As so many reviews testify ‘Shoal’ has to be the best fish and chip restaurant we have ever experienced. Nicely designed, clean and comfortable restaurant setting or takeaway the choice is yours. In the restaurant all the staff are friendly, chatty in a good way and helpful - after we had finished we were asked “Do you want the bill or to chill?” which is an absolute first: in so many places the bill would have appeared as a means to get us out of the door and free up the table. Food? Perfectly cooked haddock in light batter, ‘proper’ chips, minted peas and good tartare sauce. We weren’t drinking but short wine list is good by the bottle or reasonably priced glass. There are no shortage of places to eat in Winchester and ‘Shoal’ is deservedly one of the best.

We enjoyed an absolutely phenomenal Half Lobster platter from Jan for our lunch today! Post hiking the coastal path for the last few days I knew a stop in Solva was approaching, and called Jan a couple of days ago regarding a Half Lobster platter to fuel us on the next step of our journey. She was more than accommodating, despite not being at home, and on arrival today had our order ready to go. Sitting in the tranquil Solva harbor, we enjoyed a myriad of prepared delights; Lobster, Crab, and King Prawns. All gloriously prepared and absolutely divine on the palate. Ever in anticipation of my return!

I booked with slight trepidation after reading some mixed reviews. Staying at Fionnphort or 2 nights with my wife to visit Iona & Staffa and as the trip coincided with my wife's birthday I booked the Ninth Wave as a treat. We both eat out regularly in Scotland and abroad and have been lucky enough to visit some Michelin starred places over the years. The service at Ninth Wave was slightly quirky but very pleasant and the dining room small but very relaxed. The quality of food served was beyond expectations and on a par with some Michelin starred establishments. The format is akin to a tasting menu with 3 or 4 smaller plates (#4 is dessert), cheese as an optional extra and coffee / petit fours included. We shared a decent bottle of white from an interesting list. I had scallops and wood pigeon while my wife had the mackerel and crab stuffed courgette blossom. We both chose the half lobster "main" course. the Pigeon was slightly tough but otherwise the food was faultless. The lobster was exceptional and so refreshing to see it on a menu without the usual pricing supplement. Fabulous evening - thank you Carla and John. We will visit again one day.

I've eaten at a lot of chippys and this has to be up there in the top 5. An easy system to order online. Lovely staff working on the tills. The food was freshly cooked and a choice of 3 curry sauces is literally unheard of. Fruity, Chinese or normal curry sauce. The prices are fantastic, a third cheaper than my local in Leicestershire. Huge selection of food, speedy attentive service. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

A really delightful evening ... food was delicious; wine pairing was delicious ... all made even better by Lucy and her team who made us feel as if we were the only guests on the boat!! Thank you!!

Flavour Flavour is probably the best dining experience I have ever encountered. The food tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented, and Chris’ commentary on how it was gathered and prepared adds a depth to the dining experience that enhances one’s appreciation of and enjoyment of each dish. Add to that the fun of watching Chris and Alex actually plate each dish in the open-kitchen dining area, and the whole experience is absolutely wonderful! Each dish, many of them using ingredients foraged from the hills and shores of the Isle of Harris, provided an explosion of wonderful tastes. The island is a great place to visit for its natural beauty and friendly people, but even if that weren’t the case, a chance to dine at Flavour would make a trip there worthwhile.

Have just learned that Sea Fever is now permanently closed. To say I am gutted is an understatement, we have been there many times and each meal was absolutely superb, it was our main reason for visiting Bude from Hertfordshire, we would stay 2 nights and eat there on both of them.

Booked online excellent service confirmations etc .. on arrival was greeted by name which was a nice touch , even though it was only our third visit. We sat in the conservatory at the front but inside looked cosy and there is a bar area. There is a lunchtime special but we just chose what we fancied. Croquettes with truffle , mussels with cider chorizo and leek (delicious) calamari , albodingos (special) , patatas bravas . Nice wine ,good views ,excellent service .

After a stroll along the seafront we were ready for something to eat. Chose the mini fish and chip deal as we were planning on going out for dinner that evening! The mini meal was in fact huge- cod, chips and a large curry sauce - all for £8.99 each! Ate it overlooking the sea and it was delicious. Would definitely eat there again if in the area! ( And no, we didn't need dinner that evening!!)
