My husband and I (James and Murrie) received first class service from Mark on our most recent visit. Extremely attentive, very friendly and professional. We both work in the industry and so really appreciated the attention to detail. New to job, he explained, a credit to the place. Written 13 May 2025

Lovely setting for a memorable experience. I have to drop one star because the room available online (Mamounia) was not as good as the others I have viewed. It was the smallest, the wallpaper was scuffed, the bathroom lacked flat surfaces to put toiletries down and the shower head wouldn't stay at a suitable angle. OK for one night but the other rooms would give a better experience. Lovely grounds and universally friendly staff. We would stay again but in a different room.

Beware of zero customer service. I have a voucher valid until dec 25, to the value of £200. When I called to book the hotel refused to honour it. Despite numerous emails letters and phone calls (manager will not come to the phone) asking for explanation / clarification I have had no response. Not even an acknowledgment of my queries. Do they have a valid reason for refusing? I can’t imagine one, the voucher is in date, but if they refuse to communicate how do I know and/or resolve the situation? So sadly I have to resort to the small claims court, but if the hotel will not respond to you, what else can one do, other than waste £200?

Amazing place. Haven't been for a few years despite living just down the road. Wanted somewhere special to take the in-laws for a Saturday evening meal after they had travelled up from Essex for a horse show. I have to say everything was absolutely fabulous - the welcome, the service, the food, wine and atmosphere. We all really enjoyed it. It was superb. My Daughter wasn't feeling well and wanted something plain - chicken and chips was no trouble at all for the chef - and she loved it. Absolutely first class all round!

Quirky hotel, the rooms all have a different theme. The restaurant is a short walk through the grounds.and has eclectic decor. Wonderful seafood menu. Our bed was comfy,.the Ritz was nicely decorated, canapes served in the bar were a nice touch and the free hidden beer tap too! (A wine tap would be great though 😊). Staff very helpful and welcoming. Room was very hot though and couldn't work out how to turn the heating off during the night, opened the window but a bit noisy with other guests outside (at 1am), so had to close it. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and meal. Breakfast was wonderful too and lots of choices.

Can not recommend the Carb & lobster more as a experience to be savoured from the rooms the grounds but as as outstanding as they are nothing compares to the standard of service from the numerous Staff all should be commended for thier work to make you feel relaxed but welcomed as you would by family member. Even on the short walk down to Breakfast to receive a cheery Good Morning from a member of ground staff a genuine one not the usual forced interaction at the bigger chains of hotels. This was our fourth stay it's our juilty pleasure for special getaway really should keep this Gem of a hotel to ourselves Enjoy you'll not be disappointed.

Popped in to the restaurant on the off chance for lunch, we were very surprised they had a table but didn’t complain 😊. Lovely food, we chose from the set menu 2 courses for £30 or 3 for £35. Very good value. Highly recommend the fish pie 😋. The tables are nicely spaced out not on top of each other, there is a bar area, restaurant or tables outside if you prefer. Staff very polite and knowledgeable 😊😊😊

Had a truly lovely stay at the Crab & Lobster — stayed in the shangrala, what a gem of a place! The atmosphere is full of character, the food was absolutely top-notch (the seafood was spot on, as you’d expect!), and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Our room was quirky, cosy, and full of charm — just the right mix of comfort and personality. We especially enjoyed the peaceful setting and attention to detail throughout. From start to finish, it felt like a proper treat. A cracking place for a romantic getaway or just a bit of a spoil — highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

We have stayed numerous times and it’s always our go to for relaxation. It’s the little things that make a difference. Cleanliness in the room wasn’t as good as usual. Toiletries have been downgraded. Sat with my nine year old daughter in the restaurant area and could clearly hear a staff member swearing. Ladies on reception were lovely. Just the attention to detail that has lapsed unfortunately.

Lovely food as you might expect but you pay for it. Very expensive but very nice. Recommended. ☺️ Update April 2025 Another reasonable experience though getting a bit overpriced now especially compared to peers. Food generally ok though the actual menu on the day bears little relation to the sample menu on the website. I find this misleading - others might disagree. Desserts are all £10 which is consistent - portions very small though.

