooked chilli again which I'm so excited for. 100% recommend North Street fishery. The owners are Dog lovers too and have a few furry regulars that love a little chip as a treat wich is cute to see.

It's been a long time since I had chippy chips that amazing! Great tasting crispy fish too! I didn't even want to add any sauce as I just didn't want to take away from that flavour! 🙌👏🏻🤚 Super friendly and the owners even spoiled my dog with some chips too!

Lovely chips, we called in 5 minutes before closing, absolutely no issues! popped some chips in, went for large box of chips, both me and misses struggle to finish them all, but seemed rude not to. No hesitation in recommending this chippy great food and helpful staff we will be back !!!!!!

Theres not enough stars the owners went out of their way to make me a proper Yorkshire fishcake, rooting through a sack of spuds to find one big enough thanks ,the fish was small so he done 2 which where excellent,,forget the rest this is best

Arrived in the area late on Friday for a holiday and after a long drive referred to trip advisor to find the best recommended fast food place and very pleased to have found North Street Fisheries. Food was made fresh and both fish and chips were very tasty and just what was needed.

Called in on our way home to the South West after a miserable wet cold day. Beautiful freshly cooked fish and lovely chips. Lovely chat with owners. We will come back. Thankyou.

First rate fish and chips,yes you have to wait while the owners cook them but it's well worth the wait.

I have to say this was THE BEST Fish N Chips I have EVER had. Fish was cooked fresh and to perfection and the chips were just bang on.. crispy and soft inside and not a soggy one in sight.. Even my youngest son polished every last bit of his off too which he never does.. highly recommend 👌 Such an awesome find. We'd travelled from Pontefract to go to Fountains Abbey, got there a realised we had to book so went to find some food and stumbled across this place... so glad we did it made the hour drive there 100% worth it.

I called in and ordered a “SPECIAL”, I thoroughly enjoyed their version, ie one and a half fish with a beautiful portion of chips. Came to Ripon for the second time with my family,had to see if our previous visit was a one off and I’m very happy to say it wasn’t.North Street Fisheries is a truly award winning chippy.We couldn’t manage all our fish as it’s so big and the chips are amazing.Well done to the owners,top job,always a joke or two.

Best fish and chips I've had for over a decade. Will go again.

We travelled from the Wirral to Ripon to pick up a tool we'd bid for on Ebay, which turned out to be a wasted journey. That was untill we found this lovely old traditional fish & chip shop, we were "starving' so decided to have the fish chips and curry sauce, OMG it was by far the best we've ever had !!! it was presented in a recyclable cardboard box, (well impressed). The owners were very friendly towards us and gave us plenty of information of what was in the area to visit for future reference. They also had it very well organised for your safety, they had an in and out 2 door system, hand gel on the counter and only 2 people were allowed in the shop at one time and they could very easily stay far enough away from each other by 2 metres or more again very impressed. When it's back to "normal" we will explore Ripon further and definitely be back for your amazing fish & chips. Thank you..

Popped in for a takeaway fish and chips for lunch. They were cooked to order. The owner was very plesent and chatty. The food was delicious and among the best fish and chips we have ever had. Very highly recommended.

I was passing by this very ordinary looking little chippy whilst working away from home. I decided to pop back at tea time (that’s dinner time to you southern folk). My first reaction was disappointment because they don’t sell cod. However I was persuaded by the owner to try the haddock, telling me that his was superior. I wasn’t entirely convinced at first but I’m glad I listened. It was without doubt, the best haddock I’ve ever had and the chips weren’t ordinary either. Fantastic chips and fantastic fish with fantastic crispy batter, no skin and not a bone in sight. Even the mushy peas were remarkable. This has to be the best chippy for miles around and definitely worth passing a few for.

Really good fish and chip shop with friendly staff. Chips are made using Sequoia potatoes and they were superb chips with not a scrap left on anybody's plate. Highly recommended

What a brilliant fish and chip shop. Lightly battered fish and well cooked chips at a great price. Really enjoyable, nice people and a few seats that you can sit at to eat inside. Would highly recommend it!

