We were visiting for a friends 60th and we were at the restaurant on a recommendation. The food was great! So well cooked and tasty! The staff were fantastic and very informative on the area. We will be back!.

This is a small local fish shop near Kipling's and The Cracker Barrel. The fish is superb and always well cooked and a very generous size. The standard portion of chips is enough for two people and certainly way too much for me. I always order a small portion. There are all the other things you'd expect on offer, sausage, scampi, peas, curry sauce etc etc.

Viajamos regularmente de Leicester a York para visitar a familiares. Originariamente vengo de Idle en Bradford y por eso conozco Town Gate Fisheries. Nos gusta tanto su pescado y patatas fritas que rompemos nuestro viaje deteniéndonos por pescado y patatas fritas cuando podemos. Está un poco lejos de nuestra ruta, pero vale la pena. Sus pescados y patatas fritas son tan buenos que no puedo recomendarlos lo suficiente.

What a horrible experience, nothing to do with the food because we didn't get that far, a rude and obnoxious man with a massive chip on his shoulder ( excuse the pun) stay well clear

Lovely fish and chips, with nice crisp batter on the fish. Really tasty and freshly prepared. Definitely a favourite place to go for takeaway fish and chips.

My partner and I ordered takeaway from here based on the 5* reviews. Huge mistake. I paid £18 for the below 'platter' and think the picture speaks for itself. Firstly, there were only scraps of fish including smoked salmon. The vegetable component was pretty sparse as well with two paper thin slices of avocado. The rolls did not come with any masago as promised, and cucumber was basically just the peel. Lastly, some of the sushi was wrapped in white cabbage. I am not sure if this is due to them running out of seaweed or their own -- ahem -- unique way of doing things, but at least specify on the menu. The spicy salmon rolls had no sriracha or indeed any spice. I'm not sure what the garnish of cold, flabby noodles was there for, either. I've never had such stale and bland sushi in my life. Thankfully UberEats have refunded me. I will not be returning, and suspect a lot of their reviews have been planted by their mates.

Lovely but small portions for price, nice items to but in there like homemade jars of pickle, eggs etc looks nice , clean.. good service just pricy