We’ve been to the Crab & Lobster many times over the years and have stayed overnight on three occasions. It’s become our go-to spot for celebrating our anniversary each September. On our last visit, I opted for the sirloin steak and, to be honest, found it a little underwhelming, not terrible by any means, but not quite up to the standard I’d come to expect. I usually go for the fillet steak, which unfortunately wasn’t on the menu that time. This week, we decided to return for my birthday, and I’m so glad we did. I had the Haddock & Chips, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The chips were outstanding, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside and the haddock was absolute perfection. We were served by a South African gentleman (I regret not catching his name), the same person who looked after us on our previous visit. He’s a real credit to the team, attentive, friendly, and with a sharp eye for detail. Can’t wait to come back again soon. Also, the IPA on tap was a real treat!

All the staff were friendly and welcoming the dining room was beautiful in the candlelight. We have visited before and have always enjoyed the experience but we felt extra spoiled this time with everyone going out of their way to make the evening memorable. The food was delicious. I think the lobster Thermidor is perhaps the best I’ve tasted, half was perfect for me but the birthday boy splashed out on the full one, and it was huge, served with a nicely dressed salad and amazing chips! The Pear Creme Brûlée was fantastic, the assiette of desserts shared by my friends topped off evening perfectly.

After visiting this restaurant several times over the past 20 years the quality , service & presentation of this restaurant no longer reflects what it was ! We last listed 3 years ago & the service then was applauding on that visit but decided to try it again . My husband booked it as a Xmas present for me , the accommodation was nice , but the service , quality of food & presentation leaves so much to be desired ! No longer is there any garnish on the plate ! Everything looks plonked on ! We asked for 3 separate white wines , out of a choice of about 7 only to be told that they were all out of stock as they hadn’t been to the local stockists to restock , eventually the bottle we had was full of sediment & then to be told by the bar manager it must have been an old bottle ? The prices they are charging do not reflect the quality they present ! £88 for a lobster & chips? Breakfast took over 50 minutes to serve & half the food on the plate was undercooked ! The other half over cooked and inedible , with the kitchen staff then shouting & falling out amongst themselves using foul language which could clearly be heard in the restaurant! Gents becareful when washing your hands and make sure you hold the tap in place ! Did not make a pleasant stay or experience would not recommend or revisit again ! No wonder they now only have a 3 star rating. , they have done well to achieve this !

Lunchtime meal Thought £35 for 3 course was cheap...after meal I thought I was robbed! Living off past rep I think... Menu limited Opening with stale bread, knob of butter,no balsamic no olive oil, no alioli ,no nice fresh out of oven bun (little things). One of starters was bruschetta , two chunks tomato, 3 bits of avocado and a tiny drizzle of something ( not enough to taste what it actually was), again, no olive oil ,no onion, no balsamic..very boring. Main- fish pie- absolutely disgusting. Was more like baby food. Basically it was a bowl of mash that's consistency was two whisks away from being soup. Fish included a few chunks of salmon and a couple bits of white fish. No mussels no prawns no squid..woeful. The mash was too buttery and left a horrible after taste, I felt like I'd had a tub of ghee! Puddings was a pear creme brulee that came cold, it's consistency was too runny and it tasted of NOTHING, garbage, those ones you get in a glass dish from supermarkets are better. The other was a raspberry bakewell tart that was on the cusp of being burnt ( definitely wasn't fresh) and again, it was absolutely tasteless, no frangipane, no sweet taste of the jam, the almonds on top were burnt. Was so looking forward to first visit here and I will never return it was poor. A poor menu that couldn't even deliver such basic grub. Don't waste ya time n money going here, it's obviously had its day. Oh and no soap dispenser in mens toilet (little things! Again!).... Sorry I lied to waiter when asked " was everything ok"...I should of been honest and said "no,it was crap"