Stopped by at lunchtime and had freshly cooked fish and chips. The fish was beautifully white in a light coating of batter and the chips reminded me of the ones my grandma used to make - delicious. The place was really clean and the staff were very friendly. I will make a point of returning here if I pass through Ripon.

This evening I went into this fish and chip shop after 30 years living abroad. I was greeted by a husband and wife team that were incredibly warm and welcoming. Great to chat to. Made me feel as though we had been friends for years. The food was lovely. Everything as remembered and more. Absolutely delicious. Couldn’t ask for more. In no way could I finish the vast portions either. What a wonderful place. Please, if you’re anywhere close to Ripon, do yourself a favour and go here.

Very friendly service delicious hot food ample portions ,my hubby and I have been visiting Ripon for 8 years now but this is the first time we have been to noth road fisheries ,if you go to the others please try this one you won’t be disappointed also prices are cheaper than most others

Excellent (absolutely delicious) freshly cooked food; you even know where the fish is from; immensely friendly; popular (so must be good!). Don’t go anywhere else in Ripon for fish and chips!

I visit Ripon usually once a year for a few days and always arrange my schedule to see Mark and Helen for proper fish & chips at least twice. These days I ask for a half-portion of chips - the servings are most generous. Old-fashioned, cook-to-order using the best ingredients. Quality is excellent as it has been for many years. Not at all fancy; mostly takwaway but one small table, nice if you're staying in a B&B; close by. You can get almost-as-good at some local pubs but after this place "almost" doesn't seem quite so close.

This is to me the way a fish and chip shop was and probably should be very helpful staff nopping clean but is is all about the food, traditional and very tasty we ate in and it was quite busy people were from far and wide. Will definetly be back there next time I am in Ripon.

Ate there few times already, and will do so in the future. Always a fresh catch, decent portions & super friendly service - all that for a very reasonable price! That's a perfect combination, really!

Maybe I shouldn't give full marks just for chips but I am going to as they were excellent. Just stopped on the way through Ripon but looking at the fish on display, and the price, will be back soon.

As soon as we walked into the shop, we were greeted in a very friendly and welcoming manner. We liked that we were asked what we were ordering before we got to the till so that our fish could be freshly cooked. We also liked that we were asked if we wanted salt and vinegar on our chips before the fish was placed on top of them. The food was excellent, very tasty indeed and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be visiting again in the very near future. Well done to North Street Fisheries! Food and service at its very best!

This was one of the best Fish and Chips I have had in years if not ever!!! After a gruelling day in the sun we just fancied some Fish and Chips and happened upon this little gem as we left Ripon. Having managed to find somewhere to park we walked back to it and are we glad we did. It was fish and chips twice, with scraps and four scallops!! Washed down with R Whites Dandelion and Burdock I thought I had gone to heaven. The fish was absolutely awesome, battered to perfection. Every last scrap was polished off and even though we live 20 miles away in the Dales, we WILL BE BACK!

We were only really just passing through Ripon when the hunger pangs kicked in. North street chippie was open and the smell was wonderdul. Meal was freshly cooked and fish was crisp and hot. Not over battered either. Chips also nice and crisp and freshly fried. Owner was cheerful and friendly. A welcome oasis whilst passing thru !

Popped in for a light lunch on a walk round Ripon, they did smaller portions and which was great. The food was freshly prepared and well cooked. The owner was very friendly and couldn't help enough.

Not a fan, went for fish and chips and came out with half of what we went in for. Had very little left at half six on a Saturday so assuming if you go on an evening you get the leftovers, fish/ potato cake wasn't nice, chips were ok, couldn't get any peas, and save yourself some money on Bisto's watered down curry sauce. Owners realised that the meal wasn't up to standard so attempted to win us over by confirming the fish was line caught, brilliant, but didn't take our focus away from the rest of the food. Next time I'll just walk further up the road to a different local chippie.
