What a find! Part of the Retirement Village at Hollins Hall but thankfully also open to the public, it is a sheer delight! Hosted by Sarah, who is lovely and runs a very friendly team, the menu is reasonably priced and varied including all day breakfast, soup, sandwiches and light bites, but best of all in my opinion are the daily specials, - a choice of two and changed mid week, they are delicious. Good fresh unpretentious food, superbly cooked. The cream tea too is very good value and nicely presented with scrumptious scones, choice of jams and a generous helping of clotted cream. They also do Friday night dinner and Sunday lunch. The menus are posted online and kept up to date which is commendable. The historic house is beautiful with wonderful views from the terrace. Even dogs are welcome on there, but not in the dining room which is understandable as it is impeccable. Best to phone to book as they are a small concern and do cater for events including weddings which of course would affect availability! I’ve been with different friends for lunch three times in two weeks and planning to go again tomorrow. Sadly I’m shortly to leave the area so making the most of it while I can and eager to share this find. They really deserve to do well. Thank you Sarah for making us so welcome.

What a lovely place to visit. We had a warm welcome into luxurious surroundings. The 3 Course meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were polite, attentive and professional. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is not only for the residents as on a Friday, the restaurant is open to the public.

What a mistake I made when I decided to eat from here. The grey, dry fish was covered in the greasiest batter I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Not much could even be said of the cardboard chips. After a few brave attempts, I decided not to finish the self-inflicted torture. Also, I was very loose later that evening. Not a good experience. Giving a bad name to fish and chips. Disgusting.

Freshly cooked fish, chips and mushy peas. Batter was great, just the right thickness, crispy and not oily. Really nice staff too.