Haven't been here for over 10 years and it was always top notch food, service and professional. We decided to treat ourselves staying overnight at The Manor with dinner and breakfast. Overall we left totally underwhelmed. Reasons are: 1. Check-in. Went direct to restaurant bar to check-in and were directed back to our csr to take a short journey to the Manor. We witnessed many other couples doing the same thing traipsing luggage back and forth to the car. Not a big problem but was not made clear. Just a touch sloppy and unprofessional. 2. General maintenance. While sitting in bar alone we noticed part of the gypsum ceiling crashing to the floor. As the bar was empty I checked it and a large rectangular section had fractured and fallen into the cosmetic fishing net on the ceiling. Fragments fell on to the floor. I reported it to bar staff and they quickly got maintenance involved. As a builder I advised the staff what they could do. The staff apologised but didn't receive a thank you for raising the alarm. 3 Rooms. No problem with them. Very comfortable, stylish and quirky. Some complimentary snacks and coffee. Only issue was a leak on the bath. 4. The hotel offer complimentary hors d oeuvres in the hotel bar between 5-6pm. We ordered two drinks and a small plate of hors d oeuvres was later presented. I have to say they were absolutely rancid. They were stale, tired and inspid. Obviously the hotel want you in their bar to buy over priced drinks. Very very disappointing. 5. Restaurant. The meal was average and the service was poor. Some of the staff were professional while others were not. I ordered a bottle of chardonnay and somehow we ended up with Sav Blanc which after consuming a glass realised the bottle was not what I ordered. There was a 1 hour wait between the starter and main. 6. The bill contained a 10% service charge on the meal. This was not voluntary but landed on the bill. I don't mind tipping but only when satisfied. Overall, an expensive experience where quality did not match price. We will not use again. It seems it is living off its past reputation.

We were meant to visit in December but couldn't make it due to being ill. We contacted the hotel who were great and understanding and moved the date for us. Just arrived home after a great night away. All staff we came into contact with were so helpful and friendly especially the young lady serving drinks in the hotel bar and also the night porter. The room we stayed in was the Mount Nelson which was very quirky and also very clean ,the room was also stocked with some treats ,Cookies ,crisps and nuts , plenty of tea and coffee all included in the price. There was also a hidden Beer tap located in the hotel ,which I happened to find and sample a couple of times 😉. Spent a couple of hours in the hot tub and sauna on the afternoon which is another plus point. There is also a pitch and putt golf hole . We ate at the restaurant on the night which had a great atmosphere, the mussels for starters were one of the best I've had ,the only negative of the whole stay was the pork belly which wasn't cooked enough for me as I expect the crackling to be crispy not soft. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Highly recommended.

Beware!! This hotel does not honour the wording on their voucher which states ‘Gift vouchers are valid for monetary amounts, in exchange for services of equivalent value’. We tried to book a winter getaway ‘bed, breakfast & dinner’ package which was just short of the value of the voucher but were told we could only book bed and breakfast. Reached out to the general manager for explanation as to why our request was rejected and still awaiting a reply 16 days later.

We have been here for many years after a 4 year gap what a disappointment, our under flor heating didn’t work the room was freezing a maintenance man did try to sort it but to no avail we were offered an electric heater my husband had asthma so we declined that, our evening meal was booked for 8:30 we arrived at 8:15 and we told we were too early and to sit at a dirty used table till 8:30, we we taken to our table and had to wait 20 mins until I asked if our order would be taken I was told they were busy and someone would be with me soon, the food was bland muscles were scarce and most were empty, husbands steak was also bland and tasteless, when we paid the bill £50 was deducted because of hearing issue, various drinks which he had not had were added to our room this was sorted, they added £14 tip to the bill when we had written on the bill we didn’t want to pay this because service as awful, sadly we won’t be staying here again it’s an expensive luxury and we felt it was overpriced and didn’t enjoy the experience.

I have left 5 stars for this place previously when I was staying as a standard guest, this time I am leaving a review as we just had our wedding here less than a week ago and as expected our experience was just incredible! We have stayed here 5 times now including our wedding and I can never speak highly enough of the venue and the restraunt, as we were here for our wedding this time with a booked out venue we had the privilege of seeing every single room and I can honestly say that every single one of our 41 guests felt exactly the same as us, every room is perfectly designed, unbelievably clean you won't find a specific anywhere even given the amount of artifacts everywhere! The food is so consistent and the staff are wonderful, for our wedding they honestly couldn't do more for us and our day was so much more than we ever thought due to the little touches that were done by the staff without us asking, we were made to feel welcome by all staff members from restraunt, hotel, night porters, cleaners to maintenence just everyone was incredible! I cannot reccomend this place enough and we know it took only seconds of being there for many of our guests to want to plan their next trip! Looking forward to my husbands birthday lunch yesterday, we chose from the a la carte menus, we weren’t given the choice of the Xmas set menu, wonder why! would have nice to have been offered it. I chose prawn and crayfish cocktail with Bloody Mary shot, beware.. prawns were brown shrimps not juicy large prawns, no crayfish and no Bloody Mary shot price £16. To be fair main course of wrapped monkfish was excellent. I ordered 1 cheese board, what arrived was unbelievable, 2 small slices of Wensleydale cheese, 4 thin biscuits and 2 pieces of fruit cake. On arriving home and looking at all the menus, it appears we were given the set menu cheese plate, no explanation why, certainly not a cheese selection, but still charged the a la carte price. Considering we only had 1 small glass of wine and 2 beers, 2 ( 1 dubious)starters, 2 mains and 1 cheese, it was certainly overpriced at just under £160. Had we been given the correct order from the menu I may have felt more satisfied and would not be writing this review. Will certainly not be returning, overpriced and underwhelmed, not a patch on the Wensleydale Heiffer for less money.

Spent the night in the Las Vegas room, and had a great night! We checked in and were shown to our room by friendly staff members, the Las Vegas room is £345 a night. The room looks like photos but is quite basic, the bathroom looks fabulous though. Hot tub is great, the Las Vegas room is in an area with 2 other rooms but couldn’t really hear the other occupants, but could hear feet walking in the room above occasionally. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a delicious breakfast the next morning, the only reason it hasn’t got 5/5 is because the skylight is broken has a pair of slippers propping it open, there were finger prints on the bed frame - we actually found it amusing trying to figure out what previous occupants had been up to, but could maybe have a better clean, the plug is broken in bath tub, had to use keys to release it, and the room decor is a little lack lustre. But we would love to come back and visit another room! We had an explore and I think the Raffles room is top of my list for next time!

The afternoon tea was good and service throughout excellent. Lovely cakes snd savouries and tea and coffee whenever needed. If we had a suggestion for improvement it would be to serve additional hot water with the tea pot, and a cafetière of coffee rather than single cups. A lovely experience. Geoff Harris

27/10 we have just visited The Crab and Lobster today for Sunday lunch. With a band playing and a full house the atmosphere was wonderful. I had 3 courses starting with cheese soufflé and followed by roast beef. They were exceptional! The small finishing touches made everything top class including the Cider Sticky Toffee Pudding with the apple puree which added another dimension to a perfectly light and sublimely tasty pudding! My husband was thrilled with his sardines and fish pie. The service was 10/10 including the bar service with a recommended lemon tonic to my blackberry gin. It’s not the first time we have visited The Crab and we have left it too long but I know this will be a regular haunt for us now. Disappointed with quality of starter, which was the fish soup. There is no taste and burnt toast. Main course of fish cakes was delicious. However, a visit to the bathroom left me speechless, no running water to wash hands, and taps were loose and just turned around. Staff were brilliant, and the service was fantastic. The Ambience of place was beautiful, but I don't feel it was up to the star level I read on their website. Don't think I would visit again which is disappointing as the place has so much potential. The porter, Kevin was brilliant and was a gentleman and created a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the main house.

We had several suppliers and a lot going on during day, everything went to plan, and when we needed support the staff, especially Abigail looked after us superbly. We had food the night before in the private restaurant, we were so well looked after, whilst our guests had a brilliant night eating in the pavilion. Our guests commented how special the manor was, including the accommodation, our guests said they were well looked after by all the staff. Our food throughout the weekend was excellent, again our guests commented how superb the wedding food was , I agree. Highly recommended for a night away, food, and/or your wedding.

Just Spent a fantastic Saturday evening, Sunday breakfast here, celebrating our friends 50th. Had the Turnberry room which was very clean and well furnished. 8 of us ate in the private dining room. We had a great evening, lovely setting, fabulous food. Fantastic staff. Special mention to the girl who attended to us , she was great and added to the occasion. She fully engaged with the 40&50somethings letting our hair down and enjoying a kids free weekend. If you have a staff recognition scheme, please make sure she is recognised for her efforts.

We were slightly apprehensive about our stay after reading some reviews however no need as it was perfect! We arrived at lunch time, a few drinks in the bar (house rose champers was excellent. We had a really nice lunch, I went for al a carte and hubby had the 2 course lunch. We both had cheese soufflé with extra sauce 😍. I had the hake with red curry & a portion of truffle fries & hubby had chicken supreme. Dessert was treacle & pear tart and sticky date pudding. A special mention to Freya who was excellent front of house, so attentive and kind. She is an asset to c&L 👏🙌🏻 All was excellent. We checked in to Bird Island with its own Sauna & hot tub. It had some nibbles in the room and we took a bottle of fizz with us. It was no problem to provide an ice bucket & glasses. Thankyou for a great stay!

First timers for dinner with friends who had dined before. Food was amazing as was the service. We sat in the conservatory which was a lovely setting. Ladies toilets (both) were out of use and not flushing. Pleased I waited till we were leaving as think it would have put me off my meal had I have return to the table after using a toilet that wasn't clean 😩

Traveled 12 miles for lunch , after checking the website and the menu ( was an anniversary treat ) to make sure all was ok , only to arrive and be told the kitchen was shut for repairs . Suggested to the young lady it would have been helpful if this was on their website. Answer she would suggest it ( who to ? I don’t know) won’t be coming back

We stayed overnight in the Taj Mahal. Room was excellent, lovely decor and hot tub. Food was good however left feeling for the price I would've expected more. Service in bar area could've been better, was told we could have drinks made to order for room service, but not at bar. No cocktails either. Will be coming back.

We were recommended this place for dinner by friend and we’re looking forward to a lovely dinner. The place is unusual and you will have different experiences depending if you sit in the main restaurant or conservative. The food was tasty, but it left you wanting more - my fish soup, had 1 mini scallop, few brown shrimps, 4 mussels but no fish what so ever! I then ordered the main and asked for no potatoes, but unfortunately, this was not delivered as expected. We left feeling that we had a tasty meal, but with a sense of “could have done better” - would I recommend it? Maybe!

Went for afternoon tea, absolutely awful. Twice had to ask for my name, then had to ask for coffee as not offered as wasn't the complimentary prosecco, again had to ask! The brioche were so hard I couldn't cut it! Mentioned this to the girl with the overly white teeth who needs to work on her attitude! Scones were hard, although the preserve was great! Macaron was synthetic tasting as were some of the other cakes I dared to try...in fact I left the majority it was so bad. The only redeeming factors were the coffee, prosecco and Peter. Definitely wouldn't come here for afternoon tea again, it's not up to standard.

Arrived early (before 6pm) told that 6 tables had arrived before us and there would be a 45 minutes wait but we could have starters while we waited. Starters arrived 1hr and 5mins later but no order for a main. We left after 1hr40mins after being ignored and paid £60 for 2 starters ( brushetta and calamara) of average quality and low small portions together with 3 drinks. Very expensive for average food and dreadful service. Will never use again....which is a shame as we have used a few times beforehand...views are good bit Catch at Ryde is far better quality, service and food choice.

Sunday lunch in the restaurant. First visitedprobably 8 years + ago. First class food and service. Fixed price menu for 2 or 3 courses. Traditional beef, lamb or belly pork with vegetables etc well cooked and presented. Only downside was drinks slightly expensive at £13 for a glass of rose and similar for a small espresso martini. Very quaint setting with strange variety of artefacts hanging from the ceiling. My wife however was slightly concerned that there was accumation of dust on some items which were above our heads as we ate.

We booked this as a way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We drove into the restaurant first before being redirected to the Manor House behind. The staff that greeted us were cheerful and pleasant. Our room was beautiful and as we were dining at the restaurant in the evening we had informed them that my husband is Gluten Free, so a beautiful touch in our room was some GF cookies. My husband was absolutely delighted. We loved the sauna and afterwards we had a nightcap. The night staff member Chris was fantastic and really made our time feel special. He chatted to us at length providing us with lots of helpful local knowledge and just being a pleasure to talk to. We really appreciated this as all the other guests had disappeared! We would definitely come again, for the good food and the location, but especially for the good craic!

The Crab and Lobster is such a uniquely special hotel, the rooms are all themed meaning that no two stays are the same (unless you want them to). This time we had a guest along - Tado our dog 🐶 and we stayed in one of the dog friendly rooms, we absolutely loved it and so did he. He was able to watch rabbits and we were able to relax. All the staff members made us, and him feel welcomed.

I'm only giving this 4 stars overall due to one thing, the rooms are starting to look a little dated and could do with a freshen up. We stayed in one of the lodges with a hot tub and it just felt a little old. The hot tub cover had some damage and there were lights that were no longer working. The bath in the room (it doesn't have a standing shower) was very slow to fill as the taps are loose and the pull out shower attachment had bits missing so water went everywhere when we tried to use it. Tea and coffee are available as in most hotels but the bottled water provided had no lid, so we chose not to use it. I give the staff 5 stars though, they were all friendly, helpful and I have to give a special mention to Freya in the bar/restaurant who was more than happy to go out of her way to ensure our needs were met. Breakfast was nice with plenty of choice and a drink in the bar after checking out made a nice end to our stay. We will definitely be going back, and living only 20 minutes away means we'll be visiting the restaurant again too.

I recently took my wife to Crab Lobster in North Yorkshire for a surprise wedding anniversary afternoon tea, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown to a charming pod located in the beautiful grounds of the restaurant. Peter, our attentive host, introduced himself and promptly took our drinks order. The selection of sandwiches, scones, and desserts was nothing short of delightful. Each item was exquisitely prepared and delicious. We were able to relax and savor our tea at our own pace, without feeling rushed—something rare in many places. Peter’s attentive yet unobtrusive service added to the overall enjoyment of our visit. He checked in on us to ensure everything was perfect and to take any additional drink orders. This exceptional level of service and attention to detail truly reflects the high standards we have come to expect from Crab Lobster. I would highly recommend Crab Lobster to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. The combination of outstanding food, picturesque setting, and impeccable service made our anniversary truly special.

Rooms are themed so it's an individual score the room we had wasn't to our taste but we are sure it will be fine for others. The overall ambiance was fantastic we were in a group of 16 without a doubt that helps however we did see couples also having a wonderful time. The service was superb very friendly staff in the restaurant and bar area however booking out was slightly different for some of the group. Items added to their bill but nobody ordered those items were removed with some persuasion just left a bad taste. Would we return the answer is yes but we'd select a different themed room.

Just had an overnight DBB staying in Raffles, beyond superb, looks exactly like the photograph, real attention to detail, right down to gluten and lactose free chocolate brownies on the welcome tray and soya milk in fridge. Fabulously private, fabulous room, hot tub and sauna, with addition of super comfy bed. Booked for Birthday treat and certainly not disappointed, can’t wait to go back, such a wonderful relaxed break and the decor and gardens are amazing, plenty of colonial talking points.

Booked a table for 23 to celebrate my mums 90th birthday party. The team helped me organise the event, were accommodating to what we needed and were always in hand to have a chat. The food - outstanding. Beautifully cooked and presented. The service was outstanding with different food from each course served at the same time. No one waited for food to be finished. The venue, well it’s simply brilliant. It’s a great place to be. Thanks to all the team who made this special day even more magical.

Had an evening meal in the bar as we had our dog with us. Fantastic food. Really delicious. Sweetcorn and chili soup to start - smoky and just right. Lovely bread. Wonderful fish pie and the pork belly was delicious. We struggled to manage desserts but had rice pudding and an ice cream. Can’t fault the food and staff were friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Grateful that the dog was allowed in the bar area. Would go again if staying locally.

On a trip to picturesque Pateley Bridge – a pretty little town in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales – we chose High Street Fisheries for dinner. This classic fish and chips shop is centrally located on the main street and, from the outside, appeared down-to-earth and authentic. The online reviews fluctuated between praise and criticism – reason enough to form our own opinion. The small shop has the feel of a typical British snack bar: functional, a bit dated, but clean. There's limited seating, and you shouldn't expect much atmosphere. If you enjoy your snack outside, you can at least watch the hustle and bustle of the charming high street – a pleasant plus in good weather. The service was businesslike but not particularly cordial. The lady behind the counter worked quickly but was rather curt when asked questions. Everything was routine, but a smile or some friendly small talk would have improved the experience. Overall, it was solid, but didn't make a particularly strong impression. Unfortunately, the food was the weakest part of the visit. The fish was crispy fried, but the taste was disappointingly bland – even after adding a generous amount of salt, it didn't really deliver a delicious meal. The breading was very greasy, and the fish itself lacked flavor. The chips had a rather soft, somewhat mushy texture and were also very oily. Particularly annoying: A slightly pungent taste of old frying oil spoiled the overall impression. The location is worth mentioning – ideal for a quick meal while strolling through Pateley Bridge. If you like rustic food and just want something warm to eat on the go, you'll find it here. The portion size is generous, and the value for money is decent for the region. High Street Fisheries is a classic village fish stall with a lot of potential, but it doesn't quite live up to it. In terms of taste, my visit fell well short of expectations: too greasy, too bland, and with an unpleasant oily taste. The shop serves its purpose – but nothing more. Okay for a quick bite, but for real fish and chips, there are definitely better places in Yorkshire.
